Satellite A100 - problems after bootcfg /rebuild

Hi there guys!
I have a problem, that's for sure. I'll just show you a screenshot to get the image messed up :-))

http://i26.Tinypic.com/14uxbu1.jpg

Well well... everything that's happened when I chose the option "Normal startup" in msconfig (this one: http://i25.tinypic.com/2emzlo0.jpg). Then I restarted the laptop and hal.dll was gone, so I went to the recovery console and did the command "bootcfg /rebuild. The first screenshot above is the result. That's all! :-))

Any help will be appreciated.

P.S. I use a laptop Toshiba A100-011 (core 2 duo) with windows XP

P.S2. I tried to expand the hal.dll from winxp cd - nothing happened or there was some sort of mistake, I don't remember, that's why I used the bootcfg command.

Thanks for your time,
Regardz! :-)

> I tried to expand the hal.dll from the CD of Win XP
The picture above shows the Vista operating system. Therefore, you shouldn't t use all files from the XP operating system.

However, I put t know why you use the bootcfg / rebuild command to get the parameters of the previous system. In your case, it would be desirable to bring the OS up to this early time.
You can use the Vista System Restore tool to get the State of the old system.

This should be easier to solve this problem!

  • Satellite A100 - problem with the operation of the battery

    Hello!

My laptop (I bought 1.5 years ago) has a big problem when you use with the battery.
First of all, with a fully charged battery, the notification of "limited battery status" appears after 2 minutes of operation and after 5 minutes, he goes to the standby mode due to the level of the battery is very low.

Then, I plug it into the AC power and the battery remains yellow for about 15 minutes light and then turns blue.
(The battery is OK, I tested it on another satellite A100)

    What can be the problem?

    Thanks in advance!

    Maria

Given that you have tested the battery in another satellite A100, the problem must be in the settings of your computer:

1 > START > CONTROL PANEL > POWER SELECT THE OPTIONS ICON

2 > you will now see a screen that shows your management food and note * one * has a tick that is a small point in a circle:

    3 > BALANCED > POWER SAVER > HIGH PERFORMANCE

4 > THE PLAN OF POWER > CLICK ON CHANGE PLAN SETTINGS > WILL DISPLAY A SCREEN SHOWING YOUR PLAN!

5 > GO TO > * CLICK * WHERE IT SAYS CHANGE ADVANCED POWER SETTINGS

    6 > IF YOU SCROLL THE BAR TO THE * SIGN + > BATTERY-CLICK * THE * SIGN.

7 > YOU SHOULD HAVE: you will need to have play with these settings, or you can click on restore plan defaults to see if that will solve your problem

Notes by clicking on the * + plus SIGN next to tany of these options below will allow you to change what event happens on your computer.

  • Satellite A100-692: after an error of installation of Windows XP Prof blue

    Hello

I bought a new satellite A100-692 with Windows XP Home OEM as an operating system.
But when I tried to access the internet using the local area network and a Proxy Server, it does not work.

I tried everything I knew and even ask some Forums to get a response, but nothing help.
Then I think it can work when I install Windows XP Prof instead of the OEM Version. Because all Clients in our network work fine with it.

But when I run the Installer (booting from CD) I get a blue screen with the message that there is a problem with the PCI (pci.sys) driver (after loading all the drivers).

Can someone tell what I need to do so that I can install another OS?

    Thank you

PS: Excuse me if my English is not very good ;)

    Hello

First of all, the blue screen error message may appear due to hardware failure or serious malfunction of software.
In your case I guess that it s a software issue because on the version OEM pre-installed, everything worked properly.

In addition I checked the site s driver and it seems that there are drivers for 3 different notebooks to A100. In this case, you should be sure that you use the correct drivers.
As far as I checked this laptop your A100-692 has PSAA9E number.

But have you created a CD of drivers & tools before formatting the HARD drive? This option you will find in the assistance of Toshiba.

However, you can download the drivers from the Toshiba site and here it is very important that these drivers will be installed in the right order!
The chipset utility must be installed in a first time after all installations of service packs.
The common modules are also important.

  • DVD burn on Satellite A100 problem

I copied a saving a movie to my PVR to my Satellite A100, converted from .rec in .mpg and edited (cut from the ads at the beginning and end). So far, everything was fine - I could read the film edited on my laptop. The problems started when I tried to burn to DVD.

The first time I tried this, followed by Windows Movie Maker using Windows DVD Maker, it took about two-and-a-half hours (for a record of 1 hour 45 minutes), and then I found that the end of the film was missing!

My second attempt (same record) used Ulead DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba. It was much faster, taking about 45 minutes, but after trying to read the DVD, I found that about 50 minutes in the film noise stopped - the soundtrack to this point changed to that of the end credits (but not the image) and then fell silent.

I tried every software application with different media (first, Philips DVD + R; Second, Verbatim DVD + R) and found exactly the same problems every time.

Could someone suggest what I'm doing wrong before I waste more time or DVDs on this?

    John

    Hi mate,

I think that during the compression of something, it s logical that the process takes more time. It s like when you compress zip files, if you set a stronger compression that the process would take more time and archive would be less.

Yes, Don t worry, I sometimes some errors of thought, too. ;)

    ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901<--- this="" is="" the="" unknown="" device="" after="" bios="" update="" to="" 5.10="" on="" my="" satellite="" a100-153="">

Vista now shows it in as unknown device manager; the TOS1900 showed up too, but after installation of Toshiba Value Pack for Vista, it went.

    Help, please. WHICH IS: ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

Consider me the thickie Pack 1... Not sure wot im talkin end but n e way...
    Have a Satellite A100 570 (PSAA2E)...

Tried several websites online lookin for memory upgrade. Did not have the witt to use the toshiba site... Eventually get to the point...
Ran the Diagnostics on laptop and sent module one needed.or so I thought... wrong 1 or 1 s I bought 2 x 1 G modules in order to 'double '...

Got my money because they were not compatible with my system... something to do with the problems of density...
Tried company called OFFTEK... they seemed to know what they were talkin' about... I'm Offtek. at present one...

    200-pin 1.8V SoDimm PC2 - 4200 DDR2... but Toshiba recommended below...

    1 GB memory DDR2 PC2-4300 (533 MHz)
    Part number: PA3411U-2M1G
    1024 MB (1 GB) memory PC2 - 4300 DDR2 (533 MHz)

Theres an obvious difference... 4200 and 4300. But I'm not sure if there is a significant difference... or what it means
Update the bios to the version latest and basically put all that toshiba had to offer for this model...

EVEREST ran and it recognizes the module 1 G but when I pull out the original 512 MB module, the laptop starts for about 3 seconds then stops...
This repeats about 5 times then fill stop...

I don't like open the back cover too often but it's the 3rd module...
Don't know what is supposed to happen if the module works... IE launch message... dunno if windows recognizes module 1 G...
Would be - this bet safer to send Offtek module and stick with option of toshiba...

    Thanks in advance...

    Hey Buddy

    Have a look here:

    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=23658&ft=m&St=3

You can use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM bars!

The pc2-4300 Rams are the same as PC2-4200. It s just a marketing gag PC2-4300 are PC2-4200 modules that can be overclocked by some versions of BIOS PC desktop

However, you must take the PC2-4200.

  • Satellite A100-289: after 5.1 Bios Update powerfault on usb device

Hey, I have trouble after you install the Bios Version 5.1 on a Satellite A100-289.

First: there is NO external USB device connected!
After the awakening of the laptop Sleepmode , I received a message in Windows XP the a power fault has been detected on one of the USB devices. A dialog box opens and I can "reset" the device.

This only happens after that the laptop is awake in sleepmode, perhaps to Hibernate, but not when the laptop starts. It seems that everything works well, but this post makes me nervous.

Can someone tell me, what is going in this box?

    What about Mirko

    Hello

5.1 BIOS was designed for Vista but it should (or it works) also with XP!

However, you could try updating the BIOS with the other BIOS version that is operating system independent
or / and you can try to disable the power save option for USB ports in Device Manager.

  • Keyboard Satellite A100-906 after spilled drink

    Hello

I am owner of a Satellite A100-906 and I spilled liquid on the keyboard.
As I read on the official website of the product, the keyboard is the spill-resistant.
If I have understood correctly, the keyboard is covered by the warranty in case of spilled liquid.
    Is this fair?

    Thanks in advance,

    Maria

    Hello

I think you had something misunderstanded:

The keyboard is resistant to the spill, but that doesn´t means that it keeps water away from the machine. After checking Asian toshiba website, I found the following description:

    "A keyboard resistant splashes that increase the protection of the system by providing users with enough time to save their work and shut down the system in the case of a spill;

That means the keyboard prevents only the liquids to invade quickly into the machine, but that doesn´t means that the keyboard is covered by the warranty after any spillage of liquids on your machine.

    Welcome them

P.s.: That all means you will be charged for repair...

    Hi Patrick,

To be honest, your ad is very difficult to understand and I don t know what you mean exactly.

According to your assignment, it seems that you need a driver and you can get all the drivers here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

In regards to the FN keys you have Toshiba Value added Package, and Flash Cards Support utility. Everything can be downloaded from the official page of Toshiba.

    Hello

You should try to remove the devices that they are marked with a yellow exclamation point. Start Notepad, and then install the latest drivers from the Toshiba site.

If the virus has destroyed an important system files that it s is no longer possible to install a driver and you need to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.

Did you create the Toshiba Recovery disk? You can do this with the Toshiba recovery disc creator, which is preinstalled on your laptop. Maybe you are able to do this at the moment.
In addition, you reinstall Windows using the recovery of HARD drive option. So go to the advanced boot menu and select Repair my computer. Some Windows files will be loaded and then you can choose the Toshiba Recovery option and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you can t create the recovery disk, you must order a new Toshiba directly:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

    Hello

It will be interesting to know what A100 you exactly.

Just for example: I have A100 (PSAA9) with Windows XP Home edition. If you check the document instructions facilities on order page and Toshiba support facilities, you'll see that battery Toshiba BT must be installed initially and monitor BT later.

Sorry, but I think that there is no software Toshiba problem but maybe you even. Please check it out in the future.

  • Satellite A100 hangs after hibernation / suspension

    Hello

I have a new A100 with Vista installed. Everything works fine, but there are two REALLY boring problems.

    1. after the suspension or wintering, Vista often hangs when you try to connect to internet/network. I know it's a question that I've seen other people writing similar things on other sites. Y at - it a cure?

    2. When blocking down after using the net, I am often a message that Adobe Reader has a lot of open pages and I can't stop.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Vista often hangs when you try to connect to internet/network
(1.) you want to tell the WLan or LAN?
It's not easy to offer the solution in this case believe me Dimitri. Test and Binder are what you could do, what version of BIOS do you use? Check if the new version is available on the Toshiba page. Sometimes, the update of the BIOS might help.
Further, you can try to disable the option in energy-saving Wlan/Lan Card properties and try to update the drivers.

2.) this only happens on my laptop 2 different. But I don t use the Vista but XP.
From time to time I m not able to stop because a message appears saying: Adobe acrobat reader runs in the background and can not close.
In this case, you can try to reinstall the software Adobe reader and try to clean the registry with an application of part 3.
Additional you may stop loading the acrobat reader at the beginning. Simply remove the entry from the registry RUN acrobat reader
