Satellite C660 - message: disk HARD Smart predict service failures - drive check

Hello

I'm new on this site and need some advice.

I have a Satellite C660 laptop and when I recently turned it on I got this message... HARD drive has a clever feature on failures to predict, check the drive.

I did a HARD drive recovery but still getting the same message.
Do I have to buy a new HARD drive and if so where is the best place to buy a.

I live in regional WA.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Angel

Hello

This looks to drive HARD going wrong and in this case the Get procedure isn't a real solution.
I think you need to replace the HARD drive in order to solve this problem.

The laptop supports version 2.5 SATA HDD and I think you should find some good deals online in your area.

By the way: after replacing HARD drive, you should be able to recover the laptop using the recovery disk.

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1DT and the last days he started to say "your HARD drive has the smart predict function failures"-is that what I did for her or is it a problem to manufacturers? I only got two months.

Anyone know if I can fix it myself?
I have just in Spain and I'm here for the next two months.

    I'm useless with technology...

    Any help would be good.

    Thank you!!

Please don't fix anything alone. New notebook has warranty valid so if something goes wrong the affected parts must be replaced and warranty will cover all costs.

Visit THIS page and read what means SMART.
In other words, your HARD disk goes wrong so please back up all your important data and contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

I don't know where you live in Spain, but to find the nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer visit the Toshiba support page under
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP contact them as soon as possible.

  • Satellite C660 - update the HARD drive firmware question

I have satellite C660 with hard drive: MK3275GSX, firmware: v.GT001M. On another Web site support site I found the update of firmware for v.GT002D ([link: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/mw/en/mwdhs1/DriverDetails/Product/latitude-e6330?driverId=FP21C&fileId=3126089791&osCode=W732 & languageCode = en]).

    Can I use this update?

Question may be stupid, but why firmware update HARD drive? Over the past 10 years I ve ever installed an update of the HARD drive.

If Toshiba support doesn t offer an official update on the download page, I think that you don t need.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - disk hard keeps spinning down

Hi, I have recently updated the BIOS on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L20, and I noticed that the disk hard keeps spinning down after about a minute, even while typing or surfing on the internet. I checked the power settings Windows XP and have it put on the desk, with the time 'Disable hard drive' set to 5 minutes when it is plugged and 5 minutes on battery (I always use on the same network). I checked the BIOS settings to see if there is something listed there, but there are no settings for hard disk power management in the BIOS.

Although the turning down of the hard disk does not affect performance, I fear that it may be to focus on rising constant power drive / descent.
The new version of BIOS is 25 April 06 Windows Bios Update for Satellite L20 (PSL2X), Satellite Pro L20 (PSL2Y) and Equium L20 (PSL2Z)', or a file 2, 20 - WIN.

I think that it s nothing unusual that the HARD drive keeps spinning down applies none or BONES need the HARD disk activity.
In addition, the turning down of the HARD drive has no effect from the bottom on the performance of the HARD disk or over the life of the HARD drive.

    Hi all!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-13 q (init p.n. PSC0QE).

After a hard drive failure, I replace the HD toshiba and I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

I don't have many problems with the exception of two system devices to identify:

    Chicori USB 2.0 Webcam (integrated) HW ID: USB\VID_04F2 & PID_B1D6 & REV_2613 & MI_00
Device unkwnown (ACPI, I guess, the system of said cause my laptop battery is down) ID HW ACPI\TOS6205

I googled for a few days but I can't solve my problems.

I tried to install the drivers on this site http://www.toshiba.it/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=IT but I can't find the ACPI drivers and drivers webcam does not work (after that I clicked the system does nothing).

    Can you help me?

    > Chicori USB 2.0 Webcam (integrated) HW ID: USB\VID_04F2 & PID_B1D6 & REV_2613 & MI_00

All essential information on this device are already mentioned.
It's webcam Chicony device it's the internal webcam and you must install the webcam software!

    > Peripheral Unkwnown (ACPI, I guess, the system of said cause my laptop battery is down) ID HW ACPI\TOS6205
The other the acpi\tos6205 seems to be Bluetooth!

The laptop seems to support the BROADCOM 802.11 card BCM94313 WLan (B/G/N).
It is the WIFI and Bluetooth combo card!
This means that you have first installed the Broadcom WLan driver, then filter Broadcom BT and Toshiba BT stack

  • MacBookPro successfully updated for the SSD but old disk HARD not accessible as external drive

    OK people,

Successfully, I upgraded my MBP late 2012 to 1 TB SSD with the help of the community here. Thank you.

My old drive was an 8.1 El Capitan\Win Bootcamp and worked pretty well without fault.

I used the disk utility to clone the OSX partition and did a fresh install of Win10 through BootCamp.

    So far so good.

However, my plan was gradually transfer the files from the old partition Win 8.1 in the score of Win10 that I need them.

That is the problem. Win10 OS or my OSX recognize the old Win8.1 HARD disk partition. However, they both recognize the old OSX partition.

The two operating systems (OSX\Win10) was format\Initialise the old HDD when connected through a USB enclosure.

As a test, I swapped the old disk to the MBP and it started actual Win8.1 therefore the partition is accessible. Actually I'm in it starts now as I type this message.

Watch Windows Disk Manager partition as a RAW rather than NTFS where the desire to get in shape. I am reluctant to start playing with partitioning\recovery tools because I can access the drive while having to open the MBP, but it is accessible.

Is there a reason why the original HARD drive is not accessible as a normal external drive?

ATM my only option I'm looking at is a copy of right of ALL files in the Windows 8.1 on another disk partition so that I can easily access the files.

    Ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Try ejecting the disc (use disk utility), reboot and reconnect the drive.

    Model: Toshiba Satellite C660-117
    Part number: PSCOLE-00Y00JEN
    Serial number: XA458343K

I have just rewiped my laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. I use the laptop on a wireless connection. In Device Manager, I have an exclamation mark next to the Ethernet controller. This prevents me from going online.

Can someone direct me please the link to download some driver I need?

Thank you much much in advance.

    Dennis.

    Hey Buddy,

Controller driver Ethernet can be both: WLAN or LAN card. All the drivers and tools can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

You have installed Windows 7 Ultimate, but may I ask why you haven t used the Toshiba with Windows 7 Home Premium recovery disc? On this disc are all the drivers and tools are installed because it s a picture of factory for you don t have stress with driver and installation tool.

Can you tell me what is my next step?

    Thanks in advance

    Jens

The key is that you ve done data backup so in case the HARD drive doesn't work you will not lose your data.

Have also created recovery DVDs? If this isn't the case, please do so as soon as possible.

What to do now? In my opinion, you must continue to use the laptop as usual, but be careful with the backup of the data and make backups. If something goes wrong with HARD drive, you must buy a new one and replace it.
At your warranty valid for laptop?

  • Satellite A200 - password disk HARD 'frozen' in the BIOS

Satellite A200 computer laptop does not recognize the HARD drive.
Reconstruction of the disk with Vista or XP - Pro (on another machine) have proved to be unsuccessful.

Originally, continually blue machine armored and quicky restarted, Machine was infected by the virus and Trojans that I believe have damaged BIOS. The BIOS now appears to have 'frozen' a HARD drive password (unknown) which transfers any HARD drive new - perpetuating the problem.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, thanks.

    Hello

Usually, you should be able to remove the HARD drive password in the BIOS.
You have to put the old HARD drive password must use ENTER to put an empty string as a new HARD drive password and you will need to confirm this
Save the changes and restart again

If this procedure is not possible or does not work then there must be something wrong with the BIOS, module ROM BIOS or motherboard.
Maybe an update of BIOS/reflash could be useful, but generally all passwords must be removed before attempting a BIOS updates, which could be risky
I think you should get in touch with a local ASP and need to ask for help, maybe the technician will be able to reflash the BIOS

    Welcome & good luck

  • Satellite A300-1 - disk HARD for XP drivers

    Hello

    I have Toshiba Satellite A300-1.
No recovery CD were delivered by Toshiba.
I have a laptop formatted, a valid key of XP, but I can't install it because it does not recognize the hard drive.

Where can I find the hard disk for my A300 1 drivers.

I'm really tired of finding a sollution for my new laptop.

    Thank you

    Hello

You are right. Recovery DVDs is not delivered because recovery image is saved on the second partition of HARD drive. After the first start, there is recall with exact explanation to create recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery creator tool.

If you ignore it, now you don't have the ability to create this DVD again. Really great!

Anyway, what you need now is driver SATA and it must be loaded at startup by using the F6 key. You can save it to diskette drive or create a clean bootable media.
On this thread, you can find an exact explanation on laptop Windows XP Home on Satellite Pro computer installation but the principle remains the same and you can do the same on your laptop.

By the way: also check this http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm document

  • Satellite C660: message: reboots and select good boot device

    Hello

I dropped the laptop today literally a few inches from the ground, it slipped from my hand as I was placing it on the ground. He fell flat.

Now I see the message "reboot and select proper boot device."

I tried a few different options that I read, and I see the HARD drive in the BIOS F2 thing or whatever it is called. If it is recognized, but I can't seem to move in the message. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

PS I will need clear instructions, I'm not stupid, but I need to explain. I don't understand some of the pieces.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that your HARD drive is bad.
I think that you have not checked it correctly in the BIOS.

Please go to BIOS once more, by pressing F2.
Now on the first page, you will see date, time, details of CD/DVD drive and you should also see the details of the disk (size, name)
    You see that?

Otherwise, the HARD disk is not initialized by the BIOS and this means that, because of the fall, the HARD disk has been damaged.

  • VMWare esxi 5.5 - is possible to shrink a thick disk hard put into service?

    Hey guys

Recently, I have increased the size of the hard drive to one of my VM to 300 GB drives when I only need 200GB.

The player is supplied thickness. Memory I don't think that you can reduce a thick disc put into service from the client VMWare 5.5.

So my question is, is there another way I can reduce this hard drive stocked thickness so I can recover unused space?

    Kind regards

    Aaron

Yes, technically, if you have a 300 GB windows volume supported by a thick hard of 300 GB you can do the following:

    1. Defragment system files comments with Raxco Disk defrag or similar, as the use of the option consolidate free space
    2. Try and make sure that a good number costs blocks by the end of the partition (options defrag boot use pagefile and $mft etc.)
    3. Reduce the 200 GB partition
    4. Storage vmotion virtual machine and set the destination thin format

This hard never will now have more than 200 GB unless the windows partition is cultivated but the hard remains thin. Otherwise, vmware standalone converter or vmkfstools way to go. If prefer vmkfstools.

  • Satellite M30, upgrade disk hard - 120 GB

I have laptop of subject and want to upgrade the disk the better. There is a 120 GB MK1233GAS.
Could someone confirm if this could be used to replace my current MK4025GAs 40 GB drive. Could there be compatibility problems? Is also advertised disc here at the http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119571 - identical to the MK1233GAS.

Would be grateful for any advice

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop has 40 GB, 60 GB and 80 GB built-in HARD drive.
If you also use a 100 GB HARD drive but I don't know about m 120 GB hard drives.
The problem is that Toshiba does not provide all the official documents and information
on the max supported size of HARD drive and therefore we can only speculate.

You could simply test the HARD drive.
If the BIOS does not recognize the new HARD disk, you can send it to the garage.
I think that this should t be a problem.

  • Satellite C660 needs new HARD drive - Windows 7

    Hello

My C660 needs a new hard drive. It came with Windows 7 Home premium pre-installed, and I would like to get back to that.

If I go to Microsoft to download windows 7 with my product key, it gives an error. I contacted the support Ms. I don't remember what they said, but they could not help, perhaps because it was a version of installed manufacturer?

So if I get a new hard drive, how can I go back to my previous operating system, Windows 7 Home Premium?

    Help please?

You can have the previous operating system (recovery image) If you install it using a recovery (DVD or USB) media.
I assume that you did not create this media recovery in the past, the right?

If you always use your laptop and pre-installed OS try please create this media using pre-installed recovery media utility. More info on what you can read in the document of the user manuals.

  • Satellite C660 - recovery disk fails error 1117

Please can someone help. I tried to use my recovery disks to restore my laptop when it kept not start correctly. The disks did not work so I bought a set of discs from Toshiba on this Web site. I still have the same problem.

What the failed hard drive or something else?

If I buy a new hard drive recovery disks will work if the hard drive is not exactly the same as the one that is out?

    Hello

Have you thought about the HARD drive?
It could be a malfunction of the HARD drive that does not allow you to install the system.

I recommend that you check the HARD disk for some potential problems.

There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test. You can use it to check the HARD drive.
Google simply to get the software.
