>... I need to back up the windows installation files
What you try to do is not the Windows installation files back up but the creation of recovery disks.
For some reason of original Toshiba recovery image cannot be found or detected on the HARD drive. I don t know what that you did, but it can happen if hidden recovery partition is deleted or partition structure has been changed.

    Hello

I hope someone can help me

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L50 and when I start it, it says
+ no boot device please don't restart System.

It is still under warranty because it was purchased only 6 months ago.
I took it back where I bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.

    I'm waiting on a reminder.
I hope that someone can help you. He also asked that the HARD drive password.

Where can I find this information?

    Hi Kym

I guess the L50 Satellite cannot find the boot device (HARD drive), because the HARD drive was obtained with a drive password HARD and without this HARD isn't accessible disk password and the system does not start properly.

Did you set this password for HARD drive in the past?
I m request because this isn t password on new laptops. This HARD drive password can only be set by the owner of the laptop

Of my knowledge if you know n t this HARD drive password, you will not be able to access the HARD disk in such a case, the HARD drive would be useless, and the data would be lost

That's why I recommend you check if someone put the HARD drive on your laptop password where you n t know the password, you will need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system once more.

AFAIK, the chipset drivers are responsible for the usb, esata functions but you already reinstalled it. Have you tried to remove the chipset drivers in Device Manager and reinstall again? If still does not solve your problem, it may be the operating system itself. Using the preinstalled operating system or Windows disk?

    Hey Buddy,

The full HARD drive recovery procedure is described here, so please check this article:

If it doesn't work your only option, you use the recovery media. Did you create this such as described in the user manual?

  • Cannot restore the files from hard drive damaged in disk utility

    Questions

    1. can I save my files/fix this problem without having to restore via disk utility?

    2. What am I doing wrong / I can do to restore correctly on an external hard drive via disk utility?

    Background

Last week when I turned my MacBook Pro 2012 I got stuck on the gray login screen. The progress bar moves very, very slowly and when he finished my laptop spontaneously restarted and repeated the same thing over and over again. Here's what I tried to do so far:

-Start in SafeMode: does not work

-Extended Apple Diagnostics/Apple Hardware Test: test results: no problem found

-Utility (recovery and valorisation of the Internet) disk: disk hard Mac (Apple HDD) and Recovery (partition) HD are not damaged, but the partition disk0s2 is (created after a failure; a year not logged - if it matters) and in 'check' and 'fix' the latter I get inconsistent error messages.

    Disk utility error messages

Most often, I get this error:

The volume disk0s2 was found damaged and must be repaired. Error: This disc needs to be repaired. Click on the ERD.

    Stopped disk utility check "disk0s2."

Disk0s2 volume could not be repaired after 3 attempts.

Error: Disk utility can't repair the disk. Save as many files as possible, reformat the drive and restore your files packed around the top.

I also received this error message once:

Wrong number of extended attributes (it should be 730585 instead of 730589)

Wrong number of access control lists (there are 1364 instead of 1368)

Save the files to external hard drive?

Before that I didn't even used/accessed Time Machine.  I have a new HDD external, formatted for Mac. I created two partitions: backup and Time Machine (so I can start using it once I have find this current issue). When I try to restore disk0s2 external hard disk I get an error restore failed (252 or 254, I think).

When you drive is damaged, it is extremely difficult to make progress.

I recommend the lessee a spare drive in an external enclosure and install MacOS on it again. Then boot from that and you are back in business. You can use the full power of Mac OS AND additional utilities to recover your files.

More 350 000 files on your damaged disc are Mac OS - and those that can be installed in replicas of prefect by a new installation on a new drive. You can't Brute force 'all' copy of a damaged disc. What you want back damaged drive is not Mac OS X files - you want YOUR files. They are stored in the Directory/users in a folder with your short user name. with additional utilities, you can simply copy this directory, or use a recovery as data rescue program to get individual files.

  • Satellite 1410: I forgot the password for HARD drive

    Hi Please help!

    Help, please

    Hello

AFAIK, you need the old HARD drive password to clear the password disk HARD asking.
If you have forgotten the password to disk so you don t have any other possibility to get into the HARD drive. In this case, the HARD disk is unusable and unfortunately you need a new HARD disk drive. :(

    Best regards

  • Cannot read the old laptop hard drive attached again, says disk needs to be formatted

    Original title: hardware device

I am trying to up load my old laptop the laptop to my new computer hard drive so that I can access my old files, but it is endlessly with need to format the new device this will clear all data? It only allows me to open the old hard drive at all? Please help I really need to have access to my old hard drive through my new laptop I have no other way to get the information out.

    Hello

Yes if you format the drive it erases it's clean. Did you put the drive in the computer as the 2nd disc
If the computer still starts off the coast of its original disk? It's easier to do on a desktop.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or another USB
readers. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This can be done with the player in the)
original laptop. If the drive is viable (not totally dead).

Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windows-computer

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reader might have been damaged and may not be easily accessible. There are professional
companies that can recover data off a dead drive if it is a costly process.
Check with a real computer store (one that makes its own service in the House and no leeks)
and displays a Best Buy or other stores) or system manufacturer support.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite 2450-101 after the 60 GB HARD drive upgrade, made only to see 30 GB

    Hello world

I'm new to this forum. I own a 2450-101, a little old man, real it´s, but still a very nice PC. Harman-Kardon louspeakers make it very useful for music.

I would switch the HD, so I installed a new 60 GB (the maximum taken in charge, I said) and used the recovery CD.

Everything worked perfectly, but it seems that only 30 GB can be seen by Windows. I heard, that I might need to update the BIOS. Mine is version 1.50.

After a long search through sites Toshiba and the Inetrnet, I can only find updates the BIOS for the new models...

only reference I've seen is on this page: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/faq.jsp?service=EU&FID=TRO0000000b07, but

Yet once I don't find Bios for my model.
Please any help would be really appreciated ;)

    Hello

You are right. This laptop is a bit old, but very nice. It provides performance enough for someone in need of this laptop only for everyday use.

As for you statement about 60 GB of HARD drive. Well, I m a bit confused.
How did you check the size of the HARD drive and why you say that it recognize only 30 GB?
How did you check that? And you are sure that you have installed and 60 GB HARD drive?

I recommend to check the size in disk management!

    With regard to the BIOS;
The BIOS for this laptop is on the Toshiba driver page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

There, you have to search in archive Archive Satellite Satellite 24xx Satellite 2450-101.
As far as I know the BIOS 1.50 is available on the page!

  • When I start the machine, continuous hard drive work for almost 1/2 hour, meanwhile if I open a program, the machine runs very slowly. Help solve the problem please

I have wndow XP Home edition service pack 3 installed on my lap top. When I start the computer the hard drive continues to work for almost 1/2 hour; Meanwhile, if I open IE, or any program, the machine runs very slowly and I just can not open the program up until the drive hard light is off. Please help solve the problem

How much RAM you have on your system? (Right click on "My Computer"-> properties)

As a general rule, Windows XP does not work well if you have less than 1 GB or more of RAM.  What usually happens is that your RAM capacity is exceeded leading to overflow on virtual memory (the drive) to compensate for the need of RAM in the computer.  This causes your system to beat on your hard drive and slow down your system.

If this is your problem, the options are to increase the RAM on your system or decrease the non-essential programs that launch at startup on your computer using a tool like Autoruns.

  • Cannot start the Turbo Boost technology driver

I use a notebook of 3085 dv7. When troubleshooting one alert on the Intel Turbo Boost Technology driver, he said he "cannot start (code 10)". I've updated the file of the driver from the HP website, but it looks the same driver and does not resolve the alert.

I am running windows 7 64-bit with an Intel i7. Any suggestions? I guess he can help performance if it is functional, but not sure.

Hi, if the laptop is a Dv7-3085dx with a Core i7-720QM, it does not support the driver of turbo-boost. I don't know why they named driver turbo-boost and also why it is listed as a pilot for the Core i7 processors first generation. This is for processors with integrated graphics chips (Sandy Bridge?). You don't have to bother with the driver, uninstall it because it does not work on your laptop...

  • Cannot set the password for hard drive on the W530 with Intel SSD 520

    Hello

I have a w530 with an Intel SSD 520 in primary hard drive Bay. Whenever I try to set a password for the primary hard drive, it doesn't stick. If I chose master + user or simply user, I will enter the password, it will take the passwords without producing an error and then just dump back me to the screen of passwords while leaving the disabled hard drive password.

BIOS is on the latest version for the w530 and SSD, the machine seems fairly normally operate differently.

Does anyone have ideas how I can activate the password? Thank you!

    Hi, ctenorman

I did some research and came across this thread of Intel. There are a few people in the thread who were able to set the password on this particular drive. It seems that changing the BIOS "SATA" compatibility mode, set the password, restart, and then change it to "AHCI" worked for some, but not all customers with this player.

Good luck and let me know how it goes
