  I recently bought a used Toshiba Satellite A30-514.
  I checked and got everything works except the sound and wireless WLAN. I learned that with the wireless, there is no card so that I hope that the problem has been resolved.

  Now to the sound issue.
  I checked all the way through the sound settings, try the things usual e.g uninstall Realtec AC97 audio and sourcing the driver on the Toshiba site and install again, although when 80% through it causes an error while it just goes right to 100%.
  In the Device Manager it happens now with the yellow exclamation point and the properties now show that this device cannot start (code 10) location: PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5.
  It comes up with no device in the sounds and audio devices.
  I tried upgrading the bios (already the most recent) and tried to uninstall and reinstall, but does not work on anything!

  Please someone help ive spend a whole day faced with my brain, but nothing helps, I hope that someone had the same problem and knows more to help, I will be much appreciated if you can help.

  1. the switch does nothing; push or pressed.
  2. every six seconds a motor turns for a second
  3. in the six second gaps the disk and CD lights flashing briefly, and there is a slight click

  5. the screen shows nothing
  6. I tried to get to the BIOS (ESC, F1, F2, Del, F12) - nothing.
  7. a bootable CD in the drive does nothing.

  In my view, there is nothing that you can do it alone. The laptop must be verified with special diagnostics tools. Ask your friend did it last days with this laptop.

  To give you a precise answer, it will be interesting to know what DVD is not readable. Meaning of the word "media" is in general and not helpful to understand the problem.

  Satellite A30 is old enough laptop model, and it is possible that the WEIRD feature is not good more. You can try to clean the lens.

  Why suggest that peut t BIOS recognizes the drive? Is it not possible to boot from the drive?
  Check if the IDE controller is enabled and the Boot section. The CD/DVD drive should be selected and activated.

  I think the solution is to re-download the modem driver and test.

  and click on Download & Driver.

  After downloading, you will need to unzip the file and start the installation. Another way to install the driver is the .inf. file, go to the Control Panel, system, hardware and Device Manager. Then go into the question mark that is the modem, and tell the driver. Here you have to choose to do it manually and when the wizard you asks to search for the file, go to the folder driver and click the file inf. complete the wizard and the pilot should work

• Satellite A30: Does not recognize USB devices.

  My computer does not recognize any devices when connected to the USB Port on my Satellite A30. After downloading SP2, I was able to install the printer, but I can't use it because there is no printer icon in the toolbar. If I want to print something I get the window of the printer, select printing, then it goes to the author of the Image of MS Office. Basically, I can't use my printer or any other device connected to a USB port.

  However, it was working perfectly fine when I had the home edition of XP but I can not reinstall this one because there is something wrong with the recovery disk that's why I had to install XP Pro.
  Also, I used to get a sound, letting me know that a device has been connected. I get more or the icon in the toolbar.

  Is that what I could do to fix this please? Is it possible to get another disc of recovery somehow? Obviously, it's something to do with XP Pro software, but I don't know what to do.

  Do you use a recovery CD or original copy? Satellite A30 is a unit old enough and I wonder since when you noticed this problem?

  Currently, I am trying to upgrade my Windows 7 32bits Satellite L650 PSK1JA-0ED017 for windows 7 64 bit.

  I created a bootable USB device and borrowed a friend installation disc, and both do the same thing. When I try to boot from them, I see the Toshiba page, then "Windows is loading files ' with a bar grey that fills, and then it goes to the page"Starting Windows"for about 2 seconds before restarting.

  I saw some posts of the forum in which people with Satellites from Windows 8 for Windows 7 will need to disable UEFI to make this work, however my BIOS got no option to disable startup secure or activating / deactivating UEFI/CSM. I updated the BIOS to the most recent update (Insyde 2.40) but that made no difference.

  I can always start the computer normally using my HARD drive, however the whole point of this exercise was to leave with more RAM and an SSD, which is currently sitting useless on my desk.

  I think that there is a problem with the USB bootable device. Maybe you made a mistake when creating the boot device.

  On the other hand, it could also be a problem with the lack of SATA driver. In some cases of Win 7 Setup does not recognize the HARD drive and this requires a SATA driver
