Satellite A100-692: after an error of installation of Windows XP Prof blue

Hello

I bought a new satellite A100-692 with Windows XP Home OEM as an operating system.
But when I tried to access the internet using the local area network and a Proxy Server, it does not work.

I tried everything I knew and even ask some Forums to get a response, but nothing help.
Then I think it can work when I install Windows XP Prof instead of the OEM Version. Because all Clients in our network work fine with it.

But when I run the Installer (booting from CD) I get a blue screen with the message that there is a problem with the PCI (pci.sys) driver (after loading all the drivers).

Can someone tell what I need to do so that I can install another OS?

Thank you

PS: Excuse me if my English is not very good ;)

Hello

First of all, the blue screen error message may appear due to hardware failure or serious malfunction of software.
In your case I guess that it s a software issue because on the version OEM pre-installed, everything worked properly.

In addition I checked the site s driver and it seems that there are drivers for 3 different notebooks to A100. In this case, you should be sure that you use the correct drivers.
As far as I checked this laptop your A100-692 has PSAA9E number.

But have you created a CD of drivers & tools before formatting the HARD drive? This option you will find in the assistance of Toshiba.

However, you can download the drivers from the Toshiba site and here it is very important that these drivers will be installed in the right order!
The chipset utility must be installed in a first time after all installations of service packs.
The common modules are also important.

  • Satellite A100 - 692 PSAA9E: what is the max memory

Can someone tell me how I can put in my book "A100-692 PSAA9E" memory?

On the Internet there are pages which provide that 4 GB is the maximum amount of memory, whereas the manual says that 2 GB is max amount (the manual seems to be made for a group of individual booklets and also indicates
my laptop should have a GForce but there a GFX ATI card).

If 4 GB is the maximum amount, can I go with the memory following constellation? :

    2GB Stick Port 1
    512 MB key Port 2

Also can I use Ram DDR2 - 667 Mhz instead of 533 Mhz Ram and or a mixture thereof?

This chipset is the Satellite A100-692 supports?
If it s a Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset PM then it would support the 4 GB of RAM

    Here the details on the Intel page;
    [Intel 945 PM Chipset Express | http://www.intel.com/products/notebook/chipsets/945pm/945pm-overview.htm]

But the fact is that there are different laptop A100 with different hardware specifications and so there is different information about the possible RAM Upgrade.

However, I think that you will not be able to use the full 4 GB of RAM due to Win 32 bit limitations. The 32-bit OS can use max 3.2 GB

  • Satellite A100-692 - how to reduce graphic memory?

    Hello!
I'm looking for information how to reduce graphic memory. I have Satellite A100-692, PSAA9E-09900QGR and install 1024Mo RAM but 512 MB is dedicated to graphics memory. Because of this I have 512 MB of RAM in real-time only.
I would change it. Should be spend of only 256 MB memory graphics. I checked the BIOS (ver. 2.00) and graphic drivers and anywhere is option for memory graphic change.

    Please help how do.

    Hello

You described your situation, but this seems very strange.
As far as I know, the laptop uses a 128 MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 1400 graphics card and this isn't a memory sheared graphics card!
This card uses own 128 MB and must share main memory!

I put t know why you suggested that you have only 512 MB.
    How did you test it?

I got an error 0xc0000221 installation of Windows 7 64 bit on HP 15-r103ne.  I changed the HARD because its gone bad original disc and cannot be formatted. I tried to install windows 7 64 bit several times but I always had an error after the first reboot, and never fill the installion. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    @DidokB,

Thanks for posting back.  The other drives must have some sort of issue if they all failed to install.  If you have to install on the last of them, then is not the operating system recovery or the laptop.

With some drives, there could be questions that are not connected to bad sectors.  It may be something with reading / writing system.

Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • Satellite A100-192: after Vista installation HARD disk capacity has decreased

I am a user of Satellite A100-192 with 120 GB hard drive. After I installed Vista Ultimate, I saw this total capacity of my hard drive completely passed to 92, 8 GB instead of 120 GB while it was XP.

What can be the problem? How can I reach the other capabilities of my hard drive?

    Hello

Vista needs and used 2 partitions. The second partition is not visible and it s necessary to Vista backup and restore functions.
Maybe you have verified that the size of the first partition (C) and didn't note the size of the second partition.

Vista now shows it in as unknown device manager; the TOS1900 showed up too, but after installation of Toshiba Value Pack for Vista, it went.

    Help, please. WHICH IS: ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

  • Satellite A100 Recovery CD Wizard Error Code: F3-FFFF-0008

I just bring a Satellite A100 and a problem by performing a full restore using the two supplied with my laptop recovery disks.

The problem came after I deleted all partitions on the hard drive and then reformatted the entire hard drive.

I get on the above error code, stated in the following format:

    ERROR: F3-FFFF-0008
    An error has occurred
Please press [OK] to turn on the power the computer off.

When I try to use the Recovery Wizard.

I will be grateful if someone can help me on this one.

I agree with the previous user. I think it's a matter of formatting of s.
Try to boot from the original Windows XP CD. This would format the HARD drive again.
Then use the Toshiba Recovery CD again!

I noticed these problems installing several times and bad HARD drive format has been mostly a reason for similar problems

  • Satellite A100-289: after 5.1 Bios Update powerfault on usb device

Hey, I have trouble after you install the Bios Version 5.1 on a Satellite A100-289.

First: there is NO external USB device connected!
After the awakening of the laptop Sleepmode , I received a message in Windows XP the a power fault has been detected on one of the USB devices. A dialog box opens and I can "reset" the device.

This only happens after that the laptop is awake in sleepmode, perhaps to Hibernate, but not when the laptop starts. It seems that everything works well, but this post makes me nervous.

Can someone tell me, what is going in this box?

    What about Mirko

    Hello

5.1 BIOS was designed for Vista but it should (or it works) also with XP!

However, you could try updating the BIOS with the other BIOS version that is operating system independent
or / and you can try to disable the power save option for USB ports in Device Manager.

  • Keyboard Satellite A100-906 after spilled drink

    Hello

I am owner of a Satellite A100-906 and I spilled liquid on the keyboard.
As I read on the official website of the product, the keyboard is the spill-resistant.
If I have understood correctly, the keyboard is covered by the warranty in case of spilled liquid.
    Is this fair?

    Thanks in advance,

    Maria

    Hello

I think you had something misunderstanded:

The keyboard is resistant to the spill, but that doesn´t means that it keeps water away from the machine. After checking Asian toshiba website, I found the following description:

    "A keyboard resistant splashes that increase the protection of the system by providing users with enough time to save their work and shut down the system in the case of a spill;

That means the keyboard prevents only the liquids to invade quickly into the machine, but that doesn´t means that the keyboard is covered by the warranty after any spillage of liquids on your machine.

    Welcome them

P.s.: That all means you will be charged for repair...

  • Satellite A100 - ODD can't read Win7 installation CD

I have a pro satellite and the satellite a100. I bought a disc of microsoft to replace XP with windows 7 on the a100.

The a100 dvd player will not recognize the drive of w7 but he reads audio and video discs very well.

The satellite pro recognizes the drive of w7 so I think there may be a problem with the dvd-a100 player or its parameters. Can anyone help please?

    Hello

There is nothing wrong with the settings because there is no special parameters to read a disc.
If the optical drive does not read the disc, then the disc or the CD/DVD drive isn't OK.

As the disc works in relation to another optical disc drive, I suppose that the s drive laser lens can not handle support for Windows 7.

According to my experience of the issues may appear due to the dirty laser lens.
I recommend you to clean the laser lens using cotton tip and liquid alcohol.

In many cases, this work around simply helped to get the drive recognized again.

Consider me the thickie Pack 1... Not sure wot im talkin end but n e way...
    Have a Satellite A100 570 (PSAA2E)...

Tried several websites online lookin for memory upgrade. Did not have the witt to use the toshiba site... Eventually get to the point...
Ran the Diagnostics on laptop and sent module one needed.or so I thought... wrong 1 or 1 s I bought 2 x 1 G modules in order to 'double '...

Got my money because they were not compatible with my system... something to do with the problems of density...
Tried company called OFFTEK... they seemed to know what they were talkin' about... I'm Offtek. at present one...

    200-pin 1.8V SoDimm PC2 - 4200 DDR2... but Toshiba recommended below...

    1 GB memory DDR2 PC2-4300 (533 MHz)

    1024 MB (1 GB) memory PC2 - 4300 DDR2 (533 MHz)

Don't know what is supposed to happen if the module works... IE launch message... dunno if windows recognizes module 1 G...

    Hey Buddy

    Have a look here:
    Memory for Toshiba Satellite A100-570
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=23658&ft=m&St=3

You can use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM bars!

The pc2-4300 Rams are the same as PC2-4200. It s just a marketing gag PC2-4300 are PC2-4200 modules that can be overclocked by some versions of BIOS PC desktop

However, you must take the PC2-4200.

I downloaded and installed a new driver for my model, but it does not work.

    Hello

You should try to remove the devices that they are marked with a yellow exclamation point. Start Notepad, and then install the latest drivers from the Toshiba site.

If the virus has destroyed an important system files that it s is no longer possible to install a driver and you need to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.

Did you create the Toshiba Recovery disk? You can do this with the Toshiba recovery disc creator, which is preinstalled on your laptop. Maybe you are able to do this at the moment.
In addition, you reinstall Windows using the recovery of HARD drive option. So go to the advanced boot menu and select Repair my computer. Some Windows files will be loaded and then you can choose the Toshiba Recovery option and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you can t create the recovery disk, you must order a new Toshiba directly:

  • Re: Satellite A100-692 - how to replace the CD/DVD drive?

    Hello

the device DVD/combined my A100-692 is damaged and I want to replace it.
I found no still no guide how to replace the unit.

    Is there something available?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

AFAIK, you must remove the keyboard first, before you can replace the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws on the lower side, and then you can push the disc if you have replaced the keyboard.
It seems to be a bit tricky

Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help. They can replace the CD/DVD drive for you.

    Good bye

  • Update of a Satellite A100-692 with an another RAM or CPU?

    Hello

can I use 667 MHZ ram in my a100-692 and he'll run at 667 MHZ or slow 533?

And can I upgrade my cpu (duo core 1.66 ghz) core 2 duo or core 2quad?

You can use 667 Mhz in your machine, but it will not work on 667 Mhz, because the FSB is running with only 533 Mhz since these models are just call 533 Mhz due to problems of mobile (powersaving, heat generation, etc)

And no, you can't spend your CPU because the Bios does not support it, also the cooling system of your machine is specially designed for a couple of CPU´s that were shipped only with the model of your laptop computer.

Furthermore, if you really swap the CPU, you will lose your warranty.
