Satellite U400 - no Signal using the LCD TV HDMI connection

I connected the laptop to my Phillips TV with hdmi-hdmi cable.
The first few days everything worked fine.

Yesterday, when I turned on the TV, the laptop screen flickered.
The image on the TV shows the first seconds, then becomes a blue screen and displays the message "No Signal".
What is the problem?

I have to support by phone, call, communication is cut off in a minute.
Sorry for my English, I'm from the Russia.

Hello

I m not fine what could be wrong, but it seems that there is no signal from the HDMI port.
I think you should check the basic things

First set the default BIOS (press F10 BIOS and save the changes).
In addition to use the FN + F5 key combination to switch between the display of the computer laptop and external display

The graphics driver must be updated or reinstalled as well

  • Cannot take Photos using the LCD

I just bought a D60 and when I try to take a picture using the LCD screen and auto focus it won't take the picture.  It will however, when I get out of auto focus or when I use the viewfinder.  But not using the LCD and AV screen on.

Everyone knows about this problem?  If so, how to solve it?

I assume you mean that the 60 d (he was in fact a D60, but it is more than 10 years.)

Development of systems should has enough light and (b) an object with a certain contrast.

For example: she would have a hard time focusing on a wall of ordinary color in dim light.  But if you give him something with contrast, going to an easier time concentrating.

What kind of lighting you have and what kind of subject you want to photograph?

Have you tried to test the system under ideal circumstances (beautiful light bright and contrasting topics?)

Either way... using the camera through the viewfinder will still be faster to use liveview.  The camera actually uses different systems development depending on how you use it.

When you use the viewfinder, autofocus camera sensors use "phase detection".  These sensors are not on the image sensor.   The reflex mirror bounces low light these sensors.  The sensors are looking for contrasting edges.  Through a Prism-like efect, part of the image moves in one direction and in the other part (imagine use a pair of scissors to cut a picture into two halves and then slightly evil align the image along the cut).  The amount of the displacement varies according to the distance of focus on the subject.   The camera is capable of analyzing the pixels along the edge to determine how the two halves should adjust, and with this, it can determine how the focus needs to be adjusted in order to bring together the image.

There is an additional advantage to the phase system to detect.  The system is able to analyze all areas of focus at the same time.  The direction of movement tells the camera that he needs to focus closer or further away.  That means in a moment, the camaera knows _which _ AF point is on the nearest subject and he knows how and to what extent the development must settle before the picture comes to focus.  That means the phase detect AF systems is generally useless to "hunt" for focus... they know exactly which way to turn the update and how far to go to get a lock.

The phase detection system is very fast.

When the camera using the "live view" mode, the reflex mirror was swinging clear so that the light can strike the image sensor.  This means the tiny mirrors that bounce light in the development of phase-detect sensors are not in-game camera cannot use this system.

Instead, it analyzes the image on the sensor trying to achieve maximum contrast in the target areas.

The best example I can think of is to imagine a "UPC code" (bar code) and imagine what it looks like when it is 'in' focus 'out' of focus vs.  If it is, in short, you have a white background with rows of sharp, crisp, black.  But if you think that involved... colors each pixel is 'white' (background) or 'black' (scratches).  There is no pixel 'gray '.    Now, imagine this same barcode horribly blurred... you have a white background, but when you approach a black line, go you through a lot of "grey" get pixels gradually darker until you get to the black parts of the streak.   The camera knows that he emphasized when she reached the highest possible contrast between adjacent pixels.

Unlike the "detection phase" development, the system of 'contrast' doesn't know what direction to adjust to get the update.  It samples should be taken... (adjust and see if it is better or worse... If it gets worse, reverse the sense of the update and try again).  Not only the computer did not have to do further analysis to detect if the image is sharp... He must do more iterations because of the problem of hunting of accent.

Point & shoot cameras and 'live view' mode on cameras digital SLRS generally use this system of the development of "contrast detection.  The system is extremely accurate... but the drawback is that the computer has to analyze the image for contrast several times and it's not nearly as fast as the phase detect sensors (which are usually extremely fast).

Cameras struggle to concentrate when there are nothing to do with contrast high to base its analysis.  They struggle in low light because there is not much difference between the dark and light areas.

Canon has a new system called the "double pixel" AF.  They essentially combined the "phase detection" technology right on the sensor by creating micro-prismes on the surface of the imaging sensor itself.  The camera is actually capable of doing the "phase detection" style auto-focus directly on the surface of the sensor (never possible and Canon are the only company that got it.)

The new 70 d is the first DSLR (and currently only) to get the system.

If shoot you, you don't have the choice... the mirror must be upward in order to record videos so the camera can only use by contrast detection focus when shooting video *-with the exception of the D 70 because he can actually do "phase detection" focus directly on the sensor.

  • Satellite Pro U400-11V - Installation using the floppy from XP downgrade

    Hello

Yesterday I had to replace my HARD drive once it is simply dead.
I didn't know it was a big deal that I had lost any data.
I would just like to re - install Windows XP using the Downgrade XP disk came with the laptop.

It turns out that: I have about 10 discs Downgrade XP each almost identical looking and everyone, I assume, associated with a particular Toshiba laptop my company bought at some point.
Now, I have no idea what drive is the one that came with my Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-11V.

    What I did:
    -We selected at random.
    -Installed Win Xp Pro.
    -Tried to activate Windows.
-It indicates that the product key is bad (and some drivers are missing, so it is obviously not the disc that came with the laptop, but he got me so far).
-Correct the product key according to the key that is located on a sticker at the bottom on the laptop *.
    * On the sticker, this key is an OEMAct Windows Vista Business key, the OS of the laptop came with.
-L'activation of Windows will not accept the key to the sticker.

    So I have 2 questions:
    1. is there another method of re - install Windows XP Pro using the * original * Downgrade XP disk that came with?
2 (leading to #1) is it possible to identify which drive is the one shipped with my laptop? Perhaps by checking some serial numbers on the disc?

Worst case scenario I'll have to make (at most) 10 Windows installs until one works.
But I was really hoping some help & advice.

I can't wait to hear all the answers,
    Thank you!

    > Now, I have no idea what drive is the one that came with my Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-11V
Your ad is really funny :D

I put t know how your Win XP drive looks like. My laptop came with the recovery disk and it was mentioned on the label that it's Toshiba recovery disc.

In addition he s already enabled so I put t need to activate the operating system by using this key.
Also, the key at the bottom of the unit belongs to the preinstalled operating system and it will NOT work with the new Win XP or another operating system.

But back to your Win XP disks
I recommend that you check the single disc... maybe a disc is already activated

Can someone direct me to a link of support for the implementation in passwords in BIOS?

There are several options and I don't know what does what...
    Thanks for your help...

I feel that the definition of a password or both in the BIOS will help the face recognition program to work, for some reason any.
I NEVER managed to properly configure that, although I tried several times,

A lot of frustration and time, I would say.
    This is for safety.

    > Can someone direct me to a link of support for the implementation in passwords in BIOS?
If you want to set the password in the BIOS you will need to access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key immediately after that the laptop has been powered.

There is a 3rd tab security.
There you can set the BIOS password. You would need to put everything first and then you must confirm the password once more to

This s the password of BIOS nonsense has nothing to do with the reorganization of face.

  • Satellite M60: grey spots on the LCD screen

It seems that I have a problem with my Satellite M60. I noticed a few more dark spots on the LCD screen. Looks like the screen is dirty (grey size spots about 5-6 pixels), but it seems to be not in the surface of the screen, but on the inside (the surface is perfectly clean) and, certainly, is not the problem of dead pixels or subpixels.

Is it possible that there is little dust inside of screen? Is it possible to clean it somehow? Such a strange thing is covered by the standard warranty?

    Hi Fox

Possible it s not a BIOS issue. Of course, I read the other case, but perhaps it s not the same question.

But do not forget that you are using the good BIOS!
A lot of users here uses a bad BIOS or bad BIOS procedure.
In addition, the BIOS version performed from 14/09/06. That is why it s not very old updated.

  • Re: Satellite U400 - failed to start the system recovery

I have a Satellite U400-PSU44E and Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit preinstalled and having some problems with my computer, had decided to use the hidden partition on the hard drive to fix the system.
I chose 'Repair your computer' (or something similar to this), but having done, a message tells me that,

"The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer. »

I don't know why that is. Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated.

The Partition Recovery seems to be defective. You can order the replacement of Toshiba recovery disks. Which country are you?

Another possibility could be that the HARD drive has failed. in this case, you will need to send the system to an ASP for repair.

  • Satellite U400 - failed to create the recovery disk - bad DVD player?

    Hi all

    I have a 13 inch Satellite U400.
Due to problems with my Softkeys, lighting and hibernation status (any help on thos would also be useful) I want to create a recovery DVDs with the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

The thing is: it starts when I have a CD in the DVD drive, but as soon as I put a DVD in (what is needed), it gives me an errormessage that said something like 'another application is using this drive or no disc recording where found in the laptop. 0D00E4-F0-00000000 error code).

My DVD player does not work properly, I can play movies and the drivers and the status is ok too.
I noticed, that error code changes, but I don't know how to get the recovery disk creator will.

What can I do? Change something in the registry?
I don't know what happened on my laptop, I bought a few months ago - new. I guess that, reset everything would bring my softkeys, lighting and hibernation status back.

So, if someone nows how to work at least one of the problems, please give me advice.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

Did you create virtual CD/DVD drives with special software? If so, remove the software completely. In addition, if you have installed burning, programs, you should check if they will be started when Windows starts and if so, disable the beginning upward. So go to start > run > msconfig > start. Here, you can disable the start of burning software (for example Nero, CD Burner XP, etc.).

And what DVD are you using for burning? I have good experiences with DVD - R Verbatim and TDK discs. These are high-quality discs and you should try it too!

Last but not least, you need to remove the upper and lower registry filters. It is always advisable to the problems of the CD/DVD drive:
    (1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
    2) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart.

Depending on your problem with the keys to enlightenment that you should try to reinstall the Toshiba value added Package. This determines the buttons of enlightenment, FN keys and other special functions on your laptop. I had a similar problem with my Qosmio F50 illumination buttons and I posted something on this subject in the Qosmio forum that you should try it too!

  • Satellite U400-15B hangs on the Internet and make multimedia keys touch

    Hi all

Had two problems with my U400-15B which I hope to solve.

    (1) the first problem is that I noticed that my internet sometimes seems to weigh on Internet Explorer, when using the Web site who have a couple of images e.t.c.
It freezes but the rest of the laptop works very well - I want to say you can go to the start menu and other programs very well. However, if you open Microsoft Word, while this is the case, it will take a little more time to load than normal upward. Anyone know what this might be or how I can fix this problem?

I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit and the laptop has 4 GB of RAM / thus, Intel Centrino 2 P7350 - is powerful enough.

    (2) the second problem is that when I press the 'sound' button, the white lights and the white bar above the touchpad become informed. When I press on it again once the lights come back but he is not mute. Only when the laptop is put in standby mode and then woke up once again, the key work properly. All the others work fine. Does anyone know what is the cause?

I exchanged this laptop 3 times now and each of them did question (2), but surely this isn't normal.

Any help or advice to address these problems are very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    (1) have you tested a different internet browser? For example, Firefox.
I use Firefox for years and never had any problems with it. I like Firefox over Internet Explorer, it s faster and you will get a lot of modules useful for her ScrapBook.

    (2) have tried to update the BIOS? Look on the Toshiba site to find a newer version:

  • Satellite L855 - 13G - cannot use the Webclaim service

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13G (PSKACE-04Y00CFR) in France last year, but this computer is already leading me in trouble!

The graphics makes noise, one of the USB port does not work, and now, without any change of software, the computer shuts off after displaying a blue screen with "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR".
This blue screen just randomly (say about two or three times a day).

I would send this computer for repair, but now I find something very weird: Toshiba has done everything possible to hide L855 - 13G!

All first of all without result on the Web site:
    https://www.Google.co.UK/#q=%22l855+13g%22+site:Toshiba.com

Second, the model is not listed in the support Center:
    https://www.Toshiba.fr/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
When I enter the serial number: no result. Also using the fields ' or is your product "model is not listed.

Third, and better, I can't access the service of warranty claim for a Toshiba product for this computer: when I'm on https://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/Webclaim/ and I fill the serial number, the computer is identified (Alleluia), I have a green check mark for the status of the guarantee and "your product is still in warranty period."

But then, I can't click next and mention "product not available: Unfortunately your product is currently not available" appears instead.

So... apparently Toshiba is is best to forget about the Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13 G, but for unlucky enough to have people buy a what are the next steps?

I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

    > I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

First of all, I want to provide you with information on this community.
This is a user to user community where you meant fans of Toshiba. You won't find any Toshiba here people

Now some details about the fix for laptop:
In case your laptop computer s hardware began to malfunction, you can contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country in order to fix hardware problems.
Here on this page of Toshiba ASP you can find all available worldwide FSA:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

Last but not least, he should know that the warranty only covers hardware problems.
If in case the laptop does not work due to some software problem, the warranty would not cover the cost. This is why I would recommend you to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory BEFORE you contact the ASP.

I hope this info helps a bit.

As far as I know the Toshiba HDD Protection Utility V2.0.2.3 (for Vista) was pre-installed on the U400 series, so in my opinion, the sensor is available.

made with files - and I do not have.

I watch the options he had, but it just made no sence and would not make my situation worse.

    I hope someone can help.

    Thanks much sally

    Hello!

Looks like you have a strange virus on your laptop

But I put t know why you don t want to do a complete reformat of the laptop. The point is that the Toshiba Recovery disk contains a picture of the factory settings. This means that you can restore t that only some files and you need to do a complete reinstallation of the operating system. To be honest, I think that it is in any case the best solution, because I think that the virus can only be deleted if you format the HARD drive using the Toshiba recovery disc.
To use the only recovery disk, you must boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. It of easy to use and only takes a few minutes.

If you want to save some files before you begin reinstalling Windows, you can put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. Then you can back up your data from another computer. I did it and I have had success with this and maybe you too. It s worth a try.

And let me give you a little advice. After you have reinstalled Windows to use a good antivirus program and keep up-to-date. I have a good experience AntiVir (Freeware) and Kaspersky. In addition to activate the Windows Firewall or you use another firewall. Don t forget to install the latest Service Pack for your operating system and activate the Windows automatic update function. If you can get all of the updates in a timely.

I hope I could help you, and now you understand the best deal.

    Good bye
