Satellite P100 198 (PSPA6E): is it supposed to be which is noisy?

Hello
I just bought this laptop, and I'm a little disappointed because it's very noisy! The fan on the left still moving, even if the system is idle. Would that malfunction or is it because of the power of this computer (equipped with a nvidia 7900 GS)?

What more, the sound has a slight distortion and cracks.
Since I just bought, I can have a standard exchange within 5 days if there is a problem.
Thank you very much for your help!

Hello

I agree with roko. The fact is that it is the result of the miniaturization of equipment. The books are more powerful. Hardware components produce a lot of heat and also placed on the square. Protect the equipment unit to cool properly. As a result, cooling fan works often.

Please don? t see this as a problem just as result of technical development. The notebooks are units of high technologies and every year there is a gap lower between the performance of desktop and portable.

Roko if you see last on desktop graphics cards, you will notice that many of them have big and strong cooling vents. Computer laptop design doesn't? t let something like that because here is no place for this. If you compare laptops from other manufacturers, you will see that there is the same situation.

  • Satellite P100 - 324 (PSPA6E) - Intel T7400 - disabled virtualization

    Hi Toshiba support staff

I have a toshiba satellite p100-324 (pspa6e) with the processor intel core2duo t7400 and my problem is hardware virtualization (VT aka VMX) does not work due to it's locked off the coast by the bios. Also there is no option in the bios to enable it. It's not making any sense that you have this technology, but you can not use.

I'm a professional programmer but I can't test my programs in a virtual environment due to this bios chip. I've been waiting since the 3.30 bios version. Now I use phoenix bios v4.70 but it does not!

I think that the irresponsibility of it's toshiba and toshiba not published a new BIOS to support the features of what they sold, this will be my last toshiba product purchase. It's a waste of money. You should have said clearly what are the features have been disabled if you do not plan to resolve this problem. If the toshiba will continue like this, the number of dissatisfied customer will happen.

As far as I know that virtualization should be Springs per CPU.
Seems the Intel T7400 supports the VT:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=27256&processor=T7400&spec-codes=SL9SE, SL9SK, SLGFJ, SLGFV

If I m not wrong not the VT is enabled and supported by default if the VT option is not available in the BIOS.

How did you check the State of VT?

  • Satellite P100 - 400 (PSPA6E): display driver does not work with Vista 64 bit?

    Hello

I have a P100-400 (PSPA6E) Satellite and I just got the new version of Windows Vista x64bits. I tried this version of Vista because this series of laptops in the 64-bit processors. Well, the problem was when I downloaded the drivers to display on the site and when I'am install the installer says I'm not a Windows vista OS.

Well actually these drivers only work for Vista x32bits. And I had the same problem with the audio drivers. If Vista was running really slowly and noiselessly, perfect...

What I am asking, that is, if you realize laptops with 64 bit, why aren't you drivers that work with 64 bit systems...

    Hello

In fact 64-bit Toshiba drivers are not available at this time on the Toshiba page.
I think 64-bit drivers are not available because Toshiba doesn't provide any laptops equipped with 64-bit operating system.

But as far as I know that the new 64-bit drivers should appear both text.
I'm also looking for these drivers because I m an owner of the 64-bit version of Vista.

It seems that we have to wait but I m sure that the drivers will be available.

  • Satellite P100 - 194 PSPA6E does not start and will not let me install Windows

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite phone, witch, I got from my brother. I don't know what he did with it, but he does not know.

When I start the PXE - E61 "Media test failure, check cable" appears. In the BIOS I put in the directory Boot LAN mode on the last position, but despite this failure E61 appears.

I tried to reinstall Windows XP. The laptop started from the CD and the blue screen appeared and loaded XP drivers needed. But at the end of it, when you enter normally on the menu to choose where to install windows, the screen is black and in the upper left corner a small beam blinked on and outside and nothing happens plus.
The same thing happens when I leave the laptop HARD drive and start again from the XP installation CD but this time without the HARD disc logically.
So I thought that the HARD drive is broken and I put it in my desktop PC to test. I installed XP on the drive HARD Satellite in my PC, which worked without problems in my PC. So, I come to the conclusion that the HARD drive is not broken.
And my BIOS Satellite detects my HARD drive and displays the name of it.

But what is the problem with the laptop when it is not the HARD drive and BIOS show the good name of the HARD drive? Can someone help me please?

    Hello

The story is very strange boyfriend generally that the PXE error if the laptop tries to boot from LAN. But in the case where starting LAN source in unavailable, the PXE error appears and shows this message.

Usually, the BIOS passes LAN Boot option because the other options are not active. This means that the CD/DVD drive does not any bootable disk and the HARD disk is dead.

So, as you can see you hypothesis was right that the HARD drive could be faulty

In any case, try to access the BIOS and set it to the default settings save changes and then try to reinstall Windows XP.
You might also try another HARD drive, I know as your fist HDD recognized correctly but it s worth a try to test the 2nd HARD drive.

  • Stuttering problem with Vista on Satellite P100-347 pspA6E games

I lived several forums and tried many solutions, bios downgrade (up to v2.4), different drivers, using the riva to detect as a gt gfx card, but whatever it is I always make the problem of stuttering in vista. I've recently updated the bios to v4, which makes absolutely no difference.

I tried to run the games with the smallest possible settings, but it's the same when I throw them to the highest. Most of the games ran on xp with the downgraded bios, but I paid extra for vista and im im going to use it. My model is a pspA6E, 7900gs 512 MB, 2 GB ram, 200 GB hard drive, running on vista (with patches).

I tried to contact Nvidia also on a snap with no result... So I guess we're stuck with this...

If it's a Direct X driver look or a conflict with the sound and graphic driver I know Don t. But if I uninstall parts of theatre and its pilot games that I still have the same problem. My guess is therefore a pure graphic driver problem.

  • Output SPDIF does not work with the Satellite P100 - 347 (PSPA6E)

Hey guys and girls, firstly want to apologize if this is in the wrong section. I'm kind have mind boggled here, and I can't concentrate properly!

OK, so that's the problem: After owning this notebook for about 3 years, I just found this, it's supposed to be obtained a digital audio output ("Spidf").
If pressed like a rabbit, I went out and bought a mini-TOSlink adapter and used the optical cable of high quality from my sound cinema surround!
So I wack these babies, until I just without result! Selecting DTS in several dvd players, I can't sound through spdif at all. Hell, I don't even optical red poking through, I can't even select spdif in sound properties! I can exclude that it is cable and adapter because it works perfectly in my iMac next to me here.
Does anyone have an answer as to why?
To rule out a question that I'm running Windows XP.

    Thanks guys,.
    Josh

    Hello

    What OS do you have?

First of all, you must update the audio driver.
On the Toshiba driver page, you can find the last being.

Then in Control Panel-> sound, you should check the Read tab.
If you are using Vista, then you must right click and should allow hidden and disabled devices.
Then the new devices should appear. One of the devices must be digital output.
Then you could mark it and could allow it.

  • Satellite P100 - 400 PSPA6A: How can I control the fan speed manually

    Good evening

I would like to know how can I manually control the speed of the fan?
I ask this question because my laptop rarely use the fan at a higher speed.

Today, I listened to more than the normal fan, I have check the temperatures and the CPU was Core1:95ºC Core2:99ºC
I'll clean the fan, but I want to know how can I manually control the fan (of course with the software: P)

    Kind regards.

    Hello

I guess that the Toshiba Power Saver has been installed on your laptop and you use this software from Toshiba.

If you are using Win XP and that the GST is installed, then you can check the configuration of basic settings and you might find the options to control CPU, CPU processing speed and method of cooling.

If you are using Vista, then you should check the Vista Power Options:
Check this thread how to manage Windows Vista power management features
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=38906&TSTART=0

But in most cases, the cooling modules are controlled by fan that is stored in the BIOS table.

  • Satellite P100 - 347 (PSPA6E) - need Display Driver Update

    Hi all

Display drivers on the driver download page has not been updated in ages,
and I want to upgrade to the latest nVidia drivers.

When I try and install drivers from www.nvidia.com, they keep referring me to Toshiba, however,
but the pilot, we have from there is that the version 8.4.0.0.

Someone at - it advice on the way to work around that, and can someone tell me what changes in drivers, Toshiba has occurred since nVidia redirects you instead of just updating the drivers.

The version of windows that came with the laptop is Windows XP MCE

    Thanks in advance

    Jimmi

    Hello

    > Someone at - it advice on how to work around this, and someone can tell me what changes in drivers, Toshiba has occurred since nVidia redirects you instead of just updating the drivers.

The point is that Toshiba own graphics drivers are not the same thing as the original graphic drivers from the card manufacturers.
Own drivers Toshiba are modified and support a thermal protection that helps protect the equipment from overheating.
Why? Because laptops do not have cooling huge modules like office graphics cards and so the pilot must control a part of the heat dissipation!

As far as I know it of possible to install the drivers from the nVidia Web site using the Advanced installation procedure. You can update the driver in Device Manager and could point to the place where the driver has been downloaded.

But note; the use of the graphics driver not Toshiba is only at your own risk and it s not covered by the warranty!

    See you soon

  • After the last update of BIOS that Satellite P100 locks with BSOD

    Hello

Due to several problems meeting with updated Toshiba Satellite P100-221 (PSPA6E) launch second online BIOS updated. I have download and I solve problems with my video card and the race of missing keyboard. After a short period, they put on the update of the BIOS rd page 3 drivers.

I'm trying to find what ever they change with this new update, but I na? t find anything. So I decided to update my BIOS again. Now as a result my system crash very often when I quit & restart my computer (blue screen).

Microsoft advised me to reduce the video acceleration for video adjustment.
Maybe can someone explain to me why I have this problem?
I use the same drivers and software same as in the second update
I can find BIOS previous to rewrite again, because this one works very well with my laptop?

    Thank you!

    Hi Sebasian

I use very long books and I've never updated the BIOS if not necessary. What laptop works well, OS stabile, why should I do it? I don t care if new BIOS update is available or not. I've always been skeptical about the updates to the BIOS. That's just my opinion.

As far as I know, it is not possible to downgrade the version of the BIOS without special tools and it can be done by service partners. It is not easy to tell if the BIOS is responsible for this, but if possible, try to send us illustrated if BSOD errors.

If I were you I backup all important data and reinstall the recovery image, configure OS for my needs, and make sure that everything is clean pre-installed. My experience with BSOD were always related software.

    I have the Satellite P100-221 (PSPA6E-013010RU).
There is a new update for nVidia 7900GS card driver available (8.4.0.0, 27/07/06) in the Russian section of www.toshiba.com.

But the number is still 8.4.0.0, as it was before.
Do you mean the driver has not been modified too much, or is it a new revision?

    Thank you

    Hello

Satellite P100 is a very recent laptop right now and the drivers have to be to date. In this case, I think that the drivers on the Toshiba page are even similar on your laptop. The date indicates only the version on the page.

Anyway, you should always check the numbers of versions of drivers and compare until you install it on the device.
Maybe the drivers are preinstalled and you don't need to reinstall the same version.
