Satellite L305D-S5581 - dead BIOS

Hi all, I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L30D S5581.

The screen kept going all the time and research in some forums, he suggested that I update the Bios to 1.5 to 1.7
At halfway through the update, the screen went off and now when I turn it on it's just a white screen.

I still have power and can access a floppy drive by pressing the fn F start-up upward.
I read on the net about the crisis recovery disks but cannot find more information where to find the drive.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Mant thanks Cliff

Hello

Turned something went wrong during the process of updating the BIOS, and so you can not properly start the laptop.

It seems that you will need assistance from EPA.
Why? Because the CMOS should be erased and BIOS should be updated using the crisis disk BIOS.
The crisis BIOS disk is available for ASP.

Then get in touch with the local ASP which would solve this problem for you.

Good luck

    Hello guys,.

I have problems with the satellite L305D (PSLC8U) friend. I've upgraded to windows 7. In support of product, I read that in order to use windows 7 I have to upgrade the bios of the laptop to the latest version (1.80).

I tried to upgrade from Windows because it is how the upgrade utility works (once I have downloaded and run the utility started the upgrade automatically). At halfway through the computer upgrade became unresponsive and display deleted. I let it rest for a while and that nothing happened after half an hour I have pulled the plug and the battery.

Now, when I turn the laptop on the screen is empty (even the screens backlight does not illuminate) the CD rom has a certain activity and nothing happens.

I searched in many places and the method of recovery below and I try to follow this but nothing happens:

"Using another computer if necessary do the following:

    (1) download the file for your model laptop BIOS "*.exe" since the Support section. Mine was: slm0v150.exe
    (2) extract the files from the file "*.exe".
    (3) locate the file that ends with ".fd", it's your actual BIOS file.
    * (for different brand BIOS, the file may have a different extension such as ROM or .bin)
    (4) rename your BIOS file to: "BIOS.fd" without the quotes.
    (5) format a USB Flash drive (FAT or FAT32) file system.
    (6) copy your 'BIOS.fd' newly named file in the root directory of the Flash drive. (Not inside all folders)

On the damaged computer, follow these steps:

    (7) remove the battery, adapter sector and hard drive.
    (8) plug the Flash drive with your "BIOS.fd" file on the subject into a USB port.
    (9) while holding down the button Fn and F on your keyboard:
    (a) connect the adapter to your computer.
    (b) hold the Power button until the computer turns on.
    (c) release the power button and the two keys once you hear the fan turn.
    (10) see your flashing, Flash Drive LED wait that your computer turns off and remove the Flash drive.
    (11) replace the battery and hard drive.
    (12) you're computer should be all set! »

In my case, the laptop does not access the USB key (the led on the USB key does not blink).

I also tried to use the same flies on a CD, and the only thing that happens, is that it reads the CD and then nothing.

I even tried to use the flashing the BIOS utility on American support to Toshiba site where the utility allows me to create a CD bootable and Flash the bios from the CD. The same result.

The laptop uses the insyde BIOS.

Please help me because I'm desperate

  • Satellite A500-1DN (PSAR3E) - Dead BIOS after flashing

    Hi all.
First of all, sorry for my English.

My problem is simple, I have a bios dead after flashing Toshiba service station (or something like that).

How it happened? : 4 days ago, it asked me to update. It was for me quite normal because she asked for updates on a daily basis. I enablished day and after a few cliks on button then I noticed it has been updated to BIOS and is almost in half. I wanted to wait to the end (because I know if I stop uptade of bios, I end up with dead bios (bios corrupted)) but collapsed almost at the end and he showed me a few errors. After that my laptop did a restart and I couldn't stop it. He died.

Now, if I push the power button / stop I get a screen black (as it is off) som LED turns on and the Cpu fan to perhaps 10%.

What I did the last 3 days? : I searched all the residents on what to do with it. I tried maybe 10 types out crisdisks with usb and CD (with floppy isn't becose Bios for my laptop is too big for 1 floopy).
I tried to start with FN + B this has worked for me CD player began to search for CDs, USB key showed activity, but dead end happened nothing. I tried to make the Boot usb with the latest minidos.sys and phlash16.exe. I tried to combinate but still nothing.
I tried everything I found on internet forums around. Nothing helps.
Another thing is that only bios I found was 1.90. If anyone has an older bios for my laptop pls give me a link. I'm losing hope becose I can not find anithing on google.
I am an advenced user I almost did this medication with the pc, but I've never worked with dead bios.

Pls someone help me and give me a correct crisdisk for my model. Or another sugestion.

    Hello

Sorry, mate, but you should contact the http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/ ASP.

Unfortunately, the warranty does not cover failure of the bios and you will have to pay about US $ 50-60 (anyway, it costs like that in my service center)

    Hello

As I see you have a model of cell phone US. I checked the U.S. Toshiba download page, and I see there is not so many drivers for Windows XP available home edition and your laptop isn't totally WXP supported. So when you install Windows XP Home edition you will have problems to find all the necessary drivers.

There is no driver chipset or display. Current drivers are missing and I don't really know what you can do about it. Of course, you can try to install these drivers of page European and I hope that they will not work correctly.

Check http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads and choose Satellite L300D.
You will find all the available drivers for Windows XP Home edition. As I've written before, I hope that you can use. I have no experience with the American models.

  • Satellite L305D-S5934 - after the stop, the light is always on

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934 two weeks ago.

Here lately, I can't seem to stop completely. I select the closing down in the start menu. It seems closed down (the screen becomes black) but the power light is still, and I can hear noises inside as if it was still running.

    I am running Windows Vista.

    Hello

This question seems always? I mean is it a permanent status that your laptop won't turn on properly? Or is it that sometimes?

To my knowledge the Vista default action for the power in the Start Menu button is sleep. If your laptop does not but would go in the mode 'sleep'.
You can change it as described here:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/change-the-Windows-Vista-power-buttons-to-shut-down/

In addition, you should check if your BIOS is up to date.
Choose your model of laptop (it seems like an American series) and download the compatible BIOS.

    Check it!

  • Satellite L305D-S5895 - keys to functions and the wifi does not work with Win XP

    Hello

    first sorry for my English

I bought a Toshiba Satellite l305d s5895, with Windows XP, I need a software, but the function keys does not work.
So I need a driver, but I can't, and wireless internet does not work.

    > Where could it find special XP BIOS?
In my opinion, there is problem because most threads here are on the European laptop models. then come to question United States. Toshiba Europe and Toshiba U.S. do not work together and each of them is responsible for own models and provide support for specific country notebooks models.

For most models, so here in Europe Toshiba has offered two BIOS. We were already on the delivered Vista laptops. The Toshiba page download available BIOS for Windows XP Home edition. in most cases, it was version 5. XX and this BIOS was designed to support public services and specific tools of Toshiba. For example, all the FN key features was only available with this BIOS WXP.

So if any of you have laptop model US they would see how the solution with Toshiba U.S. or US forum under http://community.compuserve.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=ws-laptop&redirCnt=1

  • Satellite L305D S5895: Win 7 cannot find the HARD drive or cannot format the HARD drive on a clean install

I have laptop Satellite L305D S5895 of the customer. It was delivered to me by the customer who tried to install Windows XP Pro, Vista and none would install.
He said he tried all the CD that he had finally dropped on it and delivered it to me installation.

When I got the score have been removed, so I tried to install Win 7 and when I do a custom install, I get an error indicating that the hard drive can not be formatted on disk 0 or it will give an error that no hard drives have been found.

I have reset the bios default and no matter what I do, it won't format or find the hard drive. I was going to upgrade the bios, but the only way I found to upgrade the bios is once windows is installed.

Everyone has ideas about this laptop so I can get a system installed. I checked the bios and there is no parameters for a sata, raid or IDE disk drive, so it seems that this version cannot be changed.

Thanks for anyone who can help you.

    Hello

First of all it is an American notebook series.

The laptop supports a processor AMD and ATI chipset.
This means that the drivers SATA is part of the ATI graphics card driver.

You must include the first SATA driver in order to install the Windows operating system.
You could add the SATA driver for the Windows disk using software like nLite / vLite

  • IKEA kitchenplanner 3D does not start at the Satellite L305D

Toshiba Satellite L305D-105, with Vista, all installed updates, browser, IE9.

When you install the kitchenplanner 3D of IKEA, the computer responds with a response DEP (data execution protection) and close the browser.

After the exclusion of the DEP control IE9, nothing has changed, browser close to execution.

Tried another browser, Firefox and Chrome, were also blocked.

It seems that control material for DEP in the Toshiba is too strong.

Any ideas to restore control of the DEP to the laptop.

    Jaap Boot,

    Hey,.

I put t think that it s a related problem of Toshiba, especially if everything else works correctly and only the plane of IKEA Kitchen not.

You must contact the IKEA online technical support so it s a known issue. Perhaps there is a newer version or update is necessary. Don t get me wrong, but in this case you need assistance to IKEA because they know everything about their own products.

Is knowledge how laptop computer recovery without a disk?

I am new to this problem
So please if you know how to do
Note please the specific details to show me how to

    Thank you!

    Hello!

First of all, you should check the user manual. There you can find all the details on how to recover a Toshiba laptop.

In any case, if your laptop came without recovery disk you can create one using the Toshiba recovery disc creator. That's why you need one or two DVDs and then you have factory on a DVD.
If you created the recovery disk, you can boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. Windows will be reinstalled, and you get back to factory settings.

But you can also recovery a Toshiba laptop without recovery disk. So go to the F8 advanced boot menu and choose fix my computer. Now, you can choose the Toshiba Recovery option and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, you can search a bit in the forum. You will find a sufficient number of threads on the recovery procedure.
In addition, you must check this document:
