Satellite L50 - B has slow WiFi speed

Hello

I got this laptop last month but I'm really disappointed because it was a bloody slow wifi connection.

I've already updated my wireless drivers, but nothing happens. The funny thing is I have an another old laptop, but it has a speed great wifi.

I already try to do a speedtest of them both in the same place at the same time but my acer got 10-15mbps but my toshiba receives only 1-2 Mbps and it is very frustrating.

I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter and I have read a few problems with this adapter. Please if someone who can help me with my problem.

I'll sort to buy an external wifi adapter if necessary.

Using some devices Bluetooth as part of this Satellite phone?
Bluetooth is turned on? If so, turn the Bluetooth off and test the performance of the WiFi.

I read in some discussions that the simultaneous use of WiFi and Bluetooth may affect the performance of the Wifi.

  • Satellite L50 - B has very low-speed Wi - Fi

Hello, I have a problem with my new B - L50 (bought yesterday for my son). The internet connection is very slow while my other laptop works very well. And if I go away from more than 5 metres from the Wi - Fi hotspot, no more connection!

Can someone help me? Is this a problem with the Wi - Fi card (at the bottom of the range)?
    Thanks for your help

What kind of standard Wi - Fi do you currently use?
The WLan card standard can be changed:
-> WLan card device manager-> properties-> Advanced tab

Also I recommend you to check the Windows Advanced Power options.
Within the option to advanced, you'll find the setting for a Wi - Fi connection.
It might be possible that the Wi - Fi power option reduces performance of a Wi - Fi connection in order to save the battery.

Finally and above all it s always advisable to perform the update of the WLan driver (if new version is available)

If this workaround solution does not help, I recommend you contact the Toshiba ASP to verify the Wlan card. Signed low might be related to problems within the WLan module or antenna...

  • Satellite L50-B-1N8 - weak wifi signal

    Hello

So two weeks ago, I bought a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite L50-B-1N8 of Argos.

He never had too good a force wifi signal (bars never complete - even when sitting next to the wifi router) but I thought it was due to my wifi box and possibly the time of garbage that we had.

However, I still have my old laptop, and when you check the WiFi side by side, my old portable Samsug picked up the signal full or almost full so this new Toshiba picked up a bar at a push.

Since then, I took the laptop to my parents and he struggles to get the good WiFi, if no signal there too.

It's super frustrating because it get wifi, it get just a very weak signal or nothing at all, and as soon as I move my laptop... literally a few centimetres, it will change the wifi signal or my wifi signal is cut and it will be impossible to connect.

I did everything I can think of troubleshooting to actually factory reset my laptop that none has worked so far. The factory reset seems to have actually done worse, rather better!

As I said, my router is not the problem here, I have my old laptop that connects very well, as well as two other laptops and mobile devices that all have connected to wifi very well and with full signal!

I disabled all these wifi devices to see if this is the problem, but that did not help or the other. I also have a booster of wifi in the House, so all devices have full or almost full signal, but it seems of no use for this Toshiba.

I lose my home, is there anything else I can do? I'm still in the warranty of 30 days of Argos if the laptop is down, but I just can't think of anything to try. I just hope that if the laptop is down Argos will help and either pay the phone or Exchange.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. :)

I think first of all you must check if the wireless performance question isn't related to energy saving settings.

Go to the control panel? Windows power options.
    Choose the current power plan
Now, you must click Advanced power settings.

In Advanced Power settings you will find different options, search for LAN wireless (WiFi) and choose the Performance for both options (battery and power)
    After that, restart the device.

I hope that this short change might help you.

  • Satellite L300-2This - too slow Wifi

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba L300-2, I bought the week last with Vista and I installed XP after purchase.
All drivers installed and everything works, but when I connected to the internet with wifi, download speed is generally very limited (0, 2 - 1.2mbps - with a 8-9 Mbps with UTP cable). The download speed is normal. Sometimes the speed of download with wifi is too normal.
My wireless card is Atheros AR5007EG. I tried several drivers of toshiba and atheros Web page, but after a few minutes, the speed is reduced again.

    Help, please!

Speed WLAN depends on many different factors. In your ad you didn t inform us what that it either except the WLAN card is in your laptop.
The fact is that the NIC wireless on your laptop to 802.11 g so check the router settings and make sure that this standard is turned on it. You can set to 802.11 g only.

What is the distance between the router and your laptop?
Have you tested the WLAN functionality on friends router or elsewhere?

  • Satellite L50-B-1NM - weak WIFI signal

    Hello world

Had this laptop for my daughter yesterday and he struggles to see wireless networks.

I will only see the wireless network if it is right next to him, but even in this case the signal falls and then can't see anything. I tried two different wireless routers so cannot exclude that.

I activated the WiFi on my iPhone 6 and related to that, and even with the phone, right next to the notebook, he struggled to stay connected wireless.

So I've isolated the problem to be with the laptop itself and no question of infrastructure.

Last night the BIOS to version 1.70. That did not help.

I noticed there are drivers available on the Toshiba support section September wireless, so I downloaded these ready to install when I get home.

If someone else has had this problem and did pilots resolve where the faulty laptop?

    Thanks in advance

I put t think that the problem is related to your wireless card / driver.
However, if you want you can get the latest version of the Intel page driver because the laptop was equipped with the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 map.

It's module supports new card technology WLan (from 2013) supporting the 802.11ac + agn standards.
I put t know what Wlan standard is supported by your WLan router but I recommend you to check the card advanced settings WLan (Device Manager-> card Wlan-> properties-> tab Advnaced) where you could choose the 802.11ac particular + agn Wlan standard.

I also recommend different WLAN (1-11) channels as different channels supporting different frequency and this can affect performance.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - very slow WiFi connection

Toshibe Satellite Pro P300 with built in the Atheros AR9281 wireless.

    Running Windows 7.

    ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

    BIOS 2.5

All the latest versions of the drivers installed including the driver Atheros 8.0.0.225.0 wireless.

    Wireless is annoying...

Sometimes fails to find the router (Belkin 54g, connected to the Modem cable Motorola (Virgin B/B is the access provider, 10 Mbps)).

When he finds, connects ok, but sometimes it is impossible to browse web pages - just behave as if there is no connection.

Bit torrent works also very slowly (in general 0.5Mbit / s depending on the number of peers etc.). Not a port forwarding issue with the router - using utorrent that indicates that the relevant port is open.

When I connect to the router with an ethernet cable, everything works a treat - much faster and rock solid connection. uTorrent has no hit 10Mbit/s problem at all.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you very much...

    Alan.

    Hello

You should first check if your BIOS is up to date.
If an older version of BIOS is installed then you could update the BIOS.

It is also advisable to update the installed WLan driver.
Here, you can check the available WLan drivers:

  • My Satellite A100-232 has a WiFi card?

    Hello
I'd like to find if there is a slot for a wireless miniPC card in my laptop? Properties show there is no WiFi card on my computer (Fn + F8 does not work either :-)).) I would like to know if I should look for USB or PCMCIA card or have hope for miniPC card.

    Hey Buddy,

Yes, your laptop is a mini-PCI-slot on the bottom of your machine, close the memory locations.
Just open the cover where the mem slots are and there should be the minipci slots too where you can insert a Mini-PCI wifi card.

    Welcome them

  • (Redirected) All new Inspiron 3647 desktop PC has very slow download speeds.

We live in very slow download speeds.  All other computers and devices in the House can stream video without problem.  Speed tests test our laptop Vaio 2009 to 16 Mbps download and 6 Mbit/s upload.  The Dell is the same download speed, but the download speed is 512 Kps!  It's like the beginning of the 1990s with telephone lines.  We called Dell a week ago and they told us to reload the driver for the wifi card.  The suggestion does not and we could not reload the driver and it made it unnecessary to the wireless card.  They sent us a new desktop case and put us together today and got the same results with slow download speed.  Need help with any suggestions that anyone has to correct the problem of download speed.

We have a new Motorola modem and a new Linksys router.  And as I said, TVs, tablets and other computers work fine.  Maybe it's just a [Admin NOTE: expletives deleted according to the terms of USE] computer?  It's our first Dell and I must admit, we are more than disappointed so far.

  • Satellite L50-B-13F - WIFI hotspot does not have a connection internet key USB

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L50B 13 E and I use the USB (with sim card) for internet connection that works very well.
Now, I have a smartphone and I would like to turn my laptop into a wifi hotspot so I can use my smart phone in Wi-Fi to surf the internet, while I have the USB connected to the internet.

I have 10 windows and I followed all the directions for the creation of the hostednetwork with name, password but my smartphone can only connect to wifi without connecting to the internet. Whenever I try to open an internet it page downlods for a few seconds and stops.
I'm wandering if what I do is correct or even possible to do so. Is it possible to do? Should I use a larger antenna or need any additional driver?

    Help, please!

Hello, I have a model Satellite L50 B 13th and for surfing the internet, I use the USB with sim card and it works fine.
Now, I bought a smartphone and I like my pc to become a hostednetwork wifi so I can connect my smartphone, while the USB is connected.
I created the wifi hostednetwork with name, password and I can actually connect the smartphone on the wireless network, but I can't surf the internet. Any help?

  • Satellite L50 - A - 1 5 - question about max LAN speed

    Qualcomm-Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

In the specifications it is said that this network adapter might work on the speed of the LAN 1 Gbps 1000base-t.
But the max speed that is displayed on my system is 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX.
    Why?

    System: _
    Toshiba Satellite L50 - A - 1-5
    Windows OS 8.1
    Driver version 2.1.0.21
    Qualcomm-Atheros AR8171/8175 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.30)

You're right, the network adapter. Atheros QCA8171B supports networks: 1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T

To use the range, the router should also support the 1000BASE-T.
    Did you check that?

In addition, you can change the LAN settings in:
    Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab

Here, you should check if 1000BASE-T option is selected and chosen.

I also recommend you check the BIOS settings because as fat I know some LAN function can be enable/disable in the BIOS

May I ask how you installed Win XP?
Did you change the SATA mode on compatible in the BIOS settings?
If yes then this problem is related to the missing SATA drivers!

You can find the SATA drivers in the Intel Storage Manager which is placed on the page of European disk from Toshiba!

Launch the .exe with the settings file a p

For example (the files will be unpacked in the storagemanager folder):
