  I put t know if this is a solution but try my proposal:

  I have problem with Toshiba Power Saver (GST).
  I installed SP2 on my WinXP Pro, and after this operation, all works well. After a few days GST on icon disappear from the task bar. When I open the Console from Toshiba, then GST I can see only incomlete standard dialog box. There is no configuration icons, but initially were, and I set all the settings. Now, there are 4 black boxes (2 small as a small icon) and 2 large as icon bigest at the bottom and a large black on the right.
  I try to reinstal GST, but it had no effect.

  I have never seen anything like it. There is obviously some problems that doesn t allow the graphic illustration of the ATP. The first step is always reinstalling the software.   When you download stuff on toshiba Web sites you will have to keep an eye on the version on your machine (for example the Satellite A100 - 552-> download software of type '552' of the Satellite A100 series).

  I have a Satellite P200 series PC laptop and have recently updated from the 200 GB for a pair or 320 GB HARD drive. No problem

  The question I have is that the old drive of 200 GB system I am unable to use it in any other machine or according to and external storage device.

  First of all you shouldn't t believe everything say this as some computer beginners.
  It s NOT a BIOS issue.

  Your HARD drive is not visible during the installation of Win XP because the SATA driver was not included!
  The laptop supports the SATA controller and a SATA driver must be included in Win XP to recognize the HARD drive!

  But I don t want to write the whole story again that this issue has been addressed 1000 times here in the forum. I recommend this forum a little bit and search for similar topics regarding the installation of Win XP.

  A hint; Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA driver ;)

  In Vista, there is no Toshiba Power Saver as under WXP and now many parameters have been taken on Vista power settings. With other words Toshiba Power Saver is not like in the version of Windows XP Home edition. The Toshiba Power Saver is now part of the package of added value.

  Is this OK to uninstall the saving of a SP6100 v5.04 as it doesn't seem to work properly or at all?

  I already check and change the BIOS v1.90 also accordingly power settings, but the machine still never power off of the hard drive and will go to standby sleep.

  The only things kind of work are the screensaver and power of the large screen, but very rarely according to the time where the settings...

  I m wondering really the Power Saver doesn t work well on your laptop. This tool is one of the best tools designed Toshiba and it is very useful if you want to optimize laptop power consumption.

  I don't really know what the problem is here, but if you are not satisfied you can remove it from the system or simply use different power plan in power options properties.
  Maybe you should try to reinstall energy saver.

  Have you noticed another problem with your SP 6100?
