Satellite A100 - DVD player not working not not after a CDDA extraction

Hello.
I have the same question of the user who posted this:

http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=23501

All started when I tried to copy an audio CD which was pretty bad. After that, I can not listen to audio CDs more, nor see any video DVD; the drive is unusable for this.
Work of data transfer.

I think that request and emphasizing the goal a little more than normal and * time * should not be a disk almost unusable.
Since it is the question of the other user, I feel like that.

(More difficult) replacement disks are available for sale (the PC is out of warranty a month)? Or there is no other solution? Thanks a lot to read me.

Francesca

Hi Francesca

Are you sure that it's a hardware problem?

This looks a bit like a malfunction of reader lens, but perhaps it's only a software problem (registry)...

Sometimes bad registry entries could prevent the equipment works properly.
I mean the value of the upper and lower filter.
Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
and restart the laptop.

But of course if the lens of the player is unable to calibrate properly and therefore it is not possible to read the other CD/DVD.
In this case, the disk must be replaced :(

The problem is that not all readers are compatible because different master/slave/c-select settings. If you want to buy and new CD/DVD drive then you should certainly contact the service provider allowed in your country to obtain and information which drives are supported and can be installed.

Best regards and happy new year

    Hello

Have you tried to boot from the recovery CD Toshiba?
Try to do it. If the CD/DVD drive may start on the recovery CD and then everything goes well with the material.
Sometimes the CD / DVD cannot be read by incorrect registry entries.

Then try to reinstall the operating system and check if the drive can handle the Toshibas recovery CD!

Hardware problem, I want to say that if the BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive (no details are listed), then its hardware based question looks like.

  • DVD player not working not not with win 8.1

Hello. I have the HP pavilion 15-e020TU laptop. My DVD player has worked with windows 7 and windows 8. After the upgrade to windows 8.1, the DVD player does not work. The Windows Device Manager find the DVD player, but represents a brand yellow error. I chose "update driver software" and then "automatically search for updates of driver software". Then the name changed from 'Mitsumi CD drive' to 'hp DVD A DU8A5SH'. And still does not. I installed the update of the firmware from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv481en&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jum... • DVD player not working not not Satellite Pro A100 - Code 37 error

    Hello

    Someone help on this?

I have an A-100 and the DVD player has stopped working in XP. I checked the Device Manager and see XP disc but returns this error "Windows cannot initialize the device of this hardware driver. (Code 37) »

I also noticed that ASAPI.sys is not running in the Task Manager.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the problem.

I tried to reinstall the device drivers, but this made no difference. Any suggestions?

    Hello

Error code 37 means the driver returned failure from its DriverEntry routine.
You can try to delete the driver from Device Manager and rebooted the new OS should recognize the drive device and initialize the driver again.

If this is not enough, try this procedure:
Run REGEDIT and open the following folders:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    -> SYSTEM
    -> CurrentControlSet
    -> Control
    -> Class
    {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After you click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right side:
    "Upperfilters".
    'Lowerfilters '.

Click on each of them, press DELETE, and then click YES.

Then restart the laptop and see if it was useful.

  • DVD player not working not not on Satellite Pro U400-142

My DVD player does not work. I insert a disc, you can hear the drive works for some time, but then nothing happens. I checked the Device Manager' - under readers of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM it shows: MAST * A DVD-RAM UJ862AS, but there is a black exclamation point in a yellow circle next to it. I opened the dialog box 'Properties' and under the status of the device, he wrote:

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware, but does not the hardware device. (Code 41)

I would try try to resolve the problem by reinstalling the driver. I checked Toshiba site for the driver, but can't find it.

I would be very grateful if someone could give me some ideas on how to sove this problem.

What you can do is follow:
Remove the optical drive from Device Manager drive, restart your laptop.

  • Satellite A100 controls do not work

I have a satellite A100 496, PSAA8E model number and since I got it, I was never able to use the buttons on the side.

I tried to install the common Modules as it said on some forum discussions, but nothing changes.

What else do I need to install?

At first, I must say that something like that is definitely not possible. Why? The laptop comes with the pre-installed operating system (factory settings). All these buttons are designed to work with pre-installed software (IE7, Windows Media Player, WinDVD years also with a Toshiba DVD player).

Because of this I can't believe you have this from the first day. Now the question: did you install your own operating system or you always use factory settings?

  • DVD player not working not not on Sat 1800-614

    Hello

I bought a Satellite 1800 614 3 years ago, provided with a DVD player. At this time there is no problem to read the DVD. I did not use it for a while and when I tried to use it I discovered that it does not read new DVD, I can see the movie but the two images and audios are dispersed and disrupted last year. It only works with the old DVD (2001-2002) and DVX and so on...

I was told that it is because they changed the format of DVD or something like that. Can you help me to fix it? Is it possible to update the BIOS any help? Maybe the firmware? You know the one that I need and where I can find it? I tried to update the drivers for DVD but it seems that he does not accept the change. Do you know how to update the drivers too?

THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP! I HAD THIS DVD PLAYER AND I NEVER GOT TO USE IT!

  • Satellite A660 - DVD player does not recognize some DVD

    I have a new Satellite A660-17th with a drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30N, running under Windows 7 64-bit.

The reader will read most DVDs. Commercial DVD (region 2) are very good. However, there are problems with the DVD recorded with DVD recorders. Recordings of DVD + R using a Philips machine work very well. DVD + R and DVD - R using a Sony HDX 1095 of RDR machine do not work.

I hope that the disc is ok and that this problem can be solved by changing some settings or other?
    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

If commercial DVDs are working properly, it s final related to your own created DVD recorder of DVD.
It s knows not to adjust something on the DVD player without region code

In my opinion, you should test different brands of DVD to check which is compatible with all devices.
My favorite is Verbatim DVD - R TDK also makes good discs

    Check this box!

  • Satellite A100: FN keys not working not not on Windows XP

Hi there, Im new to this, so hopefully someone can help.
Some time ago my hard drive had serious problems and I replaced it.

But with that I also had Windows XP like some things that I really didn't like about vista.

Anyway, since then my function keys on the 'F' keys and my media keys on the left side of the laptop are not working, can anyone suggest to me what I can do?

If it is a driver or something there, and if so, where can I get it?

    Hello

First of all, you should check your model number of the laptop.
The European driver Toshiba page provides drivers for five different sets of Satellite A100!
In order to choose one that fits!

If you want to use the FN buttons please ensure that your common Toshiba Module driver has been installed! This is important. In addition the Hotkey Utility must be installed as indicated by the above user.

Toshiba button near the power button are controlled by the Toshiba driver controls!

I think that these drivers should help you get the laptop works properly.

  • BT sending between Nokia 7373 and Satellite A100-207 does not work

Hi everyone, I wonder if you could help me please.

I have a laptop Satellite A100-207 with Windows XP Im trying to send a few things from my nokia 7373 to my computer and some stuff from my computer to my phone, but it won't work.

I have the bluetooth Wizard thing on my computer, but it keeps telling me that it cannot find not all devices.
My bluetooth is on and shown at all, so I don't know what im doing wrong.

Do I have to download stuff?
This computer no bluetooth in there?

IM so confused so if you have ideas, please let me know.
Ive tried to fix this for two days now and im starting to lose my patience.

    > This computer no Bluetooth in there?
    Your assumption is correct.

This laptop does not support the BT module and so you cannot use it ;)
If you can't find any BT label at the bottom of the unit and then the BT module has not been installed.

  • Satellite A100 PSAA9C does not work without the battery inside

    I'm having a strange problem with a laptop Satellite A100 (PSAA9C-SK900E).

The machine will not work without the battery in it. If the power supply is connected in the machine and the wall, it will power without the battery installed. If I install the battery, let it load completely (battery LED goes from orange to blue and the plug LED is blue) then start the machine it will work for a period of time (more than an hour depending on what I'm doing) then suddenly turns off.

If I restart the machine, it will work for a very short period (sometimes only for a few minutes) just before going off.

If I do this a couple times, the machine will be not even by post before turning off.
If I let the machine to recharge, it runs for a while and then do the same thing after using it for a while.
If the battery is pooched, which is fine with me. How to operate with only the power supply of the machine?

As I type this I'm suspecting that the adapter cannot be taken out the required voltage/amperage. (adapter is not still hot when charging, are my other laptops) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

If I understand your assignment, the laptop does not power up without the battery
But it will light if the battery is connected.

The question is; Is the power led on if the AC adapter is plugged?
If this isn't the case, then it means that the power adapter is faulty and so the laptop cannot be turned on by using only the AC adapter.

I think you should test a new adapter. Maybe it helps!
