Satellite L50 - B - 14 M completely dead - no power not on

Hi all

I am now the proud owner of a Toshiba Satellite L50 B 14 M, since a few days it serves not on at all. When it is pressed the button at the top right (even for al longer) nothing happens, not even a little noise or a flash of light. He remains completely dead and will not turn on at all. Haven't tried with adapter connected / not connected / without battery still no change. The laptop was not abandoned or in a hurry or anything strange I just pressed the power button to continue working on it.

Tips / advice is much appreciated! Best regards, Jan

Hello

It's really not easy to say what may be wrong with that. Unplug the AC adapter / CC, remove the battery and press the power button for about 20 seconds. After doing this leave for a while and connect the power supply only.

DC in / battery indicator lit?
What happens when you press the button walk / stop? Is there a reaction?

  • Satellite M70 - LCD display is completely dead

    Hello

I have SatelLite pro M70 PSM76E and I it has following problem
When I try to turn on, LCD is completely dead. I have connected the CRT and it seems to start ok but when it goes to windows it freezes and restarts after a few seconds.
I think this is not problem with OS because when I use the recovery CD and knoppix cd LCD screen is always black. Maybe that's the problem with the graphics card or motherboard.

I do not have a manual to disassemble to clean my M70 inside.

I would find myself solution before going to the service.

If you get an image on the external monitor, but not on the internal, it sounds like a failure of inverter FL. It controls the backlight of the screen and must be replaced.

I recommend you contact an ASP in your country. They can disassemble the laptop and exchange the part. I m sure they will help you.

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait 1 hour or more and then reconnect the two parts.
Then try again to power the unit.

If that does not help, check out the RAM modules.
Remove a module and test the device with a RAM module.

Hi, I'm newbie here. This is my first post, so sorry for the plain text.

I have a problem with the laptop Satellite L50-B-177 1 month of my wife. After update BIOS (from Toshiba Service Station) to version 1.70 I have this problem: it is impossible to use symbols of Polish that comes with ALT + z, ALT + x, ALT + c. other - ALT + a - works normally.

Problem is the operating system independent (even on the live session of Ubuntu). I understand that this is a specific problem for the location of the Poles, but causes cell useless for my wife (she is a teacher and write a lot of text). As much as I know BIOS downgrade is not available for customers, and the weeks of waiting for the new package of BIOS is out of the question.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This problem occurred imadiately after updating the BIOS?

Have you tried to set the BIOS settings by default once the update is complete?

Also, check if the Polish keyboard language was chosen correctly and as a default value.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 6: "boot loop" at power on

    Hello world.

I have a Satellite L50 - A - 1 6 (just bought). I changed the HARD drive partitions in order to better utilize the space. Then I tried to create the recovery from the preinstalled recovery partition disk (However this was not changed!), but it did not work. It was posted this message: "the recovery partition was not found.

So I tried to restore factory settings (as explained in the guide, press '0' at the beginning upward).
After that, my laptop computer goes into "boot loop", and it continues to go in the boot loop every time I turn it on. The boot loop here is summerized: + logo (leading to innovation) toshiba-> error message (.. .has been detected a problem... etc etc)-> black screen-> logo toshiba (leading to innovation)-> ecc. ECC. +

    The only possible operations are:
-to power the laptop off (by turn off by pressing the key)
-to access Bios (by pressing the F2 key)
but later, the laptop comes back still in boot loop.

I also tried to set up an order of boot device for the use of tools like "live recovery cd" or similar (also USB)... but nothing... He always goes in the city "boot loop".

Any suggestion to have the correct start of my laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

This does not surprise me. You have changed the partition table, and therefore the partitions of HARD drive will be more found.

    > So I tried to restore factory settings (as explained in the guide, press '0' at the beginning upward). After that, my laptop computer goes into "boot loop", and it continues to go in the boot loop every time I turn it on. This does not work for the reason that I mentioned above. The disk HARD recovery isn't possible now!

I recommend you to use stop force switch:

  • Satellite L50 - B - 1 P 1 - external screen does not work

I just bought a satellite P L50-B-1 1. When I tried to connect the port RGB (VGA) to a TV (as an external monitor), the laptop screen became smaller and the right part of the whole picture was absent, even when the external monitor is not turned on.

The screen of the laptop on the left and right show a black background. The image is in the middle. It's supposed to be normal or something is wrong with this laptop?

    All the answers are welcome

As I understood the message, you have activated the external display output and can see the image on the TV.
The question is; What resolution the TV taken in charge and which external output option selected?

The point is that you can switch to the external display by choosing the option; Extended desktop, display clone or you can turn off the internal display and broadcast the image on the external monitor TV.

In case you cloned display, two screens (internal + external) must use the same resolution! Where the TV would be favourable to a lower resolution, the internal laptop screen would reduce the resolution too!

I recommend you read the user manual it provides some basic knowledge of laptop

  • Satellite L50 - B - 21 G: abandon WLan connection / power issue

I bought my laptop about six weeks ago and its driving me crazy. I could be sitting with him and suddenly I lose the internet connection, I try to reconnect, but cannot as he seems to have "abandoned" the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter. I'm not very irritable but sees someone else has had this problem and follow a few instructions to restore the previous driver for the network adapter, but it just made things worse.

In addition, I can never turn my laptop. If I choose the "shut down" option then it turns off, but there is always a light flashing around the power button. I heard he's going a few hybrid sleep, but I had instructions to stop this, but again its happening. I can't just press the power button to restart the laptop it restarts with the loss of the network adapter (see above), so I sit in pressing and holding the button several times until it restarts finally with the back working network adapter.

If I just stopped the lid (as I applied this option overall upwards), then three hours I can just return, press a button and begin to work, however, once again, I can not because the network adapter is down and I have to then push and hold the power button (that choose shut down doesn't seem to work).

This laptop was designed to replace an old ADVENT that caused me grief, but I'm done with nothing else than a box of junk that I want to throw. Worse yet, I'm not at all way techy am so not able to do what many of you can do to correct problems so I tried to find a phone number to call Toshiba and never get an option to type in what is my problem and then follow the online help that I tried and does not work! Y at - there someone who can give me a number for Toshiba that I can call for help if I need help more than anybody can give me here? Thank you.

I have already answered in another thread with the similar question of Wlan and I guess it could be a related issue of energy saving:

    Reach:
Windows power options - choose the right central - advanced power options.
Search of the WLan card settings and set it to "best performance".
You must also set the parameters for the PCI express for the 'best performance '.

In addition, go to the Device Manager. Choose here the Wlan card properties
Switch to the last tab called "Power Management" and make sure that the option available in this tab is not checked!

  • Toshiba Satellite L50 - B of the Bios date and time to reboot

    Hello.
I have Toshiba Satellite L50 - B for more than a year. I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB and it works fine. But the last 10 days of the BIOS date and time keeps restarting by default whenever I turned off or in hibernation laptop. My battery is dead, but I'm not, it reloads all the time and restart the BIOS after that I have unplug the phone charger. I think that the CMOS battery is dead, but when I open the laptop there is no CMOS battery. Someone told me that this model has a kind of Flash for the time of the bios chip. How can I fix it?

Get a new battery and will be all good.

  • Satellite L50-C-22 - update of victory 10 home win 10 Pro

Summary: I have a new Toshiba laptop, pre-installed with 10 Home X 64 Windows and want to update, as simply and not destructive as possible to 10 Pro Windows.

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50 - C - 22 L last month and, overall, I'm very happy with it. He moved in with MS Windows 10 (X 64) running on 8 GB of RAM and works well. I have a couple of other machines running Windows 10 Pro and missed some additional features, so I bought a Pro product key. I had assumed that I would go to the settings screen, choose the 'Activation' option and then click the button change the product key. My new key would be accepted and the system should perform an upgrade in-place to Windows Pro 10.

Which has proved to be a little ambitious.

The process failed with the message "the product key you entered cannot be used to activate this edition of Windows. Please try a different key. I spoke to Microsoft and they have confirmed the key that it is authentic, but suggest it only works if I rubbed and rebuilt laptop computer with a new installation, registering the new product key to a suitable place in the build process. (This raises the question of what the "Change product key" button is a commercial copy of the OS, but that's another story).

My question is, can I follow the instructions to create a recovery on the laptop media to recover a version of the PC factory reset, but change to include the key product Pro Win 10? If I understand correctly, if there is a WIM file as part of the recovery media, it contains all versions of Windows 10 32 - bit and 64 - bit. Installed the final version is 'unlocked' by the product key. This depends, however, how Toshiba packaged installation of recovery files and if they can be twisted this way.

Of course, there may be a more obvious way to achieve the same goal I'm missing completely, so any other suggestions gratefully received.

    Thanks for reading,

  • Satellite L50 - B - 1DV Win8.1 - Windows Update error 0 x 80070057

    Hello

Toshilba Satellite L50-B-1DV my son has not run successfully a Windows Update since last October - I only discovered this yesterday.

When I had a look at the updates and pretty nearly any type of troubleshooting, I try, fails with the error message "0 x 80070057. I have rooted online but can not see any patches, obvious.

We would prefer to solve ourselves, but that machine is that six months our next step is to take it back to John Lewis for repair - which would be a shame because he uses his laptop everyday.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Mark

    Hello

You mentioned the error 0 x 80070057 during installation of the update.
This error occur due to several reasons and that's why it s not easy to say why this happens exactly. But the most common cause can be the missconfigured or damaged registry system reserved partition.

    My recommendation for the workaround:
Try to repair the system and the registry using CCLeaner. You can use this freeware software for cleaning the registry and to remove the garabage system.

If this is not enough, try to repair the operating system using the own options of the system.
The "automatic repair" option tries automatically to diagnose and resolve problems that may cause Windows 8 not at the beginning or have different behavior of evil.
Auto repair starts automatically when Windows cannot start properly. If it finds problems, it will automatically try to fix it, but it can also be started manually.

Access to the auto repair located on Windows 8 start screen. Now "Advanced" in the search box. When the search results display, click on the category of "settings".

Now, click on the "advanced boot options" option and you will see the screen "General PC settings. Look for the option "Advanced startup". Click the restart and Windows 8 will restart your computer to directly access the advanced boot menu.

Click the "Troubleshooting", then on the button 'Advanced Options '. Click on the option "automatic repair". Your computer will now reboot and Windows is preparing the auto repair. When it's done, you log on to an administrator account.

Click on the "Continue" button to continue the auto repair. Automatic repair will now start and attempt to diagnose the problem with your computer.

During the process of auto repair, your computer may restart. It is a normal behavior. Once completed the automatic repair process, he will let know you if she has been able to repair anything. If this isn't the case, you will see a prompt asking you if you want to stop or use other tools.

If your computer is still unable to start, you need to click on the 'Advanced Options' button, then select "Troubleshooting" and finally "Advanced Options." For an auto repair failed, please try the built-in windows 'System restore' using the recovery media or the option "Reset".

    > I think that my last resort looking for a factory system by default re install... but one have a mountain of things astro which must be saved and cannot be done through many many discs

Even if it s really painful to get everything installed it again, I would recommend to recover the laptop using the Toshiba recovery disc or HARD drive recovery.

    > Could I have really damaged the MB. ??
Well, it's hard to say before trying the recovery procedure.
If the USB ports are not working after using the recovery disk (or HDD recovery), then of course: the mobo may be affected, therefore, in my view, the laptop must be set to the factory settings.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 7 does not start

A month or 2 ago, I had the same problem. I feel that I can go anywhere with my problem so here is my last hope.

So first of all, there is a moment that I was using my laptop Toshiba L50 - has - 1 7 during the evening. I put on the mode 'sleep', lay on the ground and go to sleep. The next morning, I decided to use my laptop again, but it wouldn't start. The single LED light that worked was that it was the battery being fed or whatever. Done quite some research and I wanted to disconnect the battery of my laptop but I discovered that the battery is supposed to stay connected. Instead, there is a switch force or something. I just have to go in there with a needle, click and hold the button for 30 - seconds-ish and it would be identical to unload my PC or something else.

I tried, but nothing happ-ERA and I contacted the online store where I ordered it to help. They have not really give any useful information and I was getting enough. They do not have help me to think about the problem, they just kept saying that I had to return it. I asked how long it would take and if I lose files. They said there is a chance of losing files and it would take more than 3 weeks. I can't really lose my cell phone for more than 5 days! It's quite a disaster because I need every day my laptop.

In the morning, after that I decided to retry the stop switch to force thingy. I held the Start button and after a 10 - ish seconds there once again. All current progress was saved, and it was as if nothing had happ-ERA since then. I still had on the browsers and file op - en. Quite a miracle and a lot of luck involved. I don't like not how, but this worked so I stopped looking for answers. A day later, the same thing happ-ERA again. But this time, I just closed and ERP - ERA my laptop. This triggered somehow it of sleepmode and it worked again. So that's what I kept the past month. Some days, that I had to reboot my pc for updates but then I just clicked restart instead of shutdown down.

Now, today I had to go and he gave me a typical firewall error when in the game so I decided to shut it down (for the first time since I had these problems). I come back home and I have the same problem again... Now I have even more scared that it won't start because it is now completely off and no "standby mode". I tried o-p-e-n-i-n-g my laptop once again, by using the switch to stop, but it did not help to get started.

    Hi Sil22

I'm scared of m that this awakening / power on the subject indicate that there is a serious problem with the material.
As you mentioned in your post, force to shut down the unit should help to stop/Reset of the laptop where it is hung.

But as I understand the question, the laptop has been turned on properly and probably in this case this switch would not be very.
I m not very good if you will be able to solve this problem without the help of additional service.
In the worst case I recommend you contact Toshiba ASP (authorized in your country service provider) in order to check the laptop for possible hardware malfunction.
All FSA available worldwide could be found here: http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

    But you issue:
Even if you have already tried the force stop switch I recommend checking of workaround steps once more:
Disconnect the power adapter and use a an object from sliding into the hole to support the force stop switch. Please hold switch 10 sec long.
Then you must also press on and press and hold the power for 30 seconds about

After that, connect the AC adapter and check if the power light is on.
If it s ON, then it means that the power supply is provided correctly to the laptop.
Now press power button again to power the unit in place.

If it works, well, then I recommend you update the BIOS of your laptop.
The latest version of the BIOS can be downloaded here:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    Choose the Satellite L50 PSKK6E
Also Windows system should be updated to the latest state!

Where workaround is not helpful, I recommend using ASP.

  • Satellite L50 - C - impossible to update Realtek Wireless LAN Driver

    Hello

Whenever I try to install the Driver Realtek Wireless LAN 2023.17.731.2015 using Toshiba Service Station, the program starts and the permissions window arrives, I click Yes but nothing happens. No other window does not appear, and the update is still in service station as if nothing happened.
Is there any fixes for this?

    I am using a Satellite L50 - C

    Thanks for any info

It could be interference from program, first go into your software settings in your BIOS, go to security and disable secure boot. This can sometimes prevent update programs. And then perform a clean boot, follow these instructions to make a boot minimum https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
Then, disable your antivirus and firewall completely and run the update again.

Well, the procedure for the RAM upgrade is a bit tricky. There is no RAM module Bay separated with easy access.

To access the free RAM slot, the plastic cover of the bottom must be removed.
You need to remove the ODD (optical disc) as well as the battery and next by the screws around the cover.

But remove the cover would mean that you would negate the warranty.

I put t know if you want to lose the warranty, I think that security is a very important fact which should be considered before performing this upgrade procedure.
