SE message: someone had been hacking my computer.
Original title: I was told that the May 13,2013 that someone had been hacking my computer is possible to know who it was?
I don't know a lot about texing on my computer.
Hi Sabine,.
1. what version of Windows operating system do you use?
2. what anti-virus software is installed on the system?
3. What is the exact message that you receive?
Try the following steps to ensure that your computer is operating safely.
> Make sure you have the active firewall. Check also your antivirus is fully updated and the settings are fine.
For more information, see the article:
How to stimulate your defence of malware and protect your PC
> Make sure that you have a good antivirus installed program.
Alternatively, you can try to run a scan on your computer and check if it helps.
You can refer to the article and perform a full scan on your computer using the Microsoft Safety Scanner.
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
> Change your password and use a password for your account login.
UAC (User Account Control) keep active.
Hope the helps of information.

Warning message that we had been hacked.
We have 10.7.5 we received a message that the system had been hacked and we should call it an 877 number to talk to the Apple support. I turned the computer off for the night. Today, when restarting the message was gone. I was able to run Sophos Anti-virus that does no threats. Does this sound familiar to others? Is it a scam? What should I do when I get a warning message?
It is a SCAM, never all pay attention to these messages. In addition, uninstall Sophos following the instructions of developers. OS X has no need of the AV, cleaning or ANY, repeat ANY utility of third maintenance party. OS X is extremely secure and performs better if left totally alone. Sophos at best worthless and at worst will cause problems with your system.

I was called by a man saying he was with Microsoft, and that someone tried to hack my computer. They consulted my system through a program called somewhere or some how some way when I told them that I had already paid for anti virus and hacking they hung up but still had control of my computer. They continued to open the files, even if I tried to stop my mouse does not work only them would be. Please let me know how do I know if they have access to everything and I have to do next... .change all accounts, passwords or is it at the end? I'm not a computer person and appreciate any help I can get. Thank you, Sue

This is a complete scam and one that has become very common these days. . Don't think anything such a caller said, do nothing that he tells you to do and hang up on him immediately.
At let them into your computer? If you did you are at serious risk for what they could have done it (installed spyware? Identity theft? Steal the passwords?), and I highly recommend that you do the two following:
1 reinstall Windows properly
2. change all your passwords, especially those of the financial institutions and online stores.

Call the scam; Error message "fault had been detected between windows 7 and Chrome.»
* Original title: is 1866 324 6719 call a call scam?
I was working in Chrome and suddenly the computer started beeping wildly and I got a message that a malfunction has been detected between windows 7 and Chrome. IT gave a number without charge 866 to call and said not to stop the computer or my operating system is compromised. And it will allow me to close the window chrome. My gut says it of a virus, but want to be sure before we do anything. Course of windows essentials security scan now.
It's a scam call caused by malicious software (which is a nuisance rather than a threat). Do not call this number and in no case give some foreign to your PC access.

I was told that I had been \hacked\
This showed on my list of show dlog ontario, sent from my yahoo account than I am with the subject line / HI /.
[message deleted spam links- Moderator]
What's happened and how can I solve this problem and also to ensure that this won't happen again?
Change your password immediately (on your Yahoo email account) and contact Yahoo for assistance.
Regarding how to prevent in the future, use strong passwords, don't share your e-mail address, practice computer secure by never clicking on unsolicited attachments or links. On the PC itself, use an up-to-date antivirus program and follow the following recommendations (at least):Make sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled.
Make sure that all critical updates or important, including service packs for the operating system and programs are installed from Microsoft Update (Windows Update).
Make sure that Internet Explorer is version 8 or 9 and implemented to date with all patches.
In Internet Explorer, use the SmartScreen filter.
Make sure the Internet IE security settings are at least at medium-high heat (by default).
Turn on the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer.
On Vista and Windows 7 make sure that User Account Control (UAC) and doesn't work with elevated privileges.
Make sure that the automatic updates of Windows are defined to notify at least, but the preferred setting is to download and install automatically. If you update manually, be sure to update as soon as possible after being informed of updates available.
Ensure that applications, including Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash and Java are to their latest versions. Many vendors are regularly updated and fixes security vulnerabilities.
Never click through links from unknown sources and be careful, even if they are from a "reliable".
Never open unsolicited e-mail attachments.
Practice safe web surfing.

I got a phone call from one of the related foreign accent that he was with Microsoft Security and that my computer has been used or something to that effect.
I could hardly understand him. Is this another scam floating around? What should I do to report this?
Thank you
Short answer: Yes. It is a scam. Not much interest to report, as MS are well aware of this problem, but there is little they can do about it since then (I guess) most of the calls are created outside the United States

I had no idea what was going on with my hotmail. I understand now that my account had been hacked, or something like that had happened to her. I finally return to hotmail with a different account, but I lost all my contacts. I found a couple of them, but I did not have a lot of good. Is it possible to recover my contacts? Easier the better. 1. the MOST important... do nothing the message asking you to do.
2. connect with your e-mail server. Check the message. I suspect it's a hoax or, worse, a scam.
3. post the whole message again, less your e-mail address.

My computer could have been hacked by Microsoft Technician via remote assistance?
Last week I contact Microsoft support about a problem that I had and the technician said it needs access to my computer by the remote assistant in order to solve the problem. I asked if he could direct me and let do me it myself but he said no, it must be connected by remote assistance. As he'd download it told me it would take a while and he could not stay on the phone with me because he could help other customers in the meantime and said he'd call me when the download is complete. He did call back me and was able to solve my problem.
However shortly after my computer has been hacked and I am wondering if it is just a coincidence or could it have downloaded information from my computer. Should I have allowed him access to remote assistance. I am very worried.
Your help would be appreciated
