Scripted ESX 3.5 installation

Hello

I want to install ESX 3.5 update 5 through the script (install automated via http).

When installing failback strategy should be on by default 'yes' 'no '.

I'm doing it with the command: vim-vmware-cmd hostsvc/net/vswitch_setpolicy-nicteaming-rollingorder = false vSwitch0

After installation, the policy has not changed and is always set to "yes".

So I ran the command in the service console and a few seconds after the prompt is back. Customer infrastructure "" recent tasks"shows that the position of the switches have been updated, but the policy has not changed and is always set to"yes ".

What is the problem with the command?

Thanks for help.

Tino

Hi Tino

If you want to as failback: no, then you need to use:

vmware-vim-cmd hostsvc/net/vswitch_setpolicy --nicteaming-rollingorder=true vSwitch0

  • Assign Scripts to buttons during Installation

I recently started to support a customer who has tiara installed over a number of workstations (mainly v8, some v8.1). They have developed hundreds of custom scripts (AUT mainly, but also some VBS), and at the present time, the installation process is quite painful, as I install Diadem, copy on hundreds of scripts manually configure each workstations for the memory settings, etc. of ODBC, then, assign scripts mmost used to different buttons.

I'm very experienced at writing installers usign tools such as sage and SMS Installer script, is anyway that Diadem v8.x allows me to automate the Setup process?

Almost all the settings seem to reside in the desktop.ddd file, but as it's binary I don't want to try to edit it directly.

Most of the PC I support is on the lease and should be replaced in the next few weeks, so I prefer an automated solution.

    Any advice gratefully received.

    Onkar astride

    Hello Onkar!

I'll try to give you some answers.

    • Desktop (DDD) file contains the basic parameters DIAdem. It is a text file, but should not be patched. Try to implement one in suit wich DIAdem all users.
    • The parameters of the user - assignment of button/script is one of it - is stored in a separate file, usually named "userpar.par". The name is stored in the DDD and you can change it in DIAdem. You can do a fresh install of tiara with all your button assignments, then copy the userpar.par file in the installation repository you. You must copy this file on new installations, but never on the current because all the unique user specific settings will be lost.
    • Scripts can be stored on a generally shared network drive. With AUT isn't the best approach because DIAdem will store the compiled version (AUC) to the same place that will be a bottleneck. You can put them next to the Desktop.DDD and UserPar.PAR in a self-made installer, which you can run after a fresh TIARA has been installed.

I hope this helps a little. Do not hesitate to ask if something is not clear to you.

  • I tried Skype download, message "script required to complete installation of the toolbar could not be run" came. Mine is Windows XP Pack 3

I was using Skype with no problems, all of a sudden, everything was still, I finally had to restart the computer, uninstalled Skype, I tried downloading Skype again, uninstalling the toolbar was not possible, "required to complete the installation of tool bar script could not be run"message came.  And so was to uninstall the toolbar also.  Mine is version 5.1 Windows XP Service Pack 3.  Help, please

The instructions should be essentially the same except that you don't have to run as administrator command prompt.

Then register the VBScript.dll file which as explained above.

Let us know if that helps.

  • Error code 1720: there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this installation could not be executed.

I have Windows Vista (with Service Pack 2) installed on my system. I am trying to install a program called HotDocs.  HotDocs is a document generation program.  The installation process is arrested shortly after it starts and I get the following error message:

I tried to use msconfig to determine if any service could interfere with the Windows Installer (none appeared to be - their judgment has not solved the problem of turing), run the installation as an administrator, and help from Microsoft 'Fix It' Troubleshooting Guide (for installation problems), but none who has eliminated the problem. I also contacted the HotDocs seller and they had no solution for the problem and have not all reports other customers that their program was causing a problem.

When you try to redownload the installer windows Iget a msg that says: a script required for t his install to complete could not be run.

    Hi nyyankee53

You can check if the antivirus or other security software raises questions. I would say to you temporarily disable the security software installed and check if the problem is resolved.

If you disable any security software for troubleshooting temporarily, so don't forget to activate after troubleshooting is completed that your computer will be at risk.

  • How can APEX 5 you add to a Script of the existing Installation of export?

When I create a new image or an external file, the APEX 4, I could go to ' manage supporting objects ', 'create from scratch '.  Here, there is an area where I could add my new image/external file to the list of items in the current application in a Setup Script.  This installation Script can be exported in a different workspace such that all the images/external files are loaded only once.  Though awkward, I could use this handy feature.  However, the APEX 5, it seems to have been deleted altogether.  There is only the Scratch options "Create from" or "creating a file.  It is not good that the APEX expects that the file sort of a "MIME" or coded text format she calls the wwv_flow_api.create_or_remove_file () function.  If anyone knows how to convert an image into something accepted by wwv_flow_api.create_or_remove_file ()?

It is not necessary to create a separate export for static application files in APEX 5.0. They are automatically included in the export of the application. Workspace and static application files can also be imported and exported in bulk as ZIP files.

  • No adapters network for ESX 5.5 Installation

I hope someone can give me an answer I can use to try to get this working.

I try to install ESX 5.5 on a PC additional I have laying around my house and I've known nothing else problems with the network adapter. I use an Asus P68V-Pro motherboard with a processor Intel 2500 k and Intel PCI - E network card.

I originally tried to install with built-in Intel Gigabit Ethernet port and was getting a similar error, so I went out yesterday and bought a PCI-E card I know is supported by ESX 5.5 I have 2 friends with the same card it runs without any problems. Reviews of the card that I managed to find also seem to support this. My motherboard supports virtualization and my processor is on a list of the compatible CPU for Hyper-V and VMWare.

But every time I try to run the installation it pops up with the NETWORK CARDS WITHOUT error and cancels the installation. Is there a way to force drivers to be detected during the installation, or ignore the prompt for access to the network in order to install it and then manually transfer the drivers more later?

Ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated, as I seem to have run out of good on my end.

    Thank you

  • ESX 4.1 installation fails (accidents and loops) on IBM server

    Framework

    Server IBM x 3350 4193-AC1 model

    BIOS 1.37 (2008)

    --------------------------------------------------

You could never run a VMWare ESX / I produced on this server?

    Yes, ESXi 4.0

And Yes, it's true. I could install ESXi (ESX with an 'i' at the end) and use it to test for about 1 year.

Now, I want to practice with ESX (without 'i') and thought, I might as well install the latest version.

    ------------------------------------------------

    What is going on?

I am able to boot from the CD.

I opt to install using the GUI.

    The installation wizard starts.

    Preliminary checks are OK.

Some lines appear quickly on the screen and I remember the word "weasel" in particular.

I have the ability to install custom drivers and I chose the 'no '.

Hypothesis (good or bad...): this server has been in the HCL for 4.0, so it should be good for 4.1.

Then, at various times during the installation of drivers (I tried this 5 times +), the ESX install wizard accidents (the screen becomes black) and restart of the entire servers.

He has crashed (and then rebooted) at the very beginning of driver loading and section at the end, just after the 100%

It crashed when loading "62vmfs" and "34.storage - pilot.

If ever systematically on a specific driver.

This failure seems to coincide with a yellow light on the IBM Light Path Diagnostics module lighting: NMI.

In the BIOS system log refers to "Message Code 00152100"

I can erase the amber light (managed to turn off the power) by stopping the server completely (pulling on the power cord), then by restarting the whole process - with the same results.

Search on Google, I've seen a few references to NMI but referring to a HP Server.

    Any ideas?

According to the HCL (http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php) your firmware must be updated. Make sure that all components of the server (in particular the RAID controller) are listed on the HCL for version 4.1and have the current firmware.
