Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 and installing XP

I bought this laptop and Vista has been installed. I went to hell hollow until I finally managed to remove it (found help on this forum). But I still need help. Here's what I did.

I was in a place of friends and we copied Matrix Storage Manager on a floppy disk and loaded, and we finally got to the screen where you can remove particions. We have removed all (there was 3 partitions), then turned off the power because I wanted to install XP Home. When I came home I tried to install XP but I get once more the screen "Setup did not... hard drive units. ». Fine. I wanted to repeat everything we did at my friend's house using the disk the same exact, but the screen still appears. I did everything the manual told me:

-----
3. for Windows XP or later operating systems:

At the beginning of the installation of the operating system, press F6 to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver.

When you are prompted, select' to specify an additional device.

5. When you are prompted, insert the floppy disk or medium (floppy, CD/DVD, or USB) created in step 2 and press ENTER.

6. at this point, you should be presented with a selection for one of the following values depending on your version of the hardware and configuration:

Intel(r) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH7M)

7. Select the selection that is appropriate for the hardware on your system, and then press ENTER.

8. press ENTER to continue. * Leave the floppy disk in the system until the next reboot * because the software will need to be copied from the floppy again when the installation program copies the files.

-----

When I press ENTER, this last time, the system does not restart, but he wants to continue the installation of XP. I use another version of XP that I did to my friends, but it doesn't it? My friends was XP Pro SP2 June, September (tested on many PCs) mine is XP Pro SP2. The problem that it is not all the partitions and the Storage Manager has no where to copy the files? Or should I reboot when it's done loading for the floppy drive? Any response would be apreciated a lot because the laptop must be ready by tomorrow. Thank you in advance.

Hello, I have the same laptop and I installed Windows XP Pro and it works very well by the way.
The solution to your problem is to nLite. With this program, you can integrate the intel AHCI ic8m drivers that are needed. If you do not have to press f6 during installation of XP. www.nLite.com

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 with a 32-bit, windows vista, who bought about 4 years ago. He became extremely slow and crashes on a regular basis. I want to format the C drive and reinstall windows vista. Afterwards, I'm going to re - install all drivers. I have questions about the process

    1. I have the recovery disk provided by Toshiba. Is this enough to do what I need from higher up? Also she's windows, because I checked the drive and could not find the Windows Setup files

    2. the recovery process reformatted all the partitions or only my windows drive (C :). I prefer if it puts only C: drive and not the other readers. However, I am still back up all just in case readers

    Thanks for the help.

    Hey,.

Yes, to format the C drive and reinstall Windows with the drivers and tools of Toshiba, the recovery disk is sufficient. Factory settings will be restored on your computer in order to have the same settings as you purchased the computer.

Recovery disk reformatted the whole HARD disk, so you must all on another drive to backup and a backup of all important files should always be made only before reinstalling Windows ;)

    Hello

    Regarding the point * 1: *.
The "PCI memory controller" or "Mass Storage Controller means the former Turbo Memory module Robson." This feature is only available on Vista, and that's why drivers are not available for Win XP.

    Check this box:

  • Satellite A200 - 1 GB - trying to install Windows XP Home edition but without HARD drive?

    Hello world!

Recently, I bought a new laptop, Satellite A200 - 1 GB, and after two weeks of fighting against windows Vista I decided to uninstall it and install WXP whose permit, I bought a long time ago.

I restarted my computer with the Windows XP cd to the inside and I start the system with it, but when it loads all the controllers and I proceed with the installation of windows xp, it says that there is no disk (probably) in my laptop.

I hope someone can help me. Someone at - it windows XP installation experience in this laptop model?

    Hello

The species has been described several times here in the forum of Toshiba.
Recommend studying a little ;) would use the advanced search option Forum!

But because you're a beginner, that I'll try to give some useful advice.
The HARD drive is not visible because you need to first install the Intel Matrix storage controller.
This controller can be downloaded form or another page Toshiba or Intel page.

During the installation of XP, you will need to press the F6 key to include this iMSM in the XP installation. You will need an external USB HDD drive to do this.

But if you want, you can build an own XP CD using nLite software and could understand this iMSM in the XP CD again.

I have the latest drivers and all the vista updates. This first grit in the first I used it (with no other software installed).

Can someone help me with this?
    Thank you

    > Sometimes it reverses the colors of the screen and starts the image starts to shake

Didn t see something similar and to be honest I don't think that this could be related software.
I would say that the dysfunction of the LCD or part as FL-ups or something like that.

I think that you shouldn't t waste time for an investigation and should contact the ASP to the extent possible.
Guys should check the laptop and if necessary should replace defective parts.

The guarantee seems to be valid so don t be worried. It should cover everything!

  • Satellite A200 - change in BIOS, so installing XP after Vista

    Hello!

I have a Satellite A200-1SM and I would like to install an os win XP (for the moment, I'm working with Vista and the latest BIOS for this system). Do I have to Flash the BIOS of my motherboard or this step is simply an option that I don't have to do it because XP works fine without him?

    Thx for the help :).

    Hello

The number of threads here on this forum, you will find discussions on this subject.

You can use Windows XP Home edition on your laptop without the BIOS upgrade, but you will not have the full support of WXP. This means that you probably won't be able to use all the features of FN keys. If you want to have the full functionality of Windows XP Home edition, you must upgrade the BIOS to version 5.20, I think. Find out on the Toshiba BIOS download page.

  • Satellite A200-1SM is slow after installing Vista

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Satellite A200-1sm computer.
Yesterday I installed Alcohol 120% program and something happened.
My computer stoped working and a restart and blue screen.

After that, I installed the Windows Vista again and installed the driver.
My processor is slow (before this happened was 3.8 after 4.6 and 4.5 memory after 2.7) and my memory is slow.

    Help

    Hello

I installed the tool Alcohol 120% a few months ago too and as far as I know this software creates virtual drives and you can emulate max 31 readers.

I m not 100% sure, but maybe this could be the reason for your BSOD issues possibly the software isn't 100% compatible with vista OS.

However, after installation since the laptop recovery CD uses the factory settings and should work fine. I don t think that your laptop works done slower, is that Toshiba picture (from recovery CD) contains a large number of programs that regulates the functions of the laptop and run in the background of the OS. These processes need resources from the laptop, and so the Vista experience index may change.

This is why I am 100% sure that your laptop is ok.

You should visit the Websites of Microsoft and should read a little about this index, and how it works.

    Good bye

  • Features of the Satellite A200 they stay if I install 3rd party software?

    I have a question:
I have a laptop Satellite A200 and my software is lost and I want to install a different but not the same (for example buy one by my).
The features of Toshiba will remain?

    Hello

I can't say with certainty that your 3rd party software will not affect the preinstalled Toshiba tools and utilities.
I mean, everything is possible and I had many problems with various 3rd party applications, but generally, there should be no problem.

  • Satellite A200-1CR - black screen and no boot

    Model:
    Toshiba Satellite A200-1CR

    Question:
By pressing the power button to power on the computer for a full boot, the power LED lights up but still black screen (not even of lighting). The logo led 'Satellite' in the lower left corner of the chassis remains off while the HARD drive has made a unique quick snap; DVD activity led (the device) always remains on even without any CD inserted, by pressing the eject button do nothing (status bar is locked) and no sounds of activity.
No logo screen of boot (show stays), not of beeps dark and wide, no DVD or HARD disk activity, keyboard seems does not (all combinations that should light up an led, capslock, numlock, etc, does nothing), the fan works.

I have already (without success) tried:
-Unlock the tray, insert the rescue CD and power on
-Remove the main battery and power on with AC adapter only
-Insert a bootable USB stick/external HARD drive

The computer worked as expected the day before and there has not been any kind of shock. Described is the situation I faced when I turned on the next time (only 24 hours later).

    What could be wrong?
    Thank you.

    > By pressing the power button to power on the computer for a full boot, the power led turns on but screen stays black

Well, looks like hardware problem; Maybe the memory problem or something serious with the mother or the CPU. It of really difficult to say what could cause this.
You can try to check the RAM modules.
Trying to start using a maybe only module, it is useful in the case otherwise I fear, you will need assistance from technicians Toshiba ASP m

  • Satellite A200-1 s 5 - cannot install driver LAN after installation of Windows 7

I have a laptop Toshiba A200-1 s 5, serial number: X7357433K. I just installed Windows 7 and downloaded and installed all the drivers of Toshiba laptop. I have no problem device in the system information screen.

In Device Manager, the cards I have that the "Intel (r) PRO/Wireless' network. When I install the downloaded driver for LAN (lan-20091103092515) it says "Realtek LAN Driver V7.003.0522.2009", but I can't not under network adapters - I don't know where he's going? I can't find everything Realtek device in Device Manager. Needles to say works Wireless LAN, LAN does not work.

Connectivity doctor shows Wireless Lan, Dial-up Modem and Bluetooth, but no LAN. Trying to load the driver from Realtek - does not help. -message: the device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)
I even tried to install from Realtek and update the driver for lan-20091103092515 - same error Code 31.

    Hey Buddy,

You have an unknown device in Device Manager? This could be the missing LAN card

Also check if there are devices hidden in Device Manager. So open the Device Manager and go to view > show hidden devices.

Normally, you should now see the LAN card and then you can update the driver.

  • Satellite A200: no mode 'sleep' and ignores switch screen off time.

I recently bought a Satellite A200. It does not have a 'sleep' mode and power settings do not seem to work. for example, I put the screen turns off after x minutes and he ignores it.

    Any help gratefully accepted.

You have a series of European Satellite A200 If Yes, then I don't know if the 0 button would recover your m system
The recovery CD would be necessary in your case.

But by pressing 0 and using the recovery CD would be to format the HARD drive. So in both cases the data backup would be necessary.

  • How do I uninstall Satellite L300 - 11 q Vista and install Windows XP

    Hello!

Please help: How do I uninstall Windows Vista from my laptop and install Windows XP?
Should I do something with discs and seized BIOS, or I can just format C drive and then install XP CD-drive?

How can I make a recovery disk before you uninstall Vista?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

It's very easy if you want to get rid of Vista simply boot from the Windows XP CD, format the HARD drive and install XP on partition C instead of Vista.
    That s it.

I put t know what laptop have you but the laptop most recent are equipped with the SATA controller and the SATA driver must be installed or included in the CD of Win XP to install XP on the HARD drive. The SATA driver is part of the Manger of Intel Matrix Storage, which can be downloaded from the Intel site or page of the Toshiba driver.

Just FYI; in this forum, you can find a lot of details in the various messages on the Intel storage Manger. Just use the search option.
