Save & Food Center

  • I still use a portable hard drive if I use Back-Up & Restore Center?

You must use an external hard drive or DVD to back up data.

What would happen to your data if you saved on a Partition on your internal hard drive and the hard disk failed!

It would be lost.

See you soon.

  • I NEED ASSISTANCE TO RESTORE THE COMPUTER BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS

    I have a Dell Vista Home Premium 32 bit computer.  On April 14, I tried to update some drivers, install a music player & even install Vista Service Pack 1.  Is Service Pack 1 bis new section?  I've had my computer for several years and I have automatic updates, so I was surprised when I turned on my computer on April 14, and a message came saying Windows was this important update & I wanted to install, I did.

    Anyway, between all the stuff I did that night I somehow totally messed up my computer.  When nothing would not properly work, I went up to the back & Food Center.  I used this at least a couple of times before without a problem.  This time however, there is no restore point of your choice except April 14.  Anything before that.  When I click on choose another restore point, nothing happened.  I tried to choose April 14 restore point but that didn't help.  Then, to really live things, I decided to restart my computer in Mode safe.  I will never use this option again.  Now I can't get into anything other than Safe Mode.  I ran Spyware, Malware and all the options 'repair your computer' I could find.  Nothing did.  I came on this forum once and the person who helped me finally said the only thing that remains for me to do was to do a full system restore.  He said there was nothing more he could think of to help me.  He didn't tell me how.

    I'm not crazy to do recovery, because I don't know that I will have things then it will fix it, as my Internet service and who knows what else.  But not having not much money right now, I don't want to take my computer somewhere to be fixed if I have to.  Could you please help me to do a full system recovery?  First of all, how can I save my photos and my files, I don't want to lose?  And how do I know what I need to save?  I have a USB flash Memory Stick that I plugged into my computer.  He downloaded the software but I have no idea how to do to get my files to transfer to it.

    And what if I have a virus?  Would I transfer to the portable storage device and then reintroduce the virus to my computer when I transfer this back?  I ran spyware & malware and nothing shows up, but clearly SOMETHING is wrong.  I have a disc of reinstalling that came with my computer but I shouldn't need to use this, should I?  Someone has the patience to give me DETAILED instructions on how to make the recovery, including how to do a back up?  I would love you forever.

    And that way if you also have a recovery partition on your hard drive.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    To backup your data: files, photos, music, etc:
    1. plug the flash drive
    2. go in where your files are stored
    3. click right on what you want to record, example: a photo album > Send to > click on the USB Flash Drive(it might be Drive E: or F:)> it will save to it)
    4. Repeat until you have backed up all your data.
    When it comes time to reinstall the data, connect the Flash drive, AFTER that you have an anti-virus and Anti-Malware installed, right click on the flash drive? It Scan before copying the files on your computer.
    You want to an encrypted drive so that no one else will be able to see your data?
    You should get an external hard drive
    As you say, a USB 2.0 connection is best. (most drives come with two or three you need to plugin so the reader gets enough power and you get a speed of 480 MB/s)
    Windows Vista has a large auto backup (control of configuration\systeme and Maintenance\Backup and Food Center) that backs up all your data (as just more external hardrives back up the folders "My Documents, pictures, videos") feature of windows Vista is very easy to use.
    An ideal backup drive
    (1) an external hard drive
    (2) with USB 2
    (3) and no backup software
    (4) encryption if you want
    (5) a well-known brand with a good reputation (Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba)
    (6) have at least two times more space than you think you will need
    I hope this helps.
  • How to recover the Satellite A200-1KZ?
    Hello. I m from Spain. So excuse me for errors I could do in that language.
    Well, I bought this phone and I m very happy with it. But recently I had a problem.
    The issue is that I m a user of linux but use windows to play games and similar. The fact is that I was almost four or five months without getting into windows and... I Don t understand this, but... I forgot my password lol.
    I had tried every password I use, but no one worked. I could get into windows with different account unprotected, administrator privileges, so I can uninstall and install programs. I just make a copy of all my data from my user security.
    Difficult, I have administrator privileges, I use to have problems; for example Mozilla Firefox crashing.
    Take the County that I use this laptop for... probably six or seven years. So I have a lot of FP programs who use Don t actually and I think that the best I can do is to reinstall.
    When I bought the pc, they told me that the pc have a hidden partition (winRE) with 2.0 GB more or less. And when I use the Food Center (in windows vista) I see that partition, but disabled.
    Stand-alone box, with documentation, is, more or less 800 km. It probably contains a cd. The question is if you know how long that model have an indeed hidden partition (and restoring that) or I have to use the cd, thanks and again, I apologize about the errors.
    You're right about the partition recovery or recorded image recovery on the HARD disk but the problem is that you can't access.
    All you can try is again recovery disk order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    Others and for me the best solution is to install own Win7 32bits version. It works very well and stabile on this old A200.
  • HP Z620: Problem of auxiliary graphic workstation HP Z620 pci-e power connectors
    I want to fit my new GPU Z620 workstation card. I see that there are two auxiliary pci - e power connectors on the plastic support. I intend to use these two to put my new graphics card but I see potential problems.
    The problem is that in these two connectors pinout is not really to PCI-e spec. There are five female terminals to each 6 connector routes. The three terminals in the top row are crushed and two terminals downstairs is 12V. 6 cavity is empty in both connectors. As far as I know the PCI-e power connectors should have 12V power supplied to cavity n ° 4 and n ° 6 of cavity. What I have to manually change these two connectors pinout and move terminal 12V from cavity to cavity no.6 no.5 or there may be a few HP adapter that could solve this problem?
    connectors
    Only HP knows what HP has designed (and why) and as such, it cannot be assumed simply that a connector on a system is consistent with the 'standards' and not a "psudo owner" Connector (as seems to be the case with your PEG connector that is missing pin #3).
    Normally, a PEG 2 connector x 3 can provide 75W and as such, each 12V pin provides 1/3 of the power budget. This means that the HP "psydo owner" PEG connector, for lack of a better term, may not be able to supply 50W (if each ping is kept for the same current capabilities used in the standard 2 x 3 plug PEG).
    Then, this suggests the Z620 can only support a 175W graphics cards (with 75W of PCIe + 50W of each of the two 2 x 3 PEG connectors). Note that the standard allows graphics cards to 225W pulling 75W of the slot PCIe and 75W of each PEG 2 connector x 3!
    Thus, quantify this is to watch the quickspec for your Z620 and see what graphics cards are certified for use with your system. Then to know what cards are certified for your system, you can check what PEG connectors as appropriate are provided on these certified cards and also check what is their energy consumption. I would guess that all graphics cards that require more juice 175W has not been certified by HP...
    Since you say your card draws 165W, this budget of power seems OK during examination of the foregoing. So it should just be a matter of connect the two connectors of the PEG 2 x 3 and all should be well.
    However, it you want a card more powerful, purely based on the fact that a standard 2 x 4 connector PEG can power 150W using three-pin 12V, this would indicate that each pin can supply 50W. Assuming that the pins used in a conector of PEG 2 x 3 and 2 x 4 are the same, a 2 x 3 with only two pins 12V power connector could in theory provide 100W each. So you could in theory use a 275W card into the PCIe slot with your 2 psudo owner HP PEG connectors. BUT it means something to the pins themselves and that your HP power is up to the task (and can actually provide the necessary 275W power).
    And I would say that if you wanted a graphics 225W which is supported by standards, likley it would be a simple mod to the rider 12V among the pins for the vacancy that is normally used by the 3 pin (12V).  I'd be surprised if the block POWER HP of power and wiring could not handle the necessary extra 50W. But maybe it's a little too much for some who enjoy the guarantee.
    In any case, without owning a Z620, I would be comfortable in saying that you have no problem with this graphics card 165W and these exclusive hybrid psudo 2 x 3 PEG connectors as is
    (Heck, I don't got no problem with a 35W graphics card in a slot PCIe capable of 25W of my Dell T610 server that only supports the graphs via the inetgrated adapter)...
    But really, who knows why only two used HP pin 12V in their PEG connectors, maybe they used the best quality PINE and they were not sufficient for the cards, they chose to certify. Maybe save 2 cents for a less pin was a driving force... HP only knows what HP...
  • Re: How to restore to factory on my Satellite L40 - 18Z?
    I'm trying to restore my laptop to factory settings; It's a Toshiba Satellite L40 - 18z. I tried the F8 procedure it did not work, also was in backup and Food Center, but it leaves me only the backup files. I guess I m going to need a disc, I'm OK, any help would be appreciated.
    Yes you are right. You need for installation of recovery image recovery disk.
    If you n t have it maybe you can order a new one on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    Another solution is to install own OS using the Microsoft installation disc.
  • How can I perform a recovery system on my dv7 2111tx
    Eager to do a full system restore to go back to the status of the plant. Running Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. I can't find the System Recovery Options. Have created a Flash Recovery - so ready to go.
    Any advice?
    HP Back Up and Recovery Manager takes me straight to the back and Food Center... is that correct? Is it the same thing? Doesn't seem to give the right options - can only restore - not recover...
    Need help... Please...
    Hi, Richard:
    Ok... You have 3 files in the same folder.
    Now, you double-click and run the X 14 or 15 as there is, .exe file.
    You get the windows vista installation screen.
    Now close that.
    Now you should see a folder named Vista.
    To create a startup using image burning disk, you do not extract all files in the folder Vista, but follow all the other steps in the section create a .iso file
    It's the wrong info that I mentioned in my post.
    I had to type in Microsoft Corporation, then the rest displayed fields populated.
    Then just burn the ISO file that you built on a DVD using a burning program capable of burning ISO files.
    Hope that helps,
    Paul
  • Media Center to try to save or save the settings when playing tv
    I have a Media Center older that I custom built a few years back. It worked great, but recently, I needed to replace the hard drive and start over. I am running XP MCE 2005 with all service pack upgrades. Its an AMD Athlon 939 3.2 processor dual core with 2.5 GB of ram, a tv tuner double happauge I think it's the model 1250. I have a nvidia GeForce 7600 GT.
    After reinstalling everything and update all the drivers, I came across some of the problems others had with the tv stutter and then freeze it. This problem has been resolved by adjusting settings in the Nvidia Control Panel by the instructions that I found here and elsewhere. (Thank you), but NOW...
    It seems that whenever I'm in a menu, watch tv online, or in the guide and I have an attempt to save a change of setting, ask the guide to record a show, or simply press the record button on my remote, the MC hangs. Television does not freeze, but if I hit a button in the blue screen it depresses only half (hopefully, it makes sense) and does not complete the request and ten minutes later, my screen goes to sleep and I have to restart to recover features. OR if I just hit the record button on the remote control of the continuous tv but it does not start recording and the remote stops working. In both cases I can force quit the application and relaunch MC but no functionality returns the menus come but no orders are accepted.
    All thoughts. I am a competent convenience store so put on. As far as I know is the system worked perfectly before my back in place at all.
    Thanks in advance. I use all the most recent drivers and patches for everything. I use Nvidia pure video too as my cable box. What a great also... worked before.
    Thank you all for what you do. I raise the boxes for a living and I know I look at restarting the computer for one is equally difficult. :)
    My xp media center has worked very well for years, but since installing K2502898 on March 9, 2011, although there is spare 50 GB on drive C and spare 50 GB on drive D, record space fell to less than 30 minutes, and although I can increase the amount of space available to save , on the two disks and click 'Save', it is not 'save' even on reset, and I can't work out what to do.
