Satellite Pro U200 cannot recover from standby - screen freezing

the fact is that, after only 9 months of functioning these two problems:
-When the standby for laptop, then it does not recover, and the screen stays black
-all of a sudden the display freezes and I can't do anything. I can only stop it by pressing the power button

can someone help me?

Thanks in advance

PS. These two problems are not at the same time...

Hello

Maybe it's time for a new installation of operating system from the Toshiba Recovery CD?  :|
What thin you about this possibility?

I put t know what you've done in the last month 9 with the laptop but I assume you have installed/uninstalled software.

If you solve this problem with the new OS.

Good bye

Wait a moment more (20 min) and reconnect the battery and the AC adapter.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - cannot boot from external USB DVD

My internal DVD player on my Toshiba Satellite Pro P100 failed, and my windows is broken.
So I bought an external DVD drive to boot from, so I can recover the system using the product recovery DVD.

Now, he actually goes ahead and starts from the DVD. But once in the setup it gives me the message: "ERROR: file Setenv.ini D:\Setenv.ini or X:\Tools\Setenv.ini not found!

So I went ahead and checked if the file was... it was... but it is on Drive E:\ (probably because it's a USB device I'm starting from)

-J' did some research and found that I needed to run the command: X:\tools\recogui /FE: say the recovery my files were actually on drive E:-which has helped a little... until I got a new error where it was always looking for the *. TPA file on drive D: eventhough I have via recogui had specified otherwise.

Now what do I do to understand everything is to the recoveryprocedure on drive E: and not D:, as he seems to think?

As I am in the middle of a period of review, quick response would be GREATLY appreciated :)

    Bad new boyfriend!
Boot from external DVD USB drive is NOT possible!

You can start only from the inside, ODD, HARD, LAN disk and external USB FDD (floppy)

  • Satellite Pro A120 - cannot boot from CD/DVD drive

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 of friends, he was running very slow so I said I'd do the usual for him.
Back up all his documents, and then reinstall windows. not so easy!

First of all, try to boot from the CD so I can boot into Ubuntu or reinstall windows.
Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.

From time to time I get an error saying + "Media test failure - check cable" + or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject.
I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Able to boot Ubuntu from a USB key.
Try to copy its documents on my external drive but really copying REALLY slow (like 1 MB/s) and kept getting IO errors on some files.
I can't run diagnostic software for HARD drive that I can not boot from the CD (could get the Ultimate Boot CD on a USB but if anyone thinks it would help?).

In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR).
    This means a failing drive?
What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the portable CD player with a CD of work of another computer and windows recognize today this new CD player at all!

By putting a bootable CD in this new CD player, it always starts from the HARD drive (do not recognize CD player in all).
The BIOS is a bit unnecessary and does not show the detected disks...

Also, boot Ubuntu from a USB key, with the original CD player, he reads real CD and DVD copied of all zeros are considered blank discs and replace the CD drive with a known working in Ubuntu means its not recognized at all (if this isn't windows driver problems).

When I started messing around with it I remember windows say the time had been reset, so I set the time properly, then he did the same thing again I think. A flat CMOS battery could not be responsible for this?

Is the motherboard and specifically the IDE controller or a broken ports, or am I doing something stupid? I'm tempted to just install Ubuntu by USB and tell him not to bother with CD more ;^)

Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated!

    Thank you
    Dan Gent

    > Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS? I mean all the details like the name WEIRD etc.
If this isn't the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is not recognized by the BIOS due to a hardware problem.

If you can see the STRANGE in the BIOS but are still not able to boot from any disk, then I suppose that the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disk for different reasons.
One of the reasons could be a defective or damage the laser lens

    > Every so often, I would get an error saying "Media test failure - check cable" or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject. I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Yes, this error means that your laptop tried to boot from LAN

    > In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR). This means a failing drive?

As I said above, it would be possible that the reader s laser lens malfunctions and, therefore, the ODD can't handle the media. It seems that the laser lens can not calibrate properly and can not move in the correct position. This question is not repairable and the drive needs to be replaced.

    > What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the CD drive with a CD of work of another laptop and windows don't recognize this new CD player at all!

The fact is that not all CD/DVD drives are compatible due to different master/slave/C-salt settings. You must use the supported players! In most cases, you can find a list in your user manual what CD/DVD readers are compatible.

  • Satellite Pro U200 - error messages from storage during the shut down

I use Office XP, Office 2003, Adobe Acrobat 7.0, internet explore, copernic search machine and some other programs. The Task Manager said after a complete reinstall (recovery CD Toshiba) with about 60 process.

Now, I got to 71. I've updated the LAN driver, use a norton security system, all inclusive Windows XP update
and however - only 2 days after complete reinstallation I am facing once again error messages, which indicates that a process could not put storage.

Hotline or an engineer on the Toshiba site could help me on the issues. Hardware (RAM, hard disk) will have been controlled and that okay.. In addition to the error messages when stop I also got the phenomeonon this laptop is not stopped completely and was for hours (blue screen indicating that the computer stops) until I turned off with the key for 5 seconds.

What could be? I had a few other laptops before and I ran identical programming on them - and I have never had these error messages.
I checked the task Mgr before stopping and no process was running - however this error messages that a program cannot be put in storage rises.

    Hello

For me it of clear. You have installed so many applications, and some of the background process may be completed when the laptop stops.

For me its amazing how many applications are running in the background.
You write something about 71! I also installed many applications, but on my background portable 40 processes are currently running and for me it a very high value.

I think that you should check you msconfig (type msconfig in the run window) option and check the background processes that are not important. Turn off also automatically load it at initialization of the laptop.

Unfortunately, but there is no other solution.

    Maiko

    Hello Maiko

It will be interesting to know since when this error occurs. Try to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool. Maybe after that that the problem will be solved. If this isn't the case, please post again.

One last thing: you can also try to install common modules again. You can find it on the download page of Toshiba.

  • Satellite Pro U200-> black screen after startup

    Hello

It happens from time to time when I try to start my PLUA1E Satellite Pro U200-02802QS4, then I get a black screen even from the BIOS.
What is wrong and how to fix this?

BTW, I already have this BIOS version: P0044v370.exe installed.

    Hello

This happens from time to time?
This means that you can not reproduce this problem?

Hmm that's not easy to say what the issue might be.
Maybe the BIOS update will help you at the moment you can find BIOS 3, 7 victory on the European driver Toshiba page.
If you have a lower BIOS version installed, then I recommend an update.

It is also possible that this problem is related to some of the material; motherboard, screen, etc.
In this case the part should be replaced but first of all it of necessary to know what part is affected and I think that the technician of the ASP for this

  • Satellite Pro U200 - recover all of the WinRE partition system

    Hello

    I have PLUA1E Satellite Pro U200 - 02802QS4 with Vista Business.
HOWTO recover the entire system of the WinRE partition?

It is really strange that you do not understand how it works with recovery and what is this partition WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment).

    One more time:
Partition WinRE has nothing to do with installation of recovery and laptop factory settings.
If you want to have BONES like the first day, you must install OS again. You can do this if you install recovery image designed Toshiba. I don't know if this image you got saved on DVD (disc facilities) or saved as image of HARD drive recovery.
If you can tell me exactly what you have, I can explain how it works.

WinRE partition is characteristic of Vista and Toshiba has nothing to do with it. So, if you want to know more about it using Google and Wikipedia. Maybe some Microsoft forum can help you about this.

  • Graphic driver on Satellite Pro U200 (Vista Business 32 bit CZECH)

I have two problems with my gfx driver.

    (1) for the recovery of the mode standby, the screen goes to 1024 x 768 instead of going back to 1280 x 800
    (2) for playback of Lineage 2, the game crashes to the desktop and I get the error message "display driver igfx stopped responding and was recovered. After Googling a bit, I found a new display driver for my Intel 945GM Express would solve the problem. So I downloaded the correct driver from intel.com but I can't install it. I get an error message saying "driver is not verified for this computer. Ask the manufacturer of the computer for the correct driver. So I went to the toshiba site and I downloaded the driver appropriate to go there (well, toshiba.com is not the last, intel.com has a more recent version). But when I tried to install it, I got the message that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installation! What does that mean?! I have read the readme file and my laptop has certainly meets the requirements, in addition to the driver, I downloaded to work for Satellite Pro U200, because I have entered all the necessary information to download the driver.

If can please someone solve my problem? And if not, is it a toshiba support hotline or something where I can call?

Yes, I agree entirely with snipe. In such situations, I do the following:

Backup of my data-> recover my machine-> install the latest drivers and software including all the tools-> see what happens ;)
And then work with the machine...

    I like computer systems...: D

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro U200: unable to update BIOS to v.3.70 - WIN

Model No.: Satellite Pro U200 PLUA1E
    OS: Vista Business SP2
    Current BIOS: v. 3.50

Try to update the BIOS to v3.70

When I run P0044v370, I get a Windows Script Host message:

    "Script:
    C:\ProgramData\Toshiba\Common\_cabBDF1.tmp\autoExe c.vbe
    Line: 2
    Char: 1
Error: Failed to create object named 'WScript.Shell '.
    Code: 8007007E
    "Source: WScript.CreateObject".

I want to update the BIOS before the upgrade from 1 GB to 4 GB of memory. Also my U200 Pro keeps crashing and whenever before it restarts, I get a message saying something like "try to install the latest version of the BIOS" (it is not on the screen very long sorry can't be more accurate).

I don't have have the recovery CD, I'm trying to boost performance because it runs very slowly.

Everything is - I am in your forum people good hands! Thanks in advance.

You have what Windows OS installed.
    It is Win XP?

Update the BIOS needs an installation of the common Modules, so don't forget not that the common Modules are installed or this software update.
The CM is on the page of the European driver Toshiba

In addition, the P0044v370.exe unpacks the package I recommend creating a folder on the desktop and to decompress the files in P0044v370.exe first. Then move to this new folder and run the exe file in the folder.

    Hey Buddy,

Maybe it s just a software problem and can be solved by reinstalling the operating system.

    Thank you

In the past, I found several threads where people have reported the same issue but on the different model of laptop. Obviously some of them have done a good job and repaired only.
To find the DC jack is not a problem.

You can find it on eBay and it is cheap. Put in google DC jack U200 and you will find it.

Problem is that any computer laptop must be disassembled and new connector soldered to the right place.
    Can you do this?
I want to say if you n t have experience with this stuff don t touch anything and ask for professional help.
