Satellite 2450-101 after the 60 GB HARD drive upgrade, made only to see 30 GB
Hello world
I'm new to this forum. I own a 2450-101, a little old man, real it´s, but still a very nice PC. Harman-Kardon louspeakers make it very useful for music.
I would switch the HD, so I installed a new 60 GB (the maximum taken in charge, I said) and used the recovery CD.
Everything worked perfectly, but it seems that only 30 GB can be seen by Windows. I heard, that I might need to update the BIOS. Mine is version 1.50.
After a long search through sites Toshiba and the Inetrnet, I can only find updates the BIOS for the new models...
only reference I've seen is on this page: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?service=EU&FID=TRO0000000b07, but
Yet once I don't find Bios for my model.
Please any help would be really appreciated ;)
Hello
You are right. This laptop is a bit old, but very nice. It provides performance enough for someone in need of this laptop only for everyday use.
As for you statement about 60 GB of HARD drive. Well, I m a bit confused.
How did you check the size of the HARD drive and why you say that it recognize only 30 GB?
How did you check that? And you are sure that you have installed and 60 GB HARD drive?
I recommend to check the size in disk management!
With regard to the BIOS;
The BIOS for this laptop is on the Toshiba driver page:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
There, you have to search in archive Archive Satellite Satellite 24xx Satellite 2450-101.
As far as I know the BIOS 1.50 is available on the page!

Satellite C650D-112 - reinstall Win 7 after the failure of HARD drive
The 320 HDD on my C650D-112 18 months, failed last week.
I replaced it with a 128 GB SSD and it now boots into Windows 8 preview in about 10 seconds!I have a copy of the disk HARD original including the recovery of HARD drive Partition, but no recovery disk.
I can't reinstall drive would work I had been a responsible adult and created the disk when the laptop is new because the disk is smaller. Is it possible to reinstall the original Windows 7 Home Premium operating system of the copy of the HARD drive recovery Partition?
> Is it possible to reinstall the original Windows 7 Home Premium operating system of the copy of the HARD drive recovery Partition?
No, to my knowledge, this is not possible, even if you copy the contents of the recovery of HARD drive on the new partition on the new HARD drive, HARD drive recovery option does not appear in the advanced boot menu.
So, it seems you need to order a new drive to get here:

G6 2312ax Pavilion: Pavilion g6 2312ax keyboard does not respond after the death of hard drive
My laptop received disc hard failure two months and he died since then. I intend to change the hard drive of the laptop as soon as the order arrives in a few days. But now the problem is that as if now the keyboard of my laptop does not respond. So I would like to know if this problem will be resolved after the replacement of hard disk or is related to the software / operating system of your laptop?
Help, please...
Sorry I couldn't answer yesterday.
The update, is that when I tried to turn on the laptop as well by pressing the ESC. The laptop did not respond initially but then responded in the end, but after that, there is no answer.
Now Mr. President, I would like to know your end on this issue?

Windows 7 will not activate with the OEM key, after the failure of HARD drive.
Hello
I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop. The HARD drive failed and the system unusable. I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media. The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.
The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid. I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.
I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Satellite 2450 S203: SMART HDD can fail - HARD drive change?
Hello
My Satellite 2450 S203 seems to run slow extremeley (20 minutes to start windows!). I get a warning in the Manager of Toshiba hard disk may fail soon.
I guess I should do a new hard drive? Is it possible to fix it? If not, what type of replacement hard drive should get?
Thank you
AndreasHello Andreas
If the HARD drive has a mechanical problem it aren't there has not much to do and you should buy a new HARD drive. But before this I recommend you to do the clean install of OS and see how the laptop runs. After the long period of use and many facilities that the OS will be slower and slower, but 20 minutes is definitely too long for the start-up procedure.
According to specifications specification must be 40 GB of HARD drive. I'm sure that for the upgrade, you can use 60 GB HARD drive. On this HARD drive replacement is quite simple and you can do it alone. If you n t do this please write again.

Pravilion dv7 series replaced after the recovery disk hard drive failure
I tried to use the portion of my drive recovery hard when my laptop Pavilion dv7-4173 US could not operate. After trying the hard drive recovery part several times I got an error message saying that the bootmgr is missing. I tried using the recovery discs I got to the store, I bought the computer before taking it home, and they failed. They worked up to 32% and then stopped. I took the laptop and recovery (6 discs) disks to the tech Department of another retail store. After several days, I learned the recovery disc where no good/damaged. When I contacted the store bought told me that I had to bring in the laptop and recovery disks. They replaced the hard drive, saying: that was the problem, but do not partition. They decided to classified until the system OS of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit for Windows 7 Professional 64 bit., but did not try the recovery disks. Can I use the recovery disk, they made me, if are good restore the laptop back to factory new? I know he will place the operating system Windows 7 Home back on the computer, but I want that all return provided with computer programs. I'll be able to upgrade the Professional operating system? I have the disc of Windows 7 Professional. If my restore disk will not work, can I use the recovery disc, only 2 discs instead of 6, I can buy from HP and then move on to professional?
Thank you. Computer to factory fresh. Just update software and then go to Windows 7 Professional

I had to replace my HARD drive once it's dead, I have an external hard drive with a complete picture of my old drive, but cannot access it.
My operating system is Vista Home premium and I don't have a disc, it's all about the old HDD. I tried to boot from the image. did not work.
HELP I need my urgent fileshttp://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/backup.aspx
Vista Home Premium not let you do a full backup of your hard disk Image. read the above info.
If you use 3rd Party Software to make the Image, you need to restore.

How to get Vista recovery Media to back to factory settings.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed. There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

iMac 27 "mid-2011 hard drive failed, fan to full after the removal of HARD drive
iMac (27 inch, mid 2011)
2.7 Ghz i5
12 GB of RAM
I have a fault where the HARD drive fan runs at max speed (RPM 5431, 51 * C temp).
The first symptom was a rattling noise from the factory 1 TB HARD drive, which has disappeared from the system, to be replaced by a disk of 4 GB in size. Then the fan started running at max speed.
A few months ago, I installed a 2nd drive HARD, an SSD and use this to all the data, so the 1 TB drive HARD original was basically unused and empty. To try and stop the fan and also run the disk diagnostics failed I've removed it from the iMac. However the HARD drive fan is always full.
I ran the Apple Hardware Test and received the error message: 4SNS/1/40000000: TH00 - 9,000
Given the primary SATA HDD is now removed, I also set the temperature probe? Are there other fixes to this problem of fan? I didn't intend on replacing the HARD disk immediately that this is not necessary at this stage.
Thank you!

What you try to do is not the Windows installation files back up but the creation of recovery disks.
For some reason of original Toshiba recovery image cannot be found or detected on the HARD drive. I don t know what that you did, but it can happen if hidden recovery partition is deleted or partition structure has been changed.Do you have more questions?

How to regenerate the thumbnails of the Photos after the restoration of hard drive?
Hello!
A few weeks ago, our drive hard iMac failed and was repaired under the hard drive replacement program. I have restored our our last backup system, but all of our photo in photo thumbnails are black or white with no details. When we open a photo, that is, but the thumbnails are not visible, making navigation impossible.
I tried to repair the library. Who did nothing.
I tried to turn the photos. Turning the last import (300 photos) two-way regenerated the thumbnails OK, but it took 6.5 minutes. I 80 000 pictures. According to my estimate, that makes a little more than 12 days (assuming a linear extrapolation, in any case), during which my CPU will be under a lot of stress.
I also noticed that the rotation thing has no effect for videos.
So I thought, as a last resort before putting my Mac in two weeks of enforced non-toucher, I would like to ask if anyone had other ideas.
Also, does anyone know how to regenerate the photos to the videos?
Thanks in advance!
-Mike
Try first to turn a lot of direction tiles 90 ° and 90 ° backward. See if that will restore them. If it works then make lots at once, not the entire library.
If it does not try to repair the library according to the instructions in this document to Apple: Repair Your Library.
Warning: If you use iCloud photo library with Photos, this operation will lead to Photos to upload all your pictures again (of difficulty missing or incorrect thumbnails in photo - Apple Support).
