Sector recovery Vista TTG boot after format and installing XP

First machine is a DELL inspiron 1545
OK, this is somewhat complicated and I tried a few options.
I formatted the primary partition and installed XP after which discovered the recovery partition that I cannot now access via CTRL + F11, and a few other combinations I tried.

I won access to the partition via ubuntu so I know it's all there and intact.

I tried to use imagex to restore image files of vista on the recovery partition which they are 2 (spl_vista.swm spl_vista2.swm) so I used the order of REF. but I got a CRC error.

I tried to use imagex to restore another image file in the HDDRE folder. WIM, but that the image has no MBR

I was able to start the the recovery partation I discovered was a techguys recovery system by changing the active partition through diskpart, but he told me that he could not find the HARD drive, I also tried to boot to a DMS and had the same result.

any ideas on the means may restore the vista on this machine?

Hello

We cannot help you difficulty dell recovery partition

It's their recovery partition, not Microsoft

Contact Dell for any additional assistance with their recovery processes

Try these methods to reinstall vista

Contact the manufacturer of Dell and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • After format and install Win XP Home and SP3 why can't open the Microsoft web sites?

    Need help, guys

I had to replace my HARD drive in my computer. I installed my Windows XP Home SP2 disc. After installation, I used my SP3 upgrade drive and my drive to upgrade to IE8. After you install all my drivers, I tried to get Windows dates and discovered that I could not access the Microsoft web sites. I get Internet Explorer cannot display this page. I tried to find out why this is happening and how to correct the situation, but have not found an answer that works yet. Can someone give me an answer to this question.

I have another (used) computer that I formatted the HDD installed and on Windows 7 and have had no problems to access the Microsoft web sites on. It uses the same modem cable like the other computer so I guess that everything is ok with my Internet connection. This problem seems to be only with Windows XP Home SP 3.

  • Format and install Snow Leopard on Mac Mini

    Hello

    • I have a Mac Mini
    • Using boot camp, I have a Win10 partition which is now, the entire hard drive.  Really.
    • I have the installation of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.3) DVD
    • I directly connect the optical drive and a wired keyboard to the system
    • Start by pressing the [CTRL] key.
    • Download the white screen with the Apple logo in the middle of it.
    • .. then nothing.  He's here.  After 10 minutes, I pull the plug and restart the Windows partition and return to the slaughter of these discussion forums for clues.

    Issues related to the:

    1. How do I FORMAT and INSTALL Snow Leopard on the Mac Mini or m, I was too impatient after the [Ctrl] restart using the OS X DVD?
    2. Is there an external utility that I should get to format the drive?
    3. I can do this in steps - can I install OS X on an external HD and then use it for the crater / rebuild the primary drive?

    Input greatly appreciated!

    Rade

usually it is booting by pressing the C key to start from the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive.

or start by pressing the Option key to get a list of the bootable devices that you can choose from.

See <Startup for Mac - Apple Support combinations>

NOTE: This does not imply that you run your Mac mini Snow Leopard.  I guess that your wording she used to run Snow Leopard, and that your Mac mini still has a DVD/CD player are good signs.

  • can I format and install el capitan on a cover attached to the eternal road

My MACBOOK pro is having hard drive problems. It is partitioned to run el capitan and windows 7. the partition main mac only get 75 to 80% through the start-up procedure and then hang up.
I tried to run disk security recovery volume. zap the PRAM, tried to secure boot and FSCK nothing helps.
I ordered a new SSD drive and need to get el capitan on the new drive.
can I format and install el capitan on the new drive if it is attached to the macbook with a hard drive by using the 10.11.1 housing recovery tools before starting the installation in my macbook.

Another option is to see if the local genius bar formats an installer usb for me.

    Thank you

Yes, you should be able to select a destination drive during installation. Is that what you mean?

  • Info CS5 Panel: after archive and install (osx)

I've used it before to archive and install without problem, shoud repair permissions on flash panels or someother?

I have the same trouble with Illustrator, Fireworks, and Indesign... only in file-> file Info Panel.

    Best regards. Robert

    Hi Robert,.

Create a new text file called XMP.cfg (make sure that the extension is cfg and not txt).

The only text that should be in this file is as below:

    / Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info panels.

Restart the Adobe application and review the file information panel.

  • Can I use the HP Recovery partition after formatting and partitioning the rest of the hard drive?

I recently had my HP Pavilion dv4 2145dx laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) go kerput.  The Geek Squad said that the motherboard is dead.  I bought a laptop and I use this one for now, and I use the former dv4 as external hard drive.

I intend to continue to use the hard drive from the old dv4 as an external unresolved for now, but I wish we could fix the dv4 at some point in the future.  Here's the problem: to get the most out of the former dv4 as external drive, I want to repartition it so that there is an NTFS partition and one HFS partition +.  This way I could easily use it with my Mac and Windows machines.

But if I do that, I'm not sure if the image of HP recovery would continue to operate.  If it does not, then if/when I get the old dv4 a new motherboard, I couldn't restore the operating system from the recovery partition.  It is a problem, because I have not create recovery disks (stupid, I know - I'm definitely making them for the new machine).

So, I want to do these two things:

    (1) create my dv4 recovery disks.  Can I do this if the dv4 drive is mounted in an external enclosure?

    (2) format and partition the drive dv4 (the leaving intact recovery partition) and later to recover the system from the recovery partition.  The recovery partition would continue to operate in these conditions?

Thanks for any help that anyone is obtained.

    Hello:

What you do to the C:\drive will make the ineffective recovery partition.

You will not be able to create a set of recovery discs unless the drive is usable in Notepad.

Can you still read all 25 characters of your product key of W7 on the bottom of your laptop broken?

If so, you can do this...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Or, you can probably still order a set of recovery disc for your HP laptop.

  • Blue screen after reformatting and installing VISTA HomePremium

    Hello

I use DELL Inspiron Laptopn and somehow my recovery disk does not work without knowing any reason. So I did an installtion manual disc using my DVD-ROM.  During installation, the Installer application choose what installation disk. I selected 'Advanced Option' and deleted the Partition C: (in primary print) and the MediaDirect (Logical type). Then, I used all the unallocated space to create a new Partition and install windows inside.

The problem arises when the installation is complete and loading into windows, a blue screen appeared for 0.5 sec and the system has rebooted. I tried to reformat the drive again and reinstall Windows, but the problem persists.

Would it cause I have deleted the MediaDirect logical drive, which caused the blue screen? Or a full HARD disk format (including recovery drive D :) will help?)

    Pls advise.

    Kind regards

  • resize boot camp partition, formatted and installed windows 7 - now cannot open in vmware fusion

Here are the steps that I took...

1 has started with the copy of Windows XP in the boot camp partition. "This is accessible from VMWare Fusion."

2 resized (from 6 GB to 18 GB) and formatted the boot camp partition.

3 successfully installed Windows 7 directly in the resized partition boot camp (not through VMWare Fusion).

    4. starts in OSX (latest version), open VMWare Fusion and attempted to access the partition to boot camp/vm. Received an error message charging me to disassemble and reassemble the physical disk changes. However, since I did it, he cannot find a bootable disc, therfore making it the useless bootcamp VM.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Paul

Note: These steps assume that you have a default Apple installation of Windows and a VMware Fusion Boot Camp Virtual Machine default partition and if you changed the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine to add additional hard disks to be virtual or RAW disk then do not use these instructions unless you backup the Boot Camp partition the Virtual Machine package first.

    1. If the merger is open, close it.

    2. in a Terminal (/ Applications/Utilities/Terminal) copy and paste command, as the following and then press Enter and it will remove the Boot Camp Virtual Machine meta-data partition. Note: This does not affect the Boot Camp partition to install Windows. Also make sure that you copy the entire command below "rm" line at the beginning of the ' (quote) after the p in the Camp. "

RM - dfr "/Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/Virtual Machines / Boot Camp."

    3. start Fusion (/ Applications/VMware Fusion) and select the Boot Camp partition on the library of the Virtual Machine window, and then click the run button.

Notes: Then, an authentication dialog box appears. "VMware Fusion requires that you type your password." Enter your name and password, and then click OK. (It is necessary to remove the Boot Camp for the merge partition to access it directly).

Then, we should see a Boot Camp partition message stating "VMware Fusion prepares your Boot Camp partition to run as a virtual machine. This may take a few minutes. This occurs once. »

When the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine starts for the first time after this VMware Tools may want or will install/update and restart the virtual partition Boot Camp Machine.
