Satellite M30: cold - no fan work

Hello, I used my recovery Cd, and since then my satellite is not cool. I don't hear the fan operation. What should I do?

Hello

The fans do not work or you do not hear only fans work?
If the cooling module works not the CPU can damage.
In this case, you should not work on the laptop if the CPU can't be cool and you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country for the control of the laptop.

    Hello

My M30-113 does not work well when I use FreeBSD 6, 2-RELEASE http://www.FreeBSD.Org/

I was told that Toshiba has release a new bios to correct the problem of cooling, because it does not allow me to fan passive cooling in FreeBSD.

So could we have a new bios to solve this issue?

    Arabian salvation

I am sure that mobile industry is focused on Windows operating system and hardware architecture together and preinstalled software are adapted and also configured to run well and stable.

This operating system is supported and if something should be better portable manufacturers offer different updates to the BIOS. Of course, you can preinstall what you want but you can not expect support for everything you can find on the market and because of this I n t believe that you won't find any update especially for FreeBSD 6.2 - RELEASE BIOS.

  • Satellite M30: FN keys not working not not after installing IE7

I installed IE7 and noticed that the fn keys no longer work. (Satellite M30)
I don't know if it was the catalyst because I do not know how long the problem has been.

The only ones I use often are FN + f6 and f7 +.
I really need to be able to adjust the brightness of the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First lights up the screen can be changed also in the Toshiba Power Saver utility.

But it s very strange that, after the IE7 update the FN keys stopped working. I installed the IE7 on my laptop, and the FN keys still work very well.

So maybe it of a simply wrung something in the registry. Who knows?  :|
I recommend reinstalling the common Modules.

    Maybe it helps!

  • Satellite P100 - 387 CPU fan works like crazy

    Hi all
I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100-387. I bought it with 2 friends. The same model.

The problem exists only in 2 of the 3 laptops. It looks like this. When I start the machine everything is ok. While windows starts cpu cooler (or video card cooler if it exists) starts to work. If the fan starts to work the low speed at the highest. And did it for 5 - 10 times. Then a few minutes break and again. It's really noisy. It seems that when you insert a CD or a DVD.

It goes like this also when windows is started. No high consumption of CPU, the fan works like crazy. Start at full speed for 2-3 seconds, then for 1 second and still the same.

Everyone has the same 'characteristic '?
What is this Toshiba Power Saver software works with p100-387?

    Hello

I P100-109 close to me and I noticed the same thing. There is no difference between preinstalled WXP or Vista and because of this, I assume that this is a normal behavior. I know it's sometimes troubling, but unfortunately you have to live with it.

  • Satellite A135-S4527 cooling fan works more efficiently

    Hello

I have an A135-S4527 and the cooling fan is having issues.
It works at low speed constantly, as it usually does, but almost never, he runs in mode high speed.
Clearly, it must be that the air temperature is high enough... about the temperature of the exhaust gases from the typical vehicle.

I'm worried that it will burn upwards if I have not fixed, but I don't know what needs to be fixed.
I use a "Chill Pad" USB power under him at all times to make it work more fresh than the factory settings, but this problem has arisen only recently.

I've owned this computer from a little less than two years now.
5 months in the property, the HARD drive failed and had to be replaced (it goes without saying, I save ALL my important files now).

Does anyone have information on this topic or the normal functioning of the cooling fan?
If so, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Nick

    Hello!

As Akuma, it could be that it takes more dust in the cooling fans or fan doesn t work properly.
So in your case, I'll try to clean first using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. You can buy it at a computer retailer.

If it doesn't work you should sent to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your laptop and clean.
Maybe the thermal compound must be renewed and technicians can do for you. It of a little more difficult to disassemble a computer laptop and you need to remove a large number of screws so he sent to an ASP.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30-801: CPU only works with a 600 MhZ

Hi people, I have a strange problem since my PC back to toshiba support (lcd problem, on assistance report i red that the pcb has been replaced): my CPU goes up to 600 MhZ. I tried to update the version of the bios from 1.20 to 1.70 successfully and I have restored the default value believing it could be a related problem of bios , but nothing changes.

The problem is present in a new installation of Windows XP (from recovery CD), so I think I could exclude a software problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance
    Roberto

    Hello

The update of BIOS does ' t solve this problem.
It seems that the Toshiba service partner forgot to start several compatibility tests. This is necessary after some repair procedures. Without this additional test, the CPU does not work with maximum efficiency. Well, there is nothing to see. You must contact the service again and it should solve this problem.

  • Satellite M30 - keyboard does not work

    Hello

I have a problem with the keyboard of my laptop:
Since I was able to type the password of the BIOS, it should be correct from a technical point of view.
But once having written the pass BIOS keyboard no longer works. It just doesn' react - it is even impossible to hit F2 to open the BIOS menu.
XP / system displays all hardware conflicts.
The laptop do not fall down or something like that.
I bought a USB keyboard, and it worked correctly from the start.

I tried every shortcut I know and a lot I didn't know until now, but it still does not work.

Is there a shortcut XP or Toshiba to disable the keyboard?
Or do you think this could be a hardware problem - but why it should be possible to write the password...?

    (1) your bios can recognize an external input device and causing the keyboard not working after giving you access.

    (2) remove all other usb devices you have connected (mouse, webcam or other) because they could be interpreted as an external keyboard

    (3) if there is no USB device connected and the problem persists... remove your keyboard drivers external usb while you plug it (remove drivers dethrone device) and before you restart your computer, make sure to remove the external keyboard.

    (3) you can have a software virus recorder or a keyboard that connects to the interruption of your keyboard.

If none of these permits, try to boot in an o/s different as the knoppix linux that runs directly from cd without need of installation. If your keyboard did not always works, then bring it to support, because the internal flat cable might came down in part.

    Good luck

ATI Radeon 9600/9700 mobility driver for Satellite M30

Hope it works somehow been research throughout the day now :(

    Hello

It s your lucky day my friend.
Check out this site and download the drivers you need:

    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.OmegaDrivers.NET/

The drivers are native drivers for Nvidia/ATI, but the file *.inf (files containing the settings for maps and information material) have been adjusted for mobile systems. This means that you can install on your machine, and by the way, you will get the most current drivers.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M30: brightness adjustment is no more in Vista

    Hello

I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate and I found that the brightness on my Satellite M30 controls no longer work. If someone has had this problem and know of a fix for this. Previous operating system was Windows XP Home.

    Concerning

    Alex

    Hi sand

The brightness of the buttons don t work because necessary Vista drivers are not installed or are missing.
Unfortunately, for M30 Vista drivers are not available and the Toshiba statement that I found here in the forum, the Vista drivers will not be published because this laptop is not able and not Vista support!

It seems that you have to live without this function if you want to use vista

    Hello

In my opinion, it's a very bad idea to open Notepad on your own. As you know that books are very sensitive units and if you have no experience you shouldn't do this. I guess that the guarantee is valid for two years and open Notepad, you can void your warranty.

I'm sorry, but I put t see any means cleaning without dismantling because there is no cooling grilles of ventilation and air in the lower corner. On some laptops from Toshiba, the of cold air is visible and the cleaning procedure is much easier.
Before doing something wrong contact partner in your country. It is also possible that there is a problem with the CPU fan and it can be exchanged.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L50 - B fan works even if the CPU load is very low

I recently bought a Satellite L50 - B and I made a Windows 10 updated. The problem is that the fan works even if the CPU load is very low and the noise bothers me a lot.
I ordered the video card driver and the system tells methat driver is updated to the latest version.
I don't know what I can do to change this sad situation.
Please, please, could you help me solve the problem?
Thank you very much for your support and understanding.
    I await your quick response.
    Thank you.

    What CPU temp? Probably overheating?
Try to replace the thermal interface on the CPU. ;-)

  • Satellite L755-11j - cooling fan seems to have stopped working

    Hello

I have the model Satellite L755-11j and I'm really happy with it, strong, fast and reliable, I have only one problem: my cooling fan seems to have stopped working.

I don't know if it's a hardware or software (BIOS is set to dynamic switch, and in the power management is set to 'Active') delivers, because I come from Croatia, diagnostic PC is incredibly overpriced here and I can replace the fan on my own.

I want to just make sure I don't buy new cooling fan and my problem persists. Install speedfan and Toshiba PC health monitor only confirmed what I suspected, my laptop gets hot.

I bought the external cooling fan to help keep the temperature of my laptop down, but with the coming of the summer that I really want to solve this problem.

To be honest, it is not easy to help you with this. Is that cooling fan works automatically and there is not a special option where you can control. Only thing you can change is the cooling method option that you can find in the advanced power options > Toshiba power saver.

Check it please what option is set to on. Of course on this virtual path, it is not easy to tell if the cooling fan is defective or not.
It works or not? Can you notice hot air flow when you put your hand on the cooling grill placed on the left side of your laptop?

  • Satellite A200 - fan works too

    Hello

I will present my problem briefly to you in the hope that I can find a solution.

I work with recording music. My Satellite A200 can handle the processor high and all the rest. I'm really very happy.

But the fan works just too well even when CPU is not used much. I installed The Ultimate Troubleshooter (excellent software) in order to eliminate unnecessary software or process. My RAM is 73% free, low 0-10% CPU and my fan speed is measured at 47 degrees Celsius. My hard drive is 33 degrees Celsius. Very low.

The boring bit, is that my fan is behaving intermittently, but even when nothing is really happening, and the temperature is still very low. I have another laptop to compare to, which is quiet and peaceful in the other corner of the room and only takes action when I activate several operations at once. I wish my Satellite to behave in a similar way.

I cleaned the fans today, and a lot of dust came out. But still the fan curve. I tried to take control using SpeedFan 4.43, but it does not work. I don't see anywhere in the BIOS how I could control the speed of the fan.

I need to find a solution, ideally one that doesn't involve buying a new fan, or disassemble the computer. Since the temperature is right at all times, I guess it's just the BIOS programming for constant speed activity that must change. Any suggestions? It would be appreciated.

    All the best, Shlomi.

    Hi shlumaan_1,

    > I cleaned the fans today
How did you do that? Did you follow the instructions?
How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system?

There are different reasons for activity high fan and dust that blocks the fan, the thermal paste should be renewed, etc..

Fact is that the fan will be controlled automatically to protect the equipment from overheating. What you can do is chancing the cooling method in Windows power management. I put t know what operating system you use but on Vista and Windows 7, open the power management options, change the parameters of the plan, cooling method. You can change between maximum performance and battery optimized. I would recommend setting the optimised battery.

Also, check the BIOS version. If you have an older version, probably thermal management has been changed with a new version of the BIOS. Update the BIOS that you find on the official website of Toshiba.

Finally, and especially if your laptop probably has a few years, that the thermal compound must be renewed. This is why I would contact an authorized service provider that will apply the correct thermal grease and also the laptop must be disassembled. Not so easy

  • Satellite M30-106: USB Ports not working not

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Satellite M30-106. One day, the system froze (Windows XP with SP2) during the passage of the machine off. I was forced to keep the button "power" for a while in order to close the system. However, since all 3 USB ports do not work.

The system does not recognize the "" them. I can't see in Device Manager. I tried to reinstall the system, but it did not help.

Can someone help me, pelase =)

    Hello

It looks like a hardware problem. At whatever it is connected to the USB ports at the time? Could you check the USB ports visually and see if they are damaged or wobbly. It is a bit of a long shot, but you may have a short circuit decision and which could disable the USB.
If the motherboard is damaged then outside fixing/replace your only option would be a PCMCIA USB card, they are not expensive.

    Best regards
    Swarvek

  • The screen is black, but working satellite M30

I have a satellite M30, I was watching a movie through another monitor when the battery is dead.

Now, when I restart, the screen is blank. If I attach to the other monitor it works fine, but pressing the "Fn + F5" key will not bring my screen to life.

    All ideas are welcome.

    Hello

The Fn + F5 key combination is one of the two screen options for change.

I think that you will find an option to change the display in the properties of the graphics.
You must mark the monitor 1 and check the use this device as the primary monitor

I think that this should allow the screen of the laptop.
