Satellite L50 - B - 1 K 1 - touchpad Linux mint

I have a Toshiba satellite L50 B 1 k 1, after I installed Linux mint and I can't do the touchpad works, I need to use an external mouse
Ι tried to press FN + f5 key in order to activate the touchpad, but unfortunately it is combination drives to the DISPLAY mode where normally should come out with the key FN + f4 , any ideas?

When I go to the control panel mouse and pad touch I can see the external mouse and SynPS/2 Synaptics touchpad recognized by the system... both are enabled, but the touchpad does not work

Problem, it's that Toshiba does not support Linux so you will not be able to find lots of information about Linux on Toshiba laptops.

Try to check some Linux forum. You may be able to get a useful tip to other Linux users.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 6: Synaptics touchpad does not work often

    Hi guys,.

    I have a problem with my touch pad. my laptop is Satellite L50 - A - 1 6.
Often the key stop working when I use multi touch gestures, and a few seconds later it starts working again.

But sometimes it stops work and I have to restart the pc.
I think it's a driver issue, but I have reinstalled the driver, hard reset on my pc, but nothing.
If use the pc without synaptics drivers, it's all ok, but I can't use the multitouch gestures.

    You have any ideas?

    Sorry for my English

    Thank you bye

When did you notice this problem of gesture touchpad? Has ID been published since the first day of purchase?

It would be interesting to know how the touch pad gesture control and multi would work using the original software/driver from Synaptics page:

  • Satellite L50-B-211 - Touchpad does not work

    Hi I have a question

We just bought a Satellite L50-B-211, but the touchpad is not working properly.
Move the pointer autour is no problem, but the buttons do not work.

Using the buttons does nothing, left or right clicking has no effect?
If I want to get the properties of a file right-clicking does not work?
    (two fingers press work)

The hardware is correctly installed, there is no problem in the configuration of the device.

Do I have to return the device (before installing our software / config the device to our needs)
or is this a software bug?

According to specification for laptop, your laptop was supplied with Win8.1 pre-installed so that all the necessary drivers are installed and all hardware should work fine.

Try please check all the touchpad settings and check if changing the settings has positive effect.
What you can try to do is to reinstall the original recovery image and test once more with the factory settings. If the result will be the same, I recommend you to contact your dealer as soon as possible and explain the situation. Ask if you can get the new machine.

  • Satellite L50-B-166: Webcam + microphone does not work under Linux

    Hello

    I'm under Linux Slackware 14.1 with kernel 4.11 on a Satellite L50-B-166.

Webcam and microphone are not detected by the system, and I can't find the firmware and the module for them.

    Can someone help me?

    Hello

I get the Webcam work properly in Fedora 22 core 4.0.6 (Incidentally, kernel 4.11 does not yet exist, so what kernel do you use )
I suggest therefore that you check the software for the Webcam settings is not simply disabled:

    F2 at the STATION
Go to advanced > system configuration
Make sure the Webcam is turned on.

  • Satellite L50-B-192 with Linux, no compatibility issues?

    Hello world

I would buy a new PC, almostly Toshiba Satellite L50-B-192.
In fact, I heard that a lot of people found that it is difficult to install linux, and many could she!, any body have had such an experience?
Would you recommend buy me this model. I'll use for some applications, graphics, programming and development.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

    Hello

I think that you will have a good experience in running a late version of Linux on this model. Just trying to get a 4 core...
The biggest problem I've seen with L50 - B, it's that the maps non - Intel WLAN don't work under Linux yet.
But your model appear to have an Intel WIFI card, so you should be fine.
If you download and install the kernel 4.1 I think even shortcut keys can behave very well.

  • Satellite L50-B-127 - some keys are not working and touchpad blocks constantly

Before leave here an apology because I'm Portuguese and my English level is very low.

    My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L50 B 127

Lately, I noticed some anomalies which appeared me on my computer (which should take about a year). When I speak of anomalies refer to the keys you use rarely, and at this stage do not work (example: arrow left, Z,...)
Not to mention that I noticed that my touchpad is constantly blocking, that is to say after the buttons to work, the cursor does not move, being sometimes more than 20 seconds to wait for the cursor to return to normal.

If anyone has had this problem or knows the cause and the solution? Recognizing a response as soon as possible

Hello everyone, I'm here to post my problem that has caused me a lot of problems and troubles and especially apologize because that throughout this text should meet several errors since my English level is low

My computer is a toshiba satellite L50 B 127 and has a little more than a year of use

Lately, I found some anomalies in my computer including some keys from one day to the other crashed, these keys are not widely used (arrow to the left, z, dash). In addition, my touchpad has been constantly block of minutes in minutes, even if the buttons on the touchpad still work, the truth is that the block cursor for a few seconds and then comes back to work as if nothing had happened. In 10 minutes, however this situation occurred four times

I would be grateful if someone knew the reason why this happens or even the solution to answer me as soon as possible

  • Linux on Satellite L50 - B - 1 HM

    Hello

I want to buy the Toshiba Satellite L50 - B - 1 Hm and I would like to know if its possible to install ubuntu or other linux with windows preinstalled.

    Thank you.

It is possible to install the Linux system on Toshiba laptops, but Toshiba does not provide official support for Linux systems, and therefore, you will not find detailed instructions or special Linux drivers for this laptop

So you will need to install this system with your own hands, but of course you will find a lot of information and instructions, especially in communities of Linux which will help you solve installation problems.

  • Re: A Satellite L50-A111X - problems with right click on the touchpad

    Hello users,.

I bought a new toshiba Satellite L50-A111X, I do not have that there is a problem or weither right click on his mouse touch pad is not available at all.

    Help, please.
    Thanks in advance

You click right using internal touchpad laptop s or is the problem also appears using an external USB mouse connected to the computer laptop s USB port?

As Timox already said, it would be very useful for troubleshooting more if you could provide more details.

  • Click left and right touchpad does not work on Satellite L50

I have a new laptop Satellite L50 CI3. However, it seems there is a problem with the left and right keys on the touchpad.

Right-click behaves like a left click i.e. it does not open a menu.

Left click cannot drag and drop, including when you use the scroll bars.

I reinstalled everything, but nothing has changed. Is this a common problem? Is this likely to a hardware or software problem?

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here. Have you noticed this problem on there first day of use?
I mean when you start your laptop for the first time that it has original factory settings and everything should be OK.

If I just understand that there is some response when you use the touchpad buttons so that you can try is to set all the options of touchpad on default settings.

  • Satellite L50 - after Win10 touchpad upgrade does not

Brand-new Satellite L50-C03E laptop pad touch does not work. Upgrade to Windows 10. Tried using all combinations of F5, FN & F5, don't hit to swipe and checking settings and nothing works.

I guess you can use external USB mouse.
Connect it to the laptop and uninstall the old touchpad software / driver for Windows 10 system. You should find it in Control Panel → programs and features.

After the the touchpad driver has been removed, restart the laptop and win 10 updates.

It would be very interesting to know if this solution allows you to get the touchpad working again.

  • Satellite L50-B-1NL - how to disable tap-to-click on the touchpad?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1NL running on Windows 8.1. I am trying to turn off the tap to click on the touchpad, option I think it's way of sensitive causes increased frustration.

I searched on Google and it says there is an option to turn of the touchpad, but when I go in my option to disable settings, it is the only one missing? Is there a way I can turn off the tap to click as it makes me mental.

If I understand you well want to disable touchpad, right.
You can do this using the combination of keys FN + F5 or F5 key only.

Please open the operating manuals and page 58. It you and find information very useful on the use of the F-keys.

  • L50-b-24 x satellite overheating (Linux Mint)

    Hello
my new laptop (where I removed Windows and installed Linux Mint) has a big problem of overheating.
The temperature suddenly reached peaks of 70-80 c, even when the pc is idle. Then only I can hear fan spinning.
I tried to change the configuration of grub as well, as suggested:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_osi ="Linux"" "

This seems to bring a small improvement: there are less frequent peaks, but they are always there...
    Any suggestion?

    Hello

This device is an i7 with external graphic.
The two components will generate heat when used.

You can check if there is a single process that pic when your temp goes up.
You may disable any background service... ?

As for AMD, you use the source driver full or closed?
In any case, it may be useful test the other (change what you use to another).
Maybe that can reduce the production of heat?

Ultimately, check the version of the kernel.
Kernel is currently at 4.3. Some interesting changes AMD has been implemented since 4.2.
Don't think they are related cooling, but maybe it's worth a try.

  • Satellite L50-C-215: failure to install Win7 via the USB port, pb and toshiba.bg bug ' workshop

Satellite L50-c-215 is a laptop sold without optical drive or OS.

    We bought it today.

    Questions:

-We were told "it is compatible with windows 7", but what a salesman said, everything can be downloaded from the Web from Toshiba site
-While watching the Web from Toshiba site, a link says 'no system operating inside'. Link is corrupt
-2 "official" companies are listed for the Bulgarian Web from Toshiba site are wrong: nobody told on the phone that they are not official support from Toshiba

    Technical questions:

-J' tried to put several Windows 7 ISO on a USB key, using the official Microsoft tool and Rufus, but I got error that says "CD/DVD Driver is missing."
-In some forums, it is said that test the spirit of the thing that a USB 2.0 can solve if USB 3.0 will fail. Each USB failed.

    Sales question:

-Although the European commercial law says people have a little more time to restore a non-working product and be reimbursed, when we returned to the computer at the Technopolis shop a few hours after the purchase, employees told us ' problem is not hardware: we do not cancel the sale, we can take over the computer and give your money. " "Problem is software: see with Toshiba.
The best we could get was the address of a computer service non-Toshiba to try to ask if they might be able to install Windows 7

I already spent half a day working on it
What can we do to install Windows 7 or get the computer returned and refunded?

    Tried Tnings at night:

-> Intall Ubuntu 12.04: card WiFi can't work, no Ethernet cable to update from the Internet

The drivers are on the website of Intel, but solution install require packages to download on the internet, not USB

-> Last Debian version: error starting in the command line

-> 14.04 installed, Ubuntu box checked during installation to use the Intel Wifi device
Re: software WiFi cannot connect. Spent a few hours on forums to try to understand how to install the Intel USB drivers. Does not work.

For people who want to buy this model, try to get a player of optical disk to install Windows, a good cable to Linux, update or be prepared to spend time and money for the service simply be able to use the computer.

Oh, another thing: Technopolis company is not able to provide you with enough information before buying a product. I will not say that they rip off, but almost: especially to overseas buyers, buy refusal refund to anyone who is not able to have an argument that was screaming in Bulgarian with them.

  • Question of the animation to boot Windows on Satellite L50-A-1F2

    Hi guys,.

I installed Linux on my Satellite L50-A-1F2, and now when I start Windows, after the grub is sometimes very good, sometimes I see the stripes, or the Windows boot animation biased... sometimes, like now, I see the image of grub instead of the classic Windows logo. Everything works fine, Windows loading perfectly... but if anyone can solve this problem that makes me happy.

Thank you! Sorry for my English!

    Hello

I think that your problem is a gesture of challenge related to the Linux installed.
Probably, Boot Manager Windows 8.1 has been replaced by GRUB in Linux and that's why the start-up procedure search differently.

I have no solution for you, but recommend you to check a few FAQ and HowTo to configure GRUB

Try you update BIOS under Linux OS?

You must use the preinstalled Windows system in order to update BIOS!
The update of the BIOS is not possible using Linux!
