Scanning with Paint: Windows 8

Have you ever tried to get the installation of analytical software, but just can't make it work?  During troubleshooting, it is sometimes necessary to try scanning 3rd party programs to see if it's simply a matter of driver/software conflict.

Microsoft has included the ability to import the scans and photos of a multifunction printer using the Analyzer in Microsoft Paint.  HP has made a video with detailed instructions on how to do this type of research.  Check out the video below.

Paint has the ability to do this type of research in most versions of Windows, but the video focuses on Windows 8.  The main difference between how this would be done on Windows 8 and earlier versions of Windows, this is how you can access the painting.

I hope it's useful for some people.

    Hi @Sajapand @ddegan

I see that you both scan problems after upgrade to Windows 10, and I may be able to help.

Most of the products have updated software available on the HP support Web site for Windows 10.

I also saw a few posts that say Windows 8.1 driver works for Windows 10 as well, then you could try also.

HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan doctor to diagnose and troubleshoot printing and scanning problems. I recommend you to download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor , if she doesn't fix it automatically I would know what errors or messages that you receive.

Do you know if you are able to scan using paint?

To perform a scan of the painting: HP Multifunction printers - how Scan: Windows 8

(This is the same for Windows 10, of what I said)

    1. Click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click on Searchand type Paint.
    2. Click on the painting in the results.
    3. Click fileand then click on from a scanner or camera.
    4. Select your printer, click OK, and then click Scan.

Please let me know if any of these steps has resolved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

    Hello

Is the printer connected to your PC by USB or network?

Using the USB connection, you can scan using Windows Fax and Scan software built into your operating system.

Scanning over a network connection unfortunately supported on Windows7 32 bit only, as you can find listed in the section about network scanning below:

All in one, type printers (print, copy, scan) usually have a very specific set of instructions during the installation.  If not followed exactly the probability is that the scanner will not work.

    Canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer

Download and read the Setup instructions for your model, have you followed the instructions exactly, more precisely when to connect the printer / scanner during installation of the software process?

How to open the files .fxm and .fxr with fax windows 7 & scan?  These faxes have been received when I had Windows XP.

    Hello

A file with FXR and FXM file extensions is a Document received from WinFax.

You can open the FXR and FXM file by double clicking on it and let your PC decide which default application should open the file.   If no program opens, the FXR and FXM file, then you have probably an installed application that can view and/or edit FXR and FXM files.

You can use a Notepad or another text editor to open these files.  Number of files is files read-only, which means little matter file extension, a text editor may be able to view the contents of the file properly.  This may or may not be the case with FXR and FXM files, but it's worth a try.

There are two ways to try to convert a file to a different file type:

    a. open the FXR file in its default program and choose to save the file open in another file format.

Canon MP250 will not scan with Windows 7. 2,155,2 error code

This Canon MP250 printer/scanner never worked well with Windows 7 and 8 for example. Printing would just hang out and print only the laptop restarts. Scanning has been difficult but eventually worked. Now, the scanner does not at all.

This is the message that comes with the 2,155,2 Error Code:

Cannot communicate with the scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check the status. Scanner driver will be closed.

They aren't joking about the closing of the scanner driver. I didn't know that the closure would be permanent.

Also, I get the following message when I plug in the printer:

    USB device not recognized.

It appears to malfunction. Windows accepts the USB port only when I unplug the power cord of the printer and wait half a minute before plugging new.

Canon told me I need to download the driver software of its UK site and updated. Fact that several times, also uninstalled and reinstalled the original software and the driver supplied with the disc.

Software will download, but not install. Guard me with the message: do you want this program to make changes to your computer?

I tried to install the updated driver manually, because Windows does not find a driver for this printer.

It drives me crazy, slowly. Can anyone help?

    Hi ntanti,.

Acrobat 7 is not more supported by Adobe & is also not compatible with Windows 10, so it is not possible to predict how Acrobat 7 will include no compatible platform.

Please use the application in the compatible environment so that its fully functional.

However, still you can try some troubleshooting steps, from a few Troubleshooting scanner questionscan be used.

  • Can't scan with HP Officejet R40xi

    Hi all

I hope that someone here can give me a little help. I just installed windows 7 on a computer that was previously under xp. When I went to plug my Officejet R40xi with a usb connection window went through the process of detection, automatic and found the driver as usual. However, when I tried to test everything I noticed that the aircraft was to appear as a printer, but not as a scanner (it worked on xp). I looked on line and tried a few other options. I double checked to make sure WIA ran, tried scanning paint, windows photo gallery, etc., as has been proposed in many articles that I found and I even tried to start the HP scan diagnostic tool I've seen referenced but it has not yet detected that I had a scanner. Nothing has worked so far and I'm almost at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi realTrev,

Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:

    1. type services.msc in run or search and files program

    2. scroll the page up to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition

    3. make sure that the service is running. Click on stop and then restart to ensure

    4 restart the computer

    Restart the services of dependencies:

    1. Click Start, in the search box type 'service ' without quotes.

    2. scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

    3. double click on it and go to the Dependencies tab.

    4-2 services must be listed.

    5. close this window and look for the remote procedure call (RPC).

    6. make sure it's on manual or if it is enabled automatically, just leave it. Make sure the service is started.

    7. go to hardware detection kernel and Double click.

    8. set the Startup Type to manual and click on apply.

    9. you should be able to start the service by pressing Start.

10 now, you are done and the Twain Manager must work and gives you is not a mistake.

    Check the dependencies or sous-dependances:

Right-click WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) by selecting the first Properties , and then click the dependencies tab. It should list: remote procedure call and Detection of Harward Shell

Under the CPP, it will then list DCOM Service Process Launcher point final RPC Mapper date back to the start all the items listed as dependencies or dependencies under WIA void list main services.msc and right click then
