The CD player will not even try to start when I restart the laptop. How do I make it work?
I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

Hello

> Nothing present in the work station in BIOS
Hardware problem, I want to say that if the BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive (no details are listed), then its hardware based question looks like.

Just a question; The ODD (optical disc) is listed in the Device Manager?
You see something like yellow exclamation?

Have you tried to start using different discs like win XP CD or Linux Live CD?
Check it!

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

  • DVD player not recognized after the upgrade to windows 8

I write this to document some odd behavior, that I lived after the upgrade to Windows 8 in the hope that it might save some grief for others.  Of course, if someone could explain why this problem occurs, I'd be very interested/grateful for an answer.

I recently updated my computer from Vista Ultimate to Windows 8.  I did a clean install of Windows 8, because there is nothing special about the machine I wanted to preserve.  In all cases, the upgrade went without a hitch and I was soon back up with Windows 8 as my OS (I really like, btw).

The only oddity I noticed after the upgrade is that my DVD drive was not recognized by the operating system.  Remember, this is the same DVD player that was used to install the OS, so I found it rather peculiar.  After a bit of lost time, try software solutions theoretical I started to play with the equipment.

My motherboard is an ASUS M3A78-EM.  My hard drive is attached to the SATA1 port and my DVD player is plugged into the SATA2 port.  I removed the DVD drive from SATA2, plugged into SATA3, restart Windows 8 (from HDD on SATA1) and Windows 8 now recognizes the drive!

I thought it was really weird, so I stop, put the DVD on SATA2 drive, rebooted, and the drive was no longer available in Windows 8.

OK, so I thought that maybe the SATA2 channel was bad (even if he had worked at the Windows 8 DVD installation, just an hour or two before), so I put my HDD on SATA2 and the DVD drive on SATA1.  After doing this, Windows 8 start very well (so there is nothing wrong with SATA2), and it recognizes the DVD on the SATA1 drive.

OK, so I did that for a while, and virtually all combinations I tried worked as long as the DVD player is not plugged in SATA2.

I cannot live with that, but thought it was really strange.  Also, I note that the old operating system (Vista) was acknowledging the same DVD player while it was plugged on SATA2.  This leads me to believe that the problem has something to do with Windows 8, but I can't imagine what could be the cause.

Thanks dude.  After you create this registry key/value and restart Windows 8 was able to finally see my DVD drive on SATA2.  =)

  • Install on MacBook Air - DVD player not recognized

    Strange problem.

Just picked up my MacBook Air today and went to install VMWare Fusion.  Plugged in an optical dvd/cd drive and it is recognized by OSX - the disc appears on the desktop and I can navigate it very well.

I launch Fusion and he sees not the drive - no button continue unless I keep the DVD player.  The second screen does not see the CD/DVD.

What I am doing wrong?  Seems if OSX saw the disc, it would be the merge.  It's a serious iso on a DVD of MSDN Windows 7 x 64.

Going along for an hour trying to understand this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

She was told that I need to run vmware, rather than worrying with bootcamp or parallels.

    Thank you!
    JOHN

HM, test this point, I expected it to work, but in my results, I was not able to make reognized on my MacBook Air.

I tested and then on one of our test machines (which is a bit outdated, running 10.6.5 and missing the update of the firmware to 2.0 EFI) and it worked.

We have improved this test to 10.6.6 machine and it no longer works.

So it seems that Apple has changed something, and who broke our EasyInstall to physical DVD drive detection.

Therefore, you can create a disk image using disk utility and install using that for now until we work with Apple in order to understand who has bug is.

Here's our KB for how to do this:

  • Satellite L450D - cd/dvd player not recognized: error code 39

    Hello
drive my laptop has disappeared from the 'my computer' screen and will not load disks; You can hear it turns as it plays, but then nothing comes. I checked for it Device Manager, and it comes up with the message "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) ».

I tried to update the drivers for it, but windows says I have correct and up-to-date drivers installed. I can't seem to find the drivers for it on the toshiba site and to be honest I'm not entirely sure to try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers without a bit of comfort that I have the correct driver. I'm tempted just to do a system restore, but I have a lot of things stored on the laptop that I (stupidly!) have not backed up yet and can actually copy in the distance the system on disk, because the hard drive does not work...

If there is a way to access installing the correct driver for the disc drive, and then uninstall the damaged one and reinstall the right pair, I prefer to do that.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

  • Satellite A100 - DVD player not working not not after a CDDA extraction

    Hello.
I have the same question of the user who posted this:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=23501

All started when I tried to copy an audio CD which was pretty bad. After that, I can not listen to audio CDs more, nor see any video DVD; the drive is unusable for this.
    Work of data transfer.

I think that request and emphasizing the goal a little more than normal and * time * should not be a disk almost unusable.
Since it is the question of the other user, I feel like that.

(More difficult) replacement disks are available for sale (the PC is out of warranty a month)? Or there is no other solution? Thanks a lot to read me.

    Francesca

    Hi Francesca

Are you sure that it's a hardware problem?

This looks a bit like a malfunction of reader lens, but perhaps it's only a software problem (registry)...

Sometimes bad registry entries could prevent the equipment works properly.
I mean the value of the upper and lower filter.
Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    and restart the laptop.

But of course if the lens of the player is unable to calibrate properly and therefore it is not possible to read the other CD/DVD.
In this case, the disk must be replaced :(

The problem is that not all readers are compatible because different master/slave/c-select settings. If you want to buy and new CD/DVD drive then you should certainly contact the service provider allowed in your country to obtain and information which drives are supported and can be installed.

Best regards and happy new year

    Hello

First of all, for several days, I've been able to extract the contents of the CD into my iTunes library.  Today after downloading and installing some updates, I have been unable to rip a CD into my iTunes.  I checked "my computer" "" and it does not show DVD drive under 'discs and devices' when I insert a CD.   I did find it and utility problems fix in my control panel and the following appeared.

Troubleshooting failed to automatically solve all problems.  You will find more details below.

    Problems encountered:

HP SU208GB DVDRW has a driver problem - does not set X

Could not found any material changes - detected!

When I received the updates, has lost the driver for my DVD - RW drive?  How should I do?

    Hello

In this case, the required driver is provided by the operating system, so there is no separate download.

    Were there a UpperFilters entry?

If there is and you deleted, try the following.

Right-click the icon in the Start Menu, select (Admin) command prompt and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.  In at the prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow                (Note that there is a space between sfc and /)

Let the entire process, then the output type and press ENTER.

Restart as the laptop and let windows load completely.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

In the run box, type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.

In the Device Manager window, expand CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, right-click the drive and select uninstall - when the device has been uninstalled, click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.
