Satellite C660 - recovery disk fails error 1117

Please can someone help. I tried to use my recovery disks to restore my laptop when it kept not start correctly. The disks did not work so I bought a set of discs from Toshiba on this Web site. I still have the same problem.

What the failed hard drive or something else?

If I buy a new hard drive recovery disks will work if the hard drive is not exactly the same as the one that is out?

Hello

Have you thought about the HARD drive?
It could be a malfunction of the HARD drive that does not allow you to install the system.

I recommend that you check the HARD disk for some potential problems.

There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test. You can use it to check the HARD drive.
Google simply to get the software.

I contacted Toshiba UK in case there was a problem with the recovery disk, but due to licensing issues they can only redirect me to the support of EU toshiba backup site to buy a new recovery disk. As I already have a recovery disk, I don't want to buy another for the same results. Does anyone have ideas on how I could get the recovery disk to load entirely and recover my laptop to its factory settings?

At first, I must say that you should back up all your important data to an external device like external HD or USB. When you use the recovery facilities disc all the partition is deleted.

I don't know why you cannot use livery recovery disk, but the only thing to do is to visit nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and show the problem. If they can confirm recovery DVD is defective, I assume that you will get a new free of charge.

  • Satellite M100 recovery disk failing after loading ramdisk image

    Hello world

    I have a Satellite M100 (bought mid-2006), 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HDD, Intel CPU T2050.

I decided to have a cleaning and use the restore disc to return the laptop to factory settings, and then reinstall only what I really wanted.
I had this done yesterday, I had forgotten something, then he ran again about 4 hours later.
The first time that the restore worked, now it reboots once the progress bar reaches full when he says "Loading RAMDISK Image".
After the progress bar reaches full, the mouse pointer appears for a few seconds then restart the computer.

Nothing has changed with the hardware or BIOS, and what is on the HD should not have any effect because I am booting from the DVD.
Can someone please help? I am at a loss to explain what happened in this interval of 4 hours.

    Thank you

    Hello!

    I agree with Akuma.
Sometimes I can read here on this problem and I know you should only remove the partition on the HARD disk. Therefore, you can also use a Windows XP CD from Microsoft or the FDISK utility.

After you delete all the partition, you should be able to run the recovery disk.
    Check it!

    Hello

My friend who s a long story.

It's not easy to say what the reason is for this, but to me it sounds like that there is something wrong with the HARD drive. In your case I would format the HARD drive before launching the recovery disc. You can do this with a Microsoft disk to format the whole HARD drive. After that try the recovery disk again.

If it doesn't work, you should check the HARD drive with a special HARD drive diagnostic tool like Drive Fitness Test. use Google to find it, it s freeware and takes only a few minutes.

Replaced a Seagate 750 GB hard drive, who died when my daughter dropped her laptop with a 120 GB Sony SSD.  Ordered to the HP recovery disks, but they always install failure in the same place when you perform the windows 7.  The laptop is a dv6t - 6 c 00.  The error message is the following:

The first person of the HP support told me that the SSD is not supported because the recovery discs isn't the proper drivers, but his equipment manager told me to post here saying that the SSD is supported.  Reovey discs should work on a smaller SSD?  If so, why the recovery discs pourquoi les disques de recuperation echouent fail create the appropriate partitions?

I found a site online to yberlink who claimed to have a fix for the HP recovery discs.  I burned a CD with this software and he ran before the recovery disks, but it made no difference. Does anyone know how to fix or work around this problem?

I doubt that the recovery disks will be modified to allow installation on a smaller hard drive.

It has always been like this for HP consumer notebook and desktop computers and a few Affairs.

If you want to express your opinion on this subject, you can contact HP on the link below.

Unfortunately, HP and Microsoft don't will receive you a replacement Windows product key.

Each company will tell you to contact others, that gets you nowhere.

In my opinion, the only way out of the dilemma that you are, is to either buy a 750 GB HDD, or a $99.00 W7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system OEM retailer online as new egg or Amazon, so it will install on your SSD.

  • Re: Satellite L750D - recovery disk installer fails

So, I bought a L750D Satellite today in a chain store.
They had a double the RAM for free offer.
There is no disk in the packae and when you start the laptop, it goes into windows 7 and asks if you want to install the 32-bit version or 64-bit.
I understand that this example uses a recovery of the windows installation to install the required version.

My problem is that it breaks down. It crashed on the first machine to which I took and it crashed on the second they gave me too much.

Now, I tried to use the Windows 7/repair of my desktop PC Installation disk and that does not work either. A friend suggested I bring the machine, re - install the original 8 GB of RAM and then redo the installation. I suspect that this might be the problem, like rising to 16 GB might be the problem when you use a Windows restore Toshiba seems to have adopted as the ONLY way to install the OS of the computer.

I'll try it tomorrow, but that someone has other suggestions that I desperately need to have this machine work tomorrow.

I read a lot of discussion about this stuff all over the web, but no solution beyond buying a disk recovery tool. Seems a bit of a scam really.

    TIA.

    Hello

First of all, I doubt that the 16 GB of RAM would be supported on this laptop.
Then it was wrong to upgrade to 16 GB of RAM, and I guess that was the problem, why the Windows system can be installed for the first time.

Second: the disks are not part of the package, because all laptops from Toshiba (also from other manufacturers) supports a recovery system. Means that you must create a clean recovery disk if you buy the laptop. There is a Toshiba Recovery Media Creator called tool that creates the recovery disk.

I'm not sure if the recovery files would be still available on disk HARD because you said that you tried to install win 7 using a disc belonging to your desktop PC, so eventually the recovery files are now removed.

However, check if it is possible:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm7

    Otherwise: order the CD here:

    > Now the Nr.1does recovery disk does not restore the system and the laptop turns off after appearing to run normally for about 20 seconds.

Sorry, but this sentence confuses me. What you mean under function normally? Start your laptop computer, enter BIOS settings and leave it with that. Laptop does turns off after a short time or what?

Maybe you should explain a little better what happens when you start your laptop.

  • Satellite C660 - recovery partition is there but can I make backup discs?

    Hi all

    Just a query
My GF turned on his PC series portable Satellite C660 and it would not start, we have tried to open the restore from the recovery partition sequence but kept getting the error that progresses at the start (error said to a device USB has been disconnected).

As you probably guessed that she never did the backup disks when you are prompted, everything I could think of used a drive to win 7 and reload this way then try to make recovery disks after (I didn't activate)
so win 7 has been installed well and all the drivers of origin that was all last week.
Now to the crunchiness, the recovery partition is here now, I do the recovery disks and install from those, win 7 I installed it will soon take activation
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

After clean install of OS you can't create more recovery disk and you cannot install recovery image using the disk HARD recovery option (F8 at startup).

Best thing you can do now is drive original order of Toshiba and use it for recovery image installation. It is certainly easier to have factory again.
You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Satellite L305D-S593 - disk read error

My Toshiba Satellite L305D-S593 suddenly stopped. At first I thought he had a little more heated or something, but when I tried to turn back on it gave me a message saying disk-read error press ctrl alt del to restart. I did several times in the same direction. While I tried to reinstall windows, I got lucky if she showed to the installation screen once it did, I followed the instructions for installation clean (I had to do it once before, but for different reasons).

Once he brought me to the menu had to select a partition to install on I said to do it on the main HDD after some loading and that time, he said that it was impossible to complete the formatting required. So I Redid the process and I noticed the music said it had 288 GB of available memory, but before that, I had only about 40. To remedy this, I clicked on the format button and it says that it cannot complete the action because the disk is about to fail.

PS My processor is 64-bit AMD Turion dual core mobile, with 4 GB of RAM

    Hey,.

In my opinion, it has something to do with the HARD drive itself, I guess that it s a bad sector so Windows Setup can format t HARD drive properly. I mean before you tried to reinstall Windows, the system could not start due to a disc read error. This means that the files on the HARD disk are confused because of bad sectors

You can install Windows Toshiba Recovery disk?

If it doesn t work too, I'll try to replace the HARD drive. Usually, it is not complicated and can be done in 5 minutes.
In addition, you can check the HARD disk for errors with diagnostic tools special as Drive Fitness Test. Google a bit for such tools, they are freeware, so it s no problem to find. ;)

I just bring a Satellite A100 and a problem by performing a full restore using the two supplied with my laptop recovery disks.

The problem came after I deleted all partitions on the hard drive and then reformatted the entire hard drive.

I get on the above error code, stated in the following format:

When I try to use the Recovery Wizard.

I will be grateful if someone can help me on this one.

I agree with the previous user. I think it's a matter of formatting of s.
Try to boot from the original Windows XP CD. This would format the HARD drive again.
Then use the Toshiba Recovery CD again!

I noticed these problems installing several times and bad HARD drive format has been mostly a reason for similar problems

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk problems

I just bought the (all new store big tech) Satellite A200 for a few months and not used because I was on business trip to take. This weekend, I opened it up and running for a while.

After that I read the manual and found that I need to create a recovery from the tools provided disk. However, the problem start here:

    1. when I click on "Recovery Disc Creator", a message is display "no HDD Recovery area!, the toshiba Recovery Disc creator cannot be launched."

2 then I call center service support and to inform that there is a problem with the "recovery disk creator" and I have to retrieve the laptop using the hard drive partition recovery (waiting when 0 turning on the system) and the next step is complete:
    a. the laptop's boot in the recovery screen function.
    b. when I try to "restore windows PC" (option 3), it is display and error message on file not found.
    c. when I try to click on "restoring the recovery disk" (option 5), it asks me to put in the recovery disk which I do not have?

NOTE: I'm sure that the hidden recovery partition is therre. 1.46 GB. There is no way that I can access the hidden partition from a normal windows vista screen (without drive letter).

Then, I called the support center again (now what difference person support) and to inform you that:

    1. my recovery partition is corrupted and I need to get the recovery disk again (which I did not), it's going to cost me AUD $66 (I got from HP one and cost me AUD $15 and will be free if I come and Pick-up) for administrative costs. And it is a procedure.

    2. I explain to the support staff that it is brand new in the box laptop and I consider it as defective on arrival (DOA or FOA.

    3. I also ask what causes the problem and has been a consultant with the following reason:
    a. I may have deleted the partition accident (impossible because I still can start on the recovery partition, but can not recovery which all).
    b. There may be a virus infect in my laptop which was remove my recovery file in the hidden partition (ridiculous, you can delete some files in the drive on which you cannot yet access).
    c. I should create a recovery disc when the first time LAPTOP computer service. Which it is recommended, I get a question that if I do not, or I forgot to do so, this means that the software will automatically delete the system restore image file? I have no answer for that.

State (when I try to post this messgae), I'm still waiting for the staffs of complaint call fomr back (very tie when you talk in support of service these days).

NOTE 2: I would like to raise these issues, not because I want something (I do both IT support) complaints but I just want to solve the problem:

    1. is there some sort (software) allow me to access the hidden drive in and out of recovery disc image, my laptop still have the partition.

    2. is there a link I can download image recovery (in iso format) disc again? I've known it is not a question of wise, but when I ask the support staff that can re - install windows vista with the license key from the bottom of the laptop and has advised that it is not work or turn on.

    3. is there someone out there has similar problem

    Hi Thomas

I have a European model A200 (don t know what you model is) and the A200 was NOT equipped with the option of HARD drive recovery! This means that you cannot create your own recovery disk!
My laptop came with the Toshiba Vista recovery DVDs!

Still is it that your 1.46 GB hidden partition is not the Toshiba recovery partition but Vista hidden partition. It contains the WinRE files that are useful for repairing the operating system if something will go wrong!

Second, the Toshiba Recovery folder is too big for the partition of 1.46 GB!
So it is not possible that it would be placed on this s partition!

So finally, it seems that you will not be able to create the own recovery disk and therefore, you have to order it from the ASP in your country.

    Welcome them

    Hello

This looks to drive HARD going wrong and in this case the Get procedure isn't a real solution.
I think you need to replace the HARD drive in order to solve this problem.

The laptop supports version 2.5 SATA HDD and I think you should find some good deals online in your area.

By the way: after replacing HARD drive, you should be able to recover the laptop using the recovery disk.
