Satellite P100: Cache hinge cracks

Jeffrey said technicians replaced a thing inside the cover, and then all was fine.
I should like to know what they did, so that I can ask the same thing!
Coverage on my P100 has been changed twice already but has yet again in the same place, with the left hinge, after very little use.

Hi David

I assume you mean this thread:
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/message.jspa?MessageID=106406#106406

The don t cracks appear after the replacement of the new coverage. I put t know exactly what they were doing, but I assume that they used the new cover design. The area near the hinges must be firmer. You should simply ask ASP for replacement again.

Best regards and happy new year! :)

Since the purchase of my Satellite P100-188, I was happy with the way it works, but had to send it the Tech, through PC World guys, because the orange case on the screen continuously develops cracks around the joints of the hinge. I'm about to send it back for a 3rd time and I was wondering if someone else had also encountered this problem?

Cracks develop in many more large cracks in a relatively short time. I use my laptop on a daily basis, when I get home from work, is not as if it is used throughout the day and after having spent over A £1000 on that I'm not about to start abusing her.

If someone managed to get a result of Toshiba please get in touch with me?

    Hi Clive

The same cracks appear on my notebook of s to a friend.
He simply made contact with the authorized service provider, and the shift has been replaced!

Why do you want results? I think the free replacement of the cover is a very good solution.
Simply contact the ASP in your country and you enjoy life B-)

  • Cover of split near the hinges on Satellite P100

Cover orange on my Satellite P100 guard split by hinges, even if I now have to take great care to open and close the lid. Toshiba have replaced under warranty.

I think the hinge friction is too strong for the coverage. Someone at - it a similar problem and if yes what can we do?

It seems unnecessary to keep just replace the cover every time.

One of my friends sent the laptop to replace the top cover and everything was done for free! The warranty covered replacing.
Technicians of the ASP has changed the defective part and said that the new top cover has been used seems they have changed something on the cover of proximity to the hinges, because so far everything is ok

    Happy new year :)

  • Satellite P100: cover orange keeps cracking

    Hi all

The problem I have is on top of the orange cover, in the corners of the hinge, cracking constantly. She has had 2 replacement lids and now the third party did the same. The last time it was being repaired. The service center had for more than a month, just to replace the cover.
Other problems I had PCMCIA port range does not, so he returned for a new motherboard and keyboard, (had a problem with keystrokes)

Oh and just yesterday the 0 has stopped working on the numeric keypad.

What do you think I should do (except put it on ebay)?

    I completely agree with Garrett.

A few words on the long repair time a long time ago that I send my laptop for repair. Everything was resolved and since then everything is ok
I waited as 4 weeks for my laptop but the technician of my country told me that the motherboard was out of stock and it must order it directly from the head stock Toshiba. It takes about 3-4 weeks...
I think the repair time depends on the part to be replaced and the availability of part it's ok...

  • How to get 5.1 sound on Satellite P100-286

I had to replace my old P100-347 of 2 months, because of cracks on the hinge. The only model they had available was the P100-286. It is almost identical, except one thing, that I was not informed until I got it home and so too late to resume.

Basically, the P100-347 had a SPDIF port and the 286 (as far as I can see), does not work. So, what I want to know is, what kind of sound that I am able to get the decision-making helmet.

I plugged my Dolby Digital amp, and everything seems to be able to get is 2 audio channels, when I would be able to get 5.1 channels... In fact, I would like to have SPDIF, but don't think it will happen.

Can someone advise and give me some advice on solving this.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

On the Satellite P100-286 S/PDIF port is not available and if you want to have 5.1 surround sound you need to use an external solution connected to the USB port. Google around. You will find quite different products, that you can use with your laptop.

  • Fractures of fatigue on the Satellite P100-423

    Hi all

This is my first post here.
The hinges on my Satellite P100-423 have always been fairly rigid. Thus fractures of stress now appeared on the back of the lid near the hinges.
I bought in Nov/06 and it seems to be now out of warranty.
I would appreciate any advice on what I can do about it or how to get it fixed.

I totally agree with codes for the ASP must replace it and I think that this plastic cover should t be too expensive.

If you n t know how to communicate with ASP, then please check this database:

He sent me some 46 frames per second, with 2 GB ddr 533.

    Then I put the Satellite P100 - 188 T2400 T2500 or T2600 CPU and can I use ddr2 667 mhz Ram?

Any suggestions how much performance increase if you upgrade hard drive 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM with 8 MB of cache?

    Thank you

    Hello

The CPU cannot be replaced. But you can expand the memory with the modules:
    PA3499U - 1 M 25 (Kit of memory 256 Mo DDR2-667)
    PA3511U - 1 M 51 (Kit of memory 512 MB DDR2-667)
    PA3512U-1M1G(DDR2-667 1GB Memory Kit)
    PA3513U-1M2G(DDR2-667 2GB Memory Kit)

    DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
    1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)

The maximum memory that you can use this camera is 4 GB.

As you can see the BIOS, see the two sticks of 2 GB, but it also shows that the BIOS supports only 3 GB of RAM? Would it not possible to Flash my motherboard with the firmware of another model of laptop computer? Or is there a BIOS update in the near future that will allow me to make use of my full 4 GB of RAM?

    Hello

Normally, the Satellite P100-160 supports 4 GB of RAM. If you check the user manual, you can find this information it can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM with two 2 GB memory modules.

Just a question: how much will be shown in the BIOS directly? He acknowledges the full 4 GB of RAM?

And don t forget you can only use 4 GB of RAM with a 64 bit OS. If you use 32-bit OS, you can only use up to 3.2 GB of RAM.
Have you installed Linux 64-bit version?

  • Satellite P100-160 refuses to connect to my router 3Com with WPA - PSK

Help! My new laptop Toshiba refuses to connect to my router 3Com (f/w 2.06T13) model 3cWDR100A on WPA - PSK. The router only supports TKIP (no AES).

The laptop, a Satellite P100-160 is under Vista Home Premium with the latest Intel 3945 11.5.0.32 driver and I tried the version of the site Web of Toshiba version mentioned in other threads (and a few other versions also).

Either way, I don't like latest driver hit with content identical binary files and different date stamps or running of the anonymous installers that have not been digitally signed.

The problem is that non-encrypted, or WEP works perfectly, but WPA - PSK is not. It fails with a diagnostic message 'timeout for secondary keys. The thing will be very occasionally connect to the network without a timeout (before I tried to improve things with the last pilot about 1 in 20 attempts after a reboot, now it comes rather from 1 to 100). If I can be sure that the password is correct. When it connects everything is fine and stable with excellent signal until the first suspended and then the connection is lost. It's more than a little irritating.

I see several topics of doom similar networks to Vista support groups. They all seem to hinge around WPA - PSK TKIP and WiFi Intel chipset x 945 in combination with certain models of router. Please can anyone help solve this mess?

I've seen other threads of networking in Vista by users with this specific Intel chipset and my router model having exactly the same problem and so far nobody has found a solution. I checked the basics of knowledge (MS & 3Com) and tried a few plausible fixes, but nothing helped. I'm out of ideas.

It seems a little absurd to demote network security to make the latest PC works correctly. Dumping Vista (however tempting) is not an option.

Thanks for any suggestions or diagnostics.

    Kind regards
    Martin Brown

    Hello Martin

As you can see this is not Toshiba specific stuff and if there is no 'global solution' I don't really know what Toshiba should do about it. As you all know it should support hardware and software (driver), but if not I don't really see a solution for this.
Who should offer a solution? Toshiba or Intel?  :|

  • Satellite P100: Crackling sound with Vista Ultimate 32 bit

Hello, I have a problem with the sound card. As initially also under Windows XP, fixed by a patch, I now have this new cracked also Vista in sound.

Excuse my English, I translated it with Babylon.

    Hello

There are many different Satellite P100 with the specifications of the sound chip series.
I would be very interesting to know the name of laptop exactly; P100-XXX

Anyway, generally update the audio driver should help get rid of the crackling sound!

  • Satellite P100-160 vertical stripes on screen

My Toshiba Satellite P100 2 years suddenly developed a white vertical wide band of 4 cm on the screen (17 inches) one morning, covering the taskbar.
A few days later and I had other vertical stripes, a black, multicolor, which sometimes change color.

The laptop is now practically unusable.

    See photo at http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVRI_6i

I have connected the VGA output to another monitor, and there is no tape.
I also unplugged then replugged the cable below the left hinge and no difference.

If this requires a new screen, it would be probably cheaper to buy a new laptop.
But is it possible that it's just a problem for cable or contact?
    Or how a UPS fails?

    All advice appreciated.
    Jim

    > I have connected the VGA output to another monitor and there is no tape.
This means that your graphics card is OK, but the s display malfunction internal for laptop.
    That s in my opinion.

You are right. Replacing the screen is not cheap the screen and the motherboard are the more expensive parts of laptop and a new screen would cost about 300Euros.

If your warranty is the replacement must be done for free. But if it s not valid, then you will have to pay for it.

It would be your own decision what to do and the decision is not easy

  • Re: Satellite P100-160 - is there a Wireless N card?

    Hello

is there a WIFI Wireless N card which you can adapt the P100-160?

    Anyone know?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

I have of course there are a lot of network WIRELESS n draft cards they will be insert in Satellite P100, but I think that you will not be able to use the draft N speed because need you so 3 instead of 2 m antennas.

It s doesn't know only not for me that some Satellite P100 has been bundled with the project so I m sure that 2 antennas are not installed.
With other words, it would be useless if you upgrade project ;) WIRELESS n network adapter

  • Pascal boot from a DVD on my Satellite P100

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100. I want to boot on a DVD. When the computer starts, the screen goes from black to the Welcome to windows screen, and there is no message that indicates which key to press to access the boot menu. I tried to press F2 or F12, but if I do the screen remains black and that windows won't even start. F1 or F10 or del have no effect. ESC for 5 seconds, either.

A few weeks ago (I did not any changes in bios or anything like that, what I did is updated on windows), I had a white line that says press key (F12), but now this is not more. I don't even have the toshiba logo.

I flashed the BIOS with the latest update, with no result.

Edit: I have new intel: since the problem seems to come from the screen (some keys (F2, F12) 'work' in the sense it does something special, rather than just logging on to windows and this unusual thing they do is to make the screen stay black - as if the screen wasn't turned on yet, but the computer was waiting for a response from the user) I tried to connect my laptop to another screen. I have counfounded the vga cable ends and ends by connecting my laptop to a desktop instead of his screen. The result of this was rather strange: when my laptop is connected to a desktop computer, the laptop screen is lit normally, and I see the toshiba logo and the boot/bios menu shortcuts. Other that taking the power of the display, the connection had obviously no effect: I don't see the content of the desktop on my laptop, I just saw my laptop because I usually do, and it's because the vga port is usually intended to be connected to another screen and not to another computer.

So what do you think about this experience, which is certainly interesting, and you now see what could be my problem and so how to fix?

    Thank you.

PS: If you have more questions/details, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Hello John

To be honest, I wish I had your laptop in front of me and see exactly what is happening.
Is that this message be down occurs when the cell is on a regular basis down. If the laptop wakes mode sleep or hibernation, this message will not appear.

So I m pretty confused with all this and can not understand what is happening exactly.
When the operating system is loaded click please Windows Start button and choose the option closed and don't forget the laptop shut down correctly

After doing this book for beginning and check how it looks like new. Please post comments.

  • Satellite P100-423 - RTC battery replacement

I'm happy enough to replace the CMOS / RTC on Satellite P100-423 battery because the device is out of warranty and the battery needs to be replaced.
Le-423 is a build of Costco and not much found after the mandatory, manual Google and research forum.

Can anyone recommend a type satisfying to do this, no clue on the former.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Are you sure that the RTC battery is replaceable?
I ask this question because as much as I know it is not possible on all s models and if it is replaceable you can find the specs on the battery itself if you disassemble the laptop.

Normally, this battery can be charged if you leave the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours. Have you already tried?

  • Satellite P100-307 - massive heat problem, keypad heater

Had my Satellite P100-307 for almost two years now and it's a good and useful media-notebook, but it never HOT side left keyboard, especially games.

But in recent weeks, the keyboard is pretty HOT and I don't know why! Because I6vgt ´m using only low level applications.

I did a full restore to clean any virus or other malware, but it continues to get hot, as if I where in the highest graphics modes, the games, but just I m using IE7 and a LateX editor for the creation of PDF Documents - that s nothing for a dual-core processor! Kaspersky 7.0 has been throtteld down, as far as the security is allwoing it.

So why it s heat like that in 30 to 60 Minutes. He has never done this before, I m sure.

It s so hot, it's quite unpleasant to work with her, because placing even the heel of your hand next to the touchpad makes my hand sweating!

Looks like the laptop is overheated, it is a common problem with laptops that are used in a dusty environment (a room with carpet, for example).

Buy compressed air in a box and spray it in the vents to remove dust.
