Satellite A100-289: after 5.1 Bios Update powerfault on usb device

Hey, I have trouble after you install the Bios Version 5.1 on a Satellite A100-289.

First: there is NO external USB device connected!
After the awakening of the laptop Sleepmode , I received a message in Windows XP the a power fault has been detected on one of the USB devices. A dialog box opens and I can "reset" the device.

This only happens after that the laptop is awake in sleepmode, perhaps to Hibernate, but not when the laptop starts. It seems that everything works well, but this post makes me nervous.

Can someone tell me, what is going in this box?

What about Mirko

Hello

5.1 BIOS was designed for Vista but it should (or it works) also with XP!

However, you could try updating the BIOS with the other BIOS version that is operating system independent
or / and you can try to disable the power save option for USB ports in Device Manager.

It's all them very disappointing and a large size of time and money.

    > The Bios update has not completed and now the laptop does not at all.
That s it Plains really looks like the module ROM was not properly flashed.
I think it's a problem with the hardware, since you had problems before the update of the BIOS.
I think that affected the procedure for updating the BIOS.

    > As the warranty is cancelled, I now buy a chip of bios in China and I'm now looking for the bios file.
Forget it mate ROM module cannot be replaced in most cases the module ROM must be flashed with a disc of crisis

Would recommend asking a Toshiba ASP for help and reflash the BIOS using the disc of the crisis.
This should not be very expensive

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

  • Last updated by Satellite A100-289 with a new CPU and additional RAM

Hello. Sorry for my English in advance :) I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-289. Despite I am satisfied with the laptop, it is possible for me to update, so I have a few questions on this topic.

Fact laptop support Modules-SO-DIMM 2 GB of RAM? Also, what mobile CPU is supported for upgrade? Is it possible to replace the Core 2 Duo T5500 (default), with a few other Core 2 Duo processor, such as T7400, T7600, T7700? And if I install a new processor, it will influence the energy consume and warming temperatures drastically?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

with regard to your question: Yes you can.
Usually your chipset is capable of a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but due to the limitation of the slots (Slot 1 cannot handle a 1 GB module), you can move only to 2 GB maximum, because your machine has only 2 slots.

And what with your CPU? You can certainly try, but you won´t have a lot of luck. Excluding the small fact that each machine has it s own system of cooling for the processor which is equipped with this machine.
the won´t CPU run at full speed.

Why not? The problem is and now speak from experience;) that when you replace the processor in a processor intel pentium M or Core(2 Duo) system, something in the bios change, then the new processor
will not properly recognized. And then the old? Nope. After you swap the CPU, you will have to bring your machine to an ASP.

They have software that reactive something in the BIOS and the CPU runs at full speed. Since then they to the ASP will notice that you tried to Exchange something in the Board of Directors,
you will face a cancellation of the guarantee and you will have to pay for everything that happens to be broken after the revocation.

So I propose: update your RAM, but don t touch your CPU.

    Have a nice weekend

  • Satellite A100 does not start after the wrong Bios Update

Yesterday, I upgraded my BIOS of 1.90 to 2.20 for VISTA... now, apparently, I downloaded the BIOS bad a100 to my A100 (PAAS...)

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

I'm sorry to say, but it seems that you don't have the choice.
You can ask him authorized partner in your country for the help that I know, BIOS update errors are not covered by a warranty and you will have to pay a small fee for fixing.

In the worst cases, the motherboard must be replaced:(mais peut-être avez_vous une évasion chanceuse et seulement la puce ROM doit être flashée à nouveau)

  • Satellite A100-920 - after updating the BIOS, it does not start

    Hi all

I've updated the BIOS of my laptop to V6.0 (excerpt from the Toshiba site) then Windows XP and it went well, then Setup wanted to restart the PC.
But restarts, he won't have in the startup process. I can not access the start menu, or anything else by clicking F2 or F12. But could go the detailed process by clicking on escape. And there I see the following messages:

    Phoenix TrustedCore (TM)
    V6.0
    Version.Mak - r1.53
detects the dual core [email protected]

No TPM or TPM has problem.
    1023 M system RAM passed

    And that's all.
I can not get older versions of BIOS, and I couldn't find the version of the version 6.0 update that I could put on a CD for an another BIOS update.

Anyone has an idea on what is wrong? And if you find that it's to do with version 6.0 and I need a previous version, please could you send me the installation files that are necessary to do the update via a CDROM.

    Thanks for your help.

It is unclear to me that you can do the BIOS update using CDROM. The BIOS updates are designed to be done under operating systems. Old traditional updates have been a little different.

In any case, it seems that the BIOS chip is damaged. I can imagine this downgrade can help but where to find the old version. I know you can get it from the authorized service provider. they have access to the database of Toshiba and they can download the old version of the BIOS.

The download page is just the latest version available.

  • Satellite L40 - 14 H - do not start after the successful BIOS update

    Hello

I have Satellite L40 - 14 H which was working fine until I thought to an update of the BIOS will not hurt. Seems I was wrong.

I downloaded the update to the BIOS, it unzipped in a folder and started the action.

After a few seconds was asked to wait, and then after few more firm.

After the reboot, I pressed F2 to enter the BIOS and check that it is version everything was fine, version 2.0 so was I left once the parameters.

    After that, nothing happened.

I almost tried everything without success. Removed the power and battery power, put their back, but still no start. Just the light of the HARD drive lights up for a few seconds and the cd turns a bit, but after that nothing happens at all and completely the screen is black.

I don't know anything else to try.

Please let me know what that can do to restore its functionality without taking it to the service, I can't do it.
I think that may not be cause of failure of the BIOS update I have seen it is the version and was right.
Is it possible to reset the BIOS? I need to disassemble the laptop to do this?
Let me know what to do, I have good experience in such things, but I can't understand this.

Thanks in advance for any response.

    Kind regards
    Stefan

    Hello

I agree with Akuma. It really isn't that you can do about it. BIOS problems are complex and cannot be set by the owner of the laptop. Believe me you need professional help with this.
Contact the closest Toshiba ASP and explain the situation.

  • Satellite L750-A218 - fan run faster after 3.30 BIOS update

    Hello

Here's a new show, I have am experiencing after the BIOS update.

In my view, that the internal fans turn all the time by placing my hands near the keyboard. According to Toshiba software fan speed is 50% + while I do nothing. On the other hand, it is 25% before the update.

They are updating the BIOS to give the laptop more ventilation or something.
It's weird. CPU temperature is 45%. I upgraded from 3,00 to 3.30, for your information. Thank you.

P.S. The speed of the fan is stuck at 50% + and wont go lower than that.

What bothers me the most is that when I put my hands on the part at rest I feel the vibrations of the fans. I use the keyboard a lot and it is a huge nuisance. Is it possible to get the old BIOS, the BIOS updated not did me not a backup option. Also, I don't have a problem with the voice of fan (s). Its low.

Edit: Just downgraded to 3.10. Its the same thing. Couldn't find the 3.00 version, I've had anywhere. It's frustrating.

  • No DVD-ROM after recovery - Satellite A100-289

I recently had my A100-289 expedition in for repair. A few days later the unit returned to me with a new motherboard.
Unfortunately my OS has not started, so I got it from the DVD.

Once you have completed the recovery process, Windows MCE prompted with the "new hardware found" - Assistant, who wanted to install a driver for the DVD drive. Usually you don't need drivers for these, do you think?

After searching in vain the net for several hours, I tried to recover once more, then maybe the problem would disappear by itself, but unfortunately this was not the case, not even after the third recovery.

I tried to install on a clean install disc that I used on my desktop before, just to see if it works and then uninstall it. What can I say? It didn't work anyway :(
I am writing from said computer laptop on which I have installed as secondary to Mandriva Linux 2008 operating system. The DVD player works perfectly here.

I concluded it must be a software problem, which has to do with Windows maybe, there is a way to solve it, but I don't have a working solution yet, although I tried to uninstall and reinstall both driver and drive several times without success.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

First of all if you are able to install one operating system and then the CD/DVD drive works and surely it s not a hardware issue.
Then you should check the Device Manager after installing the recovery CD if there is no yellow exclamation point.
Then you must remove the drive from Device Manager and should access the registry.

It to completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    and then restart the laptop.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100 PSAA8K stuck in the BIOS after that the BIOS is flashed

    Hi all

I used the utility to update the BIOS of Toshiba on this machine. It was working fine before, now it is blocked with the Toshiba Startup logo. Pressing F2 or F12 don't work. Pressing ESC. Gives the following error. No TPM or TPM has problem. Everything else seems as usual. It shows the BIOS 6.00, which is what I had in theory flashed to.

I guess the flash gone bad. Is there a disaster for this recovery procedure?

    Hi guys

It seems really turned something went wrong during the BIOS update process.
Perhaps a new module ROM BIOS flashing could solve this problem.

The point is that you need a BIOS version of special rescue and the drive to reflash the module ROM.
But only the authorized service provider has such special rescue tool and only the ASP technician can reflash the BIOS.

So maybe it's not a real solution but a tip how to get a solution
I would recommend so contact the ASP in your country for the control of the laptop and a reflash BIOS.

    Best regards & good luck

  • Satellite L40 PSL48L: No noise and Bios Update after installing XP

    Hai guys

I have a toshiba laptop psl48l-0200u and lowered the score on XP Professional, but realtek audio does not work.
At the launch of the facility, there is an error message "realtek audio installation failed.

I think that this may have to do something with bios - then I downloaded Bios for XP and extracted into a folder - but the update of the bios.

    Help, please
    Thank you

What to first say if you installed XP on your laptop, then you should also update the BIOS to the version of Win XP.
The BIOS update must be performed on Windows XP!
Simply run the exe file and follow the instructions on the screen.

    Regarding the sound issue.
Well this problem is not related to the BIOS, but you have not installed the XP patches!

Have you checked this forum for a similar question? I don t think so.
    I found this example:

    or this

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?MessageID=113124

As you can see, you need fixes KB888111 and KB835221

This means that you install RAM modules while the laptop is running?
I m wondering your laptop still works. Normally, you could destroy the whole motherboard and the module.

Anyway, to me it sounds like that your laptop isn't compatible with the memory modules vive. What modules do you have exactly?
I have good experiences with the Kingston modules.
