Satellite Pro 6000 - pc wireless card only works in one slot

Hello

I have a problem with my wireless pc card.
It works in a slot, but when plugged in the other it gets stuck on acquiring network address.
Is it possible to fix it, or are the two different ports.

Hey Buddy,

According to the manual the two slots is normal PC card connectors so that the WLAN card should run in both slots.

But why is it so important that map PC works in both slots?
You have another PC card that you can test in the second slot?

What operating system you are using and what WLAN card is it exactly?

  • Satellite Pro 6000 - new RAM does not work

    Hi all

New to this forum sorry if this was asked before, I did a search but could not find anything so here goes.

I just bought a new RAM for my Satellite Pro 6000. When I install it nothing happens the laptop won't boot. If I put the old stick in no problem. The ram I bought is unb 512 MB PC133 CL3 and old RAM 256 MB PC133s. I think little small to read with these old eyes.

I was told I might need an update of the BIOS but cannot find one for my laptop under 1.4 for the moment.
Any help would be thank Lindsey

I think that the new RAM is not compatible with the motherboard or laptop.

The manufacturing of the new RAM you said does not for me so I would buy an another RAM, such as Kingston. Kingston makes high quality RAM and many users here buy Kingston RAM to upgrade its RAM.

By the way: do you use the RAM or only the new? Normally, if you use two memory modules live, you must use it with the same specifications.

The update of the BIOS, you can find the Toshiba site, but this doesn t affect the compatibility of Aries.

    Hello!

Yes, I think that all wireless with drivers Windows 98 PCMCIA cards would be OK, perhaps that some of them are for max. 11 Mbps transfer speed only...

  • Satellite Pro 4600: WiFi / Wireless Card [built-in]

    Hello

I've got some hard get my WiFi integrated to work. I can't seem to find a driver for it anywhere (to install even the damn thing) and I can't seem to find anywhere in the BIOS that will allow me to "enable" it.

I spent it to 'On' but still no luck. Could someone help?

    Hello

I assume that the laptop has been delivered without any WiFi card and you have installed the minPCI wireless network card. Am I wrong?
Well, first of all, how did you install the wireless network adapter?
As far as I know there are Brown and white 2 cables. The white goes to the hand and Brown to auxiliary voltage
Then Device Manager should recognize the device is an additional device. I put t know what WLan card you use, but the drivers compatible, you should find on the Wlan card manufacturers website.

On the left side for laptop, you'll find a Wlan antenna switch. This switch must be turned on (LIT) If you want to use the Wlan

  • Re: Satellite Pro 6000 hesitating behavior after having worked for a while

My SP6000 10 years old running Windows 98 starts and works fine, but very often after 10 minutes (more or less), it will start to answer 'hesitating', which is as well the mouse and the keyboard may take several seconds to answer each click or movement.
The machine do not crushed, and the fan continues to pass in and out. More generally, a normal behavior is restored after a restart, or sometimes it will return its own if left alone. The problem seems also worse if you have several windows open at the same time.

I am inclined to think that it may be related to overheating, with the central unit to stop a few seconds at a time, and then meet again for a second or two.

Unfortunately, I do not know if the problem has a story that I acquired antiques only recently.

    Thanks for any ideas?

I put t know how long do you use Windows preinstalled, but I think that your laptop needs to be cleaned and you must install OS to have own stuff pre-installed.

Have you can be upgraded to RAM at maximum value? This isn't a bad idea. For this old laptop RAM modules are not expensive and more.

With a few words: I think your laptop needs overhaul.
    What do you think?

  • Change of CPU on Satellite Pro 6000

    Hello

I just got back a Satellite of 6000 Pro with a broken RAM Socket. I wanted to put the P3M CPU in another Satellite Pro 6000 that currently contains only a Celeron. The physical Exchange was no problem, but after turning on the laptop, I can hear a permanent beep.

So is there a switch or something else, I have to change?

    Welcome them

    Hello

AFAIK if the laptop beeps it usually means that the motherboard is unable to get access to certain hardware devices. In your case, it could be the CPU.
It's not easy to say why it happens. Maybe the CPU has a malfunction or you use unsupported CPU or it s something goes wrong during the installation of the CPU.

  • Satellite Pro 6000: display or graphics card problem

    Hello
    I don't have a model satellite pro 6000. PS600E-01NYE-FR
1 GHz P3, 20 GB HDD, wireless bluetooth not running XP

I understand that it is an old laptop but had been treated with great care because I got it.
    My problem is the following;

Startup of the laptop is a route very well, but for some reason together and after no set amount of time the display fails
a wot is visible on-screen is hundreds of tiny colored blocks, sometimes random horizontal lines
but nothing is readable, at all.

I tried to run a yellow one also using the video output external monitor, all appear the same.
a computer display (although I can't check it out) to freeze.

I replaced the heatsink fan as a precaution (using the new dough)
the only solution I can find is replaced the ram with
2 x 256 MB Sync 133 mHz module Samsung. This could be the problem or can anyone shed some light on this for me.

    Thanks in advance
    Display Toshiba SP6000 (?) Problem

I am not a technician, but I assume that there is probably a problem with the video card. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You should contact the service and make them run tests to verify the functionality of the video card. If the card is faulty, just replacement will help.

  • How to get Wlan working on the Satellite Pro 6000 Win2000 Sp4

    Hello
It is possible to get the wlan is working on a Toshiba Satellite 6000 under Windows 2000 Sp4?
There are many indications in other Threads, but nothing has worked.
Does anyone have a step by step instruction?

    Thanks for the help,
    Nico

Very important to know if your Satellite Pro 6000 laptop was equipped with WLan car or not!

If the wireless network adapter is available please check if the right WLan driver has been installed and if the wireless network adapter has been properly recognized!

I searched a little one found that the wireless network cards optional to this series of laptop; This means that some 6000 Pro will be delivered with the Wlan card and some books don't have this module!

  • Satellite Pro 6000: can't find the right WLAN driver

    Hello
I have re-installed Windows Xp on my laptop Satellite Pro 6000. Everything works except for the wireless connectivity.
When we look in the Device Manager, I see that the WLAN driver has not (or wrong) was installed.
Then looked at the Toshiba site for the drivers, but I am not able to find the right one. I found some drivers, which seems to be the one, but unfortunately after installing the drivers, wireless connectivity is still not available.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards, Robert

    Hi Robert

Stand by! Connectivity is not available or the WLAN card is still not installed correctly in the Device Manager list?

  • Satellite Pro 6000 display turns off sometimes

    Hello

I hope someone can shed some light on a problem with a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 that I can't seem to get to the bottom.

The laptop has Windows XP Professional installed and works fine, except for the fact that intermittently (could be 5 minutes, maybe 90 minutes) the display screen is what I can only describe as 'blocks '.

The o/s plant (I ran BACK and Tests of diagnosis when the problem occurred) I would say movement of waves of mouse to the screen and activity HARD drive software continues running, except the screen is unreadable with blocks of color scheme.

Any ideas or suggestions as to what this could be, and how I could go about repairing it?

    Hello

    It's very strange question.
Have you tried to update the graphics driver? If not then please select this option.

Besides if the update doesn't fix this eventually it there something wrong with the hardware. In this case, it is not easy to say what could be wrong.
In your case, I recommend you connect the external monitor if the problem occurs.
If the color blocks will also appear on the external monitor so eventually the graphics card or motherboard is corrupt.

But, if the problem occurs only on the internal laptop display, so I would say that there is something wrong with the display or the FL-inverter.
In this case, you should contact the technicians to solve this problem, because guys have more experience than each common user like me and you.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro 6000: What WLAn Module?

    Hello
Anyone know which Module WLAn can be used in a Satellite Pro 6000.
My NB is pre-installed for WLan but I don't want to use only 11MBit Module and the other are not signed for the SP6000.
Can I use this module to 54 megabits?
    Thank you
    Daishi

    Hello

As far as I know this unit supports only the 802. 11b Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card.
This Mini PCI card, I got with a flow of data 11Mbit.
In this case, I think that you can use a Mini PCI card with 11Mbit.
But nevertheless you ca also use a PCMCIA wireless card. This card is also available with 54 Mbps data rate.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 6000: what is a 3rd Brown cable to WLan?

I recently bought a second hand toshiba satellite pro 6000. When I bought the wireless adapter is not connected correctly, the black and white wires are connected to the mini pc card, but there is a Brown wire with the same end of the connector that is loose.
I don't see where it is supposed to go, and the result is that the quality of the connection is bad at 13%.

If anyone could tell me where this third cable must be connected to it should enhance my quality link (the signal is excellent at 100%)

    Thank you.

    Hello

The 3rd cable does not for me but maybe it's for BT. as far as I know that you need to connect only 2 cables to the Board of Directors to use the Wlan. The performance has nothing to do how many cables are connected.
The white cable usually goes to the hand and the black to the auxiliary voltage
