  I have a problem which seems to have been discussed here, a few years back, but it seemed no resolution at the time.

  The problem is, I am trying to get my personal files moved to drive B: to the C: drive.

  This to Re-partitioning of the C: drive for less of a catastrophe should my drive C: never kick the bucket.

  I found the instructions online to move all (Local, LocalLow and roaming files.  The instructions worked well upward, to the folder (Local).

  I can't make it move.  I checked the permissions and I should be OK here as I am the only user and administrator.  All are checked in the Security tab.

  Bottom line is I have aprox. 1.7 GB of info that I probably need to move to this folder (Local) and still can not.

  I am attaching a sample of the message that I get trying to move the property path.

  Can someone help me out here telling me:

  (1) is it possible to move this folder?

  (2) what I lose if I have a dead hard drive, if the (Local) file is not moved to the other disk?

  (3) any person having legitimate suggestions, who has the same goal as me and want the cold hard facts to do that, we can

  get help?

• LOCAL USE OF HARD DRIVE D: AS AN EXTENSION OF THE LOCAL C: DRIVE

  The office is a Dell Optiplex GX260 with Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3. The local disk C: drive only has 1 GB of available space remaining and the local disk D: drive is not formatted and has never been used. Two local disk drives show in my computer. The local disk C: drive has a NIFS file system while the unformatted local disk D: drive has a RAW file system.

  I would like to know if it is possible to format the D: drive and use it as an extension of the local disk C: drive, that is to say with the same function as an external hard drive.   What you try to do, is use your second hard drive for some of your files and possibly applications. I suggest that you format the drive D: to NTFS. Easy to move to the D: drive would be My Documents, as described HERE. The same would apply to my music, my pictures, etc. Applications can be moved easily. You will need to reinstall the application and during the installation process, select the D: drive as destination. For many applications, this involves the use of the option "Custom Installation".

  LR is not a file Explorer. He knows only the disks that you imported photos of.

  If you have previously imported these photos, then later moved into the external hard drive, go to the library files and "update location" Panel on the files that you moved.

  If you have never imported these images on the external hard drive, perform an import by using the option 'Add' (not ' copy') to keep the images on the external hard drive during import.

  Select this option.

  There are actually several 'library' files in the Finder and it is better that you don't mess with them.  Most browsers have ways to delete the cookies in the browser itself and adjusting the size of browser cache.  Caches speed up the operation of the computer, and unless you have a specific problem, you have not and should not, remove them.  At best he probably will do nothing, and at worst you may have to reinstall your operating system.

  In addition to comments of Bruce, likely OE compacted messages and in doing so, he probably wiped out the where they are absent.  Check your Inbox and message store bak files which are backups dbx files prior to compaction (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2).  If you cannot find the bak files, then you will probably use the extract of the service drive of my DBXpress program (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).
