Satellite P300 - numlock is malfunctioning

I have a laptop with a keypad.

When I turn the numlock on the numeric keypad works, but when I push the * m, j, k, l, i, o, p * I also get the pavement.
The laptop model is a Satellite P300-116 with windows Vista 32-bit.
How can I solve this problem?

Hello

Are you running the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows?
Please check this on the factory settings and the keyboard layout in the Panel.

Also, make sure that you use the latest version of the BIOS. Here you can check if you have the latest version:

I hope I could help a bit! :)

I have a satellite P300, and my keyboard does not work normally when I lock numlock in order to write the numbers (1, 2, 3...). In all cases (press 'NumLock' locked or not) I can't seem to write the numbers with the keyboard. When the green light is on it nothing happens when I press a key on the keyboard, when the light is off it works normally, I mean it's like the arrows.
    Maybe someone can help me.
    Thank you.

I agree with kody seems that only the authorized service partner can solve this problem that is boring and strange with the keyboard
As far as I know something needs to be updated in the DMI

DMI is stored on the system board, and it contains different information about the machine.

  • Satellite P300 does not load

    Hello.

    I have Toshiba Satellite P300. It's almost 4 years.
However, 3 months ago it started not not to charge the battery. I removed the battery and the computer left only with the adapter.
Now it does not charge to one, I have to wait until electricity or sth will reach a level to start the computer.

So, please help, if anyone has had similar problems or know the reason why and what to do.
Maybe its adapter problem, or something wrong with the connection between the adapter and the pc. I don't know and have no money yet to check it out.

Someone knows what's the problem? Thank you.

    Hello

    These issues can be related to different reasons;
    -AC adapter problem
-Question-motherboard (I especially m thinking to provide electronic problem)

But I don't think it could be malfunction AC adapter because the laptop can lights after either a specific power level reached or laptop can start after a longer time being connected to the power adapter. Is this good?

Well, looks like a mobo problem but it's just a suggestion
The parts must be checked first, before replacing

    Hello AJAX,.

    > How can I make a clear CMOS on Satellite P300 please?
    This is not possible, mate.

You can access the BIOS Setup when you press the F2 key?

If this isn't the case I think that you already have what you can try and it seems to be a serious malfunction of equipment. So I contact nearest authorized maintainer and ask for help. ;)

  • Satellite P300-1 year - Touchpad problem with AC adapter / CC

I have a laptop Satellite P300-1 year and from the beginning (two weeks)
I have a touchpad problem: it will not immediately responsive and the pointer shakes when pressing the key. Very often, it freezes for only one or two seconds.

It's VERY annoying. A USB mouse works perfectly.
I tried to reinstall the drivers of the ALPS, tried Synaptics ones, just try Windows Vista drivers: no way.

Now, I found the reason: this question is present only when the laptop is powered by the AC adapter / CC.
With the battery, the touchpad is perfect.

I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they do not change the AC adapter if I don't mean before a full system restore!
Is it not more simple just try with a new adapter and then only, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?

    Anyone had this same problem?

    > I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they do not change the AC adapter if I don't mean before a full system restore! Is it not more simple just try with a new adapter and then only, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?

The point is that your laptop should be always verified using the Toshiba factory setting.
Why? Because the ASP wants to make sure that this issue is not related to a software problem (compatibility problems with applications 3rd part). Software problems are not covered by the warranty.

In addition the ASP will always recover the laptop before the verification of the pieces of equipment to malfunction. Therefore, you should always back up your data from the HARD disk until you send the laptop to check.

I recommend you to reinstall the operating system using the Toshiba recover disc and then check if the problem appears.
If yes you can contact ASP and could provide all the necessary details for only one technician.

  • Key features enter Enter / digital on Satellite P300

    Hello.

I have a problem with the regular and digital enter key. In Adobe InDesign regular type is used for the paragraph return and numeric enter for senior or page/column/pause. Then... on my Satellite P300 eith a NumLock on both enter key enter key digital work, so there is no return of old Parahraph aircraft.

And with NumLock ON numeric enter key still functions as digital input and regular key enter key doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

    I would try a BIOS update. http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

If this does not work, then you should get an ASP (authorized service provider) to take a look.
I remember reading somewhere that they can use a utility to set the screen size of 17 "which corrects the problems of numeric keypad. However, this utility is available for ASP.

  • My Satellite P300 does not illuminate

My Satellite P300 (PSPC4A - 03Q 018) switched on me unexpectedly while I was playing a game. I noticed he was running a little hot (it was on a level with clear vents office). I checked the time CPU. with the software and it showed levels up to 80 c while just browse Internet and up to 100 C + all playing games.

So I blew the vents with compressed air - no change.

After a little research, I decided to renew the thermal grease. The pulling down of some of the fat has hardened as it seems like a useful exercise. After putting together I have nothing. The only life that I had was a quick flash of the LED AC (the symbol of the plug on the front of the palm rest) when I plugged in, but that's all.

What I've tried so far: I stripped down and everything reinstalled at least three times. This includes the processor, even if I didn't remove it at the beginning when I replaced the thermal grease. I reinstalled all the cables. I tried it with just the battery, just the AC line and at the same time. I tried to remove the RAM chips and put one by one in different locations. I tried to remove the battery and the AC, holding down the power for 30 seconds button line and try again with just the battery, just the AC line and at the same time.

I think I either ESD'ed the card or mother or other component/s but I hope it is something much much painful/cheaper. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

Sounds that something bad happened to your hardware for laptop
Maybe the RAM modules are faulty or the motherboard.
I think that no one here would be able to tell which part is malfunctioning.

What to say; If you n t know what part is affected, so I recommend asking a technician for a short control, I mean it is the best step before buying parts including don t need to be replaced

After the hardware parts have been checked, you can decide what you want to do. sell this laptop faulty or replace parts
But the new motherboard is not cheap...

  • Satellite P300 - overlay of pavement digital full keyboard

    Hello

    I have a PSPC4E Satellite P300 - 13M.

As you may know, this laptop has a numeric keypad on the right side. Since I'll be back the laptop Toshiba, where they replaced the motherboard, i, o, p, k, l, m keys, behave as if they were layering digital for laptops with keyboards smaller, whenever the number lock is enabled.

So, either disable NumLock, but then I can't use the numpad brilliant sideways, or I turn it on, but then I can't type i, o, p, k, l, m.

I found on the internet that Fn + F11 turns the digital overlay, but in my case it turns off just numlock, so the problem of the overlay is fixed, but the keys on the numeric keypad do not give numbers of course :)

The bios is updated. and the problem is definitely not the windows driver, because when I put in a linux liveCD, the problem is still there.

    Does anyone have advice?

Someone else has had this problem, I think that they need to return the laptop to the Service Center and get the updated system information. If I remember correctly, they need to change the size of 17 "screen with a special Toshiba utility.

  • Satellite P300-1GN: greenish tint in the upper left corner of the screen

I recently bought a Satellite P300-1GN, best laptop, I have ever bought!

I booted up one morning to find a greenish hue in the upper left corner of the screen, at first I thought it was a graphics issue, but after looking closely, saw there was a line of crack/straight lines in the screen itself.

Fig 1: [http://onfinite.com/libraries/1506419/600.jpg] sorry for the bad quality, camera phone.

    Photo 2: [http://onfinite.com/libraries/1506420/600.jpg]

Then I had a glance at the back of the laptop to see if there was marks, see if something had been abandoned or struck, but no indication of that.

Now the crack grew, and instead of going down, it goes right through the screen :(

    Photo 3: [http://onfinite.com/libraries/1506421/600.jpg]

Could anyone help as to what could be the cause, and if it is covered by the standard warranty 1 year?

    Hello!

To be honest, I've never seen such a display problem, but for me it seems to be a malfunction of the internal display. Looks like the internal display is broken somehow

I think that in this case you need professional assistance from an authorized service provider. Technicians can check the display and tell you how it happened I think.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

  • Satellite P300 - keyboard going crazy

    Hello!

I have a Satellite P300, and my motherboard broke out weeks.
I picked it back this morning, but since the repair, I have a little problem:

The keyboard has a numeric keypad, separate, which can turn with the NumLock key.
When the num lock is activated (green LED on), by pressing the keyboard give me number; but part of my alphabetical keyboard also gives me number (keys: u, i, o, p, j, k, l, m,...).
This part of the keyboard is supposed to be a keyboard that can be switched on with the Fn key.
As long as I have not any combination of keys + Fn, I can't turn this off.
The only way for me to use my keyboard is to turn it on when I need it and off right after I used it...

    Does anyone have a solution?
    Thank you

Please don't do anything alone, but contact service again and explain the situation.
They MUST check the functionality and give you work well for laptop.
I assume that they made a mistake. Maybe wrong BIOS or something.

You can't do anything. Contact them again.

  • Satellite P300 - on power turns on, but nothing happens on the screen

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite P300-1F0, yesterday it was working fine, I turn it off nothing extraordinary happens.
Although later, when I went to turn on I pressed the power button, but the screen was not working, I tried to connect an external display but nothing showed on this subject, although the power of lights was turned on, the drive CD opened and closed as normally don't and I could hear the fans work.

That I realize windows 7 welcome sounds were not playing even after a few minutes with the laptop turned on and the laser mouse was working only for a few seconds before it shuts down.
It was when I started to believe that this was not a screen problem, but something else.

I have read a few forums and I tried to unplug the power cable, remove the battery, press the power button for 60 seconds and turn it on and it worked, it worked fine, I used the computer for a few hours without any problem.

Today the same problem has occurred, and I tried to set the same way as I did yesterday, hold the power button for 60 seconds, but this time it did not work. I retried it for 3 to 5 times and nothing.
After a few hours, leaving the computer is off, resting, I retried the process and now it worked.
Now I'm afraid to turn off the laptop, because I need a lot of time and patience range to activate.

What could be the problem and how do I solve it?
    Can you help me?

    cumpliments,
    Adriano

    > I have read a few forums and I tried to unplug the power cable, remove the battery, press the power button for 60 seconds and turn it on and it worked, it worked fine, I used the computer for a few hours without any problem.

Yes, this workaround is sometimes useful to bring back the unity of life.

    > What could be the problem and how do I solve it?
It's hard to say what causes this. Satellite P300 is an older model mobile phone, so it is possible that among the pieces of equipment begins to malfunction.
It would be interesting to know if the use of the various modules of RAM would change the functionality of the laptop. If you have compatible RAM modules spare you can test it.

In the worst case, it could be possible that beginning of motherboard laptop malfunction.
It would be the worst case I hope for you that it s not mobo related issue.

PS: Check if your BIOS is up to date. In case this is not the latest version, try to update the BIOS.

  • Cannot start from the CD in my Satellite P300-23F

    Hello

I'm trying to fix the old laptop from my brother. It's a Toshiba satellite p300-23f. The laptop did not work well, so he bought another. I think he might have a problem with the HARD drive, but I'm not sure about this and want to try to format the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

When I start from the disc HARD I have no problem, insiders of OS normally, and I can 'use' laptop. The problem is when I try to boot from the OS CD. I get this message "Media test failure, check cable". I know the CD works, because recently I have instaled the operating system with this CD on another computer. I know that the CD player (not sure if it is called like this, but I think you understand what I mean) also works very well, because I tried different CD and it worked.

I've tried pressing F12 and boot from CD it and also tried to change the BIOS and put the CD in the first place, but it does not work.

No idea what's going on? Is it possible to make it work?

    Stand by.
When Windows is completely loaded, you can use the optical disk drive and it reads all CDs and DVDs?
When you put your Windows Windows installation disc can see the contents of the disc in Windows Explorer?

Maybe you can use the CD but not DVD. check it out please.

  • My Satellite P300 forget sometimes load the video driver

My laptop (Satellite P300) sometimes "forget" to start to load the videodriver.
If the resolution is by default in the Windows startup screen.
No matter what version of Windows I have, all the drivers are up to date.

When I restart for the most part, the problem is solved...

To be honest I never heard of something like that. in recent years, my brother has P300. In the beginning he used with original Vista and 2 years its P300 works with Win7. No problem at all.

I don't know which OS you are using now, but have you tried reinstalling the video driver (display)?
I also hope that you are using driver on Toshiba download page.

  • Install Windows 8 on Satellite P300

As usual rushed in and installed Windows 8 on satellite P300. What error - slow, loss of functionality. How to get back to Vista was preinstalled or is there a way I can fix it to run windows 8.
Processor Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU [email protected] 2.4 GHz, 4.00 (2.99 usable) GB RAM 32-bit system, x 64-based processor.

Satellite P300 is plu laptop comes with Vista, but also supported for Win7. Unfortunately, it is not supported for Win8 so, in my opinion, there is no sense to install Win8 on it.

Win7 works perfectly on this machine so if possible use Win7 on it. in case you want to use original Vista, you must install recovery using recovery DVD image. This way only to s to have factory settings once again.

The question is: do you have the recovery disk?

  • Satellite P300-161 - graphic upgrade

Hello. The graphics maintains not on my Toshiba Satellite P300-161 of the same after a clean reinstall of Windows. I'm looking to replace the graphics card from ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3470 (which is not soldered on the motherboard).

Can I rather upgrade or get a new card?

I'm asking this is because I had trouble finding exactly the same everywhere! Thanks in advance.

GPU upgrade is not supported so either you exchange the card or you have to search entire motherboard.
