Satellite M30-104 - cannot set a good resolution on external monitor

Hello world

I have a Satellite M30-104 with a nvidia GeForce FX5200.
This works well but when I plug in an external monitor, which is a widescreen 1440 * 900, I can not put the correct resolution, even if I install the latest driver.

What can I do?

Thank you

Hello

First of all you must check in your manual if your graphics card would support such a resolution external.

But note; you will not be able to select this resolution if the graphics driver doesn t contains, although this resolution would be supported by the graphics card.

As you can see two facts are important: driver graphics and graphics card can support this resolution if you want to use.

Welcome them

I am struggling with this situation of resolution of external monitor for the past two weeks. Since the research I did, it is a very common question; However, I did find a solution. I tried all the solutions have not been successful. I hope someone here can help you.

    Asus K50IJ laptop

    Win 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit SP1

    Intel Core2Duo T6600

    4 GB OF RAM

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Monitor is Samsung SC750_S24C750P connected with VGA cable (laptop doesn't have a HDMI output)

I reinstalled the drivers for the graphics card; current driver is 8.15.10.2302 of 11/02/2011

I reinstalled the drivers for the monitor; current driver is 1.0.0.0 11 13, 2012

Monitor is currently appearing as "HDMI" in the Device Manager; I have chosen "Analogue" and had the same results. Now & then I see "Generic PnP monitor" in the Device Manager. whenever I see it I uninstall it.

Bottom line is this: settings keep bouncing everywhere. On rare occasions, I saw the picture I want on the external monitor; When I close the lid on my computer (that's why I bought the external monitor - so I can get a bigger picture, not two), the resolution is 1024 x 768. When I disconnect the external monitor, I get the correct image and ratio 16:9 (1366 x 768) on my laptop screen. When I connect the external monitor I have two choices for the resolution: 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

I went to the Intel graphics properties tool and set a resolution to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz - 32 bit - proposed by Samsung for their monitor. Result 7 choices of resolution, no '' recommended '' and the higher tag 1366 x 768. I can live with 1280 x 720; When I choose this resolution or anything higher, the laptop screen is superb, but the image on the external monitor covers 1/4 of the screen - the rest is black. Reset the external monitor doesn't change anything.  Computer restarting does not help. Monitor disconnect/reconnect does not help. I tried this routine dozens of times.

I really need to use the external monitor, and I need the image proportional. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi, thanks for the response.

I saw this on the Intel Web site so I tried mode extended without change.

If I had 1366 x 768 on both screens, I would have been delighted - instead, I had two choices on my external monitor: 4:3, covering the entire screen with a distorted image, or 16:9 which covers about 40% of the screen.

The most likely explanation I can think of is that the external monitor 4:3, I used in the past has left a kind of preference file in my computer which could not be changed, so he kept coming back to 4:3 instead of 16:9. I thought the problem might be the VGA - VGA cable, but this does not explain why I was unable to cover the entire screen on my external monitor with something other than a distorted picture.

Using the past because I was forced to buy a new laptop. As soon as I plugged on the external monitor, everything was perfect.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Satellite Pro L550 - cannot get 1920 x 1200 on external monitor

    Hi all

I can't get nativ resolution (1920 x 1200) to my external monitor via HDMI conection.
Catalyst or monitor settings in windows XP gives max res only 1920 x 1080 - why?

NB Satellite pro L550 (ATI 5165, hdmi), LG L245WP (hdmi). Thanks for the reply.

    Hello

Cable HDMI and the port, would support the resolution 1920 x 1200, but the fact is that if the graphics card or the graphics driver doesn t card supports this resolution, then you won't be able to choose and use.

In your case I would look in the user manual and check if the graphics card would support this resolution. If the graphic card supports the problem could be related to the graphics card driver that does not contain this resolution.

  • Satellite Pro S300 - cannot extend the desktop to an external monitor

    Hello
I have a Satellite Pro S300 and it won't extend the desktop to an external monitor / projector, but it will clone the desktop?

    so far I have tried:
2 instructors and 1 projector all do the same thing, will clone but not extend.
Reinstall the latest drivers to display on the Toshiba site.
Reinstall the latest drivers of change on the Toshiba site.

But nothing worked, I even checked my S300 colleagues to make sure that I use the same parameters and their (of 2 other s300) extend and clone office.

Has anyone seen this before and how solve you the problem?

    Paul

Did you first remove the old driver before you install the new driver? If this is not the case, try to reinstall the driver again. Therefore, to remove the old driver, restart the computer, use CCleaner to clean the registry and install the new version you can find on the Toshiba site.

More I would try updating the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site too.

I hope it works for you.

  • Portege Z30 - A - 18 M - cannot set the native resolution on the external display

    Hello

I tried to connect two different displays full HD to my Portege Z30 - A - 18 M and I was unable to set the native resolution - maximum resolution I can put for those is 1680 x 1050... I was not so surprised by the first that I had a few problems with a native resolution when I connect to the laptop computer Satellite I had before. But then the same thing happened when I tried the other view.

I thought that this notebook can handle a higher resolution external... Is there a way to force the native resolution of the external display in Windows 7?
    Thank you!

Just a question: have you plugged your Portege with HDMI cable and use only the HDMI option?
With other words went from the desktop to the external display only computer?

I don't have this machine, but I think you should be able to see the desktop on an external device to the HD full 1920 x 1080 resolution.

    Hello

Have you checked if the new HARD drive is recognized properly by the BIOS?

I m not 100% sure, but maybe the size of 120 GB might be too large and so the BIOS would not recognize as it should.

  • Satellite M30-S309: cannot change on the local network adapter device

    Hello

My name is Sebastian and I have a Satellite M30-S309 I can't configure IT the Connection WiFi.
The drivers its OK (and reinstall) the LAN, but the WiFi RADIO network ok is OFF, have any opportunity to step ON this Board?

I reinstall the KEYBOARD shortcut, but I think that the app or utility for the Fn + F8 key and the LED does not.

    Any can help me?
    Thanks in advance,

    S.

You said the LAN is ok, but are you sure that the wireless network adapter has been installed on this laptop. Please check in the area to network adapters Device Manager.
If the wireless network adapter has been installed, you should see the wireless network card in this area. As much as I k now the Wlan switch on the front of the laptop works only if the wireless network adapter has been placed.

  • S2340M not recognized, cannot set an appropriate resolution

We have a user who is using a laptop dell and docking station.  "She was just an external monitor (lenovo 23") and we have recently added just on the other, the 23 Dell ' S2340M - in display settings, it shows up as a monitor generic PnP and we are unable to set the correct screen resolution.  When you try to install the drivers from the CD that came with the monitor, it is said that there is no dell monitor detected and the drivers will not be isntalled.

I removed the card graphics, restarted, and he came upward as no generic PnP and allow me to set the size of appropriate resolution.  However, he only let me duplicate monitors, not extend them.  Using the dell CD once again, he might not, always recognizes the Dell monitor.  Finally windows automatically re-installed the other graphics card, I was able to extend the monitors instead of both copies, but the Dell returned to the generic PnP and will not let me set the appropriate resolution.

I also tried to use or monitor in various combinations of VGA and DVI ports.

The S2340M must be connected directly to the laptop through its video cable. The driver must be installed from the Web site, not the CD. The S2340M should appear in the Device Manager. Once done, both turned off. Connect the S2340M to the dock. Dock the computer. Turn on the monitor, then the laptop. The S2340M should always appear in the Device Manager. Connect the monitor Lenovo to the wharf and set up.

  • Satellite 210CS - the screen stays black (even to an external monitor)

Dear Toshiba Forum members and guests.

Several months ago, I found an old laptop. When I turn it on, the screen remains black. And when I connect an external monitor to the laptop via the VGA input, two screens are black. I used a flashlight, pulled on the LCD screen of the laptop, but I don't see all the details on the screen.

I thought it was because of the empty RAM slots. This week, I bought a RAM-unit and installed.
I tried to start the laptop again, but nothing on the two screens (even though I used a flashlight).
I searched the Internet for certain solutions, but nothing works. I also tried updating the BIOS, found on the Web from Toshiba site.

    Some information on the laptop:
    Toshiba Satellite 210CS/1.3
    PA1230E
    48 MB RAM
    1.3 GB HARD DRIVE

    Date of manufacture: 4 ^ th ^ October 1997

If you want more information or you would like more information, please put a comment in this thread.

I hope someone can help me solve this problem.

    Thanks in advance.

I think there must be some serious hardware problem.
I don't think that someone will be able to tell what part exactly failures because it could be any inner part.
You buy the RAMs again. Well, in this case, we can exclude RAM problem, but there is probably a motherboard, CPU or a graphics card problem.

From my point of view of the few you don't have many options: perhaps you could found some other good treatments Satellite 210CS somewhere in the internet since it is not very easy to get parts for this oldie

  • How to set 1280 x 800 on external monitor connected to the Tecra M2V by APR3?

    Hello

I have a Tecra M2v (with intel Extreme Graphics 2) and recently got an Advanced Port Replicator III and a 15.4 "WXGA LCD display. According to the specifications of the laptop (LINK to DL the PDF specsheet) it will support an external monitor with a resolution of 1280 x 800, but I don't know how to operate. The only resolutions that I can find are for 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024.

I installed the latest version of the bios (v 1.30) and have tried different drivers of intel and can not get the wide screen resolutions to appear. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to work?

    Hello Randy

Are you sure that your external LCD can manage with a resolution of 1280 x 800? You attempted to set this resolution without Advanced Port Replicator III?
