Satellite L850 - Intermittent crashing with BSOD

My Satellite L850-1LK crashes with the following error message intermittently: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (athw8x.sys). An online search in some other forums suggested that I should update the driver for my Atheros wireless network adapter. I did - including uninstall it completely before reinstalling with the driver downloaded from Toshiba's own site.

I always get the BSOD, so any other suggestions would be appreciated. (I'm under 64-bit Windows 8)

Hello

What version of driver and what version of BIOS that you use?

I had the same problem but not with the Toshiba laptop.
I discovered that the installed McAfee utility causes the BSOD.
I suggest that you remove and replace with another software antivirus like Avast! or Avira antivir.
Both are free and can be downloaded for free.

But of course I updated the Atheros Wlan driver too!
You must remove the driver and uninstall the driver properly package.
This can be done in Device Manager!
Then clean the operating system using CCleaner!
Reactivate the wireless lan, then install the latest driver.
Previous updates must have replaced only part of the package of driver causing the problem.

    Hello

I got a L770 in November and he suffered from random crashes where I get a blue screen.
I managed to read it creates a data crash dump who fails,
It does not say a lot of things but just not long enough for me to read more.

After the crash dump data he fails, then it tries to restart but is unable to as he can not find a source to start.
If you turn it off and turn it back on again, he launched his fine again and works perfectly until the next crash. has anyone have any idea what it could be like it's really starting to annoy me now?

    Thank you

    Hello

The error number is not really useful.
I recommend the event viewer in Windows 7
Here you can see the event ID and source of the BSOD

You can search for this event on this page ID
    http://EventID.NET/

Then you should get more details on the BSOD

  • Satellite A60 crashes with BSOD using the WLan connection

    Hello

The son laptop works well 24/7 If you use the local cable network on web access, but as soon as we install Wifi it crashes on a regular basis (2 or 3 times an hour) with BSOD error messages - normally those helps Microsoft cant (via the event viewer report) with but it is often talking about Toshiba phone services but no solution.

Tried two (netgear) pcmcia & usb (agere) wifi cards - exactly same problem can not maps.

In desperation re-formatted & resettled Xp & all drivers Toshiba of original Cd of Tosh, then Xp Sp2 & then all the updates/fixes engineering including the bios from site Web of Tosh. Still crashes.

If the software has - v installed or not makes no difference.

A 512 extra ram on top of 256 original.

    Any ideas?

Please believe me that it is not easy to say why the BSOD appears!
From my personal experience, that the BSOD can occurs because of the problem of critical software, or because of the problem of equipment.

In your case, it looks like a hardware problem (this is my personal opinion)
Generally, the laptop should work with the external WLan USB card. I put t see no reason why it shouldn't work t.

You said that you have updated the RAM on this laptop, I noticed on many laptops than similar issues after a RAM upgrade.

For example; I inserted the new 1 GB RAM on my old Satellite and received a BSOD. I used a compatible but the BSOD appeared sometimes.
After the passage of the modules to another location memory my laptop works properly!

Please check this box. Maybe you could check if the same thing happens with your old module!

    Greetings.

I got this computer at my school, it was packed and not open as far as I know (to my knowledge, he has not opened at least em). About 5 - 6 times every day (duration of 6 hours at least) my computer crashes, with a very large slope of gurgling that sounds like a bloody drill.

  • Windows 8 will randomly crash with BSOD

My laptop Acer keeps restarting with BSOD. Ive tried refreshing and rearming windows 8 without result.

According to the instructions in the thread BSOD I download a zip with the MSINFO file and the the accident dmp file.  The zip file can be found here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7xzCvOBhOAYaVdZcUZXX0VHMUU/view?usp=sharing

The BSOD throws a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR sometimes and sometimes other errors.

Please indicate how I can solve the problem.

    Thank you.

First of all, you need to update to win 8.1 which, in itself, can solve the problem.

Secondly, you have several applications of malware (McAfee and Symantec) and is never a good idea.  I remove the two and use the built in Defender in its place.

These accidents were related to the corruption of memory (probably caused by a driver).

Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Launch auditor.  You don't need to run memtest again unless the auditor is not the cause, or you want to.

If you are overclocking anything reset by default before running these tests.
In other words STOP! If you don't know what it means that you're probably not

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV crashed with BSOD and won't start

My laptop Satellite C660 - 2 EV running Windows 7, without apparent reason crashed to blue screen of death, after which it would not restart.

I tried to reboot in safe mode with the function keys, but it is the extent of loading: windows\system32\drivers/classpnp.sys and then just sitting there. Different Internet stations, it would appear that there is no definitive answer to this problem. It is recommended to recharge using recovery disks or hidden image.

I can't access the user manual as it is on the laptop so I've referenced various positions on the internet. I had created for repair and recovery disks when I bought the laptop and so on to different positions, I started my system with the repair disk and the process began.

Unfortunately, the screens that appeared were different from those in positions and as I don't have access to a manual, I don't know if I'm following the correct procedure.

Can someone provide me with a PDF for a C660 laptop user manual - 2 EV?

If someone can advise me how to reload Windows 7?

    Thank you in advance.

S user guides document can be downloaded from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_manuals.jsp
Anyway, if you created the recovery disc please start your laptop and press f12 to get into the boot menu. When menu of startup appears on-screen set recovery disc 1 into the optical disk drive and choose the CD/DVD device as a boot device and press ENTER.

Installation should start. What you need to do is just follow the menu on the screen. It should be similar as sown on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Satellite Pro A300 crashes with white screen

I have a Satellite Pro A300, AMD processor, Vista, ATI graphics card.

The system worked fine for a year, but there are a few months, he started crashing, the screen went white, not blue, whatever it be running, like music, stopped. This can occur after several hours or minutes, or even if he is re-start. All my software is up-to-date, Microsoft and Toshiba. I rebuilt my system from scratch and the symptoms came back.

At first I thought that this could be a heat problem, but I followed this but I don't think that's it. It crashed seconds after leaving standby mode when it has not had a chance to warm up.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Simon

    Hey Buddy,

Theoretically, it might be an overheating problem so the screen became due white built in overheating protection...

You should try to clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust of fans cooling and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

    Hello

All the drivers for your model mobile, you can find on http://www.toshibamea.com/en/Download-Files

Your model of PSKG8V is in the list. Maybe this silly now, but I do not know what is the conductor of electricity. If your laptop comes with original preinstalled OS I recommend you set the BIOS to default settings and install original recovery image.
After doing this, you can test the functionality with the factory settings.

    Post comments please.

  • Satellite L20 error: DVD - RAM crashes with a blue screen with the use of cd-audio

    Hello world

I have a very annoying problem: when I use audio-cd, my Satellite tends to crash with a blue screen. When it crashes, blue screen, scrolls and immediately a black screen and a restart follows.

It is probably a driver problem, because I have three audioprograms installed (Windows Media player, Sonic Stage MiniDisc and I-tunes).

Can someone give me advice? Thanks in advance

    Klaas

    Hi Klaas,

It would be useful to know what the error message is when you get the blue screen. I suggest that you disable the restart automatic installation so that your laptop stops on the blue screen and you can read the error.

To disable the auto restart: -.

    1. right click on 'My computer' icon and then click on "Properties".
    2. click on the "Advanced" tab
    3. click on 'Settings' in the section starting and recovering (towards the bottom of the window).
    4 uncheck 'automatically restart '.

Please post again all the details of the blue screen error message.

  • Satellite L850-1V5 AMD RADEON HD M 7670 - no display on external monitor

    Hello.

I'm having a strange problem with my Satellite L850-1V5 new with card in order to 7670M AMD RADEON HD.
(It runs windows 8 64-bit family)

At the beginning I couldn't open the CCC.
So I uninstalled the program and reinstalled the drivers I found here, on the Web at Toshiba Europe site.
    Now it works well.
But now I have another problem.

First, I tried to extend/duplicate(whatever, it does not really matter) my workstation via the VGA port.
In CTC, I could see that he acknowledged my external monitor model and even the mouse cursor has acted as the Office has been extended.

    BUT
    1. it has no image on the external monitor
    2. on the input of the external display Menu(:where one chooses the port to be used, i.e. VGA, HDMI, SCART, DVI etc etc) VGA port c o u l d NOT be selected, as if there were no cable on the external monitor

Then I tried an HDMI cable with the same result, with the difference that on the external screen menu entry the HDMI port c o u l d be selected, as if it were a cable on the external monitor, but the monitor says "no signal".

I tried the same steps via Windows Control Panel (menu Display).

    Same results...

I tried on 2 different external monitors (the two LG ones, even if we're about 3 years older than the other, so I guess he should have nothing to do with the monitor).

    Any ideas?
Is this a hardware problem, a software problem? Toshiba Service go?

    Hello

To my knowledge, use the keyboard shortcut to switch to an external monitor.
AFAIK the F4 (or Fn + F4) changes the output display.

Have you tried using this button?
