Satellite M70 - I want to upgrade to Vista
Hello.
Three days before I seek assistance and advice in this thread if I upgrade a Satellite M70 (PSM71) of XP - Pro to Vista.
Thanks for the advice coming from Luke_1 & Eldorado I could do my studies before the upgrade.
Today I was searching Internet and I found this page:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/tsb7201sk002hr01.htm
This page tell me that my computer is not supported to be upgraded from Toshiba.
So, what can I do?
Thank you.
Hello!
Why start a new thread?
However, the Satellite M70 (PSM70) is ranked on the site of Toshiba notebook compatible for an upgrade to Vista.
The PSM71 is similar to the PSM70 and on the site of Toshiba, that I can find all the drivers for Vista you need.
So you can upgrade it to Vista.
Good bye

Satellite 1000-Z2: want to upgrade the RAM
I have the above model, but I can't find any information on this subject on the Toshiba site. I want to upgrade the RAM, but the documentation with the machine that was purchased from PC World in 2001 does not contain details of the speed or the type of RAM to use.
Can anyone help please?
Hi George,.
I think the Satellite 1000 came with two memory slots and was initially equipped with 256 MB of RAM. It is expandable to 512 MB total RAM.
the following link contains the details of reference numbers and RAM options: -.

I have two old desktop computers running Windows XP and want to upgrade to Vista
I tried the windows 7 Advisor and he said I'm going to need a professional installation. Just trying to see if I can optimize these to give to a women's shelter. I want to upgrade, but don't have to. Is there any where that I can at least a scanner to check if vista is compatible?
Thank you
Hello
Vista Upgrade Advisor is no longer available.
That's the only advice we can give you to see if you can upgrade to Vista:
«Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Vista drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.»
If not available, Vista will not properly work for you. »
"System requirements for Windows Vista"
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/919183
But the minimum requirements of Microsoft are just that, minimum.
To begin, I would double the recommended amount of RAM for a machine that works efficiently and at a reasonable speed.
See you soon.

I want to install Windows 7 Professional. I ran the Windows Upgrade Advisor, and he told me that I can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium and Ultimate. Why not professional? Or is this correct?
You can still install Windows 7 Pro, but it requires a custom installation. This will remove all your programs (you will need to reinstall them), but you can save your files and settings to external storage before doing so.
If you want to make a place in the upgrade you will need Home Premium or Ultimate.
How to install Windows 7:
If you have Vista:
Update: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7
Custom installation: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7-custom
What Upgrade Options are available for Windows 7?
If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium
Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows Vista Business
Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
Windows 7 Ultimate

Satellite M70-151 - how to upgrade the display driver?
Hello
as the topic says I ran out of options to update my graphics card Radeon X 700 on my laptop...
I tried to see here: http://de.nodevice.com/driver/Mobility_Radeon_X700/get44199.html
After installation, I learned that he had to go on the manufacturer's site to get my driversSo I ended up here: http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE
Still no idea who was the Radeon X 700 driver, I tried every update... Most did not anyway, and when I check my graphics card driver put in says that my current driver was 5 years old.Taking advantage of the distraction of the online games I noticed that went it a few seconds sometimes. Most people recommend that you update all my drivers, but it seems more difficult than I imagined
So please, help me find the right link to update my graphics card! To help speed things up a bit, I added my DxDiag report.
Thanks for your help
/ Edit: addition of the DxDiag total was not possible due to "inappropriate language"... O.o

Hi Sarahbella,
You can download the driver on the Toshiba site. Therefore, check the link you suggested and look for your model of laptop. As far as I know Satellite M70 151 belongs to the series of PSM71E, to look for with these elements:
Laptop > Satellite > Satellite M Series > Satellite M70 (PSM71)
Download the driver and run the setup.exe file.
Check this box!

I can´t find the drivers for the Satellite M70 here on this home page.
Correct this as soon as possible.Hello
AFAIK the M70 is a new unit. In this case, all the drivers on the utility CD & delivered tools are up-to-date.
I think that if new updates are available you will find them on the Web site.Best regards

Hello
already made an update of the BIOS? It would be useful, maybe it s just because the BIOS does not correctly handle the Ultimate. What drivers did you download?
It s a bit tricky, but I think that if you reinstall, and then put the drivers on it, it should work. Don't forget: Vista Ultimate needs a lot of resources and a bunch of useless stuff that can cause the machine does not properly.

Satellite M70 (PSM71) - can I upgrade it to Vista?
I upgraded my computer laptop M70 (PSM71) of Windows XP Home, XP Pro.
Can I upgrade it to Vista and how?
Thanks in advanceHello
First of all if you want to use Vista on this laptop, then you should do a clean install of Vista!
Second, there is a 5.30 - VICTORY especially for Vista 32-bit BIOS update! This means that you must update the BIOS if you want to use Vista!Regarding the Intel WLan driver:
Choose the one who is working on your laptop and who recognize the Wlan card!
The driver WLan can also be found here:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/New BT stack can be found here:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/WinDVD8 cannot be downloaded for Vista it s additional software and it s only on the Toshiba Recovery disk

Satellite A215 no sound after upgrade to Vista o Win XP Pro
Hi all
I bought Toshiba notebook A215 series with Vista for 2 months. I have upgraded to Windows XP pro yesterday, everyhing looks ok but no sound. I checked the management of the material for the sound card, it seems normal.
Someone knows this problem?
Thank you.Hello
I noticed very strange and different problems after downgrade to XP.
And to be honest, the question of his No. is not uncommon. You know that some series of portable needs a special version of the BIOS after installing Windows XP or Windows Vista. It is important to use the right BIOS!
In addition, you should be sure you used the right and compatible Realtek audio driver.
If you need to download a new one from the Realtek page.Last but not least you must update the operating system to the State.
To do this, use this MS page:

Want to upgrade hp vista 32 home premium... for vista 64 - Hp pavilion dv9628nr
64-bit (vista) operating system is the way to go for me on this system, but I can do? And there at - it falls from the sky
inherent with vista 64 or should I give up vista 64 and windows 7 64 with this laptop to do?
DV9628NR is fully able to support WIndows Vista 64-bit. You can go ahead and do a fresh install of Windows Vista 64-bit on your system. You can not move from 32-bit to 64-bit because of the difference in the architecture of the operating system.
In addition, instead of Windows Vista 64-bit, you can even try Windows 7 64 bit. Here is the Internet link that has the Windows 7 installation guide:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-systems-and/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv6000-dv9000-models/td-p/179816

Hello
I found the info you can use batteries to follow: PA3457U-1BAS (8cell) and PA3457U-1BRS (8cell). I don't l? t find the info that you can use better. The battery 8 cells is probably the best you can have.
As far as I know your device must be supplied with DVD-super multi drive and I don? t know what you mean with best. Is it not enough?
RAM can expand and you can use DDR2 400/533 512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51) and DDR2 400/533 module 1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G). Maximum RAM for this device is 2 GB.
Other info you can get from your local dealer.

The upgrade to Vista on Satellite M70
Hi all
Recently I bought windows vista Ultimate edition. I have a satellite M70 that was the sentence compatible vista under the designed for xp sticker/hologram.
I ran a compatibility test that said Vista Home Basic with my equipment is the recommended package!
I don't have that ultimate. I read views on the performance of vista ultimate, with people who use the same or similar configuration such as myself.
IM is really after some clarifications in the whole of the process and whether or not its recommended to install vista at all!
Only, I have basic computer knowledge, but have heard of people who speak a "second partitions" as precautions. More info on it would be also great.
Any comments would be great, thanks in advance
Dave
P.S.: I have 512 RAM, 1.7 ghz processor. Its processor intel centrino. 60 GB hard drive!
Hello
I tried Vista Ultimate on my M70 capable non-Vista and it works fine but extremely slow. My M70 only has 512 MB of RAM, and I think less than 1 GB of RAM there is no sense to install and use Vista.
OS works well. All hardware components are recognized correctly except SD card but I do not have much talk (not so important to me).
On the sheet music, I can only say that it is always recommended to create two partitions. For the operating system itself and the other for recording data. If you have problems to create two partitions, please write again.

Need of tools & utilities for Vista put updated by Satellite M70 - 129
I recently upgraded to Vista, but I noticed all my toshiba programs such as toshiba powersaver disappeared!
How can we get their...?
Thanks in advance.
I found an official document from Toshiba in this forum that says Satellite M70 laptops are supported and the Vista drivers will be published. When? We'll see
I noticed that Toshiba published new drivers Vista every day now, be patient.By the way: as far as I know that Toshiba has not designed Power saver for Vista for any series of laptop.
Windows Vista uses a clean power options, and these options are very similar to Toshiba power saver.
So Don t wait release Toshiba power saver because they won't come out this tool for Vista -
Satellite M70-131 - I want to add more RAM
Hello
I have a Satellite M70-131
Part number: PSM70E-01500RARI want to add more RAM, because I know you have to check three points to buy a new:
-How can I add?
-The type of RAM?
-The number of the BIOS or BUS?I'm not sure about the third point, I know that I can add to 2G, and the type of RAM is DDR2.
But if I have the right point, how can I check the number (BIOS or BUS)? Because I tried to add one, but did ' t work!Help me please
Thnx 4 allHello!
The Satellite M70-131 can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM and you have already said you need DDR2 RAM.
Specification for RAM is DDR2 400/533 and you can add two modules with 1 GB of capacity of each module. The reference is PA3411U-1M1G.What do you mean with many BUS and BIOS? This has nothing to do with an upgrade of RAM.
Good bye
