Satellite M40X 299: no boot after recovery

Hello

I have a problem with my satellite M40. After a problem with spy software, I tried to format my pc.
I did a restore of the system with the original cd. At the end of the mind, I pressed ctrl + alt + delete to restart as it was written.
But nothing happens, I have only a cursor in the upper left corner of the screen and windows does not start. I did the operation 3 times and it's always the same result.

I don't know what more I can do.

Thanks for help.

Excuse me for my English

It's very strange. Can you get the CD of Microsoft facilities and try to install the OS? I'm really interested if the same thing will happen again.

Please don't be crazy on me because I t n wrote a few exact explanation but after recovery without end I've done in the last 8 years I have never seen anything like it.

I replaced the hard drive in the Satellite A205 and used the Toshiba Recovery and disc drivers/Application to re - install the drivers and Windows Vista.

However, when the recovery ends and the windows starts for the first time, I get a message: Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer.

The new hard drive is a Western Digital 500 GB SATA.
Is there a conflict with the new hard drive?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

It might be possible that there is a conflict with the new HARD drive.
Try to start Windows Vista is SafeMode (F8-> safe mode)
    Is this possible?

You can also try to repair the system.
    F8-> fix my computer

  • Satellite L10-194 cannot run after recovery

Hello! I used my Satellite L10-194 for a few years, and he started to be really slow, I decided to reinstall the system (recover) to make it cleaner and faster.
I found my recovery of product L10 DVD - ROM, but when I finished the system restore would not start. I tried the recovery for some time, and it does not help. Whenever I try to start the computer, when it goes to load the system it just turns off (I think that it is something like the blue screen flashes for a second).

I checked the disk file image in advanced mode and HARD, and that's OK. But when I do HDD-> image in advance mode, after it is sometimes a moment when I have access to the command line. After getting "dir C:" I don't see a Windows directory (?), when restarting the computer does not work as usual. I'm doing something wrong?

I tried another CD of product recovery of the second Toshiba laptop that I have, and it works, it installs Windows but without pilots and things (it's a completely different model from Toshiba). What should I do? I'm not sure if the use of system preinstalled for model is the right idea (and legal)?

I had some problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

    PS.
Sorry for my English, please correct me in my errors, to help me improve the language :)

    > I had a few problems with my front L10, and I had to change the motherboard. In service, what they said that they can't find a motherboard identical like that in my L10, so they used some different model. It's maybe the problem of recovery does not work why?

I think that this is the reason why your laptop does not start after the recovery procedure.
Seems that the drivers that are part of the image are not compatible with the new motherboard.
Maybe the driver chipset or make sure you graphics card drivers some worries and windows crashes before starting the system
Maybe you could star the windows in safe mode. Press F8 just after pressing the power button / stop. Then choose Safe mode.
In safe mode, uninstall the chipset driver and the graphics driver and then try to start it again.

If that does not help, then install windows using a clean Microsoft CD.
Pilots should be placed on the page of European driver of Toshiba.

  • HP ProBook s 4540 - system does not boot after recovery

My friend gave me the laptop, because the system has not been detected. I decided to recovery operating system.
I had to face following error messages:

-I did not receive "Boot Device not Found" error

I started the HARD drive with result success test

-next step was to recovery OS
He finished with the new error message
"The boot image selected is not authenticated to. "Press to continue.
    According to this topic:
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/selected-boot-image-did-not-aut...
    I did following:
    -secureboot changed to disabled
    problem persisted

    -legacy changed to enabled
Since then, I'm not able to do anything. When I leave the start system, it ends with the HP logo, and nothing happens.
When I press ESC after a reboot, menu appears, but I am not able to enter the BIOS. If freezes all the time in the menu with the text highlihted.

I tried to remove the battery, unplug the power, press the powerbutton for 30 seconds, nothing has changed.

Next step should probably be to temporarily remove the RTC battery, but I don't know if I'm allowed to open it without losing the warranty.

The laptop is about 3 months old.

    Hello:

Because the laptop is under warranty, I suggest your friend contact HP technical support and ask them to solve the problem.

When you get a not found boot device error it's hard drive (if the test says it is spent or not) or the drive controller on the motherboard.

I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

HP support will probably have your friend go through certain stages that you did before they tell him what to do next as return them for warranty repairs, etc.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you very much

    (I'm French: p)

    Hello AJAX,.

    > How can I make a clear CMOS on Satellite P300 please?
    This is not possible, mate.

You can access the BIOS Setup when you press the F2 key?

If this isn't the case I think that you already have what you can try and it seems to be a serious malfunction of equipment. So I contact nearest authorized maintainer and ask for help. ;)

    Hey,.

Can you start in safe mode when you press the F8 key?

If you don t have a recovery disc and can access t the start menu Windows Advanced, you can try a normal Microsoft Windows disk to reinstall Windows.
All the drivers and tools that you can download from the Toshiba page.

  • Satellite L40 - unable to boot after cloning HDD

    Hello

I tried to clone my hard drive using Norton Ghost 15 and managed to bumble big time. Now when starting, I get a message saying windows do not regonize boot sequence. Enter in the instalation disk, choose the language and click on fix my computer.

The single disk that I received with my laptop, was a recovery disk, which I guess will remove everything. Where can I get an Instalation disc or is there another way I can start and fix my laptop?

    Kind regards.

    Yrret

    Hey,.

This means you have cloned the current installation of Windows on another HARD drive?
Well, maybe that something was wrong during this process or this version of Ghost is not compatible with Windows XP
Have you tested with another program?

    > The single disk that I received with my laptop, was a recovery disk, which I guess will remove all
Yes, this disk will delete everything on the HARD disk to restore to factory settings.

    > Where can I get an installation disc or is there another way I can start and fix my laptop?
You can get a normal Windows disk of each computer store I think.
You can access the Windows Advanced Boot menu?

  • Satellite M40x won't start after upgrade CPU test

I have a portable M40x I took the CPU out of it to replace it with another to test the computer started fine then I stopped and took out and put it's original return CPU, and it wouldn't start. Now it primer with any one of all the CPU. When I turn on the power, all I get is a white screen for a few seconds and the laptop is closed down. Both the CPU is good because I since tested on other computers to make sure that this was not the problem.

Anyone has any ideas on what is the cause?

    I m not surprised.
As far as I know, Toshiba does not support updates, and it is not advisable to do something like that.
It of one that the replacement of CPU on laptops is not easy and not recommended.
The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation.

He was awarded the new heat paste? It s necessary and important if you want to connect again the CPU.

It is perhaps a reason for not starting.
I think more details you will get from the service guy in your country

  • Satellite L300 refuses to boot after BIOS update

    Hello

L300 my girlfriend was terribly dragged so we decided to format C:. We did it with the XP restore disc that came with it.

Then we had to update the drivers. We started the installation of upgrading the BIOS on Toshiba driver site, disappeared for a while and when we returned, the computer has restarted itself.

He has been stuck in a cycle of the screen "loading windows" and one with a lower bar that says press F2 for this or F12 for this. Tried all the options in the start menu, not even safe mode works.

We have tried to reformat with the previous method, by inserting the XP CD and by holding down the 'C' button when starting. We get the familiar "Windows Setup" screen, and it seems to load all the files from the CD windows installation. But when we come to the installation, we get a blue screen error message. "A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer...". Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D254, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Nothing seems to work, please help! We really want to save the images on the disk D: partition.

    Hello

Try to configure the BIOS to the default settings.
You need to access the BIOS, and there you can set the default value.
Please check if you can install the operating system by using the-> AHCI and compatible SATA mode.
If you are using AHCI to include the SATA drivers. If you are using compatibility mode, then SATA drivers are not necessary.

If you want to get access to the HARD disk before you install the operating system in the C partition, then I would recommend to start the laptop using a Windows Live CD WinPE and BartPe.
Both are live CD what don t need an installation, you must boot from this drive only to access to content on the HARD drive.

  • Upgrade memory for a Satellite M40X 299

I need to upgrade the memory of my Satellite, but I can't find a memory location... is there not another?
I had 1 come on, now, I have 1.5 GB (replaced a 512 to 1024) and I would like 2 go (by replacing the other 512 with another 1 GB)
    can someone help me?
    thanx

    Hello

Well, there are two sites of memory, but only is extensible.
As far as I know as the 512 MB is standard and memory max that you can use is 1536 MB (512 MB + 1024 MB)

Unfortunately, you can use 1536 MB and more is not possible

  • Satellite M40x overheating while game

    Hello

When I play a game on my toshiba laptop (satellite M40X) it gets overheated after about an hour. I wonder if someone also has this problem and if I can do anything other than take EIT to the store?

    Thank you

    > I wonder if someone also has this problem and if I can do something
Don t wonder about this question. It was nothing unusual after 1 or 2 years of use of the laptop.

The problem is that all the devices and parts of portable computers run full implementation and produce a lot of heat all in game.
I think that the cooling modules are blocked and fans do not twist full implementation!
This led to the rise in temperature and to automatically stop down.

The laptop automatically stops because it supports thermal protection to avoid damage!
    It s a feature, not a bug ;)

So what to do? It s simply.
The cooling modules must be cleaned professionally. Usually, the jet of compressed air should just help to clean the fans.
In a case value, you need to contact a mobile technician who could clean up the laptop inside.
Then you must get rid of this evil little but annoying ;)

    Best regards

  • Error and warning before and after the POST - Satellite M40X 129

    Hello

    I use a Satellite M40X-129, bought in 2005.
After you have reinstalled Windows and all the necessary drivers (after more than 3 years, which was the longest time I used a windows ;-)) installation this afternoon, I meet the following situation when starting):

(... check and all the stuff of ram...)
    Updated System Configuration data
    ERROR
    0271: check date and time
    WARNING
0251: System CMOS checksum bad - default configuration used
    Press to resume, installation

When I press F1 to resume, windows starts very well as I'm used to it.
I can also access the configuration and need to update the time setting.

    Two scenarios:
    (a) the startup, shutdown, reboot: error message happen
    (b) setting the time, out of the bios with save the configuration, boot, very well until the stop/restart is required

I tried to download the update of the bios to v1.60, but the configuration tool told me that this version is already in use and it will not progress.

What I wondered: why is it happening? I don't think that the battery power is low, which was suggested to others in other threads, because it happened just after I installed the chipset/utils and other drivers from the toshiba download page.

    What can I do?

-Bios update? -> Where can I find a new version? A tool (which I downloaded from a site linked to Phoenix Technologies) told me, there is an update for my Bios, but he wants me to join a subscription $29.99 / year

-Swap CMOS battery? -> how remove m40x-129, tutorials? Don't want no f * ck it upwards...

    any other advice?

    Thanks for your help.
    Best regards

    Hello

I think that the CMOS battery may be empty and therefore both a given in the BIOS is always changing the default value.

Usually, you should be able to recharge this battery CMOS very easily.
The user manual describes how to load this. Take a look at your manual

As I m not wrong not the laptop must be ON and running and must be connected to the mains for more than 20hours.
Then, the notebooks BIOS battery needs to be recharged again.

    Check it out!

    Good bye

    Hello

I think that you´re in serious trouble now. If you have ever tried to get a recovery, unfortunately without success to an ASP, you will need to buy one in the United Kingdom.
It would be best to contact a partner registered in the city of you´ve bought the machine and ask them for a replacement of your lost recovery.

    Any better idea´s? :)
