Satellite C50 - A - Minimum brightness is too bright

Hello

I have a C50 - A with Windows 8 Satellite and refused to the brightness of the screen down to the lowest setting by using the usual methods (Control Panel and the quick keys).

Although it is on the lowest setting, it is still much too clear to me.
I don't want a theme of different windows, just a reduction more luminosity.

I could turn my old laptop much lower.
Any ideas?

> Although it is on the lowest setting, it is still much too clear to me.
> I don't want a theme of different windows, just a reduction more luminosity.

Different types of views supports the properties of different brightness.
This screen TFT color fire side CCFL supports 8 levels of measured in NIT brightness (Nit is the standard luminance unit)

_Brightness NIT_
level8 203-225
communautaire7 119-149
Level6 69-96
Level5 53-75
Level4 41-56
Level3 32-46
Level2 26-40
Level1 22-32

I assume that you have already set the brightness to level 1 (22 32 nit) well, it's the level as low as possible

Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-19 t Windows 8 and recently the display is almost non-existent.
When I start the machine, I see about the Toshiba Logo and that's it – even, it is difficult to see.

    What I tried:
    (1) external Monitor - external monitor works fine (connected via VGA).
    (2) I have tried the Fn/F4 key to chang what display, tried a few settings and still nothing on the laptop screen
    (3) I have obviously checked the brightness, it's almost max.
    (4) I removed the battery and power, left computer laptop for a while, then tried to turn on the back with the battery still out - nothing else.
    (5) I googled like crazy and tried to remove the battery & power, press and hold the power button / stop for 60 + seconds, made 5 - 10 times in all, still nothing when I power on
    (6) I replaced the screen with another similar toshiba that I know works - it's exactly the same thing.

Is there anything else that I'm missing here?

The laptop works like a dream when connected to an external monitor... and I have removed and reloaded all drivers display, reset the CMOS, etc..

I am confused now and it is one of the children with homework, so my ears get sore!

    PLS HELP!

    > 1) external Monitor - external monitor works fine (connected via VGA)

It is most important information that you have provided in your message.
In case the external monitor is OK, the GPU/motherboard should also be OK.

From my point of few display panel (backlight) is defective.
The backlight of the display is not working properly.

You said that you have replaced the screen well, compatible display board?

  • Special function keys not working not not on Satellite C50 - Windows 8.1

    Hello

    Please could someone help me.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A0393, I received a few months ago with already installed Windows 8.1 (64-bit). Today, I got a message saying that I had to watch the PC health, a blue message Toshiba about that the access agreement and I noticed that there are three updates that needed to be done, the only one, I remember being the Toshiba Video Player. I think that another had to do with the light of the charger?
    I do not know.

But once I rebooted my laptop after the update I noticed that the special function keys were not working (i.e. the volume, mute, pause and play, etc..). Then, I went to the Toshiba Office help and in Control Panel and select the keyboard tab. I did as the setting for the special function mode has been selected.

Now, when this setting is in place, some keys work but for F3, F5, F6, etc. and when I want to use special features that the volume up and down work when pressing 'Fn', but the special function mode is still selected? These two work only, not the mute or the flightmode or bluetooth, which was operating normally before the updates.

I googled but can't find something specific to 8.1, or not covered do not upgrade to 8.1. I can't find the flashcard utility and do not want to try something where I don't know what I'm doing. How can I get these special function keys working again normally? Sorry for the long message, but I wanted to give as much information as possible.

    Thank you very much

    Melanie

    Hello

It seems strange to me that an update of Toshiba (Toshiba Video Player, etc.) would have an impact on the key features of function.
However, the function key (F1 - F10) can be used in combination with or without the FN key. It depends on the special function key mode.

In case you want to use the F1 - F12 functions without the FN key, the key mode of function must be enabled (should be set to the special mode of operation)

Full details here how it works:
    https://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD2503B90001R01.htm

Now it these buttons would not work even if pressing the FN key, then there is a problem with the software.

First of all I would recommend allows you to set the default BIOS because this mode key function can be changed in the BIOS too.
After this, check if the key would work. If not, reinstall
    Key feature of Toshiba utility

And the driver for the Toshiba system

You can also check if the essential service has not been disabled.
Start the Task Manager and go to start a number of questions. You must activate all Toshiba apps, services and then restart.

  • Satellite C50-A483 and Win8.1 - quality of the Webcam is very low

    Hi friends,

Yesterday, I bought a new laptop Toshiba Satellite C50-A483, single language 8.1 for Windows, 64-bit, which

I am very disappointed by the results of the webcam, its too fuzzy, there is no options to change the settings for the webcam, previously I had Toshiba which saw was CAMERA ASSISTANT SOFTWARE, I can adjust the webcam settings, even if there is a night mode, but unfortunately I have not all the options, at the present time

can anyone suggest Me the right options so that I can have good results from my webcam.

    Thanks in advance,

The application of Toshiba webcam is available for Win 7 systems but the Win 8 and 8.1 of Windows system use the webcam from Microsoft to the own address application.

So if you use Win 8.1, you must use the Microsoft internal webcam application

With regard to the quality of webcam photo:
Different Toshiba laptops are equipped with different webcams.
    C50-A483 satellite was equipped with a * 0.92 mega pixel * webcam supporting a built-in microphone

For example a Satellite A660 was equipped with a 1.3 M mega pixel webcam

If still notice you and difference between a 0.92MP and 1.3MP camera.

  • Satellite C50-B-13D - cannot install display driver

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite C50-B-13D. I had to reinstall my OS Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit. Now, I have a problem with the drivers. For example, I can't install the display driver. After that I give the permission to make changes on my computer, the error message "this computer is unresponsive to the minimum requierments to install this software. Does anyone know what I can do?

As I'm not mistaken Satellite C50-B-13D does not dedicated GPU, but the laptop was equipped with the Intel Celeron CPU of N2830 supporting the Intel HD Graphics 4000

If you need to install the display driver Intel HD 4000.

Usually, you have two possibilities to install the driver.
You can run the installation.exe (setup.exe) file, or you install the driver in Device Manager. I recommend you to choose option 2 in the case where the standard procedure done functions.

The Toshiba UE driver page driver must be decompressed.
You will find in the folder display-20140528122046 the TC40214900E.exe
It is a zipped file. Right-click this file and choose "unzip here".
Now, you will get another folder TC40214900E where you will find all the driver (dll) files.

Next step: go to the Device Manager, choose graphics card, and then click the driver update/installation
Now choose the "Advanced" installation option and point to the folder of the unzipped driver.
The system will get the files automatically, and you can complete the installation.

    That's all.

  • Question on Satellite C50-B919 battery charging

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-B919, I bought 9 months ago... IT was working fine but all of a sudden it stopped working without the charger is plugged in!

I need to plug the charger all the time!

At the start, it shows that the RTC is low and I need to set the time... I tried to follow the instructions and set the time as well... but it has not yet changed something... once the charger is taken off, it turns off!

    Help, please!

    Waiting for your answer!

    Hello

RTC battery seems to be empty, and that's why the BIOS data and time will be reset always when connected the isn t AC adapter.
The RTC battery, you have to keep the power adapter plugged in for about 18 to 20 hours and the laptop must be turned on!
Then the RTC battery would charge.

However, the main battery seems to be empty too and does it not charge more.
You will probably need to replace the main battery.

  • Only the C partition on the new Satellite C50-B-14Z

    Hello

I'm not an experienced user, but I'll do my best to explain the problem.

I bought Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14Z with 8.1 installed Windows, and when starting the system, I noticed that there is only one partition of hard drive, the C partition. When you enter the disk management, I see there are 4 basic partitions already (500 GB disk):

    -Recovery - 1 GB
    -EFI system - 100 MB
    -Recovery - 10.97 GB
-C (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) - 453,57 GB

They are all primary partitions, and I read on the forums that you can have only 4 those primary, so I can't add one more to the D partition, I would like to have.
Possibility that I offered in "actions" is to create a virtual hard drive, but I guess that is not the same thing.
I also read that you can create new partition if you have "unallocated" space (partition), but all 4 before indicated are those primary and not affected.

Then, the next opportunity that I read on is to do a right-click on C and "reduce volume", and then create new partition from the rest of the space (if I understand it is good), but then I read in Windows Help:
"When you shrink a partition, all regular files are automatically transferred to the disk to create the new unallocated space. There is no need to reformat the drive to shrink the partition. » ... "If the partition is a raw partition (that is, a lack of a file system) that contains data (for example, a database file)", reducing the partition may destroy the data. ""

Normally, I have never tested a large part with the C partition, and now I don't know if I would destroy some system files while doing this "shrinkage" and I don't have the CD installation for the system, so I can't fix it if I ruin something.

    Please advise...

Yes, this is the right way to have more than one partition. You can define what capacity should partition C and any free space can be "convert" to the D partition.

One last thing: don't forget to create a recovery (DVD or USB) media. It is very important to have recovery image back-up.

  • Satellite C50 - update Windows questions

    Hello

I bought a Satellite C50 windows 8 year last for my partner (who has the patience of a gnat and click on everything and nothing), when windows updates were installed on a month ago, she lost the office link, she kept flashing on and outside. She managed to access the Internet through internet Explorer tab (only for the bingo & ebay lol).

An other recent windows update took forever to load then a failure to configure changes return messages that froze the laptop.

Yesterday, I managed to return to the default value, all settings, after all personal preferences, I went to update the page to change the settings to apply updates before installing, and he said he had to be updated before choosing the updates!

I'm back there again and I was wondering if there was a specific update that is causing all this trouble. Although my bank balance is looking better, I'll throw this lappy in the bin and just buy another!

    Help, please. Thanks :)

    Hello

In general, I agree with the view of s IronMan.
The point is that you can always set the computer laptop initial configuration using the recovery procedure.

After this procedure the system windows will install updates from Microsoft.
This may take some time and the unit must be restarted several times during this procedure.

A system update will install before other updates have been installed.
Therefore, this process could take a little longer.

In addition, you will need to update to the latest system 8.1 Win the old Win 8.
This can be done after have installed all updates to Win 8.
The Win 8.1 update should be done as recommended by Toshiba.

The complete step by step instruction can be found here:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/

You will be also informed about updates of Toshiba Toshiba service station preinstalled.
In this case, it will be very easy to get the latest version of the driver.

I hope this helps a little

  • Vodafone Huawei 3 G Dongle will not work on Satellite C50 and Win8

Recently bought this laptop running Windows 8.
No matter what I try, I can't do this USB 3 G Huawei Vodafone dongle to be recognized by this Toshiba laptop.

This dongle works in all our other laptops and laptops and tablets from other brands with Windows 7 or Windows 8 is certainly not something to do with the dongle the software, he moved, drivers or the operating system.

At a time where it is plugged into the port USB, he opens the window asking what we want to do, telling me that the port and USB controller works, but that's all that.

When you open the Vodafone software to connect to the 3G option Connect is grayed out and no device is indicated. In other words, it is not to recognize the modem for a reason any.

As he is OK anywhere else, it must be something to do with this Toshiba laptop.

Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated.
We have loaded other versions of the Vodafone software and it made no difference. It must be a hardware conflict problem.

It seems that the device does not recognize the USB dongle.
Did you test all USB ports?

As much as I know Satellite C50-A-xxx supports 1 USB 3.0 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports
    Check all three ports.

You can also delete all the USB controllers and hubs in Device Manager and restart the laptop. After restarting again the unit should automatically recognize the USB ports.
Also try to disable the sleep & Charge USB in the BIOS (if available).

    Hi Anu

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. You posted in the networking and internet category, so I have to ask if you're sure the problem described is in connection any with internet connectivity to 100%?
Did you do some basic tests like difference between WLAN and LAN or test of connection of your device to different networks?

For two months, I have Satellite S50 - B originally preinstalled with Win8.1 and it works perfectly. I use it at home and in my office.
