  • Satellite P100: After BIOS update 4, 00-WINNER cannot use his & wireless card

    Dear all,

I was a proud owner of the Satellite P100-437 4 months already, but last week I started having major problems with my laptop. First of all, next day after I bought the laptop with Vista, I get off my laptop for Windows XP SP2 and everything was fine. I had all this work and I enjoyed my laptop a lot. Last week, I checked Toshiba web site for new drivers and I downloaded the new update of the bios 4, 00 - WIN and apply.

After the headaches started. Suddenly, I lost my sound, but in Device Manager the sound card works fine. In addition, the small light in the wireless switch is missing and then the wireless device, saying also in the device manager that works very well.

I backed up all my data and reinstall win xp, clean and I installed the audio drivers and nothing has changed, the sound is still missing. Same story with the wireless. Yesterday, I've been witness to something else, I have attached an external hard drive, that is with usb connection and also usb power, and suddenly the sound and the wireless back for everything, but interrupting and finally disappeared again.

So, now, I wonder what to do and any help on this is appreciated. I work on cruise ships and my laptop it is priceless.

    Deniz

    Hello Deniz

I told everyone every time: Please do nothing while OS works well!

Do not forget this. The problem is that your laptop comes with Vista OS and BIOS is also designed for Vista. You were very lucky to run Windows XP Home edition with success and now you updated the BIOS designed Vista yet. I really wonder not that you have problems now.

What to do in this situation? It's very good questions. Try reinstalling the drivers for the sound and WLAN. Maybe this will help. Maybe clean install of WXP. I can't say for sure. I A200 (also Vista preinstalled) and I think that for the moment I have no interest in updating anything. Not yet.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite P100-196 - Bios (4.80) includes the update of the EC/KBC?

Anyone know if the update of the BIOS of the Satellite P100 (4.80) includes the update of the EC/KBC? I downloaded the BIOS on this site and installed it but it does not show if the EC/KBC has been updated as well.

If there is an update that is separated from the EC/KBC where can I download it?

    Hey mate,

If there is no update EC/KBC special on the Toshiba site, I assume that it s included in the update of the BIOS. I've never seen such an additional update on the official website of Toshiba, so it seems to be a part of the BIOS update. :)

  • Satellite P100-222: BIOS password has been set - why?

I have Toshiba Satellite P100-222 and my problem is the BIOS access. A few days ago, I bought nootbook and if I want to go BIOS F2, I have to write a password to enter. My question is do you know where I can find this password? Perhaps this password is default for all nootbooks models? If so, I'll be gratfull to give myself to him or delete.

I'll be waiting to meet you.

    Hi Pawel,

There is no password to the BIOS when you first buy the default on a Toshiba laptop. They are defined by the user through the installation and configuration (and even then they are optional).

If you bought your laptop to a Toshiba dealer, it is possible that the dealer has put the password in this case, you will need to ask them what it is. If you bought your laptop private (of someone else) then the same thing applies, you should ask them what your password.

In any case, if you do not or can not get the password then you need to take the laptop to an authorized service partner for them to reset the CMOS chip and reload the BIOS.

    Hello

I have a problem on my Satellite p100.
I broke the screen or something!

When I start the computer I press the Start button and the laptop start normal. But the fact is that the computer starts but not the screen.

The screen is not from, but the computer does!
The screen is black, but I've heard say that im in windows beacause of the sound beginning...
    I didn't break the screen,

Can Some1 help me? Please, I beg you!

Maybe you accidentally switched the display on an external monitor?  :|
Have you tried to use the FN + F5 key combination to return the display on the laptop?

In addition, I would recommend linking the external monitor to the laptop to check if something appears on a second external display.

If this does not help with this strange problem I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country. Maybe, display works really bad and a very small part or whole LCD screen needs to be replaced

  • Satellite P100-160 refuses to connect to my router 3Com with WPA - PSK

Help! My new laptop Toshiba refuses to connect to my router 3Com (f/w 2.06T13) model 3cWDR100A on WPA - PSK. The router only supports TKIP (no AES).

The laptop, a Satellite P100-160 is under Vista Home Premium with the latest Intel 3945 11.5.0.32 driver and I tried the version of the site Web of Toshiba version mentioned in other threads (and a few other versions also).

Either way, I don't like latest driver hit with content identical binary files and different date stamps or running of the anonymous installers that have not been digitally signed.

The problem is that non-encrypted, or WEP works perfectly, but WPA - PSK is not. It fails with a diagnostic message 'timeout for secondary keys. The thing will be very occasionally connect to the network without a timeout (before I tried to improve things with the last pilot about 1 in 20 attempts after a reboot, now it comes rather from 1 to 100). If I can be sure that the password is correct. When it connects everything is fine and stable with excellent signal until the first suspended and then the connection is lost. It's more than a little irritating.

I see several topics of doom similar networks to Vista support groups. They all seem to hinge around WPA - PSK TKIP and WiFi Intel chipset x 945 in combination with certain models of router. Please can anyone help solve this mess?

I've seen other threads of networking in Vista by users with this specific Intel chipset and my router model having exactly the same problem and so far nobody has found a solution. I checked the basics of knowledge (MS & 3Com) and tried a few plausible fixes, but nothing helped. I'm out of ideas.

It seems a little absurd to demote network security to make the latest PC works correctly. Dumping Vista (however tempting) is not an option.

Thanks for any suggestions or diagnostics.

    Kind regards
    Martin Brown

    Hello Martin

As you can see this is not Toshiba specific stuff and if there is no 'global solution' I don't really know what Toshiba should do about it. As you all know it should support hardware and software (driver), but if not I don't really see a solution for this.
Who should offer a solution? Toshiba or Intel?  :|

  • Satellite P100-324: the Fans are still running

    Hi to you all,.

Maybe you can answer me the question.
Is it normal that my laptop fans are still running. I put the 'silent' settings in the bios and forced the laptop to run always on 1000 MHz, if I only use it for writing
    in Word or reading emails.

It's really annoying. I don't know what to do.

Thankz for your help in advance

    Michael

    Hello Michael

It is nothing unusual that cooling fan runs constantly on low speed. On modern laptops, there is a powerful hardware that needs to be cooled correctly. Especially many different processes are active in the background and CPU is standing under pressure. Not much when you use just the laptop for writing, but obviously enough to increase the temperature of the CPU.

Try it please set the CPU and cooling to a minimum level method. Also check the Task Manager and end the process, you don't need. Maybe this will help!

  • Satellite P100-222: BIOS has been implemented - how to remove?

    Hello
My brother you guys here asking for a help with a BIOS for Toshiba P100-222. (Pawel KillerPL)
Is possible that after when I'll update of the Bios, the password will disappear?
At the moment, I can't help cos I n t have laptop with me.
I m sure that when I received the box with laptop was originally pack, and I put t 100% think that a certain shop touched the computer and the configuration password.

Is it possible that someone in the factory could do something? Or the bios is failure

    See you soon
    Darek

    Hello

Sorry, but I don't believe that a person of the factory has set the BIOS password.
In addition the BIOS update will NOT delete the BISO password!

Please Note: before you start the update of the BIOS to remove all passwords!
Please first read the document about how to update the BIOS before you start the upgrade.
The incorrect procedure may damage the motherboard!

In addition if you n t the BIOS password you will need to contact Toshiba service partner in your country. There is no other possibility to remove the BIOS password.

  • Re: Satellite P100-434: unable to load its running Xp Pro drivers

I have a P100-434 (SPAD), which is running XP Pro, I decided that I wanted to rebuild the OS because it became very crowded and slow.
I partitioned the HD and installed a 2nd copy of XP Pro with dual boot, but I find that I can not load the audio drivers on the NEW XP.
The driver installation aborts and reports NO MEDIA FOUND.

I checked the driver that I downloaded from the old installation of XP and it works very well, is the sound card and installs the drivers.
I'm a bit of a loss as to why a vanilla OS install can't find the sound card.

So can someone point me in the right direction to get sound? (I've reloaded XP twice with the same result each time).

Windows XP needs * KB888111 * and * KB835221 hotfix * before MS site that you are going to install the audio driver.

-You must install the two patches
-Download the Conexant audio driver from the Toshiba page. I found two different versions. I would recommend checking both!
-remove the old driver its the laptop restart of Device Manager and install the new audio driver download

I am running Linux (Gentoo) on my P100-217 (Geforce 7600). The graphic card fan never turns on, and the GPU gets to a temperature higher than 100 ° C when executing some 3d games. When I boot to windows, the graphics fan does not turn and the GPU is much cooler, running the same games.

Can someone Toshiba please give me some information on how to solve this problem under Linux.

  • Satellite P100 - 324 BIOS reports less than real memory installed, why?

    I have a P100-324 Satellite which I installed 4 GB of memory.
    Memory is a Kingston KVR667D2S5 / 2G, so I installed 2 of them.
I've updated the BIOS, but still when I press F2 to access the configuration
I find that the less than 4 GB installed memory. It makes account
3070 MB. When using windows the systeminfo program reports 4096 MB RAM.
However, System properties, it shows 3.0 GB and that is because
It is 32-bit windows xp mce. I ran live fedora 7 x 64 and he reports only 3 GB as the bios.
Why? Is there a way to fix that.

  • Satellite L500-126: Win7 upgrade - I can re-activateit after a new installation?

I upgraded my Vista OEM Windows 7 successfully yesterday.
What happens if in the future, I need to reinstall the system?
Can I reactivate Windows 7 after installation of the new?

PS my Vista OEM is the version 64 bit and my win 7 is the ultimate 64-bit upgrade version

    THX

I hope I understand your right to question so here is what I know about it:
When you upgrade original Vista preinstalled you do not need to activate Win7, but if you clean Win7 installation then you must activate the preinstalled version.

With other words to have free Win7 of activations, you must install Vista first using Toshiba DVD recovery and then he move to Win7.

Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion, you must wait for official Vista drivers, install them and after making this check the mobile functionality of any computer.

    Hello

I'll still have a little trouble right now you, but let me see if that helps.  You can access the WSDL file for the services set out in the GWWS by simply performing a HTTP GET to http://my.host.com:port / wsdl.  If you want to get just the WSDL files for a set of specific services, as defined in a WSDF file which was imported by the SALT config file, you would use http://my.host.com:port / wsdl? id = wsdf_name, where wsdf_name is the name given in the tag in the imported file of WSDF.  Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a way to request the WSDL (s) associated with a specific end point, even if I think it's a reasonable thing for the GWWS to offer.  If it's something you need, please support a request for development of My Oracle Support.
