Satellite P870 - Touchpad scrolling issues
I have a P870 (PSPLFA-019001)
I had trouble with the touchpad. If I move the touchpad no matter where the screen scrolls vertically (not just on the right scroll bar) and the mouse is stationary. When I touch the trackpad under the clickable buttons somehow, it disables scrolling so I can move the mouse.
I went to the control panel mouse options and:
* can't take off vertical scroll [Pic | http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties_zps7d8e2841.png |] PIC] [Pic | http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties_zps7d8e2841.png |] Peak Vertical scrolling]
* handicapped scroll and most of the trackpad gestures. [Pic | http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd152/_Rebeccabec_/MouseProperties2_zps40a5d713.png |] Options disabled]
* I tried F5 to toggle the mouse. no change
I don't know what to do now. Help, please! Also, I uploaded a (bad) video to show you what is happening. It was difficult to show a single hand. [Video link | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MEikPtlgcQ |] Touchpad]
The key is that this issue is resolved. Thanks for the comments.
OK, I have a laptop Satellite L45 and I need help.
The functionality of scrolling on the touchpad worked for awhile and now it will not work.
I've looked throughout the computer and tried everything and nothing seems to work.
I don't really know too much about computers in a first time, and no one I know can help me.
My father had the same problem with his computer, but he says it seems to work himself.
Mine has not yet and it drives me crazy.
If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Have you checked if the touchpad scroll function has been enabled and configured correctly?
I recommend that you check these settings before you to reinstall the driver for the touchpad.
Do you know where to find these parameters?
You can find it in
+ Control Panel-> mouse-> last (device settings) tab-> settings button.
Here, you should check the * virtual scrolling *.
Recently downloaded the Opera browser & find scrolling Synaptics stopped working!
All other functions seem good & scrolling is always fine with MS Explorer
Can someone tell me if this can be fixed?
[Using a Satellite 5200-902]
Also Touchpad light turns off after 5 seconds. [This is normal]
Does anyone know if it is possible to find the code and change it to say 60 seconds?
Any help on the above would be appreciated
I m not sure but I think that Opera explore doesn t support this option.
But if opera supports this option, then perhaps, you must activate only in the opera settings?
But sorry I n t use Solution Explorer and so I can't give you a statement exactly hoe to do.
But play around with the settings or visit some sites support Opera
After that I updated the BIOS (drawn from the Toshiba site), the scroll function stop working. I can still click, move the mouse pointer, but can no longer navigate the touchpad. Relocation of Synaptics driver is not the problem. The strange thing is that the computer detects only my touchpad as standard pointing device (port: PS/2) device. "Graph of pressure" and "Moodpad" function also stop working and complain "this program requires a Synaptics TouchPad, and the Synaptics Pointing device driver.
My computer is Satellite A200 PSAE0C-TR605C.
Anyone know the reason?
What operating system is installled and which is more interesting: what version of BIOS you have installed? Why I ask? Because there are 2 different BIOS versions, one for Vista (1.80) and one for XP (5.20) which means that when you Flash a BIOS XP on a computer with Vista installed then some functions do not work properly as the FN keys or the touchpad.
If please check this out and make sure you have the appropriate BIOS installed.
I have the same problem that a lot of people is faced with (PSAG8E - 05J00TEN Toshiba Satellite A300 - 21H). I'm sure that the touchpad is not disabled.
Clean installation of Windows VISTA - touchpad & keyboard half the time not work half the time. I'm sure this isn't a driver problem (if it doesn't not Device Manager said was a problem with the device..). I already tried 5 different drivers...
I am faced with the question since I bought it... I thought that there could be problem with OS, today I installed UBANTU but face question (Mouse pad stops after some time) with this OS too... I'm sure that its hardware problem not with OS or any driver...
Please can someone is there any solution for this...
I have Satellite A300-1LI and it is also PASG8E but I n t notice a keyboard or touchpad problem. At the beginning I used it with the original image of Vista, but about a year now, I use Windows XP Home edition and Win7 as dual-boot. No problem at all.
If you have noticed this strange problem from day one, why you didn t contacted Toshiba service and asked for help?
I can imagine there is a hardware problem but I put t know what you want to do all alone on this subject. want to trade you the keyboard or the touchpad only.
Replacement of keyboard is not a big problem but the touchpad...
I have P870. The touchpad is huge and is eccentric.
When I hit my thumb naturally touches the touchpad intermittently.
When this happens, you click the pointer of the mouse in a different paragraph (or the same window) and everything what I'm typing in the wrong place.
Is there a tool to reduce the active region of the touchpad?
I would like to turn off about an inch from the left edge - I never use except by accident.
Please check this:
Control Panel-> mouse-> tab advanced-> button Advanced settings
Here in Tablet touch settings click on the set button.
Now go to the inertial movement area and decrease in the movement area.
I think that's what you're looking for
Seem to have a problem with my touchpad.
After about 2 weeks of normal operation, it now only rolls / moves when the left button is pressed.
Had a quick look in the settings but can't seem to get anywhere.
It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Maybe this kind of behavior is the result of defective material.
I recommend reinstalling the operating system using HARD drive recovery option and check again with the factory settings. If the same thing will happen again from the first moment he must be a bad operation of the equipment and in this case, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider.
They can check, repair if necessary and all costs will be covered by the warranty.
My name is Jakerper. I experienced a lot of problems with my touchpad on my fairly new laptop. And Yes, I must admit that it's probably my fault, because I accidentally deleted my original touchpad drivers, thanks to a kind of idiocy temporary-accident, the first thing I did when I got my lappy.
In any case... Bygones.
It is a satellite P870-320. Part No. PSPLFE-01N00XN5.
What has happened is that my touchpad is not responding as I would be. Left and right keys do work, not at all. And am I was able to push my left button (on the keyboard) and drag the files, windows, anything really. Can't change it in the settings of the mouse.
I brandished 8, 64 - bit windows.
I have the synaptics 220.127.116.11 drivers. It is said that the date of these drivers are 2008-08-14, which is not a lot of sense for me, because I reinstalled drivers countless of times and made with the latest drivers found on the synaptics site, but yet once uninstalled, when it did not work either, and instead I left the computer autoinstall drivers instead hopeing that he would find magically good.
This was strange, because when I uninstalled the touchpad drivers, (it is said to restart the computer and then I did it), the touchpad works fine, the buttons do (left and right) and I can also drag windows, files and so on, although I can't at this point roll without slipping the wheel with the slider. But then, whenever he feels like it, it seems, another window opens again, telling me to restart the computer for the installation ends, that I still, did and finally, always do. And after that when the computer restarts the touchpad is back to its original state, where I can't use the left or right button, or drag files.
I have reinstalled and uninstalled countless times, basically tried everything I found in the internet (outside the restoration of the entire system, I don't want to do).
These problems, basically, as soon as I got my computer, like I said, until I messed up, then the touchpad worked, but not quite as I wanted it (basically because I was stupid and didn't do well grasp the concept of the evolution of the parameters is still). So I installed the latest drivers of synaptics at the time, and since then, it has not worked.
I would be happy if there are methods to solve this without a system restore, because I have a lot of programs and other features that was indeed a hassle to install and fix.
I hope it is posted where it should be...
Thank you very much in advance

How to activate the functionality of scrolling on the touchpad of my laptop Satellite M35X-S163?
The touchpad scrolling feature can be enabled in Control Panel > mouse.
You'll find the option but don t forget that the driver for the touchpad should be installed and you can find it on the Toshiba site:
The touchpad scrolling has stoped working.
I restarted / reinstalled the driver / reformatted hardrive 3 times (this works but the feature soon stop) / sytem restore / disabled firewall /?
Can anyone help please it is really annoying me for the first time I'm having a problem with this machine that really gets to me.
And what satellite you have? Is - this new model of notebook with touchpad buttons?
I'm new to this forum so I don't know if this is the right place to post this.
Anyway, recently I installed Windows 7 32 bit on my Toshiba laptop, everything went well and I installed all the drivers I needed in order to make the webcam and the function of the keys at work etc.
But I have a problem, my touchpad scrolling is not working after installation, now I can't scroll up and down, left and right with my touchpad. I tried searching for all the drivers who can help solve this problem, but I havn't been able to find everything about the touchpad.
Anyone would be able to help me with my problem? Would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
Normally, you need to install the driver for the touchpad for use of the virtual scrolling function. I checked the site Web of Toshiba and I could find a touchpad driver for Windows Vista 32 bit. Normally the Vista drivers are also work on Windows 7.

I bought a portable Satellite P870 last week, I found the function do not work, especially for the backlit keyboard function key, I tried almost everything, but doesn't help t, only the brightness and volume can be adjust.
I wonder if there is an update of facilities or for my laptop error checking, maybe I am missing some files of utilities Toshiba?
Do you use your new Satellite phone with original operating system preinstalled that you got with it?
Have you noticed these problems since the first day or later?
What you can try is to reinstall extra package from Toshiba. This package contains several tools and one of them is utility of flash cards.
Latest version, you can find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
My touchpad scroll does not work in Firefox. It works great with IE and other applications (Windows 10).
If it was a driver issue - I think that this would not work in all applications, but it works fine everywhere (except Firefox)
I can operate for a short period, if I uninstall the Touchpad (in Device Manager), restart, re - installed.
Again, hard to believe it would be a driver problem - works fine in all applications, except Firefox...
He stares at me
I used everything on my laptop Satellite uninstalled and reinstalled Windows 10.
Now, toshiba applications disappeared.
This isn't my problem.
My problem is that on my touchpad scrolling is not working.
Synaptics is gone and when I try to install a new driver (Touch Pad driver) it gives an error after installation.
Synaptics is installed accept for the uttilities mouch.
Someone can help me.
I don't know what model of laptop you have, but it turns out that not all series of phones are supported to win 10 upgrade.
In this case Win 10 drivers will not be released on such unit...
The touchpad scrolling requires additional touchpad driver...
If your device supports Synaptics touchpad, you can also use the driver for the Synaptics driver page:
But currently driver to Win 10 is not available... you can try to install and to use the Win 8.1 driver but I'm not sure if it will work properly...
For the better or worse over the weekend, I downloaded windows 8.1 on a toshiba laptop (model PSPLFA p870) that was running windows 8. Graphics card is NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630 M 2 GB with Optimus + Intel® HD Graphics 4000
couple of questions:
(a) I'm having some trouble to make windows 8.1 works fine on this laptop and cannot get/find new drivers on the toshiba site to properly adjust the video card.
Any ideas how or where I can download video drivers that are suitable for this laptop?
Too eager not to uninstall and go back to windows 8, now that I went that day...
I have a call yesterday with microsoft yesterday which seems to go nowhere to fix one or two other things after this upgrade.
(b) on the windows 8.1 machine my internet connection when running IE11
seems now a little flaky and suspect that it is a matter of 11/windows 8.1 internet explore (other laptops on my wireless network running windows 7 and XP work fine and do not abandon their studies and can access all the info I can't get on the machine win 8.1) which seems to be a bit a common issues by looking at some other forums and
(c) I can't download or open files from google docs (screen freezes right most of the way through the download) on the 8.1 update windows machine.
Any help appreciated,
Your laptop belongs to the PSPLFA series. This series was released in Australia
The same notebook PSPLFE series is available in Europe.
On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will find all drivers update 8.1 Win
_Importnat: _ the Win 8.1 drivers must be installed in the right order!
Check the instructions for installation, which is available in the list of drivers too and follow exact order!
