Satellite A500 - Vista and Windows 7 do not show remaining battery time

I have a Satellite A500-132 PSAM3E and VIsta/Windows 7 do not display battery remain only in %.

This is the case even on my Satellite A210 with installed Win 7.
In my view there s nothing wrong with that, but it is simply a property of Windows 7.
The battery power is displayed in percent

You can use an additional tool like BatteryBar 3.0 in order to display a time...

    Hello

What do you use for security?

If you are using an Internet Security Suite, it will have its own firewall and disables the default Windows Firewall.

And you should have only one firewall to avoid problems related to the operating system.

If so, try a direct download of SP2.

  • Deskjet 710/720/810/820/1000 Series printers - Patch for 64 bit Vista and Windows 7

There is a problem with the 64-bit, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 or 8.1 drivers which causes the spooler crash with the following HP Deskjet printers:

    DeskJet 710

    DeskJet 712

    DeskJet 720

    DeskJet 722

    DeskJet 810

    DeskJet 812

    Deskjet 820

    DeskJet 822

    DeskJet 1000

The attachment contains a fix for this problem for Vista and Windows 7.

[The patch does not work for Windows 8, 8.1, or 10 x 64 systems.  There are efforts to this address, if a solution is developed it will be shown here.  [{Edit - I did not progress by getting the patch to run in Windows 8 x 64.}]

First of all make sure that the driver for the installed printer.  If the driver has not been installed go to start devices and printers, add printer, the local printer, choose the appropriate port (for the converters, USB-parallel, the port likely USB001: or maybe USB002 :), then click Windows Update then choose HP for the manufacturer and select the appropriate printer.)

Apply the patch as follows: log in to the computer with an administrator account.  Download the patch by clicking on this link or on the trombone at the end of this post.  Save the hotfix on your computer, then unzip it.  Then, copy the three DLL files in the following directory: %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3

Note that %windir%\System32 is a system variable that points to the location of the Windows directory. For most systems it will be C:\Windows.  You can click Start, computer, and type %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 in the address bar and it is in the right place.

This can be done from a DOS command prompt if BACK is opened with the "run as Administrator" command or to explore with a copy and paste.  Depending on your UAC settings, you may need to provide confirmation.  Also allow existing files to be replaced if you are prompted.

This patch is not necessary and should not be applied to a 32-bit version of Vista or Windows 7.

Thanks to extraordinary Microsoft engineer Alan Morris forguidelines for patch.

Update - here is that of the more detailed installation instructions:

Download the patch on the DJ_Patch.zip at the bottom of the page and save it on your computer.  Now click on the file and open it, and then extract the fix in a directory that is easy to find. (I use c:\temp. If this directory does not exist you can create it as follows: open the administrative BACK prompts by clicking Start, all programs, accessories, and then right-click on CMD. EXE and select run as administrator. Click in the DOS window, and then type the following command:

    MD c:\temp

    CD \temp

Now extract the patch files in the c:\temp directory (all, extract c:\temp chose as a destination).

[Update - Windows security settings can prevent these files from being used, please open computer, type c:\temp in the address bar and then right click on each of the dll files and select Properties.]  If there is a message indicating the properties file has been downloaded from the internet and can be blocked and then unlock the file before continuing.]

Then, click back to the administrative DOS prompt and type the following: (the green stuff are comments, do not type them...)

*. DLL DIR (just to check that the files are there, it should list hpvdb720.dll, hpvdb820.dll and hpwm5db1.dll and perhaps others).

Net stop spooler (ensures that the files are not in use.)

Copy hpvdb720.dll C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this is for the Deskjet 710/712/720/722)

Copy hpvdb820.dll c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 (this covers the Deskjet 820 and 822)

    Hpwm5db1.dll c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3(this covers the Deskjet 1000 copy)

    NET Start Spooler

    Output

[Edit - note that these DLL files will already be in the directory.  You will get a warning asking if it's OK to replace the files, say "Yes".]

At this point, the patch is installed and ready to print.

Note that here printers do not support USB connections, they have only the parallel ports. [Edit - if your printer has a parallel port to use, it will be probably much less problematic than the use of a converter USB / parallel].   If you use a make you converter USB / parallel it is supported in your operating system.  The following messages are reported by cables USB-parallel that are supposed to work in Windows 7.   A driver is required for the converter USB / parallel besides the driver of the printer.  For converters supported, it is usually provided automatically in Windows 7.  Note: the appropriate to select for USB-parallel converter port is often USB001:.  I've heard of cases where the port was USB002: or LPT3: as well.  If the port you are using is unable (after applying the fix) try to change the port by going to start, devices and printers, right-click on your printer and select printer properties, then click the Ports tab.

Mick4 wrote: the problem is that I only could unzip the 3 dll files but don't know how to replace the bad dll files. Mick 4

If you use Windows 7 do the following: log in as a user with the administrater properties.  [The following assumes that you are using IE as your browser] Click on the here link and select "Save".   Once the download is complete, select "Open folder", then right-click on the DJ_patch.zip file and select extract all.   If extract all is not an option, then click on "Open with" and select Windows Explorer.

Leave the default directory and check the box "Show extracted files when you are finished", excerpt.   Click Start, computer, and type % windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3.  Arrange the windows so that you can access the two parts of the window.  Go in the first pane and select the three files dll, hpvdb720.dll, hpvdb820.dll and hpwm5db1.dll.  Now drag and drop them to the % windir%\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 window, select copy and answer to 'replace' in the dialog box.

Note: %windir%\System32 is a system variable that points to the Windows directory.  For most systems it will be C:\Windows, but it can vary depending on the configuration of NDO of hardware configuration of the computer.  If you type %windir%\SysWoW64\cmd.exe in the address bar in Explorer or in start, search programs and files, it will find the right directory.

  • Desktop SMS and Windows Mail are not working together

    Hello

thought I'd post here here as having a few issues with my Windows Mail but my desktop computer suffers the same problems and on a Vista forum where I posted my problem a few very useful told me who to try to solve the problems.

One of them suddenly realized I had said my laptop is a Toshiba, and apparently the Desktop SMS and Windows Mail are not working together so that the person suggested unless I use it to uninstall apparently amongst the technically trained its known that these two programs do not like each other and explain why my office is not the problem but the laptop don't.

After you have reset the Touch of Windows Mail (tutorial on a site http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/ vista) wood don't be put off by vistax64 as site 32 and 64 and followed great reset Windows Mail from Brink (do not restore all mail) then uninstalled Desktop SMS and touch of the drink no more mail questions that gave me problems almost every day with marking than reading/sending project messages.

So had to click forward then remove those bits and complete the email to send and touch wood since doing these two things as soon as send an email to the box shipment or project to obtain the number of emails in parentheses, whereas before it wouldn't happen unless I closed the program and then reopened.

Hoping that these solutions have solved my problem and wanted to share it with someone else who wants to read this thread and you recommend Vista 64 because they are all very useful there and speak in non-technical terms for those of us not technically trained.

  • Microsoft Outlook is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7?

Is there a way by which Outlook can be installed on a computer, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

We have replacements for Outlook. If so, how to get one?

    Farhad

«Farhad...» "wrote in message News: 05c1a45d-b7ab-4b99-8a06-b131bb67989b...

I wanted to know about Outlook Express. I heard that its not available with newer versions of Windows. Is Windows Live Mail used, what is the replacement for Outlook express in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Farhad

Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail in Vista - and completely removed in Windows 7.
Windows Live Mail is now supported by MS free mail client and can import messages and contacts in the OE stores.

Note that the upgrade to Windows 7, XP requires a format of the HD - back up your data in the first place, if do a upgrade.

  • DirectX, d3d9.ll & d3d10.dll and Windows Update does not work... (Same problem?)

I had some problems with my computer lately...

The first thing I noticed is that I failed to run games and applications and I got this weird error 'missing d3d9.dll' and something in style with... "it could be fixed if you have reinstalled the application," but it didn't and I kept getting the error, then I went to see if there was even a d3d9.dll or a d3d10.dll - but it was not...

Then. I tried to download em for the internet, but later, I noticed that they were for DirectX and therefor was not sure I had good... Then I went to update my DirectX - but failed. He says that I already had an update of DirectX version and it refused to install. I however, perhaps I could uninstall directX, but I couldn't find where and how...

Then I however, maybe it's because some weird windows update problems - so I went to check how many updates there. I check it the day prior to that, but all of a sudden there are 14 new updates that I had not installed yet (overnight 14 new updates!).

Does anyone have a solution to this? Please, I desperately need help!

    Hi exique,

    1. don't you make changes before the show?
    2. on what game and application that you get this error?

DirectX runtime for end-users (also known under the name of DirectX) is an extension for the Microsoft Windows operating system that provides a set of quick material orders, low level that they can use to improve performance for Windows games and multimedia programs. The current generation of Windows games and multimedia programs does not work properly without DirectX. So, by design, you cannot remove DirectX.
    See DirectX: frequently asked questions

We recommend that you scan sfc (System File Checker) to see if any system file is missing or damaged. To do this, try the following steps on Vista and Windows 7
    a. visit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    b. run the scan successfully.
    c. restart the computer so that the changes take effect and check the result.

If the problem persists, we recommend that you reinstall the game or program that causes this problem.

  • Help me to solve the problem with modem hspa usb on Windows Vista and Windows 7

But later, its happened again. I take the modem at the other PC with XP, it is still OK, but it happened again with Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit home version. so could you help me to fix it? is it a bug of Windows Vista and windows 7? Thank you very much

    Hello

go to the website of modem manufacturers and look for the last vista and/or firmware for windows 7

  • my records of electronic mail in vista and windows mail suddenly disappeared.

My e-mail folders have disappeared and a recovered folder appeared and there was nothing in it. Help!

You can be smarter to follow the last statement and this post in the Forum of programs first because they are the experts. However, if it were any other file that the email file is how we recommend - so I will present for what it is worth.  Frankly, I'd like to repost in the Forum programs just to be on the safe side and because they may not know a simpler way of recovery - but if they are not, you have this to fall back on.

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky.  They have so-called saves shadow copies, which are deleted or modified files that can be recovered in case changes/deletions made by mistake.  http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx more information about how to use this feature to: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/howdoi/?p=145.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, shadow copies is not available; However, there is an alternative that is free and the shadow copies feature called Shadow Explorer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/.  Although it will not help you this time, it could very well save you in case this happens again.

In case this does not work (not all files are available through shadow - it occurs periodically), here are some additional free recovery programs that might help:

    http://www.munsoft.com/EasyDriveDataRecovery/

    http://techpaul.WordPress.com/2008/06/23/how-to-recover-your-lost-files/

The files are not really deleted until they are crushed (although they are no longer available through conventional methods).  If you decide to try these recovery programs, you should stop using your drive hard immediately in order not to replace the data that you are trying to recover.  He slave on another PC and launch the recovery of this PC.  Even now you have definitely lost some of them if you use the same PC.  If you can not do this (slave on another PC), you run the risk of overwriting the data with every action you do on the PC (but you may still be able to recover some or most or even all files - it's a matter of luck).

Only you can decide if the data is important enough to take the PC to an expert data recovery to recover files (they will have better programs and hardware to do that none of us do, and I've provided above).  Do NOT go to the Geek Squad or one of these centers of store-, they generally don't know what they are doing - it take for expert data recovery.  It will cost you a little and they generally offer no guarantees.  The decision is yours.

If the above does not work, then please repost your question in the Forum program: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/threads where people who specialize in programs other than Vista and IE (as Microsoft Mail) will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

    I hope this helps.
