Satellite M40x: Vertical blue lines

every time when I start a program with something that moves, the display shows heavy graphic failure. Then, if I start any normal program like Word etc I get blue stripes (vertical) even in the system message boxes. If I try an external monitor, the problems are the same.
so the display should be ok. I have the latest driver from ati and direct x 9 c.
What can I do?

Hello

It's not easy to say what can be the problem. Sometimes this error appears if in the display properties color palette is set to 16-bit. Please change the settings for 32-bit color.

Hopefully this issue can solve the problem.

Best regards

  • Vertical blue lines on Qosmio G10

My G10 never left the House he's even sitting on a desk to purchase since last Christmas. I had finished work one night and come home. The laptop turned on and I tried a game for the first time that I used it to send invoices and word primarily. My brother gave me (Doom) and have installed the game I played it because I guess an hour, before leaving the game. I put music on it while eating the usual thing of tea. I noticed that the music had stopped and inspecting why? the screen was black with the fans on and the blue light? What had happened that I didn't have to suspend modes to operate?

I couldn't do anything using CTRL ALT DELETE. I had to turn it off. I managed to do start up to the Qosmio logo but there was blue vertical double lines from left to right through the logo then the screen went black. I knew that this was no viruses because we have two PC an older one that is used with the e-mail, etc.. I was able to reinstall the CD drive / Qosmio recovery as advised, but the problem was the same. But most of the time, it just lights up and remains black screen, not even a beep? After a while, it shuts it

When I turn on the unit it has black screen and logo will come with these lines. The unit can not even start in safe mode. Why after all just a year to happen something like this?

I noticed that some users have similar problems. I also noticed that this model has been interrupted in many places. Why? Is there a known hardware problem?

Tomorrow I will call Toshiba, or perhaps to write e-mail and ask if there are known hardware malfunction.

    Hello Christian

I found a few topics on this forum with a similar content. I assume that there are some known problems with the graphics card. Please contact your dealer or service partner Toshiba and they will give you more information about it.

I have also read that some models Qosmio will become most recent and the best map graphic when it should be replaced. I put t know if it will happen with your unit too but you can read under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=10944&messageID=42211

Like I said before contact please Toshiba authorized partner in your country.

  • Satellite P300-150 - blue lines on screen

A question on my blue screen but as a non geek computer havn't a clue how to describe. Here goes.

The normal white screen of my computer began to appear with the shifting of the blue lines through it. However when I push my computer screen laptop back to my lap screen is stabilizing and is normal.

    Hello

This means that if you have the screen, the image will not display correctly? Is this good?
And what you mean exactly with white screen exactly?

Right now it sounds like that the LCD cable has a loose fitting and should be replaced. Therefore, you can contact a service provider allowed in your country to replace this part.

  • Satellite M40X-230: display fault - vertical lines

My laptop crashed last night and on itself reboot screen displayed (spaced on each 8mm) vertical dotted lines and then crashes with the following message (edited for the relevant points)

"Windows was arrested to avoid any damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag...
The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver...
    "Technical information: * STOP: 0x000000EA (0x822185B0, 0xF8972CB4, 0 x 82133288, 0x00000001)".

The screen is damaged now wherever the phone is turned on.

However, if I have it start again, after the error, then mode message without failure, once Windows is used the display looks good (he is still defective prior to this, however). The same fault also occurs with an external monitor.

I tried to uninstall the driver for the graphics card, but that makes no difference.

Any ideas? I would like to reinstall windows, but that the fault if poster before the aircraft reach POST I really don't think that will make all the difference. That the screen is in Mode safe but not while it is booting up also does very much make sense to me either.

Thank you very much to get this far in my ramblings.

    Rich

    Hello

    According to the error message:
"... This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver... »

It may be a faulty graphics card because the same defect appears on the external display. But diagnostic tests are required to be 100% sure what s the fault could be.
The Toshiba service partner can start the test and then can give you some details about the failure. So, in my opinion, you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country.

  • Vertical dotted lines and bad shading on Satellite P30-109

    Hello

    Sorry for my bad English,
I have a problem TFT on my Satellite P30-109.
Regular vertical dotted lines and bad shading.
I formatted the disk with the recovery disk, but nothing has changed.

An irregular viewing is present during windows startup.
    What can be?
Have you any suggestions? I have to throw my PC?

    Thanks for your help.
    Stefano

Chain is quite right. If the same thing happens on an external device there is problem with the video card and probably the whole motherboard must be exchanged.

Sorry, but you must contact partner authorized in your country. If you need address, you can find them under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

  • Thin blue line on the display on Satellite Pro U200

My laptop screen has suddenly started to show a thin blue line that goes up and down the screen, so that it does not interfere with the details of the screen it is very annoying and I d rather try to get rid of it.

Has anyone seen this happen before?

My first idea was a display problem, but this problem could be linked to the fault of the graphics card too.

    So how can I test?
Well, you can connect an external monitor to the laptop.
If the same thin line will appear on the external display, a graphics card problem may be possible.

In both cases, the hardware must be replaced. I think that it s time for the guy to ASP.

  • Satellite C70 - A - 16 L - 3 vertical white lines in display

    Laptop Toshiba Satelite =
    Model: C70 - A - 16 L

Yesterday I noticed a vertical white line on the right side of the screen, running from the top to the bottom, this morning there are 3 lines about 1 cm apart.

    This may be the cause?

The lines are all located above the powerbutton on the screen that they do no when go further I move the screen.
    Laptop was purchased in April

These lines are visible on the 2nd external monitor?
If not, then the graphics card is OK and your internal monitor seems to be affected.

I think that in this case that the display needs to be replaced.

  • Long blue line of the axis on the display of the Satellite A100-207

    Hi guys

During the few days a thin blue line appeared in the center of the screen-it disappears and reappears on the change of the angle of the screen of the laptop open. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause and possible solutions?

    See you soon

    April

There is a very simple method to find out what might be wrong.
Connect the laptop to an external monitor and see if the same thin blue line appears on the second monitor.

If the same line will be available on the external monitor, I assume that there is something wrong with the cell phones of the GPU (graphics chip).
This could be a case value because the graphics card is attached to the motherboard and the entire motherboard must be replaced to solve this problem.

But if the line does not appear on the second monitor or there is a problem with the LCD itself, or with a small part as FL-ups for example.

In any case, it seems to be a hardware problem, and in this case he must contact the ASP!
Try to contact the technician and ask for later handling.

    Good luck

  • Satellite M40X Screen Display problem

My Satellite M40X has a black vertical line which occupies 20% of the screen on the left side. The rest of the screen shows a full view. Change the display settings makes no difference, and there is no mention of this error in the manual. You don't know whether a problem with the LCD screen or a problem with the adapter and drivers. Wanted to check if someone has experienced something similar and can advise you.

    Hello

    Check using an external monitor.

If the same vertical line would be seen on the external monitor, an internal graphics card problem may be possible
In this case replace the defective

Since the GPU is a part of the mobo, you need to replace the motherboard that can be a costly affair

  • LaserJet pro 400 color: Blue lines on the right side of the page when printing in color

When printing in color I get this blue line that occurs on the right side of the page. It is darkest near the edge and shoot low towards the printed part of the document. It is a vertical line that follows the entire length of the page. I printed a report of quality and it is always present. In my view, this indicates that it is a hardware issue, rather than software. Is there some rolls or the part that needs to be cleaned? Can you provide a link to the instructions?

    Thank you!

    Replace the cyan toner cartridge.

  • Problem starting on Satellite M40X-250

For some time, I'm having a problem with an old laptop, the Toshiba Satellite M40X-250.

When I try to boot this laptop, the headlights turn on, I can hear the hard drive and fan from, also I can hear (if I have one there) station cd read cd/dvd.

But nothing else happens, the screen remains black and there is no way I can make it work.

I quite know something on the desktop, so I disassembled the laptop completely and just cleaned and after I reassembled it again, but that had no effect, I can not even boot up the laptop.

There is however another strange thing, it is very rare, but sometimes I get to start, but at some random point (very quickly, because I can't actually use the laptop) it is for me a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) with an error code, I think it was 0x000000EA. In any case, this meant a driver problem with the graphics card. It gave me an error ATIDVAG.

But most of the time I'm still not able to start.

Now, it's a very old laptop and I have tried everything,.
I tried to start without battery (disconnected) and only the power, without result.
I tried to start only with the battery, no results.
I tried to unplug the power supply and the battery, then press the power button / stop for 60 seconds, no results.
I tried several rescue cd, a linux installation cd, windows installation cd, it resulted in nothing.
[EDIT] I have also connected to the laptop to an external monitor, but that did not work, no results.

I'm really lost now, I have tried everything I know, and I've never met a problem like this.
Maybe it's just the fact that material became old and it is better to give up, but I would really like to know if there is someone who can help me and maybe give me some ideas on what I can do.

I am very familiar with the inside of this laptop and I know what to do. I don't want to not call me an expert, maybe it is a little off, but I know my way around.
so, if anyone has a solution, let me know.

    Regards and thanks in advance.

Black screen means that the display is faulty or chip chart.

But if the internal screen would malfunction, then you should still be able to use the external monitor, but I guess that's not possible, therefore, I think that his GPU problem

  • Satellite M40X - material works does not after re-installation

    Hello

I just reinstalled my Satellite M40X with a WXP Pro. For some reason all the edge
hardware does not work and it is still impossible to install it manually.
    Does not not to date:
    W - Lan (not shown)
Controllers USB (although my usb mouse works fine)
all of the controllers listed in the list of material

I tried to download the drivers from the hp toshiba but nothing worked
I could not find the drivers for the controllers in general.

If you have suggestions please tell me

    Best regards

My first question; why don t you use the recovery CD?
My second question: WinXP Pro contains SP2?

Hey dude, or you have installed the fake software, drivers or / and updates are missing.

First install all updates from Microsoft and secondly if you install divers manually do not forget that you do it in the right order!
Did you check the Toshiba driver page exactly? You will find installation instructions. Have you followed this guide line?

I thik you know now what to do.

  • Satellite M40X-119 does not start - 4 beeps only

    Hello..

    I have Satellite M40X-119
When I press the power button, the blue light comes on and the fan starts and then only 4 beeps
(Beep - beep - beep - beep) intreval approximately 1 seconds. and then nothing happens!

I replaced the RAM with a new one... but still the same

    any advise?

    Hello!

As far as I know the Satellite M40X has a Phoenix BIOS.

Phoenix BIOS, there is no code 1-1-1-1 (beep-beep-beep-beep).
I think it is 1-1-2-1 or something else.
Here is a list of the different beep codes:
    http://bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm

If you replaced the RAM, I think that there is something wrong with the CPU or the motherboard.

    Good bye

    Hello

This error message can occur if a hardware component malfunctions, or if it has installed the damaged or incompatible drivers.
To resolve this issue remove additional memory modules that are installed on the computer, leaving only the minimum required for the computer to start and run Windows. Restart the computer to see if the error messages persist.

This issue has been described on the Microsoft Web site.

  • Satellite M40X 185 linux live cd, noise and temperature

    Hello

I just bought a satellite M40X-185. I flashed the bios with success of 1.30 to 1.60. Windows XP home (preinstalled) works perfectly. I found three questions:
    1. when I try to boot from a cd live linux (suse 9.3 dvd, knoppix 3.9 or mandrake move) the system hangs. Any idea of this behavior? With knoppix, it seems to hang while loading driver cardmgr. So I thought it was a problem with the linux cardbus but ultimately suse live driver dvd 9.3 has succedded in load correctly if I disable acpi (command-line ACPI = off). TR is the problem related to M40X material and/or bios version or is it related to linux (the kernel version maybe?). Thank you

    2. it seems to me that coolig system is much more noisy when I use the toshiba power management. If I use win XP default portable power management mode, the computer is much quieter!

    3. is there a way to measure temperatures of system (CPU, MB, GPU, etc...). Previously I have hade a satellite A50 and speedfan (www.almico.com) was able to measure all these parameters.

    Thank you

    Hi Sid

I'll try to answer best I can.

    (1) maybe the system BIOS is not really what the Linux kernel expects and so stops. Please see the Linux very good page of Toshiba:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de
Maybe you will find some tips on Highway M40 Linux ACPI.

    (2) time MS Toshiba power management and power management is supported by the profiles of school boards. Means that you can set according to your need, how the machine should act. In the Toshiba power management, you have many more opportunities than in the version of Ms. In the Toshiba module, you can choose to have machines operating in performance mode which means that it will give priority to the performance (which normally means of cooling by fan) instead of throttling of the CPU in order to limit heat production.
You can also do the opposite - give priority to silence (fan less and less speed) for the performance.
Of course there are some other settings as well (screen, disk HARD times sleep and so on).
I mean, is that the module from Toshiba is probably set up for performance, which means that you get the fan noise. If you like you can set minimum performance and so less noise. It has its advantage the Toshiba module - it is far better to control of the small parameters and levels of breakdown and time. So, you are in more control of your system.
Sorry for the long lesson - I'm the same at home and he is not popular :)

    (3) sorry - no answer here except that I don't know why anyone would want this. That's enough for me to know that the system controls all of these things by himself and goes off in case of overheating.

    BR

    Tom
