Satellite M105-S1021 - delay of keyboard problem

My keyboard does not work right. Just typing this is atrocious. When I press a button, I have to hold it down for a good three seconds until the letter is displayed. I tried to reboot several times, I've defragmented, I checked my keyboard settings in the Control Panel, I uninstalled the only program that I installed in the last month or more - this following Asian thing so I can display Japanese characters on my computer - no luck.

I really don't want to have to buy a new keyboard or laptop. My laptop is only a little less than two years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I have my laptop for writing.

Can you get somewhere external keyboard and test how it works? It will be interesting to see if the problem persists.

The fact is that you use the keyboard very intensely and perhaps that the contacts are not so good more.

My TECRA stopped with the BSoD (on another thread) and I had to leave my old Satellite M105 - S1021 and try and get it going again.

First problem was running PRO XP without service pack and it was a * LEGAL * XP home upgrade - tries to install the SP, I received the product key was not valid message - cannot find the CD of XP Pro I used I called MS Support (sounded like in India) and vain - I expected to be provided with a valid key BUT NO! Why MS play the stupid guys like that on a software product is stupid IMHO and brief overview just puts a bad taste in the mouth and make me want to go to UBUNTU LINUX.

So I had to search in a room full of hardware and PC (sad hoarder I have still a few BACK/WIN 95/98 machines) until I found a CD of XP PRO with a product key if I had XP PRO installed on this Satellite laptop and installed the latest SP

BUT then I discovered that this laptop as well as it having previously PRO XP without a service Pack installed, there only 448 MB of RAM installed.

Looking at the memory Crucial site they recommend an upgrade to 2 GB BUT it's 1 GB x 2. Opening the door of memory I see that I don't have that one not slot the two connectors.
An upgrade to 2GB created using two modules of 1 GB Mem is therefore not possible.

    So my Question is:
Can I upgrade to 2 GB using a slot OR slots on this L/T only able to take modules 1 GB Mem - I guess as I can / could get a module DDR2 PC2 - 5300 Mem.

OR only can I put in a single module of 1 GB Mem.

Can you please first tell us we are discussing here on laptop Tecra or your old Satellite M105 - S1021?

For the Satellite M105-S1021 I found follow the news:

    Memory5

-256MB (min) / 2048MB (max), 512 MB of memory accessible service more accessible by the user memory available slot for 256 MB, 512 MB or 1024 MB DDR2 PC4200 533 MHz SDRAM.

Looks like the laptop was equipped with a map of Atheros 802.11 wireless network b/g.
If your internal wireless network card does not, even if you have enabled the external WLan switch, then I recommend check device manager first check that the area of Wlan Card network adapters usually map Atheros Wlan must be there if its not listed, install the Atheros Wlan driver

In addition, next to the switch hardware Wlan, you need to activate the WLan using Fn + F8

Regarding the USB dongle and a weak signal of Wlan:
Well, maybe the USB dongle aerial signal is too low on the other hand you should test connectivity using 802.11 B or 802.11 G standard only

  • Replacing hard drive on Satellite M105-S1021

    Hello

I'm looking to replace the hard drive of my laptop M105-S1021. Unfortunately, the disk hard original died on me packed and is about 6 months ago. I was quoted a couple grand to recover "perhaps" the content (no, I didn't have a backup and Yes, - lesson learned to always back up). I decided not to part with my money.

This phone is a beast of a machine these days, relatively speaking (past 8 years). However, I don't want especially chuck and I really need for word processing and light Internet use. I do ' t present the boot floppies initial, but thought I would load Ubuntu or Mint as a BONE from a flashdrive (wahey for FREE software!).

Been sniffing everything on eBay and discovered a true plethora of hard drives 2.5 "SATA. My question is this: do I need to stick with the original HD specifications? I post a picture of the HD but I do not see this feature available for this composer. It is a Hitachi 5v 1. 0a, 80 GB SATA, 5400 RPM HD.

Of course, I can use another brand than Hitachi, but it needs to have the same input voltage (output? I don't know yet what this number means, but figure it has something to do with the power that there is a "DC" next to him)? Can I use a 7200 RPM to it rather than a 5400 disc? If I want to increase the capacity, can I use, say, a drive of 320 or 500 GB?

And a question about SATA I vs II and III: I read that SATA II and III are retro-compatible and will slow down themselves if used in a SATA I machine. Is this true? In looking at all the different 2.5 "HDs on eBay and other sites, the connectors seem slightly different - the same, but some have little plastic shields and the extra bits coming out. Asked if SATA ALL connections will be adapted to all SATA computers or if they may have to be slightly modified (not the pins, but surrounding housings or housings).

Anyway, thanks for any help and advice given.

    > My question is this: do I need to stick with the original HD specifications?
Not really the important specification are: SATA and size 2.5
The laptop supports a SATA controller and you use a SATA 2.5 HARD.
GB size isn t really a key you could use a 100 GB, 250 GB and a 300 GB should not be a big problem.

    > And a question about SATA I vs II and III: I read that SATA II and III are retro-compatible and will slow down themselves if used in a SATA I machine. Is this true?

    Yes

  • Satellite M105 - replacement hard drive capacity problem

Hello, I recently installed a new hard drive of 320 GB (Seagate Momentus ST9320421AS) in my Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041 laptop to replace the original 80 GB drive.

I use Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the latest firmware (v2.90).

However, the new drive is restricted in some way to only about 130 GB.

The size is not reported in the BIOS, just the model number of the drive. Utility disk management Windows reports the size as: go 127,81 and using a Live CD of Ubuntu Linux and Seagate Seatools reports also this drive must be about 130GB.

So, I think that it is a BIOS or hardware problem. Can do something to allow me to use the full capacity of this disc?

    Help, please. Thank you.

As far as I know that some specialists PC uses special tools to manipulate of the BIOS and the ability of the entire HARD disk can be used. But I really don t know what you can do.
In my opinion, you need to use maximum supported HARD drive, but if you need more capacity for private data, you must use an external 2.5 HDD.

Friend of mine has bought yesterday 400 GB 2.5 for 99 Euros only. It's a really good investment.

  • Satellite L555 - 11L - Sound and keyboard problem

    (1) 2 months after the purchase, laptop began screaming sound. He brought back to Fnac, they restored the system. The screeching starts now if the level of speakers is higher than 50% or if I plug headphones with microphone. Making it difficult to use Skype. What could be the cause?

((2) recently, keyboard became slow - Return key and SPACEBAR react unless you press several times and 'double letters' (repeat) will not work unless I stop everything first before typing the new letter--regardless of the letter). I tried to change the properties of keyboard long/short, delay/frequency, no difference. Browsing the forum, I noticed that + users with similar problems also have a computer laptop french keyboard +. Would he be there? What should I try how can I set the properties of the keyboard, anyway?

  • Satellite Pro P300-19 q - keyboard problem

    Hello

I bought a * Satellite Pro P300-19 q * laptop and got the shipment yesterday. I am happy with the features and performance of the laptop. It has a keypad as well. The problem is the key board sinks and rises all the keys the keys (lower-right). I feel like its not secure properly. The key to this place Board feels fragile and irritating during use. Even some of my laptops at low prices to friends do not experience this problem. I can't live with it like that because it's a new laptop.
Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thank you
    Ravi

    Hello

Satellite Pro P300 I almost three months now and I can confirm that keyboard on this area is not stable on the other side, but it moves when I press with very great strength. Typing normal I do not use so much force and I have very sensitive keys. Just give a contact, and the symbols are on the screen. I use laptops for a year now and type on the computer keyboard is different as standard desktop with large and robust keys keyboard.

To be honest, I don't see any problem here. Maybe you use to force much press. If you check the mechanism under the keyboard protects it's so small and sensitive, and you can press the keys very gently.

So for me there is no problem at all. If you think that the keyboard should be more service contact stabile and explain the situation.

  • Satellite L450 - 18 d - language keyboard problem

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L450 - 18 d, which was purchased in England in May and then sent to me to Portugal, so I chose Portuguese as default language for my keyboard. However, for the last two weeks, I had this problem: since I installed Microsoft Office 2007 and the Office SP2 update, I had this curious situation with accents - instead of see only 1 focus whenever I click on a button, I see 2 accents (with one click).

    Something like this:
"(1 click); ~ ~ (1 click); ´´´ (2 clicks) and so on. This is * huge *, _because we use a lot of accents in portuguese_ - for example, I should be able to write + português + (written in Notepad) and not + Português ^ ^ are +!

Now, this does not occur when I use Notepad, but happens to all other programs (Office, Works, OpenOffice,...) and also in my browser (Mozilla Firefox). Is it possible that I can manually remove or manipulate focus associated with a specific key? I tried to change the default language of Brazilian Portuguese and uninstall Office 2007, but the problem remains... It would be associated with an update about Office?

    Thanks for your time!
    Petra

    Hey,.

To be honest this really strange behavior...

Interesting, it would be if you remove Microsoft Office if the problem still exists or not. If so, it seems to be related to Microsoft Office and therefore, you must contact Microsoft for the detailed response.

Otherwise, you can check only the keyboard input language. Make sure that only one language is defined.

  • Satellite A30: For those inventive keyboard problem

    Hello

My problem is that I spilled juice on my Satellite A30. Since MN then. keys on the keyboard do not respond. I think it has to do with the fact that the juice having disappeared left a sort of insulation under the buttons. I wonder if anyone can advise me on the following:

    1. How can I remove the keyboard off Satellite A30? The manual does not give an indication on it.

    2. is it possible to remove faulty buttons, clean the surface below them and put back them without any problem? I heard that once removed laptop keyboard buttons cannot be placed back correctly.

3 should. what solution I use to clean the remains of juice? My only idea is to use some sort of soapy solution.

4 wouldn't be allright just to put the keyboard without removing faulty buttons in a solution and keep it for a while until all the juice remains are taken away? The keyboard let completely dry and replace in place? Or, maybe there is a way to disassemble the keyboard in order to break the circuit so that it can be cleaned without worries?

I hope you people help me get through this question cause I don't want to spend a fortune on a new keyboard, as people in the service center possibly won't bother to clean up my keybard and will just get away with ordering a new.

OK, thanks for your ideas and consideration.

    Hello

If the buttons just does not have the "n" and am ' ones, then you may be able to clean adequately without the need to disassemble your A30.

First, you need to remove the covered buttons involved. To do this gently prising upward from the bottom edge of each button (use the SPACEBAR as a rest for a small flat blade so that you can lift buttons up. Once the keys are deleted (not to lose) you will be able to see the cantilever spring mechanism that makes electrical contact when you press it. Carefully clean the area with a small cotton swab (or even a small brush) and a lot of alcohol isoproyl (or an electrical contact, cleaning solution). I hope that this will restore the normal operation of the keys.

To replace the top key locate top edge first and lower aid in position and apply progressive pressure the bottom of the key top until your feel/hear a 'click '.

If all else fails, then you need to replace the keyboard, but fortunately, they are not too expensive (about £65 I remember well).

    Good luck

  • On Satellite Pro C50-A-1HP keyboard problems

I have seen other issues of keyboard on the thread, but none of them do not seem to match mine!

I got this computer since January and already have problems with the keyboard. The main problem is the left arrow key - it works when I press on the left side, but not if I press on the other side of the key.

I also have the feeling that the other keys do not always work as well as it should - sometimes, I know that I pressed a button, but the letter does not appear. It's just random and sporadic I can say (while the key problem of the arrow is consistent).

I would be grateful if anyone has any advice on this problem and if that means getting a new keyboard, or if it can be easily fixed.

    Thank you!

On the virtual path that is not easy to say why you have this questions but as much as I know there is not some difficulty for her.

I think keyboard must be exchanged.

  • Satellite C50-A-1DV - mouse / keyboard problem

Just bought this laptop and have heard of problems with the keyboard and mouse.
    It happened to me today.

The mouse stops just in response to the movement of the keyboard.
Thought that update of Windows 8 may have changed / added something so this causes rolled the driver in Device Manager that was available as an option, but now is not.

The mouse still works sometimes and sometimes not. If I press F5 it sometimes is.

using the FN and F5 took me to the keyboard layout where I set the keyboard to the default setting and it worked well for a while and then stopped again.

Someone suggested removing the battery and now the switch for 20 seconds, but has nothing actually. Is an appropriate solution for this outside assistance from a separate mouse?

    All thoughts welcome.

    Thank you

    Dave

    Hello Deborah

The touchpad could be simply disabled in case where you have not checked it in the past, the combination of keys try Fn + F5 to switch from a touchpad on/OFF function.

In case this does not resolve your problem, reinstall the electric Synaptics and Alps Touchpad driver.
Both can be found and downloaded from the Toshiba UE driver page:

    Hello.

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L505-13n I buy a week before and I clearly install windows 7 ultimate 64 bit Greek with all drivers 64-bit for this laptop that I find in the toshiba site.

I have delays major keyboard when I press a letter, this letter, start typing itself many times it stops for 1-2 seconds and continue typing.
This is the problem because under conditions normal conditions this letter and each letter or text go he must be entered WITHOUT ANY BREAK.

I check the hard drive, and has no problem.

    I try to run LiveCD:
1 Ubuntu and other linux editions
    2. Windows xp
    3. Windows vista

and to clear formatted the hard drive try to install:
    1. Windows 7 64 bit
    2. Windows xp Greek sp3

    The problem remains.

Please tell me what to do and I can try to solve this MAJOR problem for me.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND YOUR ANSWERS.

Retest with original Toshiba recovery image. With the settings everything should work well. If this is not the case, there must be a hardware problem.
You can try with the BIOS update, but in my opinion, it is not best idea.

Laptop is new and everything should work again.
Test it with the original recovery image without having to install the updates or other software, just clean recovery image. If the problem persists, contact the nearest Toshiba service provider to check the functionality of the keyboard.

    What else can you do?

  • Satellite Pro C50 keyboard problems - A - 1 L 6

    Hello

I just bought this new Satellite Pro.

I have installed all the drivers and updated the bios to the latest version, but I still have the same problem: when I write, many times my keyboard writes double letters (for example, all ten words written keyboard a letter double, as "keybboard").

I tried also to change the properties of the keypad on the control panel of Windows 8, but nothing has changed.

I called support, but they just told me that I have to bring my laptop in a helpdesk: but I need my new computer to work, and I wouldn't be happy to lose at least 4 weeks!

And, support told me that, if the laptop has no hardware problem, I would have to pay for assistance...
    .
So, this is my first experience and unlucy in the world of Toshiba...
Is there someone who can give me some advice to solve this problem?

    Hi noor21

If you have similar issues using internal and external keyboard, then I recommend you to run a recovery process that would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

After this check, if your BIOS is up to date.

If the keyboard problem will always appear even if you define the laptop back to factory settings, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba because the keyboard failure may be related to hardware problems.
