Satellite U840W-10R problems to connect an additional screen HDMI

Hello!

I need support, I'm going CRAZY!

I bought a 27 "display to connect via HDMI to my laptop, I tried in the store and the screen worked all right just plug the HDMI.
They sent me a few days later a marks a new and to my surprise it does not work.

I know that my laptop works perfectly well, I regularly connect it to the TV, using the same cable and the screen works with other computers.

I found in the Web of Toshiba site an update for display drivers, GPU Intel(r) HD.
Right after the installation of this driver, the screen works!

I see the duplicate of the image, no problem, but then I have to restart the computer to save the changes.

After the reboot, the image is not seen more, Intel graphics card recognizes no other way out, the screen displays a clear message that there is no signal HDMI coming.

If I reinstall the drivers, the screen comes back to life, only delay the restart action that I do work for a while. In the last test that I did not lasted longer than 15' on.

I also watched the site Web by Phillips (the screen brand), find a pack to update the screen for Windows 8 pilots. But my system responds it's all up to date...

SOS!

Hello

What happens if you use FN + F4 (or only F4) key combination?
It allows to switch between internal and external?

FN + F4 changes the active display device. To use a simultaneous mode, you must set the internal display resolution to match the resolution of the external display device.

  • Satellite L670 - How can I connect my TV to HDMI port?

Recently bought a Satellite L670 and now I am trying to connect to my HD TV.

Checked the manual and it says to go to "display settings" then "change the appearance of display you" then "Advanced settings" then "list all modes" and change the settings for one of the HD modes for example 1920 by 1080 etc etc. None of them are available in the "list all modes"! higher is the true color of 1600 x 900. This means that the HDMI output is not available on this laptop?

Also tried the "Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel" option and the "monitor / TV Settings" says it is not supported! Assuming that this laptop "not" support HDMI output (why have a HDMI port, otherwise?), can someone advise a step by step procedure that will work.

Normally, it is possible to use the screen 1080 p with HDMI output resolution if the external monitor supports this.

    Hello

Before starting the installation you need to format the HARD disk or an entire partition. Then you can install your operating system with the original CD of Microsoft Windows XP. After this action, you can install the drivers from Toshiba. All the necessary drivers, you can find the Toshiba site.

  • Satellite T110-10R with Realtek 8187se - connection drops on battery

    Hi my friends,
There is a big problem with my laptop.
    WLAN signal strength: very good
other laptops have these questions in this network.
    Yes, here's my problem:
ca mode, there is no problem with the wireless connection, but on battery mode, my wlan keeps disconnecting connection, disconnection, connection... sometimes, this occurs several times in a single minute! It is quite painful and embarrassing.
This happens with different network wireless, tried different ones - not only my home network
    my system:
Toshiba Satellite T110-10R with Realtek 8187se
    Windows7 64 bit.
here a brief overview on the things I've tried
    -Update BIOS!
    -Update driver!
    -Reinstalled operating system!
    -power options: max performance
-even in all power options, I put a maximum performance for the settings of the wireless adapter, on batteries, too
-Properties of the wlan in Device Manager card, I disabled the option: allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
-in the same window, advanced, active 802.11 d

Well, despite the fact that I have this problem on my home network AND other networks, I tried following things on my router at home:
    -updated firmware update
    -reset the device
-no automatic IP (don't know the correct English term) - that I put on my laptop, too
    -wlan changed to 802.11 b, g, b, and g, also tried wep
WLAN - channel set to auto and not auto, try different channels
-turned off all power saving features

... as you can see, I tried everything I KNOW...
Maybe, you guys have something for me that I didn't...

Well, hopefully, someone can help me with this problem...

    > ca mode, there is no problem with the wireless connection, but on battery mode, my wlan keeps disconnecting connection, disconnection, linking

According to my experience, this has something to do with the old driver and power saving.
Depending on your message, this happens only in battery mode. So in my eyes, he pilots s/issue of energy saving

    I found some interesting documents:
+ Wireless network card not working anymore after the change from AC to battery mode power +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB12033K0001R01.htm

+ Wireless network connection disconnects when the AC adapter is removed. +

The second doc recommends updating the driver Realtek WLan may be, you can also try a page from Realtek.

    How can I do?

We have a Sat.Pro P100 on our boat for navigation (and movies on the night watch) with the monitor above the deck. I plugged the cable 15 pin, turned on the external monitor, powered the P100 on and no signal. I understand that the sresolution on the LG monitor is only 1045 etc, but can someone give me a clue what I can do.

And exactly what it should achieve Fn + F5? Some of the answers as soon as possible as we sail supposedly tomorrow. Thank you, Sue

    Hello

the maximum resolution of your screen is 1024 x 768, so then the connection from the screen to your machine and power on it then you should get a picture on the external display.
Maybe you have to push this button of automatic setting on your screen when the power. And if you can not get a picture at the start, it must at least be able to switch the screen with this FN + F5 combination when you reach the windows desktop (this key combination is to switch between the internal/external screen). Otherwise, you can also try to switch to the screen by clicking to the right on your desktop, then click on 'Properties', select the 'Settings' tab, then activating it the external display.

Please try and give feedback if it worked.

  • Satellite U840W - clicking the icons/applications - nothing happens

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite U840W-10J, have had for about 20 months without no problems so far. Without warning and apparently at random times, my laptop loses its ability to launch any application. If I select an application icon from the menu start/work station or to a file in a folder, nothing happens. Applications that are already open when the problem affects work very well, if I close them I can't reopen. My office then goes black and my desktop icons disappear, everything except the Recycle Bin.

I can only restart the computer by pressing the power or by using CTRL + ALT + DELETE key. My laptop is restarted it will then work as usual for a period of time before the same thing happens again. I use Windows 8.1 and I have McAfee Internet Security installed. The problem started about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas or support would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi Iwan

According to your message the laptop together problems might arise due to some malfunction of the system/software... I think that no one will be able to tell what is the problem with preinstalled system, but you can try to solve the problem of cleaning the registry and operating system.

    How?

I could recommend one freeware tool called CCleaner... this software was already mentioned in the different forum discussions and it helps you to clean the registry and remove the temporal files stored...

In the event that this software does not help, try to repair the system using Windows 8.1 repair solutions: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm
The "Refresh" option could be the key here...

But in the worst case, if you would not be able to resolve the problem by using the "refresh" option, then you could try to recover the laptop using the Toshiba HDD recovery... "Reset your PC" would be the next possible step...

  • Satellite L875D-10R - dedicated video memory - 512 MB only

    Hello

I have a problem with my dedicated video memory. I bought my Toshiba laptop with 2 GB (amd 7640G) dedicated video memory, but it shows that I have only 512 MB dedicated. I tried also test in GPU. It shows also only 512 MB.

Is it maybe problem in point 8.1 of Windows?

    Hello

The Satellite L875D-10R supports 7640 G AMD Radeon HD internal graphic unit. This GPU is part of the processor AMD Quad-Core A8 - 4500M.

Graphics memory depends on main memory. A part of the main memory would be assigned to graphics memory. In the case of 8 GB RAM main GPU can use up to 4083 MB by using the 64-bit system.

You should also know that this will be controlled by the graphics driver and you cannot change it manually.

  • Satellite U840W PSU5XA - Win 8.1 installation and effective use of SSD

    Hello.

IM in the hope of a solution to the two questions.
The second that I suspect is caused by the first.

    Satellite U840W PSU5XA-001006

Has started getting the BSOD with various defects.
The most persistent has been IRQ LESS or not EQUAL - iaStorAV.sys

Many hours of research and I can't find a solution or post did the extension "AV" the iaStore.sys...

So I have provided zero factory (BSOD) issues have persisted.

So, I Clean installed Windows 8.1 directly above everything and removed all previous records.

I noticed that the system was not working all utility brand TOSHIBA factory etc. and seemed to be much slower. I suspected that this was caused because of the 32 GB used SSD as Cache has apparently been bi-passe and now everything worked strictly on the 500 GB HARD drive. I don't remember BSOD, but the system has been significantly slower on the start-up and performance.

(SIGH), I even once reset to factory settings, and it gave me back TOSHIBA utilities such as gas stations of the brand.

HOWEVER, the BSOD remained, and once the upgrade to windows 8.1 MAINTENANCE of files and settings, the iaStorAV.sys error is returned (specifically when closing lid in mode "standby") forcing the CRITICAL error and force the system to restart instead of awakening from sleep.

Note: Windows is a legitimate copy of MS, so it's not the question. More strange, it's that 8.1 installation had run at least 8 months no problem before sudden BSOD Page file and iaStorAV errors. Readings and messages have believe me MS Updates to bee the culprit here for the start of these issues.

I read a similar post regarding RAID CACHE PRIOR to 8.1 Windows Installer. My intuition tells me that these two can only be related. that is if windows was incorrectly installed RAID cache, CACHE is not in strored properly and causing BSOD. Im a beginner at this stuff, so be patient...

What I really want to know is, how now can I Factory Reset Windows 8, make it positive to the 32 GB is used as CACHE and help etc. fastboot, then pass safely to 8.1 Windows?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ATTEMPT of THINGS ALSO: TSRI and RAID re - install, memory (success), updated BIOS to 6.70, Diagnostic fast storage re-installed drivers

    Thanks in advance,
    Mr. frustrated...

iastorav.sys is part of the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
The BSOD appears to be related to this pilot and is therefore the first step which I recommend: update the Intel rapid Storage Manager driver.
The latest version should be available on the Intel driver page.

If you use the Toshiba Recovery disk or the HARD drive recovery process, you will get the same system and State of the laptop computer as on the first day of purchase. In this case, the system must be configured correctly.

But if you have deleted or replaced the HDD / SSD in the past, then the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuild with special tools / software and the procedure.
This can be done ONLY authorized by the service provider.

By the way: the upgrade to win 8 to 8.1 Win has been very well described in this Toshiba HowTo doc:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/items/how-to/823

  • Satellite U840W - disc cannot be displayed in disk part operating system does not start

Yesterday I tried to boot my laptop Toshiba Satellite U840W (PSU5XA-001006) and it came with no bootable device - please reboot

When I try to view the disc in the part of the disk, it cannot see that the USB key that I use to try to reinstall Win 8. In the setup of windows 8 I can't display the installation discs. I can't run the recovery because I don't have a recovery disk and repair does not work as it says that the disk is locked.

Don't know what I can do now, would be grateful for all those who had suggestions.

Of course, there is a problem with the internal HARD drive.
If it is not listed in the BIOS (BIOS first page) then the HARD drive died and that's why the system cannot be found.

I guess that in this case, there is only one solution: HARD drive needs to be replaced and the system must be installed again.

  • Replacement of HDD on Satellite U840-10R

    Hello

    I currently have a problem on my computer (Satellite U840 - 10R Reference: PSU4WE-00E017FR).

The SSD (32 GB) from my hard drive part seems to be broken. I can't activate the SSD feature in the Intel software or I am in big trouble, so I disabled it. However, I can still use my computer because the part of the HARD drive (500 GB) is ok and the system.

My question: is it possible to take all the drive of my computer and put a new SSD a place?

How is it? This is similar to a 2.5 HDD classic?

Would what kind of interface I find him inside? (Sata 3?)

    Thank you

I don't know how old is your machine, but if the warranty is still valid I think you should contact Toshiba service and ask for replacement. Warranty will cover the costs.

In any case, this 32 GB SSD's with mSATA type slot multi-level (MLC) cell. On Google you can see what it looks like. Generally, replacement should not be problematic but if don't have experience with computer laptop disassembly you shouldn't do it alone.

Is that SSD is placed directly under the lid and place between RAM and WLAN card.

  • Satellite U840W - no RAID on BIOS option after PC repair

    Hello

I bought a U840W of August from a British seller on eBay (although I live in France). After a few months of work perfectly, he had some water damage, and I sent it to Toshiba for repair. Apparently because my warranty was valid in the United Kingdom, they gave to CONTROLS for repair (a company that sells PC Toshiba parts). They changed the motherboard (I think twice, because I had to send it because the fan was not working and they said they changed the motherboard again).

So after getting it back finally with the fan, I notice that the startup is very slow (30 sec instead of 10), and also, it was a bit slower. So I update all my drivers and notice that the caching SSDS does not work (using the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology), initially, he showed the SSD as unknown but then after completely with diskpart, it showed as available (for storage, but not for caching) ", this means no acceleration tab).

So after reading a lot, I enter the BIOS and see that I have had no RAID option for the SATA controller, only AHCI and compatibility (IDE).

Don't you think that they put the wrong mother with RAID disabled?
My BIOS version is also 6.90 and I find only 6,80 BIOS for my computer, don't you think they have access to the latest version of the BIOS, or simply that they have put another motherboard?

Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to 6.80 (I don't know if it will help to solve it but maybe)?

I didn't contact Toshiba on the phone because it's quite expensive, I preferred to ask your opinions before here.

    Thanks in advance

    > Do you think they put the wrong mother with RAID disabled?
    No, I don't think so.

As far as I know after a replacement of SSD or HARD disk on the Mobile Satellite U840W the RAID mode is configured and TSRI (quick start of Intel technology) is not available.

To rebuild mode factory RAID, RAID mode should be rebuild and TSRI must be activated using special tools.
But as far as I know that this can be done by the maintainer agreed Toshiba.

You should get in touch with the guys once more and must explain the cell phone number.
I guess they should know how to solve this problem.
