Satellite L300D-12Y - vertical stripes with 3D acceleration

Hello

I bought a L300D-12Y some days and I do not like Vista, I installed Windows XP (SP2 Pro) on this subject. Then, I installed the drivers from the driver (display - 20090127162159.zip) page and began to play games to check the performance of the machine. Whatever the game I play, after some time (it can be a few seconds after the start of the game or minutes) the game (or software) falls down and something like the following image appears:

http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/9684/dsc03130.jpg

If the program/game is runt on a window, and GPU of ATI get activated, a window with an error I have to submit the accident to the driver for ATI appears:

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/421/dsc03144.jpg
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8616/dsc03145.jpg

It happens regardless of the graphics in the game API (OpenGL or DirectX) and it really bothers me because I'm a student in computer engineering and I need support of acceleration 3D for some of my work...
It also happens with the latest version of driver ATI Catalyst 9.2.

I have a feeling that it is mistake to drive... Any solution or suggestion appreciated.

Kind regards
CK

Hello

> No.... It is software.
> He was unable on Vista, I can run any program / game and it does not...
Maybe you did install a display driver that isn't compatible with the graphics card or overheating GPU
Have you installed the special display for XP driver and your model of laptop (L300D-12 years) or is this designed for a laptop display driver?

As Akuma already written, you can try to update the BIOS. Just visit the Toshiba page for an update and install it!

In the worst cases, to use the preinstalled operating system and I put t understand why you installed another OS? In my opinion this laptop is fast enough for Vista and I think that it is also designed for this OS

The laptop is now practically unusable.

I have connected the VGA output to another monitor, and there is no tape.
I also unplugged then replugged the cable below the left hinge and no difference.

If this requires a new screen, it would be probably cheaper to buy a new laptop.
But is it possible that it's just a problem for cable or contact?
    Or how a UPS fails?

    All advice appreciated.

    > I have connected the VGA output to another monitor and there is no tape.
This means that your graphics card is OK, but the s display malfunction internal for laptop.
    That s in my opinion.

You are right. Replacing the screen is not cheap the screen and the motherboard are the more expensive parts of laptop and a new screen would cost about 300Euros.

If your warranty is the replacement must be done for free. But if it s not valid, then you will have to pay for it.

It would be your own decision what to do and the decision is not easy

PS I never had these problems with my other laptops...

    Hello

My friend who s a long story.

It's not easy to say what the reason is for this, but to me it sounds like that there is something wrong with the HARD drive. In your case I would format the HARD drive before launching the recovery disc. You can do this with a Microsoft disk to format the whole HARD drive. After that try the recovery disk again.

If it doesn't work, you should check the HARD drive with a special HARD drive diagnostic tool like Drive Fitness Test. use Google to find it, it s freeware and takes only a few minutes.

  • Re: Satellite L300D do not begin with iTunes

The new L300D received 13 s today (with Vista Home Premium), loaded MS Office 2007 without problem and anti-virus and then iTunes software.

When trying to turn on laptop later would not start (got stuck on Please wait). Succeeded to restart using the system restore to a point of restoration before itunes was downloaded.
    Help, please!

I n t have experience with iTunes, but where did you downloaded it?
Maybe it's the s virus in it or an older version that is not compatible with Vista.

To be honest, I could be also software anti-virus because you wrote that you have installed the software, then on iTunes?
You did a reboot between these facilities?

  • Satellite L300D - need help with the installation of the display driver

    Hello

For 1 month, I need to update my display on my Satellite L300D driver (PSLC8C - 06NO19) with an ATI RADEON 3100.

I tried to download the drivers on the Ati site, but when the installation has finished, nothing has changed. My driver is still the old man.

I tried to download the driver from the Toshiba site, but for my model, I found the same old driver.

Is there a way I can install the driver manually, like a normal computer? Or I'm stuck with this driver, given that Toshiba does not seem to take care of my old L300D :(

    Thanks in advance,

    DanPabst

PS: Sorry for my English but I'm French from the Canada game

    Hello

    > I tried to download the drivers on the Ati site, but when the installation has finished, nothing has changed. My driver is still the old man.

did you remove the old driver before installing a new one? The old driver must be removed and laptop rebooted and installed the new driver, then. Note, I read many threads on an installation driver from the vendor's site in this forum, as not recommended due to overheating which provided with the toshiba drivers updated

  • Z5200 PS: white vertical stripes appear of some graphs when printing posters - Z5200PS

When you generate posters in MS Publisher or MS PowerPoint sometimes a graphic placed on the page will create a white band of non-printing the image width from the top to the bottom of the page.  The only printing in this range is the image.  Not all images have this problem.  The white band does not appear in the image or preview before printing in the program.  The white stripe appears only in the preview before printing HP and on the printed poster.

This has happened with several posters, but not all.  The images associated with the banding have been removed and the white band is deleted.  The images will be edited, resized and otherwise modified but still liaising with the band.

A poster done with MS Publisher that produces the white vertical stripes with a few images when printing to the HP Z5200 PS is saved in Adobe Acrobat.  The Acrobat screen image is OK.  In Acrobat print preview is fine.  But when generating the preview before HP Print or print, the white vertical stripes in the graphics display.

I tried everything I can think of.  Posters of MS Publisher look OK on the screen.  The problem occurs only when printing or using the preview feature before printing HP for the HP5200.  The files printed without this problem on our old printer large format of 500 HP.

Any suggestions on the cause or solution?

Thank you.  Your suggestion has provided a fruitful work around.

The PDF file was the same problem that the Presenter MS leader had.  Due to the size of the MS Presenter file, error messages have been generated when trying to convert it to a JPG file.

But, I went back to the PDF of the MS Presenter file and used Acrobat Professional to convert it to several image formats and attempted to print the PDF file of the file MS Presenter image format.  It worked.  It's a very winding road, but it has provided acceptable results.

    Thanks again.

    Toshiba user,

  • Satellite M60-162: vertical and transparent stripe on the screen

    Hello

Satellite M60-162 appeared a transparent white vertical stripe on the screen of my laptop. The band is present at startup in the BIOS and in normal operation of the computer. How can I fix?

No doubt with the replacement of the screen.

A few years ago I had old Satellite M70 and it had a horizontal white line on the top of the screen. The line was also visible all the time, in the BIOS, when the home Toshiba screen showed and using OS.
I replaced the LCD screen and everything was OK again.

  • How to type letters accented with Satellite L300D?

I recently bought a Satellite L300D laptop and I need to be able to type in foreign languages.

On standard keyboards I use the Alt key as the numeric keypad to achieve, but I can't understand how this works on this laptop (holding Fn and Alt don't work not done using the alternative which is Ctrl + punctuation mark method). Can someone enlighten me as to how to type accents please?

    Thanks in advance.

As much as I know, you need to add your entry favorite languages and each of them will appear in the language bar. There you can switch between the languages selected.
I mean this is the same for Windows XP Home edition and now Vista and it has nothing to do with some certain model of laptop.

  • Re: Satellite L300D comes with the recovery disk?

    Hello

    I don't get a recovery disk when I bought my Satellite L300D.
Does anyone know if Satellite L300D is provided with the recovery disk?

As much I know computers made from the middle of 2007 aren't provided with the operating system recovery disks. How can I find out what year my satellite is made?

    Thank you very much

All new models of laptops including your are delivered without the recovery DVDs.
Recovery image is saved in the folder called HDDRecovery on the second partition.

Akuma is right. "You need to create a recovery media using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. The shortcut that you can find on the desktop. Please do so and for the creation of recovery media I recommend you to use media high quality as TDK or Verbatim DVD-R.

You can install OS using the F8 key at startup to the top. The guideline how to proceed you will find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
Note please. This can be done if this recovery image is not modified or if you install another operating system on the first partition. the second partition can be in original condition, but this F8 option will be gone.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

  • Satellite L300D-13s - how can I restore with corrupted disk 2

    The laptop is a Satellite L300D-13 s.

I tried to restore the laptop using the restore discs, the first disc has worked well, but he did not recognize the second disk. No matter what I have I could not get to read this disc.

I then tried the F8 option of us to restore the drive, but I got the missing Bootmgr message. I tried F8 using the DVD, but it doesn't have a restore option.

Using the option to boot with a record I did access the E drive and discovers the HDDRecovery directory but not found something that would allow me to run a restore.

Y at - it an option to do a restore in this way, or can I restore another way?

Your help would be appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

Recovery procedure can be performed on two tracks:
    -Via recovery CD/DVD or
    -From the HDD recovery procedure

If there is problem with the created discs, then you should try to use the second option. It works as follows:
-Start your laptop and press F8 for Advanced Startup Options
-Here you will see the option to fix my computer
-Choose this option and follow the on-screen menu.
-Then, you will encounter the system recovery options
-The last option is the Toshiba recovery procedure. Select it and follow the on-screen menu.

Please note: this will work if you didn t change partition structure, installed OS clean or deleted the folder HDDRecovery.

At the end I have to say, if nothing helps, and if you are not able to install the OS by using one of these methods I see a solution only: you must order the new recovery DVDs.

  • Re: Satellite L300D - HARD drive with unknown password recovery?

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L300D of second hand to a colleague and went on to restore its framework Moose per HARD drive recovery according to the guide of Toshiba
    Link: [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm]

I get to part 3 and find a current user name, to which the previous owner has no knowledge of, or a password in order to continue the process. Does this mean that the previous owner has locked the recovery process or there at - it a way to recover the system without the password?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hey,.

Theoretically, you could ask the colleague to the password ;)
HARD drive recovery is possible if you know the password, otherwise everyone could perform HARD drive recovery and would not be without danger.

Alternative, you can use the Toshiba recovery disc. It will be the same as the drive HARD recovery, factory settings will be restored too.

  • Re: Satellite L300D-13s - WiFi does not work with Vista

I have a L300D-13s that came with Visa Home Premium on it.

His work very well outside the wireless that refuses to work.
I always "Wireless Association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router.

    The wiresless is a Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802. 11b / g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network adapt
I am running the latest version of the BIOS and the 6.1148.924.2008 drivers dated 2008-09-24. If I use the latest drivers on the RealTek site, I get a message about an unknown error.

If I use the NETWORK Ethernet card, then he gets a fine IP address so this isn't the show indicator to publish.
Its not wireless security (I understand that Vista does not support WEP 128 bit). I turned off and it still does.

Other laptops running XP connect correctly and this laptop connects fine using no security or WEP or WAP so I boot Linux.
If the problem obviously lies with Vista and/or the drivers.

    If someone has solved this.

And no - don't tell me to go out and buy a router "Vista compatible".
If Vista does not work with router XP and other operating systems compatible with Vista is wrong.

    Hello

    > Other portable XP connect correctly and this laptop connects fine using no security or WEP or WAP so I boot Linux. If the problem obviously lies with Vista and/or the drivers.
I would say it is not a Vista problem or a Realtek driver problem because I have a Vista and Realtek WLan card and I can connect properly to my router.
In you case, I would say that there is a compatibility problem between the router and the Vista because as you said the laptop can connect properly using Linux.

I have goggled a bit and could solve most of the people who have had this issue, update the firmware on the router s.

Maybe you should try that too.

  • Satellite L300D begins only after the battery has been drained and recharged

I have a satellite L300D that has a problem at startup. Last week, it closed but got stuck on the "Disconnect" screen for a long time. Finally I manually turn it off by holding down the power button. Don't think no more of him it happened sometimes with my computers. However, when I went to turn it back on - it was nothing. Power lights came to the front of the computer, but not to screen at all. Could not even access the BIOS. Nothing. It was like that for several days.

Tried all the common solutions - removed battery, disconnect the power supply and press the power button - still nothing. Tried w/o - just AC, just the battery. Even stripped down to the motherboard to see if I could remove the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS but it is soldered on the motherboard. Put all back together, still nothing.

Finally, I had to recharge my cell phone using a USB adapter and given that the computer had power I tried the usb port and it worked (for example, I could charge the phone - still no screen on the computer). The computer's battery is dead and I plugged it in. That evening, after the battery was full, I tried the computer and it has perfectly worked. Started correctly, shut it down, restarted and it was fine. Unplugged this night there and reconnected again in the morning and... nothing. Just a black screen. No BIOS.

Killed the battery again then reloaded and now my computer is working again.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion her only the only one you can is update the BIOS like Akuma suggested. This problem is not related software so that s the only option you have I think. You can download the latest version of the BIOS here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If this is not the case, contact an authorized service provider please. Guys can fix all this hardware related problems can diagnose this problem. Maybe the motherboard or something else must be exchanged.

    Good luck! :)
