Satellite M70 151 sometimes freeze

Hello everyone

I bought a laptop used by Ebay. The problem is that it won't probably work.

If I press the case around the keypad button restars suddenly or it just freezes. Or when I'm working with all seems well but then a gel again. Then sometimes I get a blue screen 0 x 00000019 (0 x 00000020, 0 85683780, 0x856837B0, 0x0A060006)

I already checked the RAM with Memtest drive HARD with HD Tune, HDD Health and the CPU with the first, but everything is fine.

Something is wrong with my machine, but I don't know what that would be.

Hope someone can help me.

Hello!

> If I press the case around the keypad button restars suddenly or it just freezes
Looks like a hardware problem. Maybe it s a bad connection on the motherboard and it must be repaired or replaced motherboard.

In your case, I would go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check the laptop and determine why the laptop crashes or restarts all of a sudden.

On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

Good bye

  • Satellite M70-151 - how to upgrade the display driver?

    Hello

as the topic says I ran out of options to update my graphics card Radeon X 700 on my laptop...

I tried to see here: http://de.nodevice.com/driver/Mobility_Radeon_X700/get44199.html
After installation, I learned that he had to go on the manufacturer's site to get my drivers

So I ended up here: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE
Still no idea who was the Radeon X 700 driver, I tried every update... Most did not anyway, and when I check my graphics card driver put in says that my current driver was 5 years old.

Taking advantage of the distraction of the online games I noticed that went it a few seconds sometimes. Most people recommend that you update all my drivers, but it seems more difficult than I imagined

So please, help me find the right link to update my graphics card! To help speed things up a bit, I added my DxDiag report.

    Thanks for your help

/ Edit: addition of the DxDiag total was not possible due to "inappropriate language"... O.o

    Hi Sarahbella,

You can download the driver on the Toshiba site. Therefore, check the link you suggested and look for your model of laptop. As far as I know Satellite M70 151 belongs to the series of PSM71E, to look for with these elements:

    Laptop > Satellite > Satellite M Series > Satellite M70 (PSM71)

Download the driver and run the setup.exe file.

  • Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

    BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

    * My questions are: *.

Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?
What I need to preformat the hard drive, Toshiba-Hardware will recognize the hard drive?

It would be great to get help on this issue, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

    André

    Hello Andrew

This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

The strange thing for me is that judgment. The blue screen tells me that there may be some serious hardware problem, the HARD drive controller might be. It's really not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem.

  • The right side on Satellite M70 151 is very hot

I bought a Satellite M70-151 (17 March 2006). It's a very good computer but I have a problem: after about 10 minutes (depending on the application) the part of the right of the label «Designed to...» "and especially the portable speaker becomes hot enough. So hot that the left hand starts to the sweltering heat and work with the laptop is very clumsy. It's hotter than directly above the truck on the right side. I tried to influence with the energy-saving heat, but it did not work. The van is still on but this part of the laptop is still warming. Can anyone help?

    Hello Jochen

I don't have this camera, but I guess on this disk space HARD is placed and it's because of the HARD disk activity. It is true of my camera, but I can leave with her because I use my laptop with external TFT and external keyboard.

Like I said this is probably because of the HARD disk activity and you can try to change the HARD drive power settings in the power management.

    Other features:
    ? Mass storage controller
    ? Network controller

    ? Video controller (VGA compatible)

I searched and searched, but can not find the drivers for these 4 things

I have sound but only weak, I don't have a WiFi Yes feature I tried to install the good (as advised by Toshiba) Lan Driver [link to driver | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_driver_details.jsp?ID=58122&OSID=10&drive rLanguage = 42 & selectedLanguage = 13 & driverCountry = 41 & selectedCountry = 8]

    First of all, we should start with basic information;
The M70-151 Sat belongs to the series of PSM71E that's why you should choose this issue of the European driver Toshiba page if you want to download the correct drivers.

_You will need these drivers: _

Mass storage controller I think it is a cardbus driver
Controller - s network a LAN or WLan card computing. First, check which driver is already installed

  • Satellite M70 164 - screen freezes and goes black, overheating

    Hello world! :)

Recently my Satellite m70-164 started to freeze after only a few minutes of work. The picture on the screen freezes, and a few seconds later, it becomes completely black.
The computer doesn't even have time to warm up, and it's not stop... It's just the screen that freezes and becomes so black. I have to reset the computer by pressing the power button. (I write from another computer).

I noticed that working time reduced whenever I have reset the computer and after some time it freezes even though I am in the BIOS settings, so I don't think it's an OS problem.
Even if the computer does not have time to warm up, this suggests it might be a heat problem.
So I tried pointing a fan this is low (a big, like the ones we use in the summer), and it works without problem!

With the fan facing these, I reinstalled Windows - so no Virus.
Laptop fan * not * continue to operate as it is overheating.
The fan runs and it is not clogged as I've cleaned.

So if anyone has the same problem, or ideas, please respond!
    (And sorry for my English)
    Thanks in advance! : D

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with you. In this case, even in the BIOS, that it has nothing to do with Windows or a Virus. In this case, it seems to be a hardware malfunction

But before contacting an authorized service provider to diagnose what part is the cause, clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This should be done from time to time (every 4 months) and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Satellite M70-169: screen freezes and meshes + mouse freezes

    Hello
Hope you can help. So far, I'm impressed by my toshiba satellite m70-169.

He has recently developed an intermittent fault: when the tilt of the screen the effect of light mesh on it and the screen freezes. The mouse also hangs at this point.

If I tilt the screen one way or the other I can get it to work properly. A slighy inclination of the screen can cause the screen to freeze again. The problem is getting worse, however.

The machine has never been dropped or struck, but was taken by one of the screen when it is open.

I disassembled the strainer and push gently on various points and cables but nothing in this area suggests a loose connection or a weak point. So I believe the problem is in the essence. I tried to open this up but it fails because I didn't force anything.

Question 1: any suggestions on the problem and possible solutions?
Question 2: advice like how to open the main part, so I can check any loose cables, connectors or broken bones?
    Question 3: patterns for disassembly?

Even once - I hope you can help - thanks in advance...

    John

    Hi John

The above user is right. It s too risky to disassemble the laptop without having any experience with laptops.
It is why I always recommend taking to a technician.

But if you want, you can have a look here:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaM55/laptop_LCD_screen_removal.htm

It s a site on satellite M55 and withdrawal screen.
But once again; You can do everything BUT only at your own risk! ;)

  • Replacing battery Satellite M70 151

    Hello!

I have a laptop M70-155 and his well - worn battery controller is dead.

My country is quite specific about the Nice shops, so only possibility for me to get a new battery is to buy it in a line store, newegg.com in particular.

    Currently I have a PA3465U-1BRS, 4000mah.
And newegg doesn't offer not any which directly compatible with M70 battery. It does not really suspect that the m70 exists - it was sold in European Union only.
But there PA3465U-1BRS and it is compatible with e.g. M55-S141.
Also he extended capacity PA3478U-1BRS, which is also compatible with M55-S141.

If these batteries two enters portable similar I think they too are compatible with my machine, and I can get more. Am I wrong?

    Hello

Generally, Satellite M50 and M55 are the same models and batteries are the same for the two workbooks use the same models of battery.

Before you order anything here the list of all compatible batteries for your Satellite M70:

    PA3465U-1BAS (6 cells).
    PA3465U-1BRS (6 cells).
    PA3457U-1BAS (8cell),
    PA3457U-1BRS (8cell).

So, if you want to have the battery with high capacity order the last of them.

    Hello

I own an M70 151 for one year. And now my media keys (internet browser, player, play, stop, forward, rewards) are not working. And all of a sudden my wireless multimedia keyboard keys do not work, too. I reinstalled Toshiba controls, Toshiba driver controls more than 10 times without success.

I searched for hours on Google but have not found anything. Even reinstalling the wireless keyboard has not helped. I also looked for hours on the Web from Toshiba page and forum, but found no useful things. Help, please.

By the way: I can't reset my phone because I use it for work. I have to solve the problem without deleting any hard disk and I n have disk Toshiba-tools, it should be on the hard disk, but it is not.

    Hey dude

What drivers for laptop you have chosen?
The M70-151 is a series of PSM71E and therefore, you must reinstall the correct drivers.

As you have already mentioned there are control utility and driver controls. The driver must be installed below the first.
I think that you should remove the old utility and drivers and then after reboot new, fresh, you could start the new installation.

Toshiba download page tools and drivers, that you can find on the Toshiba. But the options for creating Tools CD should be included in the assistance of Toshiba.
The Toshiba Recovery CD should be supplied with the device you.

However, I think that a lot of applications and software has been installed on your operating system and possibly a 3rd party application could has a bad influence on command buttons. Maybe the registry entries are corrupted.
Reinstall the software and check again. In addition, you can check the option controls in the control panel.
If this doesn't help not you must use the recovery :(CD

  • Satellite M70-151 - SDHC does not work

    Hello
I have a problem with SDHC memory card. My Satellite M70 can not use this card. When I plug the card into the slot, that nothing is happening. It is the 8 GB card.

Is there a driver to install because I found nothing?

    Hey,.

Have you checked the user manual of your Satellite M70. If this isn't the case, please do it!

The user manual contains a list of compatible flash cards and the point is that SDHC cards are not supported. You can only use SD cards up to 1 GB.

If you want to use a 8 GB card, you must use an external card reader.

  • Satellite P200-140 sometimes freezes in XP

    Hello

I put Windows XP with Service Pack 2 on my P200-140 after his purchase last week.
For some reason it sometimes freezes, but recovers by itself after 10 minutes or more.

It only happens two times a day at most and happens so that only programs runnig 1 or 2...

I installed all the Windows updates, but also the latest BIOS update.

I will probably reinstall XP, but the thought that someone might have a simpler solution.

    Any ideas?

    Simply repair?

Well, you could solve the problem if you want to know what exactly is the problem!
But I put t think anyone here will be able to tell what is causing these strange crash.

First, it would be very interesting to know if the laptop works properly with the delivered original OS (vista).
Try to install the OS restore CD.
In this case the laptop runs with the factory settings.

You test it without any installation of the 3rd party software and programs.
If the system will work stable, then it is definitely not a hardware problem of problem but the software.

  • Satellite L30 (PSL33E) - sometimes freezes

    Hello

I'm in big trouble with Windows XP pro SP3 & my Satellite l30 (psl33e).

I removed vista to install Windows XP with an original CD of XP SP3. So I formatted hard drive and begin the typical installation. Problems start when installing: the computer crashes sometimes, something like 10-20 min. Finally install completes, but computer is still really slow.

I have installed all the drivers from the Toshiba site, restart the computer between each installation. The restart time is like 10 min and sometimes driver install hangs also. After 3 hours, I was able to connect to the internet, so I've spent on the Windows Update site; Here, I've installed all the updates, but I still had the same problem, sometimes computer freezes for 10 to 30 minutes. When the computer crashes, you will see the hard drive light.

When I start Windows boot time is long enough for a new installation, something like 5 min. The sound icon appears 15 minutes after office expenses with the LAN & wan icons minimum 30 min after. Network works well as soon the configfree icon appear (and therefore of office). I can't run HWsetup, but PC diagnostic tools don't report made by any problem with the hardware.

I tried to check the drivers with a pilot online checking tool (ma - config.com), they were all aware, idon't have a problem in the hardware Manager. Windows is up to date.

I checked memory with memtest, still no problem. I have updated BIOS, no change. My hard drive has been freshly fully formatted, so I don't think that's the problem. I even tried to reinstall Windows, still the same problem during installation and after. the original CD, I used to install Windows is not clean, no scratches and works perfectly on my other computers.

I did not have this problem with Vista, but I really do not want to use, 1 GB of memory is too low. Everything is good, drivers, Windows, programs, hardware, but computer still hangs when it wants to.

So I absolutely do not know what to do, I'm looking on google for 2 days without response. I think it's a cause of problem of Windows questions begin during installation.

I would really apreciate help someone. Thanks in advance & sorry for my bad English,

    Pedro

    Hey Buddy,

    > I think it's a cause of problem of Windows questions begin during installation.
Why do you think that? In my opinion, if this problem starts when installing has nothing to do with Windows because it s not completely installed then why Windows should ask this question?

I think it s a bad hardware work if you already checked the memory with Memtest so I think that the RAM should be ok.

From my own experience, I recommend to check the HARD drive for bad sectors using Drive Fitness Test or another HARD drive diagnostic tool.
I had a similar problem a few years back that the boot system has been very slow and the reason was a bad sector. So I checked the disk with Drive Fitness Test that shows the bad sector. Now, I have replaced the HARD drive, installed Windows again and everything worked again properly! :)

    Hello

Since a few days of view, I have a problem with my laptop, Satellite M 70-151.

There is a vertical line (dark gray) in the middle of the screen... It appeared when I used microsoft word.
At first I thought that it is just an error display or something... but after a reboot, it was still there... so I tried reinstalling display drivers...
other drivers to install the display, but it did not help anything. The line is not as visible on a screen... It is always in the same place on the screen

so I think that it cannot be that the material... the screen itself, but I was always very carefully with Notepad.

my warranty ran out 5 months ago... do anyone know what I can do now?
Don't know how to fix :(

    (sry for my bad English)

In my opinion, it's certainly a hardware problem. I am not sure, but it must be malfunction of the display. To confirm this test with external monitor. If the desktop without this gray line certainly display problem.

How to solve it? You can live with it or the display must be exchanged. Also, there are not many possibilities. You can contact the authorized service provider to see how much the repair will be fresh, or you can try to view an opportunity (e.g. eBay). The second option is cheaper but without maintenance manuals, you should not disassemble the laptop on your own.
