Satellite P30 - screen got vertical stripes

Hello!

Two problems:

1. my Satellite P30 becomes a little old (bought in 2005), I know, but it works really well - a few hiccups of course.
However, the lines of different colors appear vertically on the screen. It started with a single line of a few months ago and right there are now seven (10 at the most).
The odd bit is that they appear, disappear, and reappear - some more often than others.
I find it quite strange, and I wonder if the problem is the screen itself or if it is a motherboard / other hardware or a software problem.

2. commissioning is slow lane. Suddenly, there is (before tha line problem described above) about four months something has changed in the startup routine.
Before, when the "Welcome" message was shown, the screen became blavk for a second, and office appeared with the bar of tasks and shortcuts emediately. As usual.
But some time back the time according to 'Welcome' to the desktop was OK, changed its jst a fww seconds to THREE minutes! I checked my pc for all known problems, but nothing! What is going on? The image of the desktop appears, and then three minutes before the taskbar and icons appear.

Can someone help me?

Best regards, Lars of the Norway

(1) what are the lines? If these are lines of pixels, and the lines are spaced randomly, its most likely a LCD issue.

(2) download and run BootVis. This small utility from Microsoft saves driver delays and other things during the startup.

  • vertical stripes of white screen iMac

I was using my iMac yesterday as usual. Surfing the internet, listening to music via iTunes when suddenly the screen 'glitched '. I got vertical stripes on the screen, the image was broken up and I couldn't communicate with anything. I restarted the iMac and he still had vertical stripes on the screen. I could see the Apple icon and loading bar which has been duplicated/broken upwards on the screen. Once the loading/progress bar has reached 100%, I just got a blank screen. I had to go out and when I came back 5 hours later the iMac has always had the same problem.

    Some of the things I've tried are;

1 leaving it unplugged for a few hours, all reconnect and start the system again (pious).

    2. hold the CMD + SHIFT + R + P after turning the iMac on and then by running the disk on the iMac HD utility. I get a message "this disc needs to be repaired" but unfortunately after clicking on "Repair disk" the slopes of tools a bit before telling me "Disk utility can't repair this disk" (screenshot attached).

I'll try to 'Reinstall Mac OS X' for Mac OS X utility (CMD + SHIFT + R + P), but he told me I couldn't because I was not connected to the internet? I was also worried that it might delete all my files?

Most importantly, I want to do is retrieve the files on the hard drive. I hope that it is possible, although I can't on the desktop, that it looks like I can access the drive in the disc utilities. I heard that I might be able to connect a macbook to the damaged iMac and get the files on it like that? Is it feasible using a Firewire cable?

Cheers, hope someone can share some tips.

  • Tecra 8100: vertical stripes on the screen

I just bought a second hand Tecra 8100, who has been stripped of all its programs, OS. So I installed Windows98SE on this - now I get a screen with vertical stripes, which perch in the middle of the screen of the laptop with Windows just about visible in the background.

I went to the display driver Toshiba and downloaded Web pages relevant windows 98se. Once on my laptop, the exe file does nothing; is neither their "graphics card" option in my device manager - everyone has ideas as to what is happening?

    Hello

Please connect external monitor to your laptop and check if the result is the same. If so, there is probably a problem with the graphics card. If this isn't the case, I presume your laptop LCD screen is defective.

  • Vertical lines and darker screen on Satellite P30-109

    Hello

I have a Satellite P30-109 running on Windows XP... But my screen is slowly becoming bad. It's getting vertical lines from the top of the screen down. In addition, the colors are much darker than before.

But when I plug in an external display, there is no problem. So I do not think that the video card problem? He spent the period of warranty.

    TNX

    Haris

You are right; If the same question doesn't appear on the external monitor then it s certainly not a GPU problem!

I think it might be a problem with the LCD itself or with the small role as a FL inverter.
I think you should communicate with ASP in your county for a check.

Maybe if you're a lucky man, only the small part malfunctions and the replacement wouldn t be expensive.

    Good luck

  • Satellite P100-160 vertical stripes on screen

My Toshiba Satellite P100 2 years suddenly developed a white vertical wide band of 4 cm on the screen (17 inches) one morning, covering the taskbar.

I have connected the VGA output to another monitor, and there is no tape.
I also unplugged then replugged the cable below the left hinge and no difference.

If this requires a new screen, it would be probably cheaper to buy a new laptop.
But is it possible that it's just a problem for cable or contact?
    Or how a UPS fails?

    All advice appreciated.
    Jim

    > I have connected the VGA output to another monitor and there is no tape.
This means that your graphics card is OK, but the s display malfunction internal for laptop.
    That s in my opinion.

You are right. Replacing the screen is not cheap the screen and the motherboard are the more expensive parts of laptop and a new screen would cost about 300Euros.

If your warranty is the replacement must be done for free. But if it s not valid, then you will have to pay for it.

It would be your own decision what to do and the decision is not easy

  • Satellite P30 - three vertical lines appeared on the screen

    Hello

These problems usually occur due to a malfunction of the equipment.
But have you tried to update the graphics driver. If this isn't the case, so I recommend to do.
The update may solve some problems.

However, if vertical lines persists then you should ask Toshiba service for assistance.
    He must check the laptop.

  • Blue and green vertical stripes on the screen

    Hello!

My laptop (about 2.5 years lol) overheated and then stop. When I tried to reboot, I get blue and green vertical stripes running through the screen (instead of the part of connection appears) and then the screen turns black.

It works fine in Safe Mode and when I tried running a Ubuntu Live CD, it starts and the colors were very good and there is no odd scratches. It seems that I only get scratches when I try to start in Windows, in normal mode.

I hooked another monitor and got the same lines across the screen, so I guess that is not a problem of display... I tried to reinstall the nvidia driver which I redownloaded the Toshiba site, while I was in safe mode, but it still does not.

    Can someone help me, please?

    > I have hooked to another monitor and got the same order of ideas that cross the screen, so I guess that it is not a screen problem
It is of course graphics card problem and it should be replaced. :(

The laptop can not load Windows XP at all. Do you have an idea of what's going on?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

It looks like a hardware problem. You should check the RAM and HARD drive.

    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test, you can test your HARD drive. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. You can then the HARD drive.
On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.

    http://Memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. Here, you can also download a CD image.
It s easy to use. Run the test of 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.

    Good luck!

  • Tecra M2: vertical stripes on the screen!

I have a laptop Tecra M2, which (to this day) starts with a display of colorful vertical stripes that gradually change color and width over time - trippy!
The laptop is password protected, and I can always connect (although can't see what I'm doing).

So it seems to be a screen rather than a computer problem or a software problem. Any ideas how I can get rid of the scratches?
Or I am looking to buy a new screen to the laptop?
    See you soon.

    Hello

Have you tried to connect the external display of notebook o? Not?
Do it and check if scratches appear on the external monitor.
If the lines do not appear on the second monitor, the screen of the laptop or one piece is malfunctioning. But it must be a graphics card problem.

But if scratches appear on the second monitor there must be a card problem.
However, it seems that it s a hardware problem and you will need to ask a technician for assistance because I put t think you will be able to fix it yourself

Chain is quite right. If the same thing happens on an external device there is problem with the video card and probably the whole motherboard must be exchanged.

    Thanks in advance. Steve.

    Hello!

Press FN + F5 to switch between monitors.
Check if you have the same problem on startup and in the BIOS.

  • Satellite P30-145: White Rectangle on screen

I have a Toshiba Satellite P30-145, and he has recently developed a problem with the display. Whenever the computer is turned on, there is a large white rectangle covering part of the screen from top to bottom.

Stopping and restarting the computer didn't help, display settings settings I tried did not work and a system restore did not work.

I think it's maybe a problem of overheating the computer often becomes very hot and sometimes stops due to overheating (even if fans don't seem to be blocked when this happens).

Anyone know what could be the problem and if it can be fixed?

    Hello

I think that the fault of the graphics card might be the problem
Maybe the GPU damaged because the temperature inside the laptop.
As you say the laptop is overheating and it is really possible that it was a reason for that matter.

In my opinion, you need to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if the same will appear on the second screen.
If you're going to see the same rectangle on the screen then the graphics card is damage and the entire motherboard must be replaced

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated

  • Equium L20 - vertical strip of 2 inches of distortion of color on the display screen

I've had this laptop since January this year. He returned to the store for repairs because the battery is charging and when they were finally returned to us but now there a thick vertical stripe of color which varies from blue to orange to pink and changes the color of any text written in it. Recently, there is another vertical band that comes and goes across the screen.

If anyone can help... I don't want to have to send it away again for repairs.

    Thank you

    Hello

I don t think you will be able to resolve this question of the vertical line.
In my opinion the only thing you could do is the procedure of updating the graphics driver.
For other procedures, you need to remove the covers and this would disable the guarantee.
That's why I put t recommend this doing.

I think that if the warranty is valid, then you should ask the Toshiba service partner in your country for the control of the laptop. All repairs and replacement are covered by the warranty.
