  In your case, I would try to remove the upper and lower filters in the Windows registry. Normally this does not solve the problems with the CD/DVD drive. Just follow the steps described in this workaround from Microsoft:

  I m sure this isn't a problem of an old firmware because I assume that your burned CD/DVD reader drives correctly in the past.
  In addition, the European driver Toshiba page would provide a new firmware if the old firmware would be defective.

  In my knowledge don Toshiba user manuals t provide such information. OK, I put t know if all don t user manual provide this, but I've found this info in my user manual.

  However. I studied a little someone suggested that the Toshiba SD-R6372 dvd recorder is compatible with Satellite Pro 6000/6100 units.

  If you want to burn data to DVD then I would recommend using a 3rd party software like Nero burning ROM
  I use Nero and I got m.

  Also I recommend you to check the registry and to remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:

  Finally and most importantly you can use DVDs that can be engraved with a higher speed, but I recommend the DVD with the lower speed burning I do with 1 x speed.

  Probably, this could be a reason why the movie Harry Potter HD DVD does not work!

  You might try another HD DVD to make sure that the HD DVD drive is not defective.

  You could try to update from Toshiba's HD DVD player with the update published on the Qosmio G30.
  There is an update of this utility, and the original version must be installed to perform this update!
