Satellite L500 - BIOS version 1.9 is compatible?

Heyas,

I noticed a new version of BIOS (v 1.90) for Satellite L500 laptop. My model - PSLS3A - 01301D does not appear in the list of the L500 models on the site MyToshiba, and I am very wary of the installation of the update incase she turn my laptop in a very expensive paperweight. Could someone give me an idea if this new update of the BIOS is safe for my model?

Thanks in advance,

Evan

Hey Evan,

What Toshiba Web site you are looking for? Computers notebooks are specific products of these countries and using Google, I founded your laptop on the Australian page:
http://www.MyToshiba.com.au

If your laptop model doesn t appear in the compatibility list, I think that this update is not compatible with your model.

Also, why do you want to update? This update should be made only if your computer laptop doesn t work properly. Otherwise it of not necessary to do a BIOS update!

  • Satellite L500-1ZP - key to enter the BIOS version 2.10 and the upgrade of RAM

    Hello

    I have two questions:

    1. I recently updated my bios version of laptops to 2.10 and replaced the hard drive with an SSD.
However, it seems that I can't enter the BIOS more.

I tried several buttons, but it just won't let me get bios of the laptop more.
Which button to use to access the BIOS?

    2. I want to upgrade the standard amount of memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.
Are there recommended RAM sets should I use because of compatibility issues?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kind regards.

To access the BIOS press F2 at the beginning of the order started immediately after you have switched on the device, press F2 (press several times on the line)

    > 2. I want to upgrade the standard amount of memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.
    > Are there any sets recommended RAM should I use because of compatibility issues?

Toshiba Satellite L500-1ZP laptop takes the type of RAM SODIMM SDRAM PC3-8500 DDR3-1066 MHz 204pin. I would recommend the manufacturer Kingston modules.

  • Satellite L500 (PSLS9A-01U012) - better update BIOS 1.6?

It's just a small thing, but my last PC Toshiba laptop has the option to boot from USB. I could boot a Linux and Windows from a USB key, and it was great. So here's my question. Is it possible to boot from USB without a BIOS update?

Well, I know that the answer is probably no, so I'll ask the question. Thinking that there is an update for my BIOS, I visited the mytoshiba.com.au website and discovered that the only available update is that I currently have. Then I went on the site of decision-makers (Pheonix) BIOS, who headed biosagentplus.com, which scanned my computer to check updates. He claims that it is a new BIOS update available, but I must register and PAY for an annual subscription to just the chance to see what is the version number of this release. So my question is, where is this "update" and it supports boot from USB?

    Thank you.

    Hi Hambo,

The fact is that not all laptop computers support booting from the USB device and if it s possible is described in your user manual.
As far as I know it is only possible to boot from the USB on Satellite L500 floppy drive, but not USB key

Also the BIOS update does that fix bugs and add new features for I n t see a reason to make the point.
But if you make an update of the BIOS at any time, you must download site Web from Toshiba to form. This is the only site where you can get a compatible BIOS.

    Hello

I am looking for an update of firmware Bios Satellite L500-1 CPU Intel T7300 SLA45 support.

The system turns on, but there is a prompt F1, after that the system starts normally.
    Thanks in advance

These updates are not available on the public download page so that you can try is to contact Toshiba nearest service and ask for help.
I m quite pessimistic in this regard because Toshiba doesn't support the exchange of CPU or upgrade. I guess you know who. Do you have?

  • Re: Satellite L500-1WH stuck when updating BIOS

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-1HW, and today TEMPRO shown to me three alerts, one of them on a BIOS update. When I tried to run the application to update the BIOS (Phoenix UEFI WinFlash) he completed the first four steps, "Load the new BIOS", "Analyze old and new BIOS compatibility ', 'Reading old BIOS' and 'Save old BIOS to the backup file', but when he reached the stage of the las,"New Flash BIOS", he got stuck displaying the message 'Region of programming Bios... '. ». Now the laptop is turned on and in fact I can use it as the application of the BIOS update does not block the system, but I don't know what to do, I dare not just to finalize the program because I don't know if the BIOS is right.

Please help me with this problem.

    Thank you.

    Hey,.

Do you have any other programs like Internet browser, Skype or something else? All programs must be closed before you start the update of the BIOS, even AntiVirus, firewall, etc. In addition, the update should be done as an administrator

In General, the BIOS update is not necessary. If only TEMPRO presents a new version, there is no reason to update. Never touch a running system ;)

  • Satellite L500 - cannot flash BIOS

    Hi all

Looking for help here - I have a series of Satellite L500 and the battery has recently stopped charging - from 3 hours to 0% - not charging not from one day to the next. Have you tried altering the eco of the settings button, by pressing power for 40 seconds and even a new power supply unit (we have these to my work), but nothing seems to work. The only thing I can do without buying a new battery is flashing the BIOS.

Problem: I get an error saying that the BIOS cannot be flashed because it has less than 10% of its power. An idea for a workaround?

I'm more inclined to buy a new laptop than to spend any money fix this one (CD drive and a USB port also stopped working) but try to maintain the old faithful.

    Any tips or advice?

    Thank you
    Bajar

To Flash the BIOS by using the version focused on winning, the battery must be charged.
If it s unloaded, the process of updating the BIOS would not start up.

But why you want to update the BIOS?
BIOS update does not resolve the problems with the drive CD/DVD or USB ports.

  • Satellite L500 (PSLS9A-01U012) - bad BIOS HWsetup

first the card, I have the toshiba satellite l500 core i3 @2. 13 ghz 4 GB ram 500 GB hard drive
I bought this laptop in December and has recently had a problem that required me to reinstall windows 7. I went to a set of recovery discs, only to be told that he could not find the recovery partition. the recovery partition is still there that I can see via easeus data recovery pro. thing is try to make a backup of recovery it says cannot find the recovery partition and now the hwsetup shows the bios version as a bunch of symbols instead of the number. is there a way to fix this without ordering a set of discs from toshiba?

screenshot of hwsetup window is http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/135/biosversionscreenshot.png/

    Hey,.

I put t think that the problem is related to your installation of Windows 7

In your case, I'll try to reinstall HWsetup and added value package. These two tools can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba:

  • Update BIOS bricked Satellite L500 - 19 X

    Hello

I was reorganize laptop for my nephew (Satellite L500-19 X PSLS0E-00F01DEN part number), store files etc, exceptional application updates etc and foolishly accepted utility offers the Toshiba to upgrade the BIOS that froze completely part thru (in step 11 of 37 IIRC).

I now nothing more than a black screen.

I have a few it skills, I have looked around and would go down to the WINCRIS. Road EXE create a bootable USB key to recover in this way.

However, the last BIOS for this laptop seems to be a .exe file, not a zip file where I could extract the boot rom.

Guess who I still have the ability to take the reader from the laptop to try to recover the bios backup file update utility says it recorded on another machine you use to try to decrease that way, but I'd be grateful any advice - or even a bootable image - anyone could offer.

Guess I'm hoping for too many feel Toshiba could provide such an image...

    Thank you

    > However, the last BIOS for this laptop seems to be a .exe file, not a zip file where I could extract the boot rom.

The exe file isn t real exe file but it s a package.
You can extract this exe by right-clicking and choosing extract here

I use WinRAR to extract the package. Also, WinZip or 7Zip should work.

But to be honest I m not very good if you want to be able to solve this problem.
To my knowledge a crisis of the BIOS disk would need to reflash the EPROM module and generally, this can be done by maintainer authorized Toshiba

    However, please keep us updated.

  • Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) - noisy fan stops is never (BIOS version 1.60)

Hello from the Czech Republic, I have also problem with noisy fan on my new Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) (i430M, GT330M) on 64-bit Windows 7 over Office Standard - see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=165&tstart=0.

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. When the laptop powered to the top of the adapter in all modes the fan is running at 60-70% (sometimes at 90% - my office is perhaps quieter :-(). What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

Old BIOS versions, you can get an authorized service provider

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on Satellite L500 due to low battery

    Hey all,.

Obtained as Satellite L500 (PSLS0A-084002) here. I have the battery not charging issue and everything what I find point to an update of the BIOS.

Of course, there is a new BIOS for download from the drivers of laptops. So I have the file WinPhlash "sl500 (mv) _bios_w210.exe. However, by running the fact falling before flashing the BIOS with an error number: 144.

It is because of the battery is bellow 10% charge however I can't it above 10 percent fee that the laptop does not recognize it.

There must be a way of to WinPhlash running without check. I read that you can run it with the "/ forceit" switch and who will be ignoring the error, but that was for some time and it seems WinPhlash have changed this as she always spits the error.

I read running back help but after creating a boot cd back, he claims the exe cannot be run from BACK (ffffuuuuuuuu!).

Any help appreciated. Thank you =).

Maybe it sounds silly now but there at - it something serious, why you want to update the BIOS on your machine? I mean if everything is OK, why do you need new BIOS?

In any case, I'm don't know if this will help but please try to remove the battery and check if the update of the BIOS starts if your laptop works on AC only.
