Satellite A100-803 - no sound

Hello

I have a toshiba Satellite A100-803 model No. PSAANE-02502USP

But now the sound does not work with windows 7 64 bit, then I install linux ubuntu, but the sound does not work.
Could you help me?

Thank you very much

Did you check if the sound would work using the wired headset?
If this isn't it.

If speakers would work, please go to the
Control Panel - sound - control devices and check if speakers appear in the list of devices. If the speakers are listed, mark the speakers as the default device.

  • Satellite A100-803 - Vista recovery problem

    Hello

I upgraded the RAM and HDD on a Satellite A100-803 and when I restore Windows Vista from the recovery disk process is going very well, but after restarting windows says that "Windows Setup could not set up Windows on this s material.

I think that the problem is listed here.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us.

But the problem is that I can't change the RAID setting in the BIOS, and during the installation of recovery, I'm not able to add the additional drivers needed.
The new drive is a WD 500 GB driver (WD5000BPVT)

How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Pau

    Hello

First I put t think its BIOS problem.
    The laptop doesn't support RAID.

I think the problem is the size of your new HARD drive. Upgrade of the disk HARD 500 GB and its larger than the original HARD drive equipped in A100.

The point is that a recovery disk automatically creates the partitions on the HARD disk, but due to the size of the disk HARD the size of the partitions would be different also.
I think that you won't have the same problems to install Vista or Win 7 using the Microsoft disk

I want to upgrade the RAM of my Satellite A100-803, which uses actually PC2-533, at 4 GB.

    Can I upgrade to PC2 - 667?

If I not mistaken and for what I could see around the internet, I should be able to switch to 4 GB PC2-667 and Dual-Channel should not be necessary. But an expert of confirmation would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Re: Satellite A100-803 - CPU Upgrade question

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-803 at the moment. There is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 inside and it is a bit slow. Also, it does not support VT - x extensions.

My idea is to build a simple hobby-server which should run Gentoo with Xen on it. I can buy an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, but there are two things I'd like to know.

1 the bios does support the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
    2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?

    > 1. The bios supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600?
It is not known to me, but you should check if the chipset supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600. If the chipset does not support this CPU you can not use this CPU in your A100. But if the chipset would support the new CPU then you ve good chances to use this component.

    > 2. If she supports the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, is it possible to use VT - x extensions?
Hmm, that's a good question; as far as I know the BIOS must support the feature VT - x to use it of course the CPU must support this too so I think that VT - x should be available if the update for Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 would be successful

  • Satellite A100-803 - motherboard problem

I bought a laptop Toshiba A100-803, two years ago and now I can't turn on the PC.
We check the laptop and the problem is on the motherboard.

Anyone know who is motherboardĀ“s ID? Thank you

    Hello

    The motherboard is Toshiba.
You must use motherboards manufactured for Satellite/Satellite Pro/Equium A100.

So you can use google to get a new motherboard, or you can request an ASP for help.
You can order the partner service authorized in your country but new mobo mobo costs a small fortune.

    Hello

It is a known issue and it always seems if two important fixes from Microsoft were not installed.
You will need to install the fixes KB888111 and KB835221 first before installing the audio driver.

    Check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=31967

If after installation of hotfixes mentioned in XP you should restart the notebook and then need to install the driver of his newest site Web of Realtek.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAA2E) - no sound after installing Windows XP

I recently installed XP Pro on my laptop. It was previously running XP Home. Now I have no sound. I downloaded the Realtek drivers on the Toshiba site & also tried different drivers from the Realtek site, all without effect. Realtek sound appears in the Manager of devices as "w.orking correctly. Detached & allowing him to be detected again also has no effect. Any advice is welcome.

    Hi cvaughan,

Have you installed SP3 for Windows XP? If this isn't the case, you should do it, because it contains important updates for the sound card drivers.

So to remove the current sound driver, install SP3 and then reinstall the audio driver.

  • Satellite A100 - 803 (PSAANE) - Trouble updating the BIOS in Vista

    Hello

I tried to update the BIOS on my laptop today. After the installation of the new BIOS, restarted the pc and then it showed a black screen with white display text material in the machine.

In the end, it says something about a corrupt CMOS. She said press F1 to default or F2 for Setup.

    I pressed F1.

The thing is that I don't know if it worked. I used a program to display the bios version and it seems up to date, but the CMOS thing me freaked out.

I met all of the planned maneuvers (AC adapter / CC plugged etc.) except in startup mode. I assumed that the boot mode is currently in the standard vista desktop.

    * What is this thing of startup mode? * It's driving me crazy. I searched the forums, google and nothing. How can I get the computer to "boot mode and not recovery mode" as the tutorial says.

I intend to reinstall the BIOS as soon as I know how to enter in the boot mode.

I think that this announcement has already answered in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=122727#122727

You're talking about the traditional BIOS update, but the fact is that on the Toshiba driver page you will find ONLY the base BIOS update windows.
All new BIOS updates are versions of WIN and can be updated only running a Windows operating system.

In the BIOS, the package should be unzipped everything first, and then an .exe file must be run.

    That s all ;)

So, I think that the Bios broke down. How, I don't know.

Trying to enter in the setup by pressing F2 system displays "enter the configuration" but nothing happens. He stayus on this screen.
Is there a solution I can try to recover the Bios damaged from a USB or a USB floppy drive.

I checked the Toshiba support site, there is a Bios Update, but it is a program that should be started in Windows so I can't use it.

    Hello

You are right. There are, it's no BIOS which can be not started BOF on floppy or USB key.
You must update the BISO running windows OS.
But according to your message, it is not possible.

If you have no alternative but to contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country.
Guys should be able to help you. I presume that the technicians have access to the traditional BIOS version that can be updated using a disk.

    Hello

I have something new, something I've never seen and I do not much [as appropriate] of you.

Today, I installed Windows Vista Beta 2 on my laptop Satellite A100-192. As it is Vista compatible now [I added some memory] I think it's the right time to see the new operating system [that is great, he will rule the world for sure].

    But back to the topic.
After the installation of Windows Vista, which has detected almost all of the software in my pc and have fun on this topic / and there are a lot of things an old fart like me, can have fun with / I decided it's time to get back to work.
So I restarted my toshiba for win xp, started working and has decided that music will surely improve my / concentration i'm from Poland and as many of you know, my team lost the first game of the 2006 World Cup. so they will not pass the group stage of WC2K6--real cause my humor today. After turning on my foobar, I realized that I don't hear nothing/i do not drink, so he can't really be the cause. I've set all volume settings, all the settings of the sound and nothing! I tried headphone jack, but it does not work too. I tried reinstalling the drivers, reboot the system several times and... nothing.
I went back to Vista and... sound works like a charm.

Bromine to Vista my sound on XP...

  • Satellite A100 - no sound with Windows XP Pro SP3

    Hello

I'm the reconstruction of a laptop Toshiba A100-PSAA9A-10U038 with a new installation of Windows XP Pro SP3.

At this point, I have not all sounds (Yes, the volume is set to the top).

As this is my first post I covered I hope that most of the bases as with SP3 and I installed all the updates available from Toshiba and Microsoft - well at least, I guess I have. I downloaded the latest updates from Realtek who advised in a general forum but no luck.

Device Manager tells me that there are problems with a "PCI Device" and a "unknown device", and I assume that one of these two is the culprit.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi mate

I think that you have installed the driver of his evil.
    See this page:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/A100/psaa9a-10u038/download?OS=22

you will find all of the Win XP drivers for this model of laptop.
As you can see there are two different Realtek drivers:
    V Realtek Audio Driver 5.10.0.5253
    -Realtek ALC861 Audio Driver 5.10.0.5200

To my knowledge, you have the Realtek HD audio Manager.
But before install you the audio driver SP3 must be installed, it seems, that you did
However, the most recent audio Realtek driver can be downloaded from the Realtek page directly.
Select this check box, and then choose Manager Realtek HD audio for Win XP.

    Should work.

  • Satellite A100 - 01 L (PSAAR): XP sound driver need

    Hello

I need a sound driver for my laptop. It is a 01 L A100 (PSAAR). For PSAAR are just Vista drivers online... but I need one for XP... I tried all PSAA9 audio drivers... but they don't work! :(

I don't know why... I hope toshiba will publish drivers for PSAAR for XP soon, too... anyone know what driver would work? (Sorry for my English... I am from the Germany)

    Hello

The laptop uses a Realtek ALC861 audio chip.
Therefore, take a look on the realtek site and download the driver that supports this chip!

But it's very strange. Satellite A100 PSAA9E series uses the same sound chip and driver XP it works also on your laptop.

A tip: If the sound card has been recognized in the Device Manager, the driver is OK. In this case, you will need to check the volume and controls.
