Satellite M100-165: network cable unplugged message

My NEW laptop TOSHIBA M100-165/model PSMA1E / with network card 10/100 VM Network Adapter Intel have big problem when connected to my office network!
So many collisions I see on my HUB 3COM/model TP800 /. But this hub works perfectly with other computers in my office / other 5 computers works perfectly on this HUB!
When I tried to connect my laptop directly to the floor /model of the CISCO Catalyst 3500 switch series XL / pops up the message "network cable unplugged".

Only for the test I tried another TOSHIBA laptop computer in our network, but with the Intel 10/100 VE Network Adapter network card. And this laptop works perfectly.
I hope you can solve my problem as soon as you can!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards!

  • Satellite M100-165 cannot stop - lights up immediately

    Hi all!

Here's my problem: whenever I have shutdown or Hibernate my Satellite M100-165, it will light within 5 seconds. Standby does not either - instead of normal going in standby mode (power LED turn orange) it shuts down completely and has the force of will to 5 seconds upwards again and freeze. The computer only lights when plugged into power alternative, with or without a network cable. Wake-on-LAN is disabled. No other event trail is accessible from the menu of the BIOS Setup.

I tried the system restore to a date before the problem was uccured, I've updated the BIOS, uninstalled and reinstalled Toshiba Power Saver utility, set closing the lid to take no action, scanned with HijackThis and found no suspicious processes.

The problem started shortly after I installed Motorola Phone Tools (i.e., a driver of USB modem for my mobile phone). I don't know if that could be related but uninstalled/reinstalled the software nothing works.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hello

    This very strange noise
Have you tried to recover the operating system with the Toshiba Recovery CD?
If this isn't the case, I recommend trying this.

  • Startup gets "Network cable unplugged" on mini-PCI Wireless card

I recently installed a Netgear DG834GT wireless router and now have intermittent problems connecting my Tecra 9100. If the 9100 has been off for awhile (like overnight), when I restart I get always "Network cable unplugged" for the wireless connection. Reboot several times (anything from 3 upwards) I finally get connected to the router and everything then works fine for hours. Even a quick restart at this point (that is, once that the wireless adapter is connected) does not cause a problem, but as soon as I leave the stop of the machine during a time he fails again on restart.

There are no errors in the event log.

I am using wireless mini-PCI cards and have already updated to the latest version of the driver.

Any ideas gratefully received, for now every morning is a 20 to 30 minutes of rebooting frustration trying to get my connection work.

    Hello

As far as I know, the unplugged network cable message just for LAN (Local Area connection-LAN) and not wireless.

If you want to check this map to disable LAN in Device Manager. After starting the laptop turn on the wireless card, check the status using the FN + F8 key combination. Wi - Fi is activated after a short time, you should be able to use your wireless network.

You can enable the option Show icon in notification area when connected. You can find it in the properties of wireless under the general tab.

  • Satellite M100-165: connection to the LAN operarte correctly

I have a Satellite M100-165 for about 2 years with the original Setup (win XP etc) and I make all updates.
The problem is that the connection to the local network is working properly from the beginning.

I can connect only if I set the NIC property "link speed & Duplex = 10 Mbps Full Duplex", but on some LANs operate at all.
    I appreciate any response.

    Thank you

I'm a bit confused now. What you mean with connection to the LAN working correctly from the beginning? What is started for you?
I can't believe that you declare on that now, two years later. Have you already tried to install recovery image and test it with the factory settings?

  • Laserjetpro m252dw: printer says network cable unplugged when plugged into a wall outlet

My printer worked fine and all of a sudden, he is no longer prints and the display shows: "network cable unplugged".

I turned off the printer, it is plugged. Does the same thing for the modem and the router. The problem is not resolved. Help, please

    Hi @Kajosil,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are unable to print because of this "unplugged network cable" error message on your HP LaserJet Pro M252dw Color printer. I will definitely do my best to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and mark "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

It seems that the printer does not have enough power to work properly, or there is a problem with the cable/port.

    • Please click here to update the firmware of the printer.

Make sure that the ethernet cable is connected to the appropriate port on the back of the printer.
See the section: 'Return product view' in the user manual for more information.

    • Have you tried another port on the router?
    • Have you tried another ethernet cable?
    • Check if the cable is damaged or deformed.

If the problem persists, I would like to do a hard reset and electric drain to see if this will solve the problem.

    • To eliminate other causes, unplug the USB cable or telephone (fax) for the test so attached.
    1. Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
    2. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electric load and then release the power button.
    3. Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    4. Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet (do not use a bar or a surge protector).
    5. Try another outlet to power/room.
    6. Try a different compatible power cable.

If the problem persists, I would try resetting the NVRAM. This will outline the printer back to the default settings. The network must be configured again. I can send you this information in a private message. In the forum next to your handle name simply click on the envelope to see.

I hope this information is useful. Please reply to this message with the results. Good luck!

    Hi guys

If you have read the topic about this issue with the Satellite A100, you will see that many user were frustrated but right at the last update of the available BIOS. It cannot happen overnight and in my opinion, you must be patient and hope that the good BIOS update will be available shortly.

    Hello

I have the same problem if I stand for laptop and access point at the same time. If the access point is already in use, the connection is established shortly after. First the access point must establish a connection to the modem. Now the wireless connection is not available.

I guess after the second reboot, the connection between the AP and the modem is already finished and you can use the network wireless successfully.

    Good bye

  • Question about HDD temperature on Satellite M100-165

My Hitachi 80 GB HDD on Satellite M100-165 is getting very hot. 50 - 55 c in general using Windows. And warmer that I see is 59.

Is that normal values for M100?

    Hello

How did you check this temperature? Did you use the 3rd party applications?
To my knowledge, these applications don't provide a temperature exactly.

Anyway, in my view the 55-60 ° C is not very hot for a HARD drive. You know that the temperature is dynamically the value and depends on how fast and time the HARD disk rotates.
The HARD disk also turns when you use Notepad with General Windows applications and access the OS from the HARD drive.

The temperature may also increase because the other parties such as the processor and graphics card produces heat. This temperature can increase the temperature of the HARD disk level.

PS: The specifications are supported protection against overheating. If the temperature is too high the laptop will automatically stops.

  • Satellite M100-165 - new 320 HDD recognised as 132GB

    Hello

I try to install a western digital (wd3200 bevt) HARD drive on a Satellite M100-165, with Windows XP SP 3
But the HARD drive recognized only as 132 GB internal USB connected.
I have a Lacie external USB HDD 320 GB, that work properly. Any idea?
    Thanx.

    Hello

I think that your laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits, then it will be only 132GB recognized. You can learn more about this here: http://www.48bitlba.com/

What can you do now? Nothing. You can buy a 120 GB HARD drive.

You should also check if your external enclosure supports 320GB. Not every external HARD disk supports each size of HARD drive.

    Welcome them

  • Realtek HD on Satellite M100-165 does not work

I have a Satellite M100-165 and from the moment where I bought it I have never effects Manager realtek hd sound.
Lately my windows xp that they updated and the effects Manager appear in the control panel.

But after an another update of the effect window manager disappear

    Hello

Hmmm... only the TOSHIBA Virtual Sound is known to me, and certainly, this tool is installed on the image of Toshiba. The image of the BONE was delivered on the Toshiba Recovery CD.

As you say, the laptop supports a smart Audio HD Realtek ALC 861 but only the Realtek driver was installed and not the extra utility.
Maybe the Realtek provides this tool that could be installed and more? Who knows... but I'm sure... the Realtek HD sound effect Manager is not a part of the image!

By the way; Several weeks ago, I noticed an update of Microsoft, who has had a bad influence on the chip realtek audio.
2 days after Microsoft released a patch for this update. Perhaps it has something to do with your problem...

  • Satellite M100-165 cannot stop - turns on automatically after a few seconds

    Hello!

I have the problem of identical or very similar to those described in the threads:
    Link: [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=15325]
    Link: [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=109125]

When I try to turn off my Satellite M100-165 ("shut down" in Windows or even by pressing the power button while I'm in BIOS) it lights up after a few seconds. It lights when it runs on batteries. She also doesn't appear when I press the button for 4 seconds.

I tried to recover the system with the recovery CD (Windows XP Home). I also tried with Windows Vista. Always the same.

In fact I have BIOS version 2.90 (updated from version 1.90, as far as I remember) but with an earlier version, the problem exists also.
I think when I got the version of the BIOS before 1.90 this problem did not exist (but I don't remember this version number).

    Thank you for any suggestions.

    Hello

It's a very unusual question and, for me, there is not just some explanation. It will be interesting to know what Toshiba experts say on this subject. Make a call and let us know what they say.

The strange is that the same thing will happen with two different operating systems. I can't say for sure why this happens, but your laptop is a bit confusing and of course change the shutdown with restart. If it is result of BIOS update service people should know about it.

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650-system of operating Windows XP.  I am unable to connect to the internet.  Status: Network cable unplugged.  Where did this cable located on the laptop?

The network port is the port on the laptop (it is not that large - look around) that looks like a large phone connection.

You have a router/network to connect to and a cable network to connect with?

  • Network cable unplugged, the Panel grey adapter after removal of Fusion to a new mac

    I can't "solve this problem.

A couple of months, I moved to a new iMac (end 2013) and the network in Fusion stopped working.

Windows (XP) says: "network cable unplugged".

Merge network adapter control says it has allowed (part that my mac is turned on), but the Panel is disabled, grayed out.

I tried to change to full NAT, but mothing changed.

Since then I upgraded Fusion 6 an update of version minor and improved Fusion 7, but the problem is still there.

In the knowledge base, I found something similar, called other products VMWare, who suggested that the problem might be in the configuration of the network of Mac, but I am not sure where; and, in any case, S.O. and configuration and even got on the older iMac, where everything worked fine.

I'm quite often connected to a VNC using Tunnelblick, but I tried to turn it off and the problem is still there. (And even once, on the old Mac it worked great even through VNC).

    Any suggestion?

After asking the VMWare Support they suggested merge to uninstall and reinstall from scratch. It worked.

    Uninstall completely merger: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1017838

    operating system not found

I downloaded a program called Hiren Boot Cd and I he burned on a Cd and then I ran it if the 221 m100, then I loaded Windows XP Mini. I went into my computer and I don't because my partition B called drive Ram Toshiba himself. Where is my C partition? What happened to my PC? I think that the hard disk is dead. Is it?

    Hi lekhB,

    > I think the hard drive is dead. Is it?
Is that the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS?

If this isn't the case, it seems that the HARD drive is faulty, but in General, the PXE message means that an incorrect boot order is set.
