Satellite L650 won't drive/USB boot

Hi all

Currently, I am trying to upgrade my Windows 7 32bits Satellite L650 PSK1JA-0ED017 for windows 7 64 bit.

I created a bootable USB device and borrowed a friend installation disc, and both do the same thing. When I try to boot from them, I see the Toshiba page, then "Windows is loading files ' with a bar grey that fills, and then it goes to the page"Starting Windows"for about 2 seconds before restarting.

I saw some posts of the forum in which people with Satellites from Windows 8 for Windows 7 will need to disable UEFI to make this work, however my BIOS got no option to disable startup secure or activating / deactivating UEFI/CSM. I updated the BIOS to the most recent update (Insyde 2.40) but that made no difference.

I can always start the computer normally using my HARD drive, however the whole point of this exercise was to leave with more RAM and an SSD, which is currently sitting useless on my desk.

Thank you very much

Hello

The Satellite L650 contains no UEFI and secure in the BIOS startup option because this laptop from t a Windows 8 isn't. It not was not pre-installed with Win 8 and, therefore, these special
Win 8 options in the BIOS are not available.

I think that there is a problem with the USB bootable device. Maybe you made a mistake when creating the boot device.

On the other hand, it could also be a problem with the lack of SATA driver. In some cases of Win 7 Setup does not recognize the HARD drive and this requires a SATA driver

If I pressed the power button / stop again after that or I pressed again while the light from the lamp of the hard drive and it will start normally. This never happen when I connect the charger with the battery or when I use it with the adapter only.

I changed the battery of the Toshiba, but no way. I changed the power management, made adjustments in power management bios (version 1.8 after I updated), disable, enable certain features in Device Manager but no way.

The more strange that many times it starts normal and other times it does so. Also, this may manifest itself sometimes in long boot times, which means that I sometimes hear fan, see wirless, power lights up and after 10-15 seconds, the hard drive turns on and starts.

    Hello

And that said the guys from the Toshiba warranty Center that could be? Is it a hardware problem or not?

To be honest it is really hard to say something about it, but at the moment for me, it looks like a HARD drive or motherboard problem.

  • Satellite L650-1PF Display driver seems to be corrupted on the ftp site

    Hello

I have a Satellite L650-1PF model and had to reinstall Win7 (64-bit version) because of a disk error.
I tried to find the driver to correct display for this model and got the following file: * display - 20110110152358.zip *.
It is an ATI, version 8.723.2, date of last modification: 01/14/11, see details below.

After you download it, I tried to install it, but still received the following erros message: ' archive has unknown format or it is corrupted. "
I tried unzip it with WinRAR and Total Commander as well on the 2 computers but without success, so for me it seems to be that the original on the OFFICIAL server file is really corrupted.
Who can I report this and ask to update this file?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I downloaded the same file display-20110110152358 and managed to unpack this package.
The package contains the display file and TC50068800G files.
In the display folder, you will find the INFs of the driver for Win 7 system

So it seems the package isn't corrupted.

By the way: I didn't use any special tool. I unzipped the package by using the option of extracting clean windows.

    Computer laptop satellite L650 ~ Windows 7.

I have problems with the laptop being very slow to start for several months until he was able to start. It took to PC World and they said I had a virus and they had reinstalled the software back to the HDD factory settings. Worked well for a few weeks as falied to start. Restored from Windows recovery option by pressing F8 at startup upward. Worked fine for a few weeks until last week. Repeat the process and works very well.

Monday, I installed Adobe Photoshop and Tuesday night cell phone has been slow to start up again, so uninstalled Photoshop. Stop it installed some updates of Windows. Last night, when I walk it came with a messgae saying doing xxxxx of the registry changes, and then could not start. Now when I press F8 and select "Repair your computer" Windows starts to load files and then get to the System Recovery Options ~ Select UK keyboard and press next and then I get a window saying: "you must login to access the System Recovery Options. If you havingtrouble connect, contact your administrator for the computer for assistance. Click OK to restart the computer. »

I did not have this on reinstalls previous and I can't get around it. Help!

If you have created a Windows login password you must use it, otherwise leave it blank and just press OK. Don t change same keyboard layout just click on next.

  • Satellite L650 - won't record discs

    Hello

I got my Satellite L650 for about 6 weeks with no problems and now the first time I try to burn a cd it does not work. I've tried several programs, but all seem to give me a similar error.
I captured the data from the main program I use IMGBurn.
I tried to remove this device from Device Manager and deleting the upperfilters in registry.

    Any suggestions?

    The device information: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/641/capture2sb.jpg/
    IMGBurn error: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/833/capturefgy.jpg/

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi fridgeyeti,

Why you have installed different burning software? Usually a single program is sufficient and that the previous user wrote at the end, nothing works if you install programs so much. It of also advisable to install a single antivirus only and not more.

In your case I remove all burning software and install the latest version of your favorite program, but before installing it, run Ccleaner which s a freeware cleaning tool.

Also remove the upper and lower filters in the registry as described here:

  • Satellite C650 won't turn on / boot (black screen only)

I am having trouble with my year old Satellite C650. In fact, when I go to turn it on it just won't. The power led on the front of the laptop turns on and the fan starts whirring (only to stop a few seconds later), but there is no change to the screen. I tried to take out the battery, restart, connect, disconnect - basically everything I can think of, but nothing made a difference.

Can anyone think a possible solution? I really hope this isn't a hardware problem, but I have a horrible feeling that it looks like this...

    Thank you!

I'm scared of m its hardware problem.
My advice would not apply to a Toshiba service provider in your country that would check the parts.
Your laptop doesn't seem to be old so maybe the warranty is still valid and the fix could be done free of charge.

Today one of the programs from TOSHIBA, that came with my laptop (L650-11F), warned me about an update of the BIOS (v1.80) after download and install my DVD drive disappeared from Win7 and it has a continuous yellow light on it. It does not even open when I press the eject button.

I have however maybe install the old version 1.60 back would help, but TOSHIBA does not keep older drivers version apparently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PoweEdge 2900 won't drive Windows boot

trying to upgrade the hard drive and reinstall the server 08 r2

Windows has taken to always start. Machine starts will start screens black, running with the disc, disc, readings, then on computer restarts automatically.

Machine will start off the coast of anything with windows on it but linux installation disks. C drive still works but super slow start upward

    any ideas?

    Hello

I don't think that this has nothing to do with the server. It there is no BIOS setting or any other configuration I can think of that would cause the start of Linux system, but not Windows.

It is probably a driver problem with the Windows CD/DVD. There is some piece of hardware he's trying to load a driver for. I suggest you disconnect the external USB drives, PCI add-on cards and any other devices that are not required.

  • Satellite L650-1MT - WLan driver for Windows 7 x 64 does not work

    Hallo forum-Member Support,

I reinstalled my windows, because my old hard drive has been damaged. Now I have Windows 7 x 64.
By installing the hardware drivers for the Toshiba homepage, I had a problem with the W - Lan driver.
It has a WiFi Atheros adapter, but the driver does not work. After extracting the window closes and the installation starting.

    What can I do?

Thanks for posting this message here in the forum, but I think that no one would be able to provide more help without knowing the number of laptop model.
What cell phone do you have exactly?
Are you sure that the laptop supports the Atheros Wlan card?

  • Satellite A300 won't any device boot

I have an A300 which do not seem to boot from any device.

When I start it up, I see the splash screen and can get into the BIOS or boot select.
I tried the priority of boot setting for HDD & CD and also chosen to start with the product in the player recovery CD.

However, as soon as it gets past the splash screen I'm just presented with a black screen Uni.
I hear a little activity of CD and the light flashes one or two times but nothing.

Normally, I would expect a prompt to press a key to boot from the CD-ROM.
I tried pressing the button anyway, but this seems to result in a beep by default.

What is the graphics card on the motherboard?

    Hello

    > Could it be the graphics card on the motherboard?

I think it is no matter whether the issue would be linked to the mobo or GPU in both cases, the motherboard needs to be replaced. But if you the region can access the BIOS then the mobo could not be allowed.
But, generally speaking, it sounds like serious hardware problem and I think that it s laptop computer technician time.

In any case, have you tried to boot from different CDs? I mean Linux Live CD or Windows PartBE?
Please check this two discs can be downloaded for free

  • New Satellite L650-108 HARD drive died

    Hello

Two months ago, I bought the laptop mentioned above and while using a few days ago, he went suddenly slow and crashed with a blue screen error. He said he would restart and when he did, he couldn't find the hard drive. I was in the BIOS and it is not listed there, I tried it on another laptop and it didn't work, I tried to put in a basket and that has not worked and I tried a few CD bootable (including Ubuntu Live) and none of them could see the HARD drive. Are there alternative methods that I could use to try to repair?

As he is still relatively new and under warranty, that the process would be send to Toshiba and in-depth how are their controls on the drive? I don't know how much confidence I'm from a stranger, perhaps rooting through the details on my hard drive of things I've heard in the past!

    Thank you.

    > Are there alternative methods, that I could use to try to resolve this?

For me its very clear number and don t think you need other methods to check the HARD drive.
If the HARD drive is not in the BIOS, this means that the HARD drive is dead and must be replaced.

The laptop is under warranty so get in touch with Toshiba ASP (authorized service provider), your country, to get the new HARD drive.
