Save all data acquired by data acquisition

Hi all

I have a problem when I tried to record all the data acquired by the DAQ card. My DAQ is NEITHER 6259, and the version of Labview is 2009.

Basically, what I do use several channels to get different point tensions, then subtract values of both channels (V + and V-) to get the value of the voltage between two points. In my vi, the method of sampling is continuous and the rate is 100 KHz, DAQmx reading is within a while loop and the number of samples per channel is set at 100. After each execution of the loop, I'd get 100 data.  I just use the format in the file to write the data to a .txt file. It seems from that 1 loop only the last data is saved instead of 100.  Previously, I have averaged 100 data inside the acquisition loop for a given, so the write function is OK, but it really slows the program. So I want to write all the raw data in a txt file so later I can treat in Matlab.  Is there a way to do this? Thank you very much.

The seal is the my vi for 2-channel voltage and current source code control under vi. I am new to Labview so the issue really bugs me even after I read a few similar topics in the forum.

Kind regards

Audrey

When you set the number of samples per channel-1, it will read all the values available in the buffer.  A good benchmark would be to read about 1/10th of your sampling rate.  That is to say. If you read at 100 Hz, read 10 samples per channel.

  • Need help recovering from a blue screen. I re from the installation discs on hand and not intend to save all data currently on the hard disk.

A number of months ago one of our computer got a virus and has gradually become unusable. He started as a kind of spyware, that obviously was not what it seemed. Now, we are to receive a blue screen every time we try to start the computer if I try in safe mode it brings me to the "Administrator" or "name of the wife." When I click on one of these he says it saves the parameters and then returns the same screen. I received what I believe to be the re installation of Dell discs, but now I don't know how to access. Thanks advance!

If you have a Dell recovery disk, put it in the optical drive and restart the computer. As the computer starts, press the F12 key and choose to boot from the optical drive. The restore disc will start and that you follow the instructions.

If you have a true Dell disk operating system, follow the steps above to boot from the disc of the operating system. Here are the links explaining how to do a fresh install of XP. Once your operating system is installed, you will then need to install the drivers for all your hardware. If you have received a genuine Dell OS disk you have too a disc called "Dell Resource CD". This CD has all of the drivers. Put in the drive, install the application, and then install the drivers that are found.

  • Error message on Windows XP, "Windows-Delayed Write failed, windows was unable to save all the data for the file.

«Windows-delayed write failed, windows was unable to save all data in the file C:\Documents and settings\new\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Session Storage\004285.log.» The data has been lost. This error can be caused by a failure of your computer hardware.

After this computer freezes and I have to restart my computer. Please help me how to fix this problem.

The error basically says that he tried to write something on your hard drive and for some reason that unfinished write operation.  This could indicate a bad sector on your hard disk, damaged disk or a problem with your hardware.

Whenever a problem involving a disk read or write appears, my first approach is to perform a verify operation of the disc to the hard drive.  Even if this is not your problem, it is a step of good routine maintenance. Run the disk check with the "/ R" or "Repair" option.  Note that the real disk check will be presented at the next reboot, will run until Windows loads completely, cannot be interrupted and can take more than a few hours to run depending on the size of your hard drive, the quantity and type found corruption and other factors.   It is better to perform during the night or when you won't need your computer for several hours.

I don't know where Microsoft 'Technical support engineers' get their information.

Write caching without a doubt "does apply to external hard drives", but it is usually disabled to prevent to sort the problem you are experiencing.

I've seen several positions reporting to the same question that you do.  All of these positions were with SATA drives.  Is your Seagate eSATA drive?

The disc is recognized as an external drive in Device Manager?  In Device Manager, go to the drive properties dialog box and click the policies tab.  An external drive should have two options: "Optimize for quick removal" and "Optimize for performance".  An internal hard drive shows the options as gray (with 'performance' selected), but there should also be a checkbox "Enable disk write cache" under the second option.

What shows in your policies tab?

If I understand correctly, "writeback" or "write behind" is implemented by disc material or its pilot.  If the option is not available on the drive properties > policies tab, I would suggest to contact Seagate support.

  • Save triggered data of 2 modules

I use SignalExpress (3.0) with USB cDAQ-9172, NI9203 current and voltage NI9201 module.  After the acquisition of (continuous) data, I use a trigger current 9203 signal software to analyze and record the triggered data (collected on the 8 channels on 9203).  However, I am not able to save the data of the voltage module 9201?  Looks like that the trigger for software only accepts a single module entry (I think).  As indicated in the attachment "triggering Input.jpg" I can only select 1 module as input for the relaxation of software (current module or module voltage)

Is it possible to trigger on a single track and then save the data of these two modules?

    Thank you!

    Hey Ryan!

You can actually do all this one-step DAQmx Acquire.  There is a tab in the acquisition stage where you can specify your trigger.  Then, there's a recording options tab up at the top where you can choose to save your data when starts it logging to a file TDMS that can be read in excel.

  • Real-time display at the high frequency of data acquisition with continuous recording

    Hi all

I encountered a problem and you need help.

I collect tensions and corresponding currents via a card PCI-6221. While acquiriing data, I would like to see the values on a XY graph, so that I can also check current vs only voltage/current / time. In addition, data should be recorded on the acquisition.

First, I create hannels to analog input with the Virutal DAQmx channel create, then I set the sampling frequency and the mode and begin the tasks. The DAQmx.Read is placed in a while loop. Because of the high noise to signal, I want to average for example every 200 points of the current and acquired for this draw versus the average acquisition time or average voltage. The recording of the data should also appear in the while loop.

The first thing, I thought, was to run in continuous Mode data acquisition and utilization for example 10 k s/s sampling frequency. The DAQmx.Read is set to 1 D Wfm N Chan N Samp (there are 4 channels in total) and the number of samples per channel for example is 1000 to avoid the errors/subscribe for more of the buffer. Each of these packages of 1000 samples should be separatet (I use Index Array at the moment). After gaining separate waveforms out of table 1 d of waveforms, I extracted the value of Y to get items of waveform. The error that results must then be treated to get average values.

But how to get these averages without delaying my code?

My idea/concern is this: I've read 1000 samples after about 0.1 s. These then are divded into single waveforms, time information are subtracted, a sort of loop to sprawl is used (I don't know how this exactly), the data are transferred to a XY Chart and saved to a .dat file. After all that's happened (I hope I understood correctly the flow of data within a while loop), the code in the while loop again then 1000 samples read and are processed.

But if the treatment was too long the DAQmx.Read runs too late and cycle to cycle, reading buffer behind the generation of data on the card PCI-6221.

This concern is reasonable? And how can I get around this? Does anyone know a way to average and save the data?

I mean, the first thing that I would consider increasing the number of samples per channel, but this also increases the duration of the data processing.

The other question is on the calendar. If I understand correctly, the timestamp is generated once when the task starts (with the DAQmxStartTask) and the time difference betweeen the datapoints is then computed by 1 divded by the sampling frequency. However, if the treatment takes considerable time, how can I make sure, that this error does not accumulate?

I'm sorry for the long plain text!

You can find my attached example-vi(only to show roughly what I was thinking, I know there are two averaging-functions and the rate are not correctly set now).

Best wishes and thank you in advance,

    MR. KSE

PS: I should add: imagine the acquisition of data running on a really old and slow PC, for example a Pentium III.

  • Data acquisition period log rate Counter

I measure and record the duration of a pulse train of digital entry (entry to the NI9421 card on a DAQ, series "C" chassis and recorded via LabVIEW SignalExpress 2009).  The acquisition stage 'Counter period' is configured to use ' 1 meter"measuring method.

In order to save the data that I have to use ' 1 sample (on request)"acquisition mode.

When I go through the saved data, how can I determine:

    (a) the sampling frequency of the recorded data points?

point b) absolute timestamp of all the data?

The log file has no information concerning the frequency of recording and my experiences, it seems to change based on the measured period of entry.

    Any ideas?

    Hi a.yearsley,

Counters on cDAQ chassis 1st generation (9172) do not support measures clocked sample period.  I assume you are using this chassis since you mentioned that you have the module in slot 5 or 6.

Your County of edge is very similar to the method of meter high frequency 2.  In both cases, you specify a length of time and count the edges of your external signal during this period.  The 2nd counter is used to generate the gate signal for the duration of time specified.  Your error with this method is up to 1 time of the external signal, it is more commonly used with higher frequency signals (I don't know what is the frequency of the signal).

The standard method of 1 meter counts the number of ticks to a time base internally (80 MHz) for a period of the input signal.  As the signal itself, it is what is blocking the measure, the sample is locked in the buffer on the edge of the signal and is not clocked independently.  If you wish, you can configure the implicit synchronization, which gives you a period measured for each face of the input signal.

Taking the stage above an idea more far, you could just set up a task to County of edge with the time of 80 MHz as the source database.  Use the external signal as a sample clock.  The only difference between this and using the standard period with implicit synchronization measure is that the counter is not reset after each sample.  This could make it easier to follow if you want to save a sample all the x seconds (that is, once the total passes a certain value).  You can find the period by subtracting the consecutive numbers and multiplying by the period of the time base (12.5 ns).  The meter would be turning after 53.69 seconds about, but if you read the County under the name of U32 there will be no problem with the subtraction (0000 - FFFF = 1 if the numbers are 32).

If you're on cDAQ chassis 2nd generation (e.g. 9174, 9178, 9188), then you have not actually taken in charge for a period clocked sample measurement.  You can choose to enable a medium or not.  The user manual 9178/9174 has diagrams showing the extent of the clocked sampling frequency that is essentially the same thing (the driver reverse the measurement period for the frequency).  Must be guaranteed at least 1 m from your external signal between the sample clocks, if you use this method.  The clock can come from many sources - I would probably recommend using another counter to generate.

  • How to save the data of different rates in a single VI?

    Hello

I tried to acquire 2-channel measurement of voltage at 10 kHz and analyze data, finally to save the data to both 1 kHz and 1 Hz. What I did is this loop of producer/consumer use to do the work of recording at different rates. I have queued all the data in the main loop, and then removed the data and write it to the file in other loops. I added "wait = 1 ms' a consumer loop for recording data at 1 kHz (loop of fast logging) and added" wait = 1000ms' in another loop to get the slow 1 Hz (logging loop) data record.

My problem is that the data record works fine in the case of 1 Hz, but it does not work for the case of 1 kHz. Although the time-out period defined as 1ms, the interval between two samples in the loop of fast data recording is about 100ms.  Subsequently, 1ms, 10ms, 100ms, 150ms tried in this loop to see what intervals are in these cases. I found that the intervals are same as assigned in the timeout greater than 100 ms, but if the time-out is set to 1ms or 10ms, the intervals are again around 100ms.

My question is - why I can't reach data record 1 kHz using loop of consumers/producers, while the same way works for the case of 1 Hz?

    Thank you very much

    Hao

You are sampling at 10 kHz and you want to back up your data "as if you sampled at 1 kHz and 1 Hz", if I understand correctly.  I also understand that you use the design of producer/consumer model to help with this (a good idea).

I'm assuming that the producer 'product' a segment of data at a time, to say the value of a second of data or a 2 x 10000 I16 (assuming a 16-bit integer A/D) table you put into a queue and wait for the consumer.

If you have data at 10 kHz, how do you get representations to 1 kHz or 1 Hz?  There are (at least) two possibilities - average data over the interval of proper time, or (re) sample data.  The good thing is that you can handle the situation 1 kHz and 1 Hz, essentially at the same time and in the same processing loop.  I'll discuss the case 1 kHz - with the assumptions I made, the case of 1 Hz becomes almost trivial.  I'll discuss treatment also just one channel, as it is similarly almost trivial to go from 1 to N-channel.

If you have 1 second of data sampled at 10 kHz, and will "reduce" 1 second of data sampled at 1 kHz.  Note that you have 10 samples for each data point that you want in the end.  The "Averaging" method said "Replace all 10 points in the average of these 10 points", while "resampling" method said "replace 10 points with, say, the first point, ignoring the others.  An easy way to do this is to use the Reshape feature to transform an array of 10 x 1000 elements of your array of 10000 items 1-D 2D.  Now, you can use a loop FOR an average of 10 items or simply extract the first.  [This is where almost everyone, including me, a mistake - when you put a 10 x 1000 2D array in a loop, you get 10 iterations of 1000 items and we want 1000 iterations of 10 items.]  Oops, what to do?  [Simple - converts 2D array before sending in the loop FOR.]

So when you have processed your 10,000 points and got both 1000 samples "1 kHz" and 1 "1 Hz" sample, you write each of them in their respective folder and wait for the next item in the queue of the consumer.  Consumer focus on the queue loop, it will automatically 'block', waiting for the producer of the 'feed' some data.  Note that the producer generates data once per second, producing 10000 points for the consumer in the process, but the time to deal with these points and perform the required disk i/o should take only a few milliseconds (certainly not more than 100, even if writing to a floppy!), so you don't have much time to do other interesting things (such as display data).

    Help, please!

    Hello

Sorry to jump in if I was out of the country for a while and am still catching things in my office.

I think you are looking for someone to say yes, "you can connect to the scope with NOR-MAX and VISA, and here's how interactive tool do"

    A few things:

LabVIEW for XStream extended driver is the right one.  It works with all the TeledyneLeCroy Windows based scopes.

As I see has already been noted. (I'll give Kudos soon), the scope of application must be configured to use interface USBTMC.  To do this, go to the drop down Utitlites on the scope menu and select "utilities configuration... '. "in the tabs that appear at the bottom of the screen, select the 'Remote' tab and make sure that the interface type is set to USBTMC.  This will also show you the VISA resource (I see it in the title of the image of VISA interactive tool indicated in a previous post).

Once this field is selected, the PC should detect the USB connection and install the device. (you can see in your device manager as a Test of USB and the measurement device):

Once this is done, you can then enter the NOT-MAX and it will detect and display resources.  You can now communicate with the device:

If you have problems, do not hesitate to give me a call and I'm happy to walk through it over the phone.

  • USBTMC Data Acquisition Device Firmware

    Hello

I'm trying to develop a simple data acquisition equipment which can interface with Labview using USBTMC Protocol.  The rest of the sheet USBTMC and USBTMC-USB488, I have implemented the code to treat endpoints in bulk-Out with all the message ID. However, I am a little confused on how NI-VISA actually interracts with a device.  When a command viWrite or viRead is given, what are the specific messages are sent to the device on which endpoints, and what is the expected response of the device? What would the classic process to acquire large quanties of data from a USBTMC device? If you can clear all this for me, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    Mike

When the host issues viWrite call, the header USBTMC_BULKOUT of 12 bytes followed by your channel SCPI is sent to the endpoint of your firmware BULKOUT. In this case, USBTMC_BULKOUT header contains MsgID = 1.

When the host issues appeal of viRead, USBTMC_BULKOUT of 12-byte header must be sent to ask for playback to the BULKOUT endpoint. In this case the MsgID = 2 and the length is only 12 bytes of all. Then your firmware, if a response string is ready, must set the header USBTMC_BULKIN followed by the answer of the SCPI endpoint to send BOULKIN.

viWrite generates a transaction BULKOUT and viRead generates a transaction BULKOUT more BOULKIN transaction.

    example:

viWrite ("* IDN?") \n') - generates a transaction bulkout in the form of bytes [12 + 6 + 2]. (the last 2 bytes are padding to align the 4 bytes)

Correcponding viRead () - generates a bulkout in the form of bytes [12], then the firmware fixed Boulkin data [12 + response + padding].

  • Several timers loop data acquisition

    Hi all

I am developing a VI for FPGA Deployment. My equipment consists of a chassis/controller for cRIO-9072 with module 1-9211 thermocouple, card SD-1 module, 3-9215 HAVE modules and universal modules 2-9219. I will collect data of two thermocouples on the 9211, 14 channels on 9215 channels and 6 on 9219 modules. This system communicates to the host via ethernet.

I have prepared a vi (see attachment), which used two DMA FIFO for writing data to data acquisition at a different speed. I will be sampling the s and 9211 9219 much more slow (500ms by samples), than other channels (40 ch/kech. / s). Currently, my FPGA vi trying only to taste two different modules. When I run the present on the host vi and try to read the data, I get only extracts of the data at different intervals. If either of her would reveal latency with the connection or the host vi failed to refresh quite quickly? I am relatively new to labview, so any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    Gaussy

    Hi Guassy,

There are a few things that you need to change:

    (1) you must separate your acquisition in the FPGA in two separate loops if they have to operate at different speeds.  As it is, probably will run at the slower speed of the two parameters.

    (2) you must do the same in your VI in real time, or set up the DMA readings so that they will be read at the same pace.  For example, suppose that a single module acquires 1000 hz and the other at 200 hz.  If you want to read 100 samples from the first module (so your reading will occur at 1000 hz / 100 samples = 10 hz), you will need to read 20 samples from the slower module, so it is synchronized with the first module.

    (3) your timeouts are too short on your DMA readings.  Your slow acquisition is 500 us.  It will take 50 ms to read 100 samples requested, but the delay is set for 10 ms, so 4 times over 5 playback will return nothing.

    (4) you use graphics and no graphics.  A chart will only show the current data buffer that was written for her.  Refresh rate of the façade is nondeterministic, so that you can't see every update.  If you use a chart, the chart will record all data written on it to the indicated depth (default is 1024 elements).

Also remember that you can have three FIFOs DMA between the host and the target FPGA, so use them wisely.  It is often easier to perform your purchases on the FPGA at the same pace and send them through the DMA FIFO even in VI in real-time.  If you need a few channels to connect at a lower rate, you can always throw the excess samples (there are some decimate wave screws that are perfect for this).

    I hope that helps!

  • Save the data in the chart to the file constantly

I'm analog data Aqcuerir of USB 6000 data acquisition and display on the chart. I have to save all the data in a file as well (text or excel... or at least a file). It is easy to configure so that the data is saved after the stop button was so press until the end of the race. However, I need to write to a file when running because he could be running for days. In such a period extended, the buffer is an overload, and the data is lost.

Could you please indicate some kind of how to write data to a file constantly during measurement, wthout record in the buffer?
