Satellite P20: Screen no longer works

Hello world

Well, my beloved P20 screen has passed away. I can attach an external monitor, but this is not the point.

I only bought it in December 2003. I took to the local repair center Toshiba to Singapore and told me the following:-

(1) at least $150 to diagnose the problem (GBP50)
(2) problem was a bad screen or a bad graphics card. Or the other solution would end by cost me around $1,000.
(3) "I did pretty well, because the screens are only scheduled to last 3 years anyway". "."

Stunned by the last comment.

I'm thinking now just hang my P20 to my TV and use it as an MCE machine.

All the world run into a similar experience?

What to say Richard Wray I can t tell a lot about the experience on the P20 because I m not an owner but such things happens.
Not only on the P20 but it may happens on every laptop
This is why I advise you to always buy an extended warranty
but you laptop is 4 years in such a case, that the extended warranty would not help

  • Satellite S50t-B touch screen no longer works

    Hello

My partner bought a S50t-B Satellite probably 5-6 months and everything worked perfectly, until she had a few updates to windows that has happened, and now the touch HID compatible drivers are apparently disabled in Device Manager?

The touch screen no longer works, and I've pretty much exhausted all the options I could think.

I tried to reinstall windows, apply all updates via the service center, I can't find the drivers for the touch screen on the support Web site downloads section and the bios etc is all to date.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on how to proceed with this issue, since the main reason, she bought there the touch screen function.

    Thanks, Keegan

I don't have any idea what system you have installed, but if the laptop was equipped with touch screen, additional drivers for touchscreen are not necessary.
If touch screen is working properly, the Windows (Win 8.1) should detect it automatically.

What Satellite S50t-B-ooo do you excatly?
From my point of few, the laptop must be set to settings factory just to check if its really a software related issue... so I wonder why you do not use HARD drive recovery or recovery media to restore the laptop to factory settings?

  • Satellite T130-screen black-HDMI works perfectly

The problem started as an HDMI cable is plugged on my Satellite T130-17F operation and the display was closed. That point laptop screen no longer works. When starting windows logo start is enabled for a few seconds, just before the entrance to the office, the cursor is visible on the screen. But except for those brief moments there is no action on the screen of laptop computers. When I reinstalled the driver for the graphics card there was times short (less than 0.5 sec) when the screen was active.

I can use the laptop without any problems via HDMI to my TV. And when I adjust the brightness of the screen (FN + F6/F7) the black can get more back-lit.

When I disable the HDMI output or plugs out - nothing happens on the screen of laptop computers.

Some of you can please help me out because I really need my phone to work normal again. If you can help me solve this problem, I'll be very grateful-

    Kind regards
    Jacob Lindberg

    Hello Jacob

Start your laptop with an HDMI cable and wait until windows has finished loading. When you see the desktop on the TV use the FN + F5 key combination and tilt the back of the LCD screen.

    Can you do this?
    It work?

  • Satellite M70: Battery no longer works

My brand-new satellite M70 battery no longer works. I haven't used the phone for about a week and when I tried to start it (on drums), he did nothing. The battery was still charged (63%) I need to connect the power adapter to make it work.

During this time the battery LED is still orange. Battery is not charging, the battery remains at 63%. I tried to remove the battery for a while and put it in, but that does not change...

How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

Maybe the battery has a malfunction. It would be very interesting to know if this problem occurs after the replacement of the battery.
According to your assignment the guarantee must be valid, that the battery replacement should be done for free.
I recommend to contact Toshiba service partner in your country and seek help guys.

  • Satellite M70 - screen does not work properly

    Hello world

My screen on the laptop does not work correctly. He sometimes starts to white and becomes inadmissible. I followed the problem down, I think of what I can only describe as a fluorescent light ballast in the upper left of the screen (when looking from the front). If I use a clothes pin and apply steady pressure in the upper left corner, it is achievable. That is to say I can still use it.

    But barely.

When disassemble the screen there is a kind of metal plate on the side of the screen and there is a part called electw f-1 94v-0 coming in contact with this piece of metal. My guess is that the two pieces have shorted or well have become loose such as tightening this part of the screen made it work again. There are discolorations burned on the piece of metal and the underlying aluminum backup that spans the entire screen. There is also a very slight discoloration burned on the play in question also.

But as I said that the screen still works if I apply the necessary pressure in the upper left corner (currently with a clothes PIN).

I have no money and cannot pay to have this problem so I have to come with an eraser he togetether solution myself or end without a laptop.

What is this part? Part of 94v-0 f - 1 of the Electw? It is manufactured by Tyco Electronics, but in a search on their site I could not find it. And Googling shows up nothing important. There are two of these parties behind the screen on my Toshiba. The one on the right and one on the left.

They are sodered to two sons, one black and one white that goes down to the area of FL Inverter.

I know it's a long shot, but I wonder what that these pieces don't and if there is no hope for a temporary solution that will alleviate me of having to use a clothes pin in the upper left corner of the screen to get the screen to work. Perhaps by folding the parts to better contact with this or that. I tried to move a party earlier that helped a little but not much.

It's got so bad that it sparkles now... a little constantly. Very annoying. But... still usable.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Carlos

If the part is attached to the screen, then you will need to replace the LCD screen, or ask someone to fix it if possible.

You can not buy the different parts of a strainer.

If you are referring to the wiring harness/LCD screen, then you can buy a replacement at a cheap price. They are not expensive.

  • Satellite M30X: Screen doesn't work after sleep mode

I own Satellite M30X (model) after I left the laptop on while awhile, the computer went on standby to fashion. When I turned it on, the screen does not work, everything else is ok. I use the external monitor to the laptop. Everything seems to be in the order outside the screen. I did a system recovery and still the same problem. I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem.

I know the screen works, because you can see roughly. It seems to me that the screen is always on standby.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

  • Satellite L300 webcam no longer works after upgrade to Windows 7

I upgraded from Win Vista to Win 7 and my webcam no longer works.
He said that there is an error. On the support page, it is said that this model is not intended for Win7, so I installed Win Vista drivers.
Because the driver for Win7 is not available, the link is down. http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/webcam-20091013162352.zip

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

For me, it seems that you have not installed the right webcam software and so you can't get the webcam works with installed Win 7.

Have what version of Win7 you installed? 32-bit or 64-bit?
European driver Toshiba page provides the software of webcam for Win 7 32 bit for Satellite L300
    It s version 1.1.1.4.

I found this choose: laptop Satellite L300 webcam driver satellite
In such cases you will get listed all drivers webcam L300 series

  • Satellite C55 - Touchpad no longer works

    Hello

The touchpad on my C55 no longer works.

After you restart the touchpad works until I signon to Windows. After this, all functions will stop.

A few days ago, I think that some Windows updates have been launched.

Is that what someone else has had this problem and can you give me a solution please?

In addition, immediately after the entrance to Windows, it works always, but after a while, he stops. This rings a Bell?

The driver for the touchpad seems to be ok.

  • Satellite A100 - screen has stopped working

    Hello

yesterday in vista, he said that he detected an external monitor, even if I never used any external monitor to my laptop. In display properties, he said I had several monitors and in Device Manager it says that I had a pnp and a monitor not Plug-and-Play...

The screen has stopped working after a reboot. I see nothing on the screen during the loading process indicating normally the toshiba and the vista loading screen. But once vista has started (the sound still works), the screen works again.

This has me worried and I reinstalled vista from the cd, but now the screen never... never.
But I know that vista has been correctly installed that after what he asked, can I still use alt + f4 and enter to stop.

Well, I can't even make troubleshooting procedures on my own that never, the screen now works. -.-
Does anyone have experience with this?

    Hello

I've never heard of such question it s so very interesting to hear about this issue. Given that you never connected an external monitor, it must be something else...
Did you ever done some update the BIOS on this machine?

Maybe, if you have some, this could be the problem. Otherwise, I have a work around (it could be useful):

Remove the AC adapter and the battery from the machine and leave the machine for some time (1-2 hours). Then, start the machine and check if it works.

If this isn't the case, then you must send your machine to the service since it could be a serious hardware problem (I mean if you really reinstalled vista and problems persist after the reinstallation, then it IS definitely a hardware problem).

You can also try some update BIOS if it is not already done...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A300 - screen doesn't work sometimes

OK so first of all, I wish to begin by saying that I am a complete noob when it comes to computers and also my native language isn't English, but I'll try my best to make you understand my problem.

Sometimes, when I try to turn on my laptop, the screen will not work. I hear the fan turns, the little lights on the keyboard light up, but the screen remains black... what happened for like 3 days until today, I came home and it worked magically. It is this same as there is a month... What is happening? : s

On this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis.
What we do here is nothing else possible speculations about the reasons.

A300 is not the most recent model, so there may be a problem with the connection between the motherboard and the display.
Next time when this happens, try to move the screen or gently press the laptop under the screen just to see if this will help or not.

In the end, I must say that single service can help you with this. With other words, they can disassemble the laptop and check the display cable.

  • has dropped iPhone 5s: touch screen no longer works

I recently left falling m 5s iPhone and when I pressed the home button to turn on, I noticed a horizontal row of white squares to the bottom of the screen and a big white vertical line near the right side. There was also a lot of other smaller lines, and the screen was very low. The touch screen does not work, but the locking buttons and the House doesn't. I got two downs to restart, but when the logo first appeared, the touchscreen still does not work.

It can be hardware related to your local Genuis Bar or the service provider authorized Apple. -AJ

    Hello

Go to the control panel (Windows key + X-> Control Panel)-> Tablet PC setting.
The first display tab contains options such as configure screen stylus and touchscreen.
Here, you should be able to start the installation program and identify the touchscreen.
The first option must contain 1 internal LCD
At the bottom, you might find button to calibrate and reset the settings for the internal LCD.

If this does not work, the problem might be related to a hardware malfunction.
In this case, only a technician would be able to help you.
